We give a sufficient condition for a Verdier quotient $\ct/\cs$ of a triangulated category $\ct$ by a thick subcategory $\cs$ to be realized inside of $\ct$ as an ideal quotient. As applications, we deduce three significant results by Buchweitz, Orlov and Amiot--Guo--Keller.
Let U be a unipotent group over the field of complex numbers C, acting on a complex algebraic variety X. Assume that there exists a surjective morphism of complex algebraic varieties f: X --> Y whose fibres are orbits of U. We show that if X and Y are smooth and all orbits of U in X have the same dimension, then the induced map on C-points X(C) --> Y(C) is a homotopy equivalence. Moreover, if U, X, Y, and f are defined over the field of real numbers R, then the induced map on R-points X(R) --> Y(R) is surjective and induces homotopy equivalences on connected components.
Given a certain kind of linear representation of a reductive group, referred to as a quasi-symmetric representation in recent work of Špenko and Van den Bergh, we construct equivalences between the derived categories of coherent sheaves of its various geometric invariant theory (GIT) quotients for suitably generic stability parameters. These variations of GIT quotient are examples of more complicated wall crossings than the balanced wall crossings studied in recent work on derived categories and variation of GIT quotients. Our construction is algorithmic and quite explicit, allowing us to: 1) …
We develop techniques of mimicking the Frobenius action in the study of universal homeomorphisms in mixed characteristic. As a consequence, we show a mixed characteristic Keel's base point free theorem obtaining applications towards the mixed characteristic Minimal Model Program, we generalise Kollár's theorem on the existence of quotients by finite equivalence relations to mixed characteristic, and we provide a new proof of the existence of quotients by affine group schemes.
In this note we prove that a conjectural formula for the class $λ_g \mathrm{DR}_g(a,-a)\in R^{2g}(\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{g,2})$ proposed recently by Buryak-Iglesias-Shadrin is true in the Gorenstein quotient of the ring $R^*(\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{g,2})$. As a corollary we prove the strong $\mathrm{DR} \backslash \mathrm{DZ}$ equivalence conjecture for one-point correlators.
