A two orbital model for the new Fe-based superconductors is studied using the Lanczos method as well as pairing mean-field approximations. Our main goals are (i) to provide a comprehensive analysis of this model using numerical techniques with focus on half-filling and on the state with two more electrons than half-filling and (ii) to investigate the nodal structure of the mean-field superconducting state and compare the results with angle-resolved photoemission data. In particular, we provide evidence that at half-filling spin 'stripes', as observed experimentally, dominate over competing states.
Depending on parameters, the state with two more electrons added to half filling is either triplet or singlet. Since experiments suggest spin singlet pairs, our focus is on this state. Under rotation, it transforms as the B_2g representation of the D_4h group. We also show that the s+/- pairing operator transforms as A_1g and becomes dominant only in an unphysical regime of the model where the undoped state is an insulator. For robust values of the effective electronic attraction producing the Cooper pairs, assumption compatible with recent angle-resolved photoemission (ARPES) results that suggesting small Cooper-pair size, the nodes of the two-orbital model are found to be located only at the electron pockets. Since recent ARPES efforts have searched for nodes at the hole pockets or only in a few directions at the electron pockets, our results for the nodal distribution may help to guide future experiments. More in general, the investigations reported here aim to establish several of the properties of the two orbital model. Only a detailed comparison with experiments will clarify how far this simple model present a valid description of the Fe pnictides.
LaFe1-yCoyAsO1-xFx (x=0.11) with various y values were prepared and their electrical resistivities, superconducting diamagnetisms and Hall coefficients have been measured. 75As- and 135La-NMR studies have also been carried out In spite of the successful Co-doping, we have not found any meaningful correlation of Tc with y, which indicates that the Tc-suppression by Co-doping is considered not to be so significant as expected for superconductors with nodes. Even for superconductors without nodes, it may not be easy to expect this small effect on Tc, if there are two different (disconnected) Ferm…
We investigate the electronic states of a one-dimensional two-orbital Hubbard model with band splitting by the exact diagonalization method. The Luttinger liquid parameter $K_ρ$ is calculated to obtain superconducting (SC) phase diagram as a function of on-site interactions: the intra- and inter-orbital Coulomb $U$ and $U'$, the Hund coupling $J$, and the pair transfer $J'$. In this model, electron and hole Fermi pockets are produced when the Fermi level crosses both the upper and lower orbital bands. We find that the system shows two types of SC phases, the SC \Roman{u'-large} for $U>U'$ and …
We report $^{57}$Fe-NMR studies on the oxygen-deficient iron (Fe)-based oxypnictide superconductor LaFeAsO$_{0.7}$ ($T_{c}=$ 28 K) enriched by $^{57}$Fe isotope. In the superconducting state, the spin component of $^{57}$Fe-Knight shift $^{57}K$ decreases almost to zero at low temperatures and the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate $^{57}(1/T_{1})$ exhibits a $T^{3}$-like dependence without the coherence peak just below $T_{c}$, which give firm evidence of the unconventional superconducting state formed by spin-singlet Cooper pairing. All these events below $T_c$ are consistently argued in t…
Realizations of Majorana fermions in solid state materials have attracted great interests recently in connection to topological order and quantum information processing. We propose a novel way to create Majorana fermions in superconductors. We show that an incipient non-collinear magnetic order turns a spin-singlet superconductor with nodes into a topological superconductor with a stable Majorana bound state in the vortex core; at a topologically-stable magnetic point defect; and on the edge. We argue that such an exotic non-Abelian phase can be realized in extended t-J models on the triangula…
We study the Andreev bound states in a Josephson junction between a singlet and a triplet superconductors. Because of the mismatch in the spin symmetries of pairing, the energies of the spin up and down quasiparticles are generally different. This results in imbalance of spin populations and net spin accumulation at the junction in equilibrium. This effect can be detected using probes of local magnetic field, such as the scanning SQUID, Hall, and Kerr probes. It may help to identify potential triplet pairing in $\rm(TMTSF)_2X$, $\rm Sr_2RuO_4$, and oxypnictides.
