Spherically symmetric expansionfree distributions are systematically studied. The whole set of field equations and junction conditions are presented for a general distribution of dissipative anisotropic fluid (principal stresses unequal), and the expansionfree condition is integrated. In order to understand the physical meaning of expansionfree motion, two different definitions for the radial velocity of a fluid element are discussed. It is shown that the appearance of a cavity is inevitable in the expansionfree evolution. The nondissipative case is considered in detail and the Skripkin model is recovered.
We construct a model of a universe filled with a perfect fluid with isotropic particle pressure. The anisotropic plane symmetric Kasner spacetime is used as a seed metric and through a conformal mapping a perfect fluid is generated. The model is inhomogeneous, irrotational, shearing and accelerating. For negative time, the universe is expanding while for positive time it is collapsing. With the aid of graphical three dimensional plots it is established that the density and pressure hypersurfaces are smooth and singularity free. Additionally the sound-speed index is computed and the fluid obeys…
We investigate the behaviour of a relativistic spherically symmetric radiative star with an accelerating, expanding and shearing interior matter distribution in the presence of anisotropic pressures. The junction condition can be written in standard form in three cases: linear, Bernoulli and Riccati equations. We can integrate the boundary condition in each case and three classes of new solutions are generated. For particular choices of the metric we investigate the physical properties and consider the limiting behaviour for large values of time. The causal temperature can also be found explic…
An algorithm recently presented by Lake to obtain all static spherically symmetric perfect fluid solutions, is extended to the case of locally anisotropic fluids (principal stresses unequal). As expected, the new formalism requires the knowledge of two functions (instead of one) to generate all possible solutions. To illustrate the method some known cases are recovered.
In this paper, we study shearing spherically symmetric homogeneous density fluids in comoving coordinates. It is found that the expansion of the four-velocity of a perfect fluid is homogeneous, whereas its shear is generated by an arbitrary function of time M(t), related to the mass function of the distribution. This function is found to bear a functional relationship with density. The field equations are reduced to two coupled first order ordinary differential equations for the metric coefficients, g 11 and g 22. We have explored a class of solutions assuming that M is a linear function of th…
The full set of equations governing the evolution of self--gravitating spherically symmetric dissipative fluids with anisotropic stresses is deployed and used to carry out a general study on the behaviour of such systems, in the context of general relativity. Emphasis is given to the link between the Weyl tensor, the shear tensor, the anisotropy of the pressure and the density inhomogeneity. In particular we provide the general, necessary and sufficient, condition for the vanishing of the spatial gradients of energy density, which in turn suggests a possible definition of a gravitational arrow…
We construct conformastat spherically symmetric spacetimes representing anisotropic fluid matter distributions from given solutions of the Poisson's equation of Newtonian gravity and its corresponding circular speed profile. As simple examples, we present three families of spherically symmetric spacetimes which we apply in constructing new models of relativistic anisotropic thick spherical shells, and of relativistic galaxy models composite by a central spherical bulge, the thick disk and the dark matter halo, writing in this case the metric in cylindrical coordinates. Moreover, the geodesic m…
The purpose of this paper is to study the effects of dark energy on dynamics of the collapsing fluid within the framework of metric f(R) gravity. The fluid distribution is assumed to be locally anisotropic and undergoing dissipation in the form of heat flow, null radiations and shear viscosity. For this purpose, we take general spherical symmetric spacetime. Dynamical equations are obtained and also some special solutions are found by considering shearing expansionfree evolution of the fluid. It is found that dark energy affects the mass of the collapsing matter and rate of collapse but does n…
We have studied the dynamics of a cylindrical column of anisotropic, charged fluid which is experiencing dissipation in the form of heat flow, free-streaming radiation, and shearing viscosity, undergoing gravitational collapse. We calculate the Einstein-Maxwell field equations and, using the Darmois junction conditions, match the interior non-static cylindrically symmetric space-time with the exterior anisotropic, charged, cylindrically symmetric space-time. The behavior of the density, pressure and luminosity of the collapsing matter has been analyzed. From the dynamical equations, the effect…
An algorithm presented by K. Lake to obtain all static spherically symmetric perfect fluid solutions was recently extended by L. Herrera to the interesting case of locally anisotropic fluids (principal stresses unequal). In this work we develop an algorithm to construct all static spherically symmetric anisotropic solutions for general relativistic polytropes. Again the formalism requires the knowledge of only one function (instead of two) to generate all possible solutions. To illustrate the method some known cases are recovered.
