We calculate the branching ratios and CP violating asymmetries of the four $B \to K \etap$ decays in the perturbative QCD (pQCD) factorization approach. Besides the full leading order contributions, the partial next-to-leading order (NLO) contributions from the QCD vertex corrections, the quark loops, and the chromo-magnetic penguins are also taken into account. The NLO pQCD predictions for the CP-averaged branching ratios are $Br(B^+ \to K^+ η) \approx 3.2 \times 10^{-6}$, $Br(B^\pm \to K^\pm \etar) \approx 51.0 \times 10^{-6}$, $Br(B^0 \to K^0 η) \approx 2.1 \times 10^{-6}$, and $Br(B^0 \to K^0 \etar) \approx 50.3 \times 10^{-6}$. The NLO contributions can provide a 70% enhancement to the LO $Br(B \to K \etar)$, but a 30% reduction to the LO $Br(B \to K η)$, which play the key role in understanding the observed pattern of branching ratios. The NLO pQCD predictions for the CP-violating asymmetries, such as $\acp^{dir} (K^0_S \etar) \sim 2.3% $ and $\acp^{mix}(K^0_S \etar)\sim 63%$, agree very well with currently available data. This means that the deviation $ΔS=\acp^{mix}(K^0_S \etar) - \sin{2β}$ in pQCD approach is also very small.
We analyze the perturbative and parametric stability of the QCD predictions for the azimuthal asymmetries in heavy quark leptoproduction. At leading order, the $\cos ϕ$ asymmetry vanishes whereas the $\cos 2ϕ$ one is of leading twist and predicted to be about 15% at energies sufficiently above the production threshold. We calculate the NLO soft-gluon corrections to $ϕ$-dependent leptoproduction to the next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy. The soft-gluon approximation provides a good description of the available exact NLO results at $Q^{2}\lesssim m^{2}$. Our analysis shows that, contrary to th…
The branching ratio of $B^-\to h_c+K^-$ is re-evaluated in the PQCD approach. In this theoretical framework all the phenomenological parameters in the wavefunctions and Sudakov factor are priori fixed by fitting other experimental data, and in the whole numerical computations we do not introduce any new parameter. Our results are consistent with the upper bounds set by the Babar and Belle measurements.
The radiative B-> rho gamma, B-> omega gamma decay modes are caused by the FCNC process, so they give us good insight towards probing the standard model in order to search for new physics. In this paper, we compute the branching ratio, direct CP asymmetry, and isospin breaking effects using the perturbative QCD approach within the standard model.
We calculate the branching ratio of $Λ_b \to Λγ$ in the standard model using the PQCD method. The predicted branching ratio $B(Λ_b \to Λγ)$ is about $(4.3\sim 8.6)\times 10^{-8}$, with reasonable parameter ranges in the heavy baryon distribution amplitude. This branching ratio is much smaller than those obtained in other hadronic model calculations. Future experimental data can provide important information on applicability of the PQCD method to heavy baryon radiative decay.
We calculate the branching ratio of $\bar{B}^0 \to Λ_c^+ \bar{p}$ in the PQCD approach. Most previous model calculations obtained branching ratios significantly larger than experimental data. We find that the predicted branching ratio for BR$(\bar{B}^0 \to Λ_c^+ \bar{p})$ in the PQCD approach can vary over a range of $(2.3\sim 5.1)\times 10^{-5}$ with the largest uncertainty coming from the parameters in the wave function of $Λ_c$. With the favored values for the parameters in the $Λ_c^+$ wave function, $β= 1$ GeV and $m_q = 0.3$ GeV, the branching ratio is about $2.3\times 10^{-5}$ which is s…
We study the effects of the MSSM contribution on B -> phi K decays using the perturbative QCD approach. In this approach, strong phases can be calculated, so that we can predict the values of CP asymmetries with the MSSM contribution. We predict a large relative strong phase between the penguin amplitude and the chromomagnetic penguin amplitude. If there is a new CP violating phase in the chromomagnetic penguin amplitude, then the CP asymmetries may change significantly from the SM prediction. We parametrize the new physics contributions that appear in the Wilson coefficients. We maximize the …
I review recent progress on exclusive hadronic B meson decays in the perturbative QCD approach, with focus on puzzles in the branching ratios and the CP asymmetries of the B -> pi K and B -> pi pi modes, and polarization fractions in B -> VV modes.