The newly discovered oxypnictide family of superconductors show very high critical temperatures of up to 55K. Whilst there is growing evidence that suggests a nodal order parameter, point contact Andreev reflection spectroscopy can provide crucial information such as the gap value and possibly the number of energy gaps involved. For the oxygen deficient NdFeAsO0.85 with a Tc of 45.5K, we show that there is clearly a gap value at 4.2K that is of the order of 7meV, consistent with previous studies on oxypnictides with lower Tc. Additionally, taking the spectra as a function of gold tip contact p…
We present differential conductance measurements of Cobalt / Cobalt-Oxide / Indium planar junctions, 500nm x 500nm in size. The junctions span a wide range of barriers, from very low to a tunnel barrier. The characteristic conductance of all the junctions show a V-shape structure at low bias instead of the U-shape characteristic of a s-wave order parameter. The bias of the conductance peaks is, for all junctions, larger than the gap of indium. Both properties exclude pure s-wave pairing. The data is well fitted by a model that assumes the coexistence of s-wave singlet and equal spin p-wave tri…
Landau levels (LL) have been predicted to emerge in systems with Dirac nodal points under applied non-uniform strain. We consider 2D, $d_{xy}$ singlet (2D-S) and 3D $p \pm i p$ equal-spin triplet (3D-T) superconductors (SCs). We demonstrate the spinful Majorana nature of the bulk gapless zeroth-LLs. Strain along certain directions can induce two topologically distinct phases in the bulk, with zeroth LLs localized at the the interface. These modes are unstable toward ferromagnetism for 2D-S cases. Emergent real-space Majorana fermions in 3D-T allow for more exotic possibilities.
Since the discovery of high transition-temperature (Tc) superconductivity in copper oxides two decades ago, continuous efforts have been devoted to searching for similar phenomenon in other compounds. With the exception of MgB2 (Tc =39 K), however, Tc is generally far lower than desired. Recently, breakthrough has been made in a new class of oxypnictide compounds. Following the initial discovery of superconductivity in LaO1-x FxFeAs (Tc =26 K), Tc onset has been raised to 55 K in ReO1-xFxFeAs (Re: Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm). Meanwhile, unravelling the nature of the energy associated with the formation of…
We investigate the impact of s-wave spin-singlet pairing on antiferromagnetic semimetals with Dirac points or nodal loops at the Fermi level. The electron pairing is generally shown to convert the semimetal into a tunable nodal superconductor. The changeover from fully gapped to gapless phases is dictated by symmetry properties of the antiferromagnetic-superconducting state that set the occurrence of a large variety of electronic topological transitions. We provide a general criterion for predicting a series of transitions between nodal and fully gapped superconducting phases. Different types …
Weyl nodal loop semimetals (WNLs) host a closed nodal line loop Fermi surface in the bulk, protected zero-energy flat band, or drumhead, surface states, and strong spin-polarization. The large density of states of the drumhead states makes WNL semimetals exceedingly prone to electronic ordering. At the same time, the spin-polarization naively prevents conventional superconductivity due to its spin-singlet nature. Here we show the complete opposite: WNLs are extremely promising materials for superconducting Josephson junctions, entirely due to odd-frequency superconductivity. By sandwiching a W…
The bulge in the doping dependence of the basal plane area in hole doped cuprate superconductors is connected with a non-double-occupancy constraint for the oxygen cages in the CuO_2 lattice. This constraint favors the formation of 3a hole pairs growing to filaments with gapless excitations along the (pi, pi) direction. Thus in the pseudogap regime a nodal metal of hole pairs is created. Densest packed 3a hole pairs stabilize the optimum doped state at n =1/6 ~ 0.16.