The purpose of this paper is to obtain exact solutions for charged anisotropic spherically symmetric matter configuration. For this purpose, we consider known solution for isotropic spherical system in the presence of electromagnetic field and extend it to two types of anisotropic charged solutions through gravitational decoupling approach. We examine physical characteristics of the resulting models. It is found that only first solution is physically acceptable as it meets all the energy bounds as well as stability criterion. We conclude that stability of the first model is enhanced with the i…
The present work is an attempt to find possible traversable wormhole solutions in static spherically symmetric space-time supported by anisotropic matter field. Part of the work could be considered as a generalization of the work in Phys. Lett. B 757 (2016), 130 in the sense that it extends the work done therein. The paper provides several examples of wormholes in anisotropic pressure and provides general mechanisms for finding them. Finally the work examines the energy conditions corresponding to suggested wormhole solutions.
A new class of solution describing an anisotropic stellar configuration satisfying Karmarkar's condition i.e. spherically symmetric metric of embedding class 1, is reported. It has been shown that the compact star model is physically well-behaved and meet all the physical requirements for a stable configuration in hydrostatic equilibrium. Our model describes compact stars like Vela X-1 and 4U1608-52 to a very good approximation.
We study the geometry of a wormhole spacetime filled with anisotropic matter in the context of general relativity. In the course of the study, new static and spherically symmetric solutions, analytic and numerical ones, are found. We specify the existence condition for a wormhole throat. We analyze properties of the solutions after categorizing them based on the spacetime regularity and the signature of energy density. The necessary conditions which allow a wormhole spacetime to be nonsingular are described.
A class of exact solutions for the Einstein-Maxwell field equations are obtained by assuming the erstwhile cosmological constant $ Λ$ to be a space-variable scalar, viz., $ Λ=Λ(r) $. The source considered here is static, spherically symmetric and anisotropic charged fluid. The solutions obtained are matched continuously to the exterior Reissner-Nordström solution and each of the four solutions represents an electromagnetic mass model.
A class of spherical collapsing exact solutions with electromagnetic charge is derived. This class of solutions -- in general anisotropic -- contains however as a particular case the charged dust model already known in literature. Under some regularity assumptions that in the uncharged case give rise to naked singularities, it is shown that the process of shell focusing singularities avoidance -- already known for the dust collapse -- also takes place here, determing shell crossing effects or a completely regular solution.