I review important aspects of the perturbative QCD approach to exclusive $B$ meson decays, concentrating on factorization theorem, gauge invariance, end-point singularities, $k_T$ and threshold resummations, power counting, penguin enhancement, and CP asymmetries.
Motivated by the very recent measurement of the branching ratio of ${B_d^0} \to J/ψη$ decay, we calculate the branching ratios of ${B_d}^0 \to J/ψη$ and ${B_d}^0 \to J/Ψη'$ decays in the perturbative QCD (pQCD) approach. The pQCD predictions for the branching ratios of considered decays are: $BR(B_d^0 \to J/Ψη) = (1.96 ^{+9.68}_{-0.65}) \times 10^{-6}$, which is consistent with the first experimental measurement within errors; while $BR(B_d^0 \to J/Ψη') = (1.09 ^{+3.76}_{-0.25}) \times 10^{-6}$, very similar with $B_d^0 \to \jpsi η$ decay and can be tested by the forthcoming LHC experiments. T…
The $Υ(1S)$ ${\to}$ $B_{c}D_{s}^{\ast}$ weak decay is studied with the perturbative QCD approach firstly. It is found that (1) main contributions to branching ratio come from the longitudinal and parallel helicity amplitudes, (2) branching ratio, longitudinal and parallel polarization fractions are sensitive to the wave functions of the $Υ(1S)$ meson, (3) branching ratio for the $Υ(1S)$ ${\to}$ $B_{c}D_{s}^{\ast}$ decay can reach up to $10^{-9}$, which might be promisingly measured by the future experiments.
We calculate the CP averaged branching ratios and CP-violating asymmetries for $B_s^0 \to ηη, ηη^\prime$ and $η^\prime η^\prime$ decays in the perturbative QCD (pQCD) approach here. The pQCD predictions for the CP-averaged branching ratios are $Br(B_s^0 \to ηη) = \left (14.2^{+18.0}_{-7.5}) \times 10^{-6}$, $Br(B_s^0 \to ηη^\prime)= \left (12.4 ^{+18.2}_{-7.0}) \times 10^{-6}$, and $Br(B_s^0 \to η^{\prime} η^{\prime}) = \left (9.2^{+15.3}_{-4.9}) \times 10^{-6}$, which agree well with those obtained by employing the QCD factorization approach and also be consistent with available experimental …
We study the exclusive decays of $B\to K^{(*)}l^+l^-$ within the framework of the PQCD. We obtain the form factors for the $B\to K^{(*)}$ transitions in all allowed values of $q^2$, which agree with the lattice results. We find that our distributions of the decay rates and leptonic asymmetries are consistent with that given in the other QCD models in the literature.
In the two-quark model supposition for $K_0^{*}(1430)$, the branching ratios and the direct CP-violating asymmetries for decays $\bar B_s^0\to K^{*0}_0(1430)π^0, K^{*+}_0(1430)π^-$ are studied by employing the perturbative QCD factorization approach. We find that although these two decays are both tree-dominated, the ratio of their penguin to tree contributions are very different: there is only a few percent for the decay $\bar B_s^0\to K^{*+}_0(1430)π^-$, while about 37% in scenario I, even 51% in scenario II for the decay $\bar B_s^0\to K^{*0}_0(1430)π^0$. It results that these two decays ha…
We study the effects of supersymmetric contribution on both the B_d -> phi K^0 and B^\pm -> phi K^\pm modes using the perturbative QCD approach. We estimate the deviation of mixing-induced and direct CP asymmetries and discuss the strong-phase dependence of them.
