The article states that for every compact manifold M of dimension 4 or higher there is an area U in a set of smooth diffeomorphisms over M such that every map f from U has local maximal partially hyperbolic attractor and nonatomic ergodic invariant measure on it where one of Lyapunov exponents vanish. The result is first proved for skew products over horseshoe and then transferred onto smooth diffeomorphisms.
We show the existence and uniqueness of the maximal entropy probability measure for partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms which are semi-conjugate to nonuniformly expanding maps. Using the theory of projective metric on cones we then prove exponential decay of correlations for Hölder continuous observables and the central limit theorem for the maximal entropy probability measure. Moreover, for systems derived from solenoid we also prove the statistical stability for the maximal entropy probability measure. Finally, we use such techniques to obtain similar results in a context containing partial…
We consider an abundant class of non-uniformly hyperbolic $C^2$-Hénon like diffeomorphisms called strongly regular and which corresponds to Benedicks-Carleson parameters. We prove the existence of $m>0$ such that for any such diffeomorphism $f$, every invariant probability measure of $f$ has a Lyapunov exponent greater than $m$, answering a question of L. Carleson. Moreover, we show the existence and uniqueness of a measure of maximal entropy, this answers a question of M. Lyubich and Y. Pesin. We also prove that the maximal entropy measure is equi-distributed on the periodic points and is fin…
We prove that any 3-dimensional singular hyperbolic attractor admits for any Hölder continuous potential $V$ at most one equilibrium state for $V$ among regular measures. We give a condition on $V$ which ensures that no singularity can be an equilibrium state. Thus, for these $V$'s, there exists a unique equilibrium state and it is a regular measure. Applying this for $V\equiv 0$, we show that any 3-dimensional singular hyperbolic attractor admits a unique measure of maximal entropy.
In this note, we consider the thermodynamic formalism for Lorenz attractors of flows in any dimension. Under a mild condition on the Hölder continuous potential function $ϕ$, we prove that for an open and dense subset of $C^1$ vector fields, every Lorenz attractor supports a unique equilibrium state. In particular, we obtain the uniqueness for the measure of maximal entropy.
Asymptotic behaviors are often of particular interest when analyzing Boolean networks that represent biological systems such as signal trans- duction or gene regulatory networks. Methods based on a generalization of the steady state notion, the so-called trap spaces, can be exploited to investigate attractor properties as well as for model reduction techniques. In this paper, we propose a novel optimization-based method for com- puting all minimal and maximal trap spaces and motivate their use. In particular, we add a new result yielding a lower bound for the number of cyclic attractors and il…
We establish two results under which the topology of a hyperbolic set constrains ambient dynamics. First if a set is a compact, transitive, expanding hyperbolic attractor of codimension 1 for some diffeomorphism, then it is a union of transitive, expanding attractors (or contracting repellers) of codimension 1 for any diffeomorphism such that it is hyperbolic. Secondly, if a set is a nonwandering, locally maximal, compact hyperbolic set for a surface diffeomorphism, then it is locally maximal for any diffeomorphism for which it is hyperbolic.
In this paper, we deal with random attractors for dynamical systems forced by a deterministic noise. These kind of systems are modeled as skew products where the dynamics of the forcing process are described by the base transformation. Here, we consider skew products over the Bernoulli shift with the unit interval fiber. We study the geometric structure of maximal attractors, the orbit stability and stability of mixing of these skew products under random perturbations of the fiber maps. We show that there exists an open set $\mathcal{U}$ in the space of such skew products so that any skew prod…
Let $M$ be a closed manifold, and let $f:M \rightarrow M$ be a $C^{2+α}$ Axiom A diffeomorphism. Suppose that $f$ has an attractor $Ω$ with codimension 1 stable lamination. Under a generic nonlinearity condition and a suitable bunching condition, we prove polynomial Fourier decay in the unstable direction for a large class of invariant measures on $Ω$. Our result applies in particular for the measure of maximal entropy. We construct in the appendix an explicit solenoid that satisfies the nonlinearity and bunching assumption.
The collision of a fixed point with a switching manifold (or border) in a piecewise-smooth map can create many different types of invariant sets. This paper explores two techniques that, combined, establish a chaotic attractor is created in a border-collision bifurcation in $\mathbb{R}^d$ $(d \ge 1)$. First, asymptotic stability of the fixed point at the bifurcation is characterised and shown to imply a local attractor is created. Second, a lower bound on the maximal Lyapunov exponent is obtained from the determinants of the one-sided Jacobian matrices associated with the fixed point. Special …
A sectional-Anosov flow on a manifold M is a C^1 vector field inwardly transverse to the boundary for which the maximal invariant is sectional-hyperbolic. We prove that every attractor of every vector field C^1 close to a transitive sectional-Anosov flow with singularities on a compact manifold has a singularity. This extends the three-dimensional result obtained in [Morales, C.A., The explosion of singular-hyperbolic attractors].
Let f be a holomorphic endomorphism of P^k having an attracting set A. We construct an attracting current and an equilibrium measure associated to A. The attracting current is weakly laminar and extremal in the cone of invariant currents. The equilibrium measure is mixing and has maximal entropy.
A classical theorem of Hutchinson asserts that if an iterated function system acts on $\mathbb{R}^d$ by similitudes and satisfies the open set condition then it admits a unique self-similar measure with Hausdorff dimension equal to the dimension of the attractor. In the class of measures on the attractor which arise as the projections of shift-invariant measures on the coding space, this self-similar measure is the unique measure of maximal dimension. In the context of affine iterated function systems it is known that there may be multiple shift-invariant measures of maximal dimension if the l…
Let (M,d) be a compact metric space and f:M --> M an expansive homeomorphism. We define Lyapunov exponents L(f,m)_{max} and l(f,mu)_{min} for an f-invariant measure m. When L(f,m)_{max} > 0 and l(f,mu)_{min} < 0 can be interpreted as a weak form of hyperbolicity for f. We prove that if M is a Peano space then there is g>0 such that L(f,m)_{max} > g and l(f,m)_{min}< - g. We also show that the hypothesis that M is a Peano space is necessary to obtain the maximal Lyapunov exponent positive and the minimal Lyapunov exponent negative. Moreover we define Lyapunov exponents for K, a compact f-invari…
We consider the iterated function system (IFS) $$f_{\vec{q}}(\vec{z})=\frac{\vec{z}+\vec{q}}β,\vec{q}\in\{(0,0),(1,0),(0,1)\}.$$ As is well known, for $β= 2$ the attractor, $S_β$, is a fractal called the Sierpiński gasket(or sieve) and for $β>2$ it is also a fractal. Our goal is to study greedy, lazy and random $β$-transformations on the attractor for this IFS with $1<β<2$. For $1<β\leq 3/2$, $S_β$ is a triangle and it is shown that the greedy transformation $T_β$ and the lazy transformation $L_β$ are isomorphic and they both admit an absolutely continuous invariant measure. We show that all $…