This manuscript is devoted to study the combined effect of a viable model, f(R) = R + αR^n, and electromagnetic field on the instability range of gravitational collapse. We assume charged anisotropic fluid that dissipate energy via heat flow and discuss that electromagnetic field, density inhomogeneity, shear and phase transition on astrophysical bodies can be incorporated by locally anisotropic background. Dynamical equations help to investigate the evolution of self-gravitating objects and leads to the conclusion that adiabatic index depend upon the electromagnetic background, mass and radiu…
In this paper, we have investigated the non-adiabatic spherical gravitational collapse in the framework of the $f(R,T)$ theory of gravity with a locally anisotropic fluid that undergoes dissipation in the form of heat flux, free-streaming radiation, and shearing viscosity. The dynamical equations are analyzed in detail, both in the Newtonian and post-Newtonian regimes. Finally we couple the dynamical equations to the full causal transport equation in the context of Israel-Stewart theory of dissipative systems. This yields us a better understanding of the collapse dynamics and may be connected …
This paper is devoted to evaluating exact anisotropic spherical solutions for static self-gravitating systems through extended geometric deformation decoupling technique. For this purpose, we consider an isotropic Tolman IV solution and extend it to anisotropic domain by transforming both temporal as well as radial metric potentials. To examine the physical viability and stability of interior anisotropic solutions, we plot energy bounds, TOV equation, causality condition and adiabatic index for the stars Her X-I and PSR J 1416-2230. It is found that both obtained models show realistic behavior…
Tidal deformability of a coalescing neutron star subjected to an external tidal field plays an important role in our probe for the structure and properties of compact stars. In particular, the tidal love number provides valuable information about the external gravitational field responsible for deforming the star. In this article, we compute the tidal love number of a particular class of anisotropic stars and analyze the impacts of anisotropy and compactness on the tidal love number.
In this work a class of interior solution for Einstein field equations corresponding to a spherically symmetric anisotropic fluid sphere has been obtained under the assumption that the cosmological constant is spatially variable. The solution obtained has the characteristics that the pressure and the cosmological parameter vanish at the centre and at the boundary with a maximum value somewhere inside the body. It has been argued that a variable $ Λ$ is as much important physically in Astrophysics as in Cosmology.
A family of spherically symmetric solutions in the model with m-component anisotropic fluid is considered. The metric of the solution depends on parameters q_s, s = 1,...,m, relating radial pressures and the densities and contains (n -1)m parameters corresponding to Ricci-flat "internal space" metrics and obeying certain m(m-1)/2 ("orthogonality") relations. For q_s = 1 (for all s) and certian equations of state (p_i^s = \pm ρ^s) the metric coincides with the metric of intersecting black brane solution in the model with antisymmetric forms. A family of solutions with (regular) horizon correspo…
In this work we will analyse the complexity factor, proposed by L. Herrera, for spherically symmetric static matter distributions satisfying a polytropic equation through the gravitational decoupling method. Specifically, we will use the 2-step GD, which is a particular case of the extended geometric deformation (EGD), to obtain analytic polytropic solutions of Einstein's equations. In order to give an example, we construct a model satisfying a polytropic equation of state using Tolman IV as a seed solution.
In the present paper we develop an algorithm for all spherically symmetric anisotropic charged fluid distribution. Considering a new source function $ν(r)$ we find out a set of solutions which is physically well behaved and represent compact stellar models. A detailed study specifically shows that the models actually correspond to strange stars in terms of their mass and radius. In this connection we investigate about several physical properties like energy conditions, stability, mass-radius ratio, electric charge content, anisotropic nature and surface redshift through graphical plots and mat…
We investigate spherically symmetric spacetimes with an anisotropic fluid and discuss the existence and stability of a dividing shell separating expanding and collapsing regions. We find that the dividing shell is defined by a relation between the pressure gradients, both isotropic and anisotropic, and the strength of the fields induced by the Misner-Sharpe mass inside the separating shell and by the pressure fluxes. This balance is a generalization of the Tolman-Oppenheimer- Volkoff equilibrium condition which defines a local equilibrium condition, but conveys also a non- local character give…
We investigate the conformal geometry of spherically symmetric spacetimes in general without specifying the form of the matter distribution. The general conformal Killing symmetry is obtained subject to a number of integrability conditions. Previous results relating to static spacetimes are shown to be a special case of our solution. The general inheriting conformal symmetry vector, which maps fluid flow lines conformally onto fluid flow lines, is generated and the integrability conditions are shown to be satisfied. We show that there exists a hypersurface orthogonal conformal Killing vector i…
I use the Newtonian equation of hydrostatic equilibrium for an isotropic fluid sphere to generate exact anisotropic solutions of Einstein's equations. The input function is simply the density. An infinite number of regular solutions are constructed, some of which satisfy all the standard energy conditions. Two classes of these solutions generalize the Newtonian polytropes of index 0 and 1.