Based on the assumption of two-quark structure of the scalar meson $f_0(980)$, we calculate the branching ratios and CP-violating asymmetries for the four $B \to f_0(980)π$ and $B \to f_0(980)\etapp$ decays by employing the perturbative QCD (pQCD) factorization approach. The leading order pQCD predictions for branching ratios are, $Br(B^-\to f_0(980) π^-)\sim 2.5 \times 10^{-6}$, $Br(\bar{B}^0\to f_0(980) π^0)\sim 2 6 \times 10^{-7}$, $Br(\bar{B}^0\to f_0(980) η)\sim 2.5 \times 10^{-7}$ and $Br(\bar{B}^0\to f_0(980) η^\prime)\sim 6.7 \times 10^{-7}$, which are consistent with both the QCD fact…
Motivated by the recent measurement of the upper limit of ${B}^0 \to J/ψD$ branching ratio, which is important in accounting for the soft $J/ψ$ production in B decays, we investigate ${B}^0 \to J/ψD^{(\star)}$ and $η_c D^{(\star)}$ decays in perturbative QCD approach based on $k_T$ factorization. Being pure annihilation (W-exchange) decays, these branching ratios are estimated to be at the order of $10^{-5} \sim 10^{-7}$, which are just at the corner of being observable at the $B$ factories. The measurements of these decay channels may help us to understand the QCD dynamics in the correspondin…
We investigate $B \to K_0^*(1430) K^*$ decays in the perturbative QCD(pQCD) factorization approach, where $B$ denotes $B_u$, $B_d$ and $B_s$ meson respectively, and the scalar $K_0^*(1430)$ is considered as a meson based on the model of conventional two-quark structure. With the light-cone distribution amplitude of $K_0^*(1430)$ defined in two scenarios, namely Scenario 1 and Scenario 2, we make the first estimation for the branching ratios and CP-violating asymmetries for those concerned decay modes in the pQCD factorization approach. For all considered $B \to K_0^*(1430) K^*$ decays in this …
By employing the perturbative QCD (pQCD) factorization approach, we calculated some important next-to-leading-order(NLO) contributions to the two-body charmless hadronic decays $B^+ \to ρ^+ η^{(\prime)}$ and $B^0 \to ρ^0(ω, ϕ) η^{(\prime)}$, induced by the vertex QCD corrections, the quark-loops as well as the chromo-magnetic penguins. From the numerical results and phenomenological analysis we find that (a) for $B^\pm \to ρ^\pm \etap$ decays, the partial NLO contributions to branching ratios are small in magnitude; (b) for $B^0 \to ρ^0(ω,ϕ) \etap$ decays, the NLO contributions can provide sig…
We calculate the semileptonic branching ratio and the charm counting of inclusive $B$ meson decays using the perturbative QCD formalism. For the nonleptonic decays, we employ the modified factorization theorem, in which Wilson coefficients evolve with the characteristic scales of the decay modes. It is found that the decay rate of the single-charm mode $b\to c{\bar u}d$ is enhanced, and a lower $B_{SL}$ is obtained without increasing $n_c$. We predict a larger $b\to c τ\barν$ branching ratio compared to that from the conventional heavy-quark-effective-theory based operator product expansion. O…
Motivated by the first untagged decay-time-integrated amplitude analysis of $B_s \to K_SK^{\mp}π^{\pm}$ decays performed by LHCb collaboration, where the decay amplitudes are modeled to contain the resonant contributions from intermediate resonances $K^*(892)$, $K_0^*(1430)$ and $K_2^*(1430)$, we comprehensively investigate the quasi-two-body $B_{s} \to K^0/\overline{\kern -0.2em K}^0 K^{\pm}π^{\mp}$ decays, and calculate the branching fractions and the time-dependent $CP$ asymmetries within the perturbative QCD approach based on the $k_T$ factorization. In the quasi-two-body space region the …
We discuss an improved theoretical description of the semi-inclusive B meson decays $B\to K(K^*)X$. The decay distributions are calculated. Their branching ratios are found to be appreciable. The CP asymmetries in the neutral B modes $\bar{B^0}\to K^-(K^{*-})X$ are sizable. An observation of direct CP violation and a measurement of $γ$ may come from these neutral B modes.