We show that finite angular momentum pairing chiral superconductors on the triangular lattice have point zeroes in the complex gap function. A topological quantum phase transition takes place through a nodal superconducting state at a specific carrier density $x_c$ where the normal state Fermi surface crosses the isolated zeros. For spin singlet pairing, we show that the second nearest neighbor $d+id$-wave pairing can be the dominant pairing channel. The gapless critical state at $x_c\simeq0.25$ has six Dirac points and is topologically nontrivial with a $T^3$ spin relaxation rate below $T_c$.…
The organic materials (TMTSF)2X are unique unconventional superconductors with archetypal quasi-one-dimensional (Q1D) electronic structures. Here, based on our comprehensive field-angle-resolved calorimetry of (TMTSF)2ClO4, we succeeded in mapping the nodal gap structure for the first time in Q1D systems, by discriminating between the Fermi wavevectors and Fermi velocities. In addition, the thermodynamic phase diagrams of (TMTSF)2ClO4 for all principal field directions are obtained. These findings, providing strong evidence of nodal spin-singlet superconductivity, serves as solid bases for fur…
In this study, we examine the superconducting instability of a quasi-one-dimensional lattice in the Hubbard model based on the random-phase approximation (RPA) and the fluctuation exchange (FLEX) approximation. We find that a spin-singlet pair density wave (PDW-singlet) with a center-of-mass momentum of $2k_F$ can be stabilized when the one-dimensionality becomes prominent toward the perfect nesting of the Fermi surface. The obtained pair is a mixture of even-frequency and odd-frequency singlet ones. The dominant even-frequency component does not have nodal lines on the Fermi surface. This PDW…
A topological argument is presented for nodal structures of superconducting states with time-reversal invariance. A generic Hamiltonian which describes a quasiparticle in superconducting states with time-reversal invariance is derived, and it is shown that only line nodes are topologically stable in single-band descriptions of superconductivity. Using the time-reversal symmetry, we introduce a real structure and define topological numbers of line nodes. Stability of line nodes is ensured by conservation of the topological numbers. Line nodes in high-Tc materials, the polar state in p-wave pari…
In this work, we show that a giant spin current can be injected into a nodal topological superconductor, using a normal paramagnetic lead, through a large number of zero energy Majorana fermions at the superconductor edge. The giant spin current is caused by the selective equal spin Andreev reflections (SESAR) induced by Majorana fermions. In each SESAR event, a pair of electrons with certain spin polarization are injected into the nodal topological superconductor, even though the pairing in the bulk of the nodal superconductor is spin-singlet s-wave. We further explain the origin of the spin …
Recent experiments have revealed the evidence of nodal-line superconductivity in half-Heusler superconductors, e.g. YPtBi. Theories have suggested the topological nature of such nodal-line superconductivity and proposed the existence of surface Majorana flat bands on the (111) surface of half-Heusler superconductors. Due to the divergent density of states of the surface Majorana flat bands, the surface order parameter and the surface impurity play essential roles in determining the surface properties. In this work, we studied the effect of the surface order parameter and the surface impurity o…
The leading superconducting instabilities of the two-dimensional extended repulsive one-band Hubbard model within spin-fluctuation pairing theory depend sensitively on electron density, band and interaction parameters. We map out the phase diagrams within a random phase approximation (RPA) spin- and charge-fluctuation approach, and find that while $B_{1g}$ ($d_{x^2-y^2}$) and $B_{2g}$ ($d_{xy}$) pairing dominates in the absence of repulsive longer-range Coulomb interactions $V_{\rm NN}$, the latter induces pairing in other symmetry channels, including e.g $A_{2g}$ ($g$-wave), nodal $A_{1g}$ (e…
We propose a mechanism for opening a full bulk energy gap and inducing vortex Majorana zero modes (MZMs) in nodal superconductors (SCs). We show that this becomes possible by coupling the nodal SC of interest to a magnetic texture crystal. The latter consists of superpositions of magnetic textures which repeat periodically in space according to suitable wave vectors that enable spin-flip scattering between all pairs of nodes of the SC, and thus open a full gap in its bulk energy spectrum. In this event, MZMs can be trapped in spin or shift vortices introduced in the magnetic texture crystal. O…
We investigate interplay between magnetic fluctuations and superconductivity in the effective five-band Hubbard model for iron-oxypnictide superconductors on the basis of the fluctuation-exchange approximation. As for the normal-state properties, we find the pseudogap behavior in the NMR relaxation rate and the spectral weight in the electron-doped region, while we cannot find such behavior in the hole-doped region. The pseudogap behavior originates from the band structure effect, that is, existence of high density of states just below the Fermi level. Solving the superconducting Eliashberg eq…
Non-centrosymmetric superconductors have recently attracted much attention, since the lack of inversion symmetry mixes spin singlet and triplet pairing states, which may allow the realization of topological superconductivity. In this work, we study the electronic properties of the family of inversion-broken CeTX$_3$ heavy-fermion superconductors, finding topological nodal lines as well as Dirac and Weyl points, which are renormalized closer to the Fermi energy by correlations. We find that the Weyl nodal lines have a substantial effect on the Fermi surface spin structure of the normal state, a…
A key question in high temperature iron-based superconductivity is the mechanism by which the paired electrons minimize their strong mutual Coulomb repulsion. While electronically paired superconductors generally avoid the Coulomb interaction through the formation of nodal, higher angular momentum pairs, iron based superconductors appear to form singlet s-wave (s$^{\pm}$) pairs. By taking the orbital degrees of freedom of the iron atoms into account, here we argue that the s$^{\pm}$ state in these materials possesses internal d-wave structure, in which a relative d-wave ($L=2$) motion of the p…
Distinguishing nodal and nonunitary superconductivity in quasiparticle interference of an Ising superconductor with Rashba spin-orbit coupling: an example of NbSe$_2$
We theoretically predict proximity-induced odd-frequency (odd-$ω$) pairing on the surface of a Weyl nodal loop semimetal, characterized by a nodal loop Fermi surface and drumhead-like surface states (DSSs), attached to conventional spin-singlet $s$-wave superconducting leads. Due to the complete spin polarization of the DSS, odd-$ω$ equal-spin triplet pairing is present, and we show that it gives rise to a finite Josephson current. Placing an additional ferromagnet in the junction can also generate odd-$ω$ mixed-spin triplet pairing, but the pairing and current is not affected if the magnetiza…
A wave function is proposed for the "$4\times 4$" inhomogeneous structures observed on cuprate superconductors. It is based on the Gutzwiller-RVB technique proposed in recent papers, and consists of a Wigner solid of hole pairs embedded in a sea of d-wave spin singlet pairs. Arguments are given that the nodal quasiparticles may remain unscattered and even superconducting on such a structure.
