For a finite subgroup G in SL(3,C), Bridgeland, King and Reid proved that the moduli space of G-clusters is a crepant resolution of the quotient C^3/G. This paper considers the moduli spaces M_θ, introduced by Kronheimer and further studied by Sardo Infirri, which coincide with G-Hilb for a particular choice of the GIT parameter θ. For G Abelian, we prove that every projective crepant resolution of C^3/G is isomorphic to M_θfor some parameter θ. The key step is the description of GIT chambers in terms of the K-theory of the moduli space via the appropriate Fourier--Mukai transform. We also uncover explicit equivalences between the derived categories of moduli M_θfor parameters lying in adjacent GIT chambers.

Let $G$ be a polyhedral group $G\subset SO(3)$ of types $\mathbb{Z}/n\mathbb{Z}$, $D_{2n}$ and $\mathbb{T}$. We prove that there exists a one-to-one correspondence between flops of $G$-Hilb$\mathbb{C}^3$ and mutations of the McKay quiver with potential which do not mutate the trivial vertex. This correspondence provides two equivalent methods to construct every projective crepant resolution for the singularities $\mathbb{C}^3/G$, which are constructed as moduli spaces $\mathcal{M}_C$ of quivers with potential for some chamber $C$ in the space $Θ$ of stability conditions. In addition, we study …
We study wall-crossing phenomena in the McKay correspondence. Craw-Ishii show that every projective crepant resolution of a Gorenstein abelian quotient singularity arises as a moduli space of $θ$-stable representations of the McKay quiver. The stability condition $θ$ moves in a vector space with a chamber decomposition in which (some) wall-crossings capture flops between different crepant resolutions. We investigate where chambers for certain resolutions with Hilbert scheme-like moduli interpretations - iterated Hilbert schemes, or 'Hilb of Hilb' - sit relative to the principal chamber definin…
We prove a formula for Chow groups of $Quot$-schemes which resolve degeneracy loci of a map between vector bundles, under expected dimension conditions. This result provides a unified way to understand known formulae for various geometric situations such as blowups, Cayley's trick, projectivizations, Grassmannian bundles, flops from Springer type resolutions, as well as provide new phenomena such as formulae for Grassmannain type flips/flops and virtual flips. We also give applications to blowups of determinantal ideals, moduli spaces of linear series on curves, and Hilbert schemes of points o…
In the setting of a variety $X$ admitting a tilting bundle $T$ we consider the problem of constructing $X$ as a quiver GIT quotient of the endomorphism algebra $A=\textrm{End}_X(T)^{\textrm{op}}$ corresponding to the tilting bundle. We prove that if the tilting equivalence restricts to a bijection between the skyscraper sheaves of $X$ and the closed points of a quiver GIT moduli functor for $A$ then $X$ is indeed a fine moduli space for this quiver GIT moduli functor, and we prove this result without any assumptions on the singularities of $X$. As an application we consider varieties which are…
The aim of this note is to announce some results on the GIT problem for the Hilbert and Chow scheme of curves of degree d and genus g in P^{d-g}, whose full details will appear in a subsequent paper. In particular, we extend the previous results of L. Caporaso up to d>4(2g-2) and we observe that this is sharp. In the range 2(2g-2)<d<7/2(2g-2), we get a complete new description of the GIT quotient. As a corollary, we get a new compactification of the universal Jacobian over the moduli space of pseudo-stable curves.
We present our recent understanding on resolutions of Gorenstein orbifolds, which involves the finite group representation theory. We shall concern only the quotient singularity of hypersurface type. The abelian group $A_r(n)$ for $A$-type hypersurface quotient singularity of dimension $n$ is introduced. For $n=4$, the structure of Hilbert scheme of group orbits and crepant resolutions of $A_r(4)$-singularity are obtained. The flop procedure of 4-folds is explicitly constructed through the process.
We give explicit equations for the Chow and Hilbert quotients of a projective scheme X by the action of an algebraic torus T in an auxiliary toric variety. As a consequence we provide GIT descriptions of these canonical quotients, and obtain other GIT quotients of X by variation of GIT quotient. We apply these results to find equations for the moduli space \bar{M}_{0,n} of stable genus zero n-pointed curves as a subvariety of a smooth toric variety defined via tropical methods.
We show that the Hilbert scheme of curves and Le Potier's moduli space of stable pairs with one dimensional support have a common GIT construction. The two spaces correspond to chambers on either side of a wall in the space of GIT linearisations. We explain why this is not enough to prove the "DT/PT wall crossing" conjecture relating the invariants derived from these moduli spaces when the underlying variety is a 3-fold. We then give a gentle introduction to a small part of Joyce's theory for such wall crossings, and use it to give a short proof of an identity relating the Euler characteristic…
We construct the Hilbert compactification of the universal moduli space of semistable vector bundles over smooth curves. The Hilbert compactification is the GIT quotient of some open part of an appropriate Hilbert scheme of curves in a Grassmannian. It has all the properties asked for by Teixidor.
The purpose of this article is to give an overview of the construction of moduli spaces of curves from the viewpoint of the log minimal model program for M_g by providing an update of recent developments and discussing future problems. This survey is distinguished from the recent articles of Fedorchuk-Smyth and Morrison in its focus on low degree Hilbert stability of curves.