Within the framework of perturbative QCD approach, we study the charmless two-body decays into final states involving one axial-vector (A), $a_1(1260)$ or $b_1(1235)$, and one vector (V), namely $ρ(ω,ϕ)$. Using the decays constants and the light-cone distribution amplitudes for these mesons derived from the QCD sum rule method, we find the following results: (a) Except the decays $\bar B^0\to a^{0}_1ρ^0(ω)$, other tree-dominated decays $B\to a_1ρ(ω)$ have larger branching ratios, at the order of $10^{-5}$. (b)Except the decays $\bar B\to b^+_1ρ^-$ and $B^-\to b^0_1ρ^-$, other $B\to b_1ρ(ω)$ de…
We calculate the branching ratios and CP-violating asymmetries for $B_s^0 \to π^0 η^{(\prime)}$ decays in the perturbative QCD (pQCD) factorization approach here. We not only calculate the usual factorizable contributions, but also evaluate the non-factorizable and annihilation type contributions. The pQCD predictions for the CP-averaged branching ratios are $BR(B_s^0 \to π^0 η) \approx 0.86 \times 10^{-7}$ and $BR(B_s^0 \to π^0 η') \approx 1.86 \times 10^{-7}$. The pQCD predictions for the CP-violating asymmetries are $A_{CP}^{dir}(π^0 η)\sim -4.5 % $, $A_{CP}^{dir}(π^0 η')\sim -9.1% $, $A_{C…
We study the radiative dileptonic $B \rar γl^+ l^- $ transition in the presence of a universal extra dimension in the Applequist-Cheng-Dobrescu model. In particular, using the corresponding form factors calculated via light cone QCD sum rules, we analyze the branching ratio and double lepton polarization asymmetries related to this channel and compare the results with the predictions of the standard model. We show how the results deviate from predictions of the standard model at lower values of the compactification factor ($1/R $) of extra dimension.
I review the recent progress on the perturbative QCD approach to exclusive $B$ meson decays, discussing the comparison of collinear and $k_T$ factorizations, the CP asymmetry in the $B^0\toπ^+π^-$ decay, penguin enhancement, the branching ratio of the $B^0\to D^0π^0$ decay, and three-body nonleptonic decays.
We analyze the supersymmetric contributions to the direct and mixing CP asymmetries and also to the branching ratios of the B --> K πdecays in a model independent way. We consider both gluino and chargino exchanges and emphasize that a large gluino contribution is essential for saturating the direct and mixing CP asymmetries. We also find that combined contributions from the penguin diagrams with chargino and gluino in the loop could lead to a possible solution for the branching ratios puzzle and account for the results of R_c and R_n within b --> s γconstraints. When all relevant constraints …
Theoretically motivated smallness of the penguin amplitude in $B \to ππ$ decays allowes to calculate the value of the unitarity triangle angle $α(ϕ_2)$ with good accuracy. The relatively large branching ratio of the decay into $π^0 π^0$ is explained by the large value of FSI phase difference between $ΔI = 1/2$ and $ΔI = 3/2$ tree amplitudes.
By employing the perturbative QCD(pQCD) factorization approach, we calculated the partial next-to-leading order (NLO) contributions to $B_s \to P P$ decays ($P= π, K, \etap $), coming from the QCD vertex corrections, the quark-loops and the chromo-magnetic penguins. we found numerically that (a) for three measured decays $\bar{B}_s \to K^+ π^-, K^+K^-$ and $π^+π^-$, the consistency between the pQCD predictions and the measured values are improved effectively by the inclusion of the NLO contributions; (b) for $\bar{B}_s \to K^0\etap$ and $K^0π^0$ decays, the NLO enhancements to the branching ra…
We investigate the $B \rar K_{0}^{*}(1430) l^+ l^- $ transition in the Applequist-Cheng-Dobrescu model in the presence of a universal extra dimension. In particular, we calculate double lepton polarization asymmetries and branching ratio related to this channel and compare the obtained results with the predictions of the standard model. Our analysis of the considered observables in terms of radius $R$ of the compactified extra-dimension as the new parameter of the model show a considerable discrepancy between the predictions of two models in low $\frac{1}{R}$ values.