Sr$_2$RuO$_4$ has been under intensive scrutiny over the past years after new NMR measurements unveiled that the superconducting state might be a spin singlet. One of the best order parameter candidates in light of these new experiments is a chiral d-wave state with $d_{xz}+id_{yz}$ symmetry. This order parameter has been overlooked given the strong two-dimensional character of the normal state electronic structure. Recently, a phenomenological proposal based on local interactions with a three-dimensional electronic structure showed that a chiral d-wave state can be stable in Sr$_2$RuO$_4$ onc…
Motivated by the strong, low temperature damping of nodal quasiparticles observed in some cuprate superconductors, we study quantum phase transitions in d_{x^2-y^2} superconductors with a spin-singlet, zero momentum, fermion bilinear order parameter. We present a complete, group-theoretic classification of such transitions into 7 distinct cases (including cases with nematic order) and analyze fluctuations by the renormalization group. We find that only 2, the transitions to d_{x^2-y^2}+is and d_{x^2-y^2} + i d_{xy} pairing, possess stable fixed points with universal damping of nodal quasiparti…
The magnetic penetration depth $λ(T)$ and the upper critical field $% μ_{0}H_{c2}(T_{c})$ of the non-centrosymmetric (NCS) superconductor Y$_{2} $C$_{3}$ have been measured using a tunnel-diode (TDO) based resonant oscillation technique. We found that the penetration depth $λ(T)$ and its corresponding superfluid density $ρ_{s}(T)$ show linear temperature dependence at very low temperatures ($T\ll T_{c}$), indicating the existence of line nodes in the superconducting energy gap. Moreover, the upper critical field $μ_{0}H_{c2}(T_{c})$ presents an upturn at low temperatures with a rather high val…
We use inelastic neutron scattering to study the crystalline electric field (CEF) excitations of Ce$^{3+}$ in CeFeAsO$_{1-x}$F$_{x}$($x=0,0.16$). For nonsuperconducting CeFeAsO, the Ce CEF levels have three magnetic doublets in the paramagnetic state, but these doublets split into six singlets when Fe ions order antiferromagnetically. For superconducting CeFeAsO$_{0.84}$F$_{0.16}$ ($T_c=41$ K), where the static AF order is suppressed, the Ce CEF levels have three magnetic doublets at $\hbarω=0,18.7,58.4$ meV at all temperatures. Careful measurements of the intrinsic linewidth $Γ$ and the peak …
Multi-component electronic systems can appear in solid state systems with active orbital band structures. They exhibit richer structures of topological superconductivity beyond the conventional scenarios of spin singlet and triplet pairings in spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ systems. Examples include the half-Heusler compounds RPtBi series (R for a rare earth element), whose electronic structures are described by the effective Luttinger-Kohn model with spin-$\frac{3}{2}$ fermions exhibiting strong spin-orbit coupling and band conversion. Recent experiments provide evidence to unconventional superconductivi…
Group theoretical technique for construction of two-electron wavefunctions with zero total momentum in solids based on the Mackey theorem on symmetrized squares is developed. These states correspond to singlet and triplet Cooper pairs. The nodal structure of these states is investigated group theoretically and compared with experimental data for unconventional superconductors. It is shown that when the Mackey theorem is applied twice, the main four-electron states in solids can be constructed. Possible connection of these states with experimental data is discussed.