We introduce a physically important object, called the horizon function, in the study of geodesic collapse. It is closely related to the stellar characteristics and satisfies a simple Riccati equation. This equation is integrated and all of its solutions are found in terms of some generating functions. Previous solutions are regained and further investigated.
In this paper, we study the effects of modification of gravity on the problem of dynamical instability of the spherical relativistic anisotropic interiors. We have considered non-zero influence of expansion scalar throughout during the evolutionary phases of spherical geometry that led to the use of fluid stiffness parameter. The modified hydrostatic equation for the stellar anisotropic matter distributions is constructed and then solved by using radial perturbation scheme. Such a differential equation can be further used to obtain instability constraints at both weak field and post-Newtonian …
Einstein's equations are solved for spherically symmetric universes composed of dust with tangential pressure provided by angular momentum, L(R), which differs from shell to shell. The metric is given in terms of the shell label, R, and the proper time, tau, experienced by the dust particles. The general solution contains four arbitrary functions of R - M(R), L(R), E(R) and r(0,R). The solution is described by quadratures, which are in general elliptic integrals. It provides a generalization of the Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi solution. We present a discussion of the types of solution, and some examp…
Motivated by studies on gravitational lenses, we present an exact solution of the field equations of general relativity, which is static and spherically symmetric, has no mass but has a non-vanishing spacelike components of the stress-energy-momentum tensor. In spite of its strange nature, this solution provides with non-trivial descriptions of gravitational effects. We show that the main aspects found in the \emph{dark matter phenomena} can be satisfactorily described by this geometry. We comment on the relevance it could have to consider non-vanishing spacelike components of the stress-energ…
We study quasi-spherical Szekeres space-time (which possess no killing vectors) for perfect fluid, matter with tangential stress only and matter with anisotropic pressure respectively. In the first two cases cosmological solutions have been obtained and their asymptotic behaviour have been examined while for anisotropic pressure, gravitational collapse has been studied and the role of the pressure has been discussed.
We explore the evolutionary behaviors of compact objects in a modified gravitational theory with the help of structure scalars. Particularly, we consider the spherical geometry coupled with heat and radiation emitting shearing viscous matter configurations. We construct structure scalars by splitting the Riemann tensor orthogonally in $f(R,T)$ gravity with and without constant $R$ and $T$ constraints, where $R$ is the Ricci scalar and $T$ is the trace of the energy-momentum tensor. We investigate the influence of modification of gravity on the physical meaning of scalar functions for radiating…
In this work, we explore wormhole solutions in $f(R,T)$ theory of gravity, where $R$ is the scalar curvature and $T$ is the trace of stress-energy tensor of matter. To investigate this, we consider static spherically symmetric geometry with matter contents as anisotropic, isotropic and barotropic fluids in three separate cases. By taking into account Starobinsky $f(R)$ model , we analyze the behavior of energy conditions for these different kind of fluids. It is shown that the wormhole solutions can be constructed without exotic matter in few regions of spacetime. We also give the graphical il…
In order to study the type of collapse, mentioned in the title, we introduce a physically meaningful object, called the horizon function. It directly enters the expressions for many of the stellar characteristics. The main junction equation, which governs the collapse, transforms into a Riccati equation with simple coefficients for the horizon function. We integrate this equation in the geodesic case. The same is done in the general case when one or another of the coefficients vanish. It is shown how to build classes of star models in this formulation of the problem and simple solutions are gi…
