Explicit construction of the basic SU(2) anti-instantons over the multi-Taub--NUT geometry via the classical conformal rescaling method is exhibited. These anti-instantons satisfiy the so-called weak holonomy condition at infinity with respect to the trivial flat connection and decay rapidly. The resulting unital energy anti-instantons have trivial holonomy at infinity. We also fully describe their unframed moduli space and find that it is a five dimensional space admitting a singular disk-fibration over R^3. On the way, we work out in detail the twistor space of the multi-Taub--NUT geometry together with its real structure and transform our anti-instantons into holomorphic vector bundles over the twistor space. In this picture we are able to demonstrate that our construction is complete in the sense that we have constructed a full connected component of the moduli space of solutions of the above type. We also prove that anti-instantons with arbitrary high integer energy exist on the multi-Taub--NUT space.
We present a construction of self-dual Yang-Mills connections on the Taub-NUT space. We illustrate it by finding explicit expressions for all SU(2) instantons of instanton number one and generic monodromy at infinity.
We construct a family of Calabi-Yau metrics on $\C^3$ with properties analogous to the Taub-NUT metric on $\C^2$, and construct a family of Calabi-Yau 3-fold metric models on the positive and negative vertices of SYZ fibrations with properties analogous to the Ooguri-Vafa metric.
We study finite action anti-self-dual Yang-Mills connections on the multi-Taub-NUT space. We establish the curvature and the harmonic spinors decay rates and compute the index of the associated Dirac operator. This is the first in a series of papers proving the completeness of the bow construction of instantons on multi-Taub-NUT spaces and exploring it in detail.
We introduce a generalization of Taub-NUT deformations for large families of hyper-Kaehler quotients including toric hyper-Kaehler manifolds and quiver varieties, and apply them to the case of the Hilbert schemes of k points on C^2.
We study the one-parameter family of twisted Kahler Taub-NUT metrics (discovered by Donaldson), along with two exceptional Taub-NUT-like instantons, and understand them to the extend that should be sufficient for blow-up and gluing arguments. In particular we parametrize their geodesics from the origin, determine curvature fall-off rates, volume growth rates for metric balls, and find blow-down limits.
We study the Hessian geometry of toric multi-Taub-NUT metrics and their phase change phenomena via the images of their moment maps. This generalizes an earlier paper on toric Gibbons-Hawking metrics.
The common assertion that the Ricci flows of Einstein spaces with cosmological constant can be modelled by certain classes of nonholonomic frame, metric and linear connection deformations resulting in nonhomogeneous Einstein spaces is examined in the light of the role played by topological three dimensional (3D) Taub-NUT-AdS/dS spacetimes.
We present ADHM-Nahm data for instantons on the Taub-NUT space and encode these data in terms of Bow Diagrams. We study the moduli spaces of the instantons and present these spaces as finite hyperkahler quotients. As an example, we find an explicit expression for the metric on the moduli space of one SU(2) instanton. We motivate our construction by identifying a corresponding string theory brane configuration. By following string theory dualities we are led to supersymmetric gauge theories with impurities.
Using the harmonic superspace formalism, we find the metric of a certain 8-dimensional manifold. This manifold is not compact and represents an 8-dimensional generalization of the Taub-NUT manifold. Our conjecture is that the metric that we derived is equivalent to the known metric possessing a discrete $Z_2$ isometry, which may be obtained from the metric describing the dynamics of four BPS monopoles by Hamiltonian reduction.
In this paper, we study the Kählerian nature of Taub-NUT and Kerr spaces which are gravitational instanton and black hole solutions in general relativity. We show that Euclidean Taub-NUT metric is hyper-Kähler with respect to the usual almost complex structures by employing an alternative explicit coframe, and Euclidean Kerr metric is globally conformally Kähler. We also show that conformally scaled Euclidean Kerr space admits a Kähler structure by applying a conformal scaling factor stemming from the Lee-form of the original metric or alternatively a factor coming from self-dual part of the W…
In this work we construct and analyze exact solutions describing Ricci flows and nonholonomic deformations of four dimensional (4D) Taub-NUT spacetimes. It is outlined a new geometric techniques of constructing Ricci flow solutions. Some conceptual issues on spacetimes provided with generic off-diagonal metrics and associated nonlinear connection structures are analyzed. The limit from gravity/Ricci flow models with nontrivial torsion to configurations with the Levi-Civita connection is allowed in some specific physical circumstances by constraining the class of integral varieties for the Eins…
We obtain $D_k$ ALF gravitational instantons by a gluing construction which captures, in a precise and explicit fashion, their interpretation as non-linear superpositions of the moduli space of centred $SU(2)$ monopoles, equipped with the Atiyah-Hitchin metric, and $k$ copies of the Taub-NUT manifold. The construction proceeds from a finite set of points in euclidean space, reflection symmetric about the origin, and depends on an adiabatic parameter which is incorporated into the geometry as a fifth dimension. Using a formulation in terms of hyperKähler triples on manifolds with boundaries, we…
This paper provides a classification result for gravitational instantons with cubic volume growth and cyclic fundamental group at infinity. It proves that a complete hyperkähler manifold asymptotic to a circle fibration over the Euclidean three-space is either the standard $\rl^3 \times \sph^1$ or a multi-Taub-NUT manifold. In particular, the underlying complex manifold is either $\cx \times \cx/\ir$ or a minimal resolution of a cyclic Kleinian singularity.
We find sufficient conditions for the absence of harmonic $L^2$ spinors on spin manifolds constructed as cone bundles over a compact Kähler base. These conditions are fulfilled for certain perturbations of the Euclidean metric, and also for the generalized Taub-NUT metrics of Iwai-Katayama, thus proving a conjecture of Vi\csinescu and the second author.
We study the Ricci flow starting at an SU(2) cohomogeneity-1 metric $g_{0}$ on $\mathbb{R}^{4}$ with monotone warping coefficients and whose restriction to any hypersphere is a Berger metric. If $g_{0}$ has bounded Hopf-fiber, curvature controlled by the size of the orbits and opens faster than a paraboloid in the directions orthogonal to the Hopf-fiber, then the flow converges to the Taub-NUT metric $g_{\mathsf{TNUT}}$ in the Cheeger-Gromov sense in infinite time. We also classify the long-time behaviour when $g_{0}$ is asymptotically flat. In order to identify infinite-time singularity model…
In this paper we exhibit a one-parameter family of new Taub-NUT instantons parameterized by a half-line. The endpoint of the half-line will be the reducible Yang-Mills instanton corresponding to the Eguchi-Hanson-Gibbons L^2 harmonic 2-form, while at an inner point we recover the Pope-Yuille instanton constructed as a projection of the Levi-Civita connection onto the positive su(2) subalgebra of the Lie algebra so(4). Our method imitates the Jackiw-Nohl-Rebbi construction originally designed for flat R^4. That is we find a one-parameter family of harmonic functions on the Taub-NUT space with a…