In this paper we first calculate the form factors of $B \to (π,K)$ and $B_s \to K $ transitions by employing the perturbative QCD (pQCD) factorization approach with the inclusion of the next-to-leading-order(NLO) corrections, and then we calculate the branching ratios of the corresponding semileptonic decays $B/B_s \to (π, K)(l^+l^-,lν,ν\barν)$ (here $l$ denotes $e, μ$ and $τ$). Based on the numerical calculations and phenomenological analysis, we found the following results: (a) For $B \to (π, K)$ and $B_s \to K$ transition form factors $F_{0,+,\rmt}(q^2)$, the NLO pQCD predictions for the va…
We investigate the exclusive nonleptonic decays $B\rightarrow χ_{c1}K(π)$ in the conventional perturbative QCD (PQCD) formalism. The predictions of branching ratios and $CP$ asymmetries are given in detail. We compare our results with available experimental data as well as predictions of other theoretical studies existing in the literature. It seems that the branching ratios of $B\rightarrow χ_{c1} K$ are more consistent with data than the earlier analyses. For the Cabibbo-suppressed $B_s$ decay, the branching ratio can reach the order of $10^{-5}$, which would be straight forward for experime…
In this work, within the QCD factorization approach, we investigate the branching fractions and CP asymmetries of decays $B \to K_0^*(1430)ρ$ and $B \to K_0^*(1430)ϕ$ under two different scenarios both in the standard model and the family nonuniversal $Z^\prime$ model. We find that the annihilation terms play crucial roles in these decays and lead to the main uncertainties. For decays $B^- \to \bar K_0^{*-} (1430)ρ^0 (ω)$, the new $Z^\prime$ boson could change branching fractions remarkably. However, for other decays, its contribution might be clouded by large uncertainties from annihilations.…
We consider two body decays of B meson into a light vector (V) and a pseudoscalar (P) meson. The constraint obtained from the $B\to P P$ modes on the parameter space of the input parameters is imposed also on $B\to V P$ modes. In particular we constrain $ξ\equiv (1/N_c)$ for those modes from recently measured $B\to ωK, ϕK$ and are able to get a satisfactory pictures for all modes where data exists. Modes that should be seen shortly and those with possibly large CP asymmetries are identified.
The rare decays $B_s^0\to D^\pm π^\mp$ and $\bar B_s^0\to D^\mp π^\pm$ can occur only via annihilation type diagrams in the standard model. In this paper, we calculate branching ratios of these decays in perturbative QCD approach ignoring soft final state interaction. From our calculation, we find that their branching ratios are at $\mathcal{O}(10^{-6})$ with large CP asymmetry, which may be measured in LHC-b experiment in future.
We calculate the important next-to-leading-order (NLO) contributions to the $B \to K K^*$ decays from the vertex corrections, the quark loops, and the magnetic penguins in the perturbative QCD (pQCD) factorization approach. The pQCD predictions for the CP-averaged branching ratios are $Br(B^+ \to K^+ \bar{K}^{*0}) \approx 3.2\times 10^{-7}$, $Br(B^+ \to \bar{K}^0 {K}^{*+}) \approx 2.1\times 10^{-7}$, $Br(B^0/\ov{B}^0 \to K^0\bar{K}^{*0}+\bar{K}^0 K^{*0}) \approx 8.5\times 10^{-7}$, $Br(B^0/\ov{B}^0 \to K^+K^{*-} + K^-K^{*+}) \approx 1.3\times 10^{-7}$, which agree well with both the experiment…
In this paper, we calculate the branching ratios and CP-violating asymmetries for $B_{s} \to (ρ^0,ω, ϕ) η^{(\prime)}$ decays in the perturbative QCD (pQCD) factorization approach. Numerically we found that (a) the pQCD predictions for the CP-averaged branching ratios are $Br(B_{s}\toρ^0 η)\approx 0.07 \times 10^{-6}$, $Br(B_{s}\toρ^{0}η^\prime) \approx 0.10 \times 10^{-6}$, $Br(B_{s} \toωη) \approx 0.02 \times 10^{-6}$, $Br(B_{s} \toωη^\prime) \approx 0.13 \times 10^{-6}$, $Br(B_{s} \toϕη) \approx 2.7 \times 10^{-5}$ and $Br(B_{s} \toϕη^\prime) \approx 2.0 \times 10^{-5}$; (b) the gluonic cont…
We study the $B(B_{s})\rightarrow D_{(s)}(\bar{D}_{(s)})\,T$ and $D_{(s)}^{\ast}(\bar{D}_{(s)}^{*})\,T$ decays in perturbative QCD approach, where T denotes a light tensor meson. In addition to the branching ratios, we also give predictions to the polarization fractions for the $D^{*}_{(s)}(\bar{D}_{(s)}^{*})T$ decays. For those decays with a tensor meson emitted, the factorizable emission diagrams do not contribute because of lorentz covariance considerations. In order to give the predictions to these decay channels, it is necessary to go beyond the naive factorization to calculate the nonfac…