In this article we obtain a new anisotropic solution for Einstein's field equation of embedding class one metric. The solution is representing the realistic objects such as $Her~X-1$ and $RXJ~1856-37$. We perform detailed investigation of both objects by solving numerically the Einstein field equations under with anisotropic pressure. The physical features of the parameters depend on the anisotropic factor i.e. if anisotropy is zero everywhere inside the star then the density and pressures will become zero and metric turns out to be flat. We report our results and compare with the above mentio…
Relativistic, spherically symmetric configurations consisting of a gravitating magnetized anisotropic fluid are studied. For such configurations, we obtain static equilibrium solutions with an axisymmetric, poloidal magnetic field produced by toroidal electric currents. The presence of such a field results in small deviations of the shape of the configuration from spherical symmetry. This in turn leads to the modification of an equation for the current and correspondingly to changes in the structure of the internal magnetic field for the systems supported by the anisotropic fluid, in contrast …
In this paper, we investigate anisotropic static spherically symmetric solutions in the framework of $f(\mathcal{G})$ gravity through gravitational decoupling approach. For this purpose, we consider Krori and Barua (known solution) isotropic interior solution for static spherically symmetric self-gravitating system and extend it to two types of anisotropic solutions. We examine the physical viability of our models through energy conditions, squared speed of sound and anisotropy parameter. It is found that the first solution is physically viable as it fulfills the energy bounds as well as stabi…
It is shown that an effective anisotropic spherically symmetric fluid model with heat flow can absorb the addition to a perfect fluid of pressure anisotropy, heat flow, bulk and shear viscosity, electric field and null fluid.
We investigate spherically symmetric spacetimes with an anisotropic fluid and discuss the existence and stability of a dividing shell separating expanding and collapsing regions. We resort to a 3+1 splitting and obtain gauge invariant conditions relating intrinsic spacetimes quantities to properties of the matter source. We find that the dividing shell is defined by a generalization of the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equilibrium condition. The latter establishes a balance between the pressure gradients, both isotropic and anisotropic, and the strength of the fields induced by the Misner-Sharp m…
We present a general method to obtain static anisotropic spherically symmetric solutions, satisfying a nonlocal equation of state, from known density profiles. This equation of state describes, at a given point, the components of the corresponding energy-momentum tensor not only as a function at that point, but as a functional throughout the enclosed configuration. In order to establish the physical aceptability of the proposed static family of solutions satisfying nonlocal equation of state,\textit{}we study the consequences imposed by the junction and energy conditions for anisotropic fluids…
We address the problem of finding static and spherically symmetric anisotropic compact stars in general relativity that admit conformal motions. The study is framed in the language of f(R) gravity theory in order to expose opportunity for further study in the more general theory. Exact solutions of compact stars are found under the assumption that spherically symmetric spacetimes which admits conformal motion with matter distribution anisotropic in nature. In this work, two cases have been studied for the existence of such solutions: first, we consider the model given by f(R) = R and then f(R)…
We consider an anisotropic search for the stochastic gravitational-wave (GW) background by decomposing the gravitational-wave sky into its spherical harmonics components. Previous analyses have used the diffraction limit to define the highest-order spherical harmonics components used in this search. We investigate whether the angular resolution of this search is indeed diffraction-limited by testing our ability to detect and localize simulated GW signals. We show that while using low-order spherical harmonics modes is optimal for initially detecting GW sources, the detected sources can be bett…
In this paper we show that any static and spherically symmetric anisotropic solution of the Einstein field equations can be thought as a system sourced by certain deformed isotropic system in the context of Minimal Geometric Deformation-decoupling approach. To be more precise, we developed a mechanism to obtain an isotropic solution from any anisotropic solution of the Einstein field equations. As an example, we implement the method to obtain the sources of a simple static anisotropic and spherically symmetric traversable wormhole.