Time-reversal invariant superconductors having nodes of vanishing excitation gap support zero-energy boundary states with topological protection. Existing expressions for the topological invariant are given in terms of the Hamiltonian of an infinite system. We give an alternative formulation in terms of the Andreev reflection matrix of a normal-metal-superconductor interface. This allows to relate the topological invariant to the angle-resolved Andreev conductance, also when the boundary state in the superconductor has merged with the continuum of states in the normal metal. A variety of symme…
Recent nuclear magnetic resonance studies [A. Pustogow {\it et al.}, arXiv:1904.00047] have challenged the prevalent chiral triplet pairing scenario proposed for Sr$_2$RuO$_4$. To provide guidance from microscopic theory as to which other pair states might be compatible with the new data, we perform a detailed theoretical study of spin-fluctuation mediated pairing for this compound. We map out the phase diagram as a function of spin-orbit coupling, interaction parameters, and band-structure properties over physically reasonable ranges, comparing when possible with photoemission and inelastic n…
An unconventional pairing mechanism in the heavy-fermion material $\mathrm{URu_{2}Si_{2}}$ is studied. We propose a mixed singlet-triplet $d$-density wave to be the hidden-order state in $\mathrm{URu_{2}Si_{2}}$. The exotic order is topologically nontrivial and supports a charge $2e$ skyrmionic spin texture, which is assumed to fractionalize into merons and antimerons at the deconfined quantum critical point. The interaction between these fractional particles results in a (pseudo)spin-singlet chiral $d$-wave superconducting state, which breaks time reversal symmetry. Therefore, it is highly li…
In non-centrosymmetric superconductors, spin-orbit coupling can induce an unconventional superconducting state with a mixture of s-wave spin-singlet and p-wave spin-triplet channels, which leads to a variety of exotic phenomena, including anisotropic upper critical field, magnetoelectric effect, topological superconductivity, et al. It is commonly thought that inversion symmetry breaking is substantial for pairing-mixed superconducting states. In this work, we theoretically propose that a new type of pairing-mixed state, namely the mixture of s-wave spin-singlet and d-wave spin-quintet channel…
We compare the quasiparticle lifetime behavior in the unitary limit of two unconventional superconductors dressed by non-magnetic impurity scattering to differentiate an anomalous functional behavior in its shape when the disorder concentration is changed in a triplet paired model with respect to the well behave singlet model. For singlet paired superconductors, the functional shape of the lifetime due to elastic scattering around the nodal regions does not change with the change of the disorder concentration, but for a triplet model with a tiny gap, an anomalous drop in shape is observed only…
We propose a generic scenario for realizing gapful topological superconductors (TSCs) from gapless spin-singlet superconductors (SCs). Noncentrosymmetric nodal SCs in two dimension are shown to be gapful under a Zeeman field, as a result of the cooperation of inversion-symmetry breaking and time-reversal-symmetry breaking. In particular, non-s-wave SCs acquire a large excitation gap. Such paramagnetically-induced gapful SCs may be classified into TSCs in the symmetry class D specified by the Chern number. We show nontrivial Chern numbers over a wide parameter range for spin-singlet SCs. A vari…
The possible superconducting states of strontium ruthenate (Sr$_2$RuO$_4$) are organized into irreducible representations of the point group $D_{4h}$, with a special emphasis on nodes occurring within the superconducting gap. Our analysis covers the cases with and without spin-orbit coupling and takes into account the possibility of inter-orbital pairing within a three-band, tight-binding description of Sr$_2$RuO$_4$. No dynamical treatment if performed: we are confining ourselves to a group-theoretical analysis. The case of uniaxial deformations, under which the point group symmetry is reduce…
We consider the most energetically favorable symmetry-allowed spin-singlet and spin-triplet superconducting pairing symmetries in monolayer and few-layer graphene, and for each calculate the energy spectrum in the presence of a scalar or magnetic impurity. We find that two doubly degenerate subgap states exist for scalar impurities for all types of pairing, except for the spin-singlet $s$-wave state. For magnetic impurities, two or four subgap states may form depending on the order parameter symmetry. We find that the spin polarization of these states allows one to distinguish between spin-sin…
We show that the newly discovered BiS$_2$-based superconductors may have a dominant triplet pairing component, in addition to a subdominant singlet component arising from the spin-orbital coupling. The pairing respects time-reversal symmetry. The dominant triplet gap causes gap sign changes between the spin-split Fermi pockets. Within a pocket, the gap function respects $d^*_{x^2-y^2}$-wave symmetry, where the star indicates joint spin-lattice rotations. Below the Lifshitz filling level the gap is nodelss and the superconducting state is weak topological. Above the Lifshitz points the gap beco…