We consider geometrical problems on Gorenstein hypersurface orbifolds of dimension $n \geq 4$ through the theory of Hilbert scheme of group orbits. For a linear special group $G$ acting on $\CZ^n$, we study the $G$-Hilbert scheme, $\hl^G(\CZ^n)$, and crepant resolutions of $\CZ^n/G$ for $G$=the $A$-type abelian group $ A_r(n)$. For $n=4$, we obtain the explicit structure of $\hl^{A_r(4)}(\CZ^4)$. The crepant resolutions of $\CZ^4/A_r(4)$ are constructed through their relation with $\hl^{A_r(4)}(\CZ^4)$, and the connections between these crepant resolutions are found by the "flop" procedure of …
We give a geometric invariant theory (GIT) construction of the log canonical model $\bar M_g(α)$ of the pairs $(\bar M_g, αδ)$ for $α\in (7/10 - ε, 7/10]$ for small $ε\in \mathbb Q_+$. We show that $\bar M_g(7/10)$ is isomorphic to the GIT quotient of the Chow variety bicanonical curves; $\bar M_g(7/10-ε)$ is isomorphic to the GIT quotient of the asymptotically-linearized Hilbert scheme of bicanonical curves. In each case, we completely classify the (semi)stable curves and their orbit closures. Chow semistable curves have ordinary cusps and tacnodes as singularities but do not admit elliptic t…
This largely expository paper first gives an introduction to Hilbert stability and its use in Gieseker's GIT construction of $\overline{M}_g$. Then I review recent work in this area--variants for unpointed curves that arise in Hassett's log minimal model program, starting with Schubert's moduli space of pseudostable curves, and constructions for weighted pointed stable curves and for pointed stable maps due to Swinarski and to Baldwin and Swinarski respectively. The focus is on the steps at which new ideas are needed. Finally, I list open problems in the area, particularly some arising in the …
We study a Fourier-Mukai kernel associated to a GIT wall-crossing for arbitrarily singular (not necessarily reduced or irreducible) affine varieties over any field. This kernel is closely related to a derived fiber product diagram for the wall-crossing and simple to understand from the viewpoint of commutative differential graded algebras. However, from the perspective of algebraic varieties, the kernel can be quite complicated, corresponding to a complex with multiple homology sheaves. Under mild assumptions in the Calabi-Yau case, we prove that this kernel provides an equivalence between the…
Here I give a direct proof that smooth curves with distinct marked points are asymptotically Hilbert stable with respect to a wide range of parameter spaces and linearizations. This result can be used to construct the coarse moduli space of Deligne-Mumford stable pointed curves \bar M_g,n and Hassett's moduli spaces of weighted pointed curves \bar M_g,A (though the full construction of the moduli spaces is not contained in this paper, only the stability proof). My proof follows Gieseker's approach to reduce to the GIT problem to a combinatorial problem, though the solution is very different. T…
A Calabi-Yau orbifold is locally modeled on C^n/G where G is a finite subgroup of SL(n, C). In dimension n=3 a crepant resolution is given by Nakamura's G-Hilbert scheme. This crepant resolution has a description as a GIT/symplectic quotient. We use tools from global analysis to give a geometrical generalization of the McKay Correspondence to this case.
We provide a construction of 81 symplectic resolutions of a 4-dimensional quotient singularity obtained by an action of a group of order 32. The existence of such resolutions is known by a result of Bellamy and Schedler. Our explicit construction is obtained via GIT quotient of the spectrum of a ring graded in the Picard group generated by the divisors associated to the conjugacy classes of symplectic reflections of the group in question. As the result we infer the geometric structure of these resolutions and their flops. Moreover, we represent the group in question as a group of automorphisms…
We study the Borel moment map $μ_B:T^*(\mathfrak{b}\times \mathbb{C}^n)\rightarrow \mathfrak{b}^*$, given by $(r,s,i,j)\mapsto [r,s]+ij$, and describe our algorithm to construct the geometric invariant theory (GIT) quotients $μ_B^{-1}(0)/\!\!/_{\det}B$ and $μ_B^{-1}(0)/\!\!/_{\det^{-1}}B$, and the affine quotient $μ_B^{-1}(0)/\!\!/B$. We also provide an insight of the singular locus of $2^n$ irreducible components of $μ_B$. Finally, analogous to the Hilbert--Chow morphism, we discuss that the GIT quotient for the Borel setting is a resolution of singularities.
For a finite subgroup $Γ\subset \mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb{C})$ and for $n\geq 1$, we use variation of GIT quotient for Nakajima quiver varieties to study the birational geometry of the Hilbert scheme of $n$ points on the minimal resolution $S$ of the Kleinian singularity $\mathbb{C}^2/Γ$. It is well known that $X:=\mathrm{Hilb}^{[n]}(S)$ is a projective, crepant resolution of the symplectic singularity $\mathbb{C}^{2n}/Γ_n$, where $Γ_n=Γ\wr\mathfrak{S}_n$ is the wreath product. We prove that every projective, crepant resolution of $\mathbb{C}^{2n}/Γ_n$ can be realised as the fine moduli space of $…