We present a detailed analysis of a general relativistic static spherical symmetric distribution in which both the radial and tangential pressures follow a master polytropic equation of state that generalizes the standard treatment and avoids the appearance of singularities in the system. In particular, we find the corresponding Lane-Emden equation and integrate it for a wide range of values of the parameters involved. We explore the parameter space with the aim to find the set of parameters leading to reasonable physical solutions. Also, we considered the effect of spherically symmetric pertu…
In this paper, we examine static spherically symmetric wormhole solutions in generalized $f(R,ϕ)$ gravity. To do this, we consider three different kinds of fluids: anisotropic, barotropic and isotropic. We explore different $f(R,ϕ)$ models and inspect the energy conditions for all of those three fluids. It is found that under some models in this theory, it is possible to obtain wormhole solutions without requiring exotic matter. The discussion about the conditions where the standard energy conditions (WEC and NEC) are valid for the fluids is discussed in details. From our results and for our c…
The recently proposed definition of complexity for static and spherically symmetric self--gravitating systems [1], is extended to the fully dynamic situation. In this latter case we have to consider not only the complexity factor of the structure of the fluid distribution, but also the condition of minimal complexity of the pattern of evolution. As we shall see these two issues are deeply intertwined. For the complexity factor of the structure we choose the same as for the static case, whereas for the simplest pattern of evolution we assume the homologous condition. The dissipative and non-dis…
In this paper, we solve the field equations in metric f(R) gravity for Bianchi type VI_0 spacetime and discuss evolution of the expanding universe. We find two types of non-vacuum solutions by taking isotropic and anisotropic fluids as the source of matter and dark energy. The physical behavior of these solutions is analyzed and compared in the future evolution with the help of some physical and geometrical parameters. It is concluded that in the presence of isotropic fluid, the model has singularity at $\tilde{t}=0$ and represents continuously expanding shearing universe currently entering in…
Using both numerical and analytical tools we study various features of static, spherically symmetric solutions of the Einstein-Vlasov system. In particular, we investigate the possible shapes of their mass-energy density and find that they can be multi-peaked, we give numerical evidence and a partial proof for the conjecture that the Buchdahl inequality $\sup_{r > 0} 2 m(r)/r < 8/9$, $m(r)$ the quasi-local mass, holds for all such steady states--both isotropic {\em and} anisotropic--, and we give numerical evidence and a partial proof for the conjecture that for any given microscopic equation …
We study the evolution of cosmological event horizons in anisotropic Kasner universes in the presence of a positive cosmological constant by analyzing null geodesics. At later times, the asymptotic form of cosmological horizons is the same spherical surface as the de Sitter horizon. At the early times, however, it has non-spherical shape with its eccentricity decreases with time. The horizon area increases with time respecting the second law of thermodynamics. The initial shape of the cosmological horizon takes the form of a needle or pancake surface depending on the nature of the background s…
In this article, we present a class of relativistic solutions describing spherically symmetric and static anisotropic stars in hydrostatic equilibrium. For this purpose, we consider a particularized matric potential, namely, Buchdahl ansatz [Phys. Rev. D \textbf{116}, 1027 (1959).] which encompasses almost all the known analytic solutions to the spherically symmetric, static Einstein field equations(EFEs) with a perfect fluid source, including in particular the Vaidya-Tikekar and Finch-Skea. We here developed the model by considering an anisotropic spherically symmetric static general relativi…
In this paper we study anisotropic spherical polytropes within the framework of general relativity. Using the anisotropic Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkov (TOV) equations, we explore the relativistic anisotropic Lane-Emden equations. We find how the anisotropic pressure affects the boundary conditions of these equations. Also we argue that the behaviour of physical quantities near the center of star changes in the presence of anisotropy. For constant density, a class of exact solution is derived with the aid of a new ansatz and its physical properties are discussed.
In a previously work, we undertook a static and anisotropic content in $f(T)$ theory and obtained new spherically symmetric solutions considering a constant torsion and some particular conditions for the pressure. In this paper, still in the framework of $f(T)$ theory, new spherically symmetric solutions are obtained, first considering the general case of an isotropic fluid and later the anisotropic content case in which the generalized conditions for the matter content are considered such that the energy density, the radial and tangential pressures depend on the algebraic $f(T)$ and its deriv…