We construct the symmetry adapted low energy effective Hamiltonian for the electronic states in the vicinity of the Fermi level in iron based superconductors. We use Luttinger's method of invariants, expanding about Gamma and M points in the Brillouin zone corresponding to two iron unit cell, and then matching the coefficients of the expansion to the 5- and 8-band models. We then use the method of invariants to study the effects of the spin-density wave order parameters on the electronic spectrum, with and without spin-orbit coupling included. Among the results of this analysis is the finding …
We investigate the potential existence of a superconducting phase in $5d$ Mott insulators with an eye to hole doped Sr$_2$IrO$_4$. Using a mean-field method, a mixed singlet-triplet superconductivity, $d + p$, is observed due to the antisymmetric exchange originating from a quasi-spin-orbit-coupling. Our calculation on ribbon geometry shows possible existence of the topologically protected edge states, because of nodal structure of the superconducting gap. These edge modes are spin polarized and emerge as zero-energy flat bands, supporting a symmetry protected Majorana states, verified by eval…
Noncentrosymmetric superconductors (NCSs), characterized by antisymmetric spin-orbit coupling and a mixture of spin-singlet and spin-triplet pairing components, are promising candidate materials for topological superconductivity. An important hallmark of topological superconductors is the existence of protected zero-energy states at surfaces or in vortex cores. Here we investigate Majorana vortex-bound states in three-dimensional nodal and fully gapped NCSs by combining analytical solutions of Bogoliubov-de Gennes (BdG) equations in the continuum with exact diagonalization of BdG Hamiltonians.…
We generalize the theory of Cooper pairing by spin excitations in the metallic antiferromagnetic state to include situations with electron and/or hole pockets. We show that Cooper pairing arises from transverse spin waves and from gapped longitudinal spin fluctuations of comparable strength. However, each of these interactions, projected on a particular symmetry of the superconducting gap, acts primarily within one type of pocket. We find a nodeless $d_{x^2-y^2}$-wave state is supported primarily by the longitudinal fluctuations on the electron pockets, and both transverse and longitudinal flu…
We propose a route to achieve odd-parity spin-triplet superconductivity in metallic collinear antiferromagnets with inversion symmetry. Owing to the existence of hidden antiunitary symmetry, which we call the effective time-reversal symmetry (eTRS), the Fermi surfaces of ordinary antiferromagnetic metals are generally spin-degenerate, and spin-singlet pairing is favored. However, by introducing a local inversion symmetry breaking perturbation that also breaks the eTRS, we can lift the degeneracy to obtain spin-polarized Fermi surfaces. In the weak-coupling limit, the spin-polarized Fermi surfa…
One of the outstanding questions in the study of twisted bilayer graphene -- from both experimental and theoretical points of view -- is the nature of its superconducting phase. In this work we perform a comprehensive synthesis of existing experiments, and argue that experimental constraints are strong enough to allow the structure of the superconducting order parameter to be nearly uniquely determined. In particular, we argue that the order parameter is nodal, and is formed from an admixture of spin-singlet and spin-triplet Cooper pairs. This argument is made on phenomenological grounds, with…
Bogoliubov Fermi surfaces are contours of zero-energy excitations that are protected in the superconducting state. Here we show that multiband superconductors with dominant spin singlet, intraband pairing of spin-1/2 electrons can undergo a transition to a state with Bogoliubov Fermi surfaces if spin-orbit coupling, interband pairing and time reversal symmetry breaking are also present. These latter effects may be small, but drive the transition to the topological state for appropriate nodal structure of the intra-band pair. Such a state should display nonzero zero-bias density of states and c…
For a noncentrosymmetric superconductor such as Y$_2$C$_3$, we consider a parity-mixing model composed of spin-singlet s-wave and spin-triplet f-wave pairing components. The $d$-vector in f-wave state is chosen to be parallel to the Dresselhaus asymmetric spin-orbit coupling vector. It is found that, the quasiparticle excitation spectrum exhibits distinct nodal structure as a consequence of parity-mixing. Our calculation predict anomalous noninteger power laws for low-temperature nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate $T_{1}^{-1}$. We demonstrate particularly that such a model can qualitatively …