In the two-quark model supposition for $K_0^{*}(1430)$, which can be viewed as either the first excited state (scenario I) or the lowest lying state (scenario II), the branching ratios and the direct CP-violating asymmetries for decays $\bar B_s^0\to K^{*0}_0(1430)ϕ, K^{*0}_0(1430)ω, K^{*0}_0(1430)ρ^0, K^{*+}_0(1430)ρ^-$ are studied by employing the perturbative QCD factorization approach. We find the following results: (a) Enhanced by the color allowed tree amplitude with large Wilson coefficients $a_1=C_2+C_1/3$, the branching ratio of $\bar B_s^0\to K^{*+}_0(1430)ρ^-$ is much larger than th…
We study the two-body hadronic $D\to PV$ decays, where $P$ ($V$) denotes a pseudoscalar (vector) meson, in the factorization-assisted topological-amplitude approach proposed in our previous work. This approach is based on the factorization of short-distance and long-distance dynamics into Wilson coefficients and hadronic matrix elements of four-fermion operators, respectively, with the latter being parametrized in terms of several nonperturbative quantities. We further take into account the $ρ$-$ω$ mixing effect, which improves the global fit to the branching ratios involving the $ρ^0$ and $ω$…
In this work, we investigate the $B_s\to V S$ decays in the perturbative QCD approach, where $V$ and $S$ denote the vector meson and scalar meson respectively. Based on the two-quark structure, considering two different scenarios for describing the scalar mesons, we calculate the branching fractions and the direct $CP$ asymmetries of all $B_s\to VS$ decays. Most branching fractions are predicted to be at $10^{-7}$ to $10^{-5}$, which could be measured in the LHCb and Belle-II experiments, especially for these color-allowed $B_s\to κ(800)(K_0^*(1430))K^*$ decays. It is found that the branching …
We investigate the four-body decays $B_{(s)} \rightarrow (Kπ)_{S/P} (Kπ)_{S/P}$ in the $Kπ$-pair invariant mass region around the $K^*(892)$ resonance in the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach, where $(Kπ)_{S/P}$ denotes a $S$- or $P$-wave $Kπ$ configuration. The contributions from the $P$-wave resonance $K^*(892)$ and from possible $S$-wave components are included into the parametrization of the $Kπ$ two-meson distribution amplitudes, which are the nonperturbative inputs in this formalism. We calculate the branching ratio for each resonance and observe sizable $S$-wave contributions to the $B_s…
In this paper we calculate the branching ratios (BRs) of the 32 charmless hadronic $B_c \to A P$ decays ($A=a_1(1260),b_1(1235),K_1(1270),K_1(1400), f_1(1285),f_1(1420),h_1(1170),h_1(1380)$) by employing the perturbative QCD(pQCD) factorization approach. These considered decay channels can only occur via annihilation type diagrams in the standard model. From the numerical calculations and phenomenological analysis, we found the following results: (a) the pQCD predictions for the BRs of the considered $B_c$ decays are in the range of $10^{-6}$ to $10^{-8}$, while the CP-violating asymmetries ar…
In this paper, we calculated the branching ratios and direct CP violation of the four $B\to Kπ$ decays with the inclusion of all currently known next-to-leading order (NLO) contributions by employing the perturbative QCD (pQCD) factorization approach. We found that (a) Besides the 10% enhancement from the NLO vertex corrections, the quark-loops and magnetic penguins, the NLO contributions to the form factors can provide an additional $\sim 15%$ enhancement to the branching ratios, and lead to a very good agreement with the data; (b) The NLO pQCD predictions are $\acp^{dir}(B^0\to K^+π^-)=(-6.5…
In this paper we perform a comprehensive study of the four $B \to K \etap$ decays in the pQCD factorization approach. We calculate the CP-averaged branching ratios and CP-violating asymmetries of $B \to K\etap$ decays in the ordinary $η$-$\etar$, the $η$-$\etar$-$G$, and the $η$-$\etar$-$G$-$η_c$ mixing schemes. Besides the full LO contributions, all currently known NLO contributions to $B \to K \etap$ decays in the pQCD approach are taken into account. From our calculations and phenomenological analysis, we find the following. (a) The NLO contributions in general can provide significant enhan…
Branching ratios and CP asymmetries of the quasi-two-body decays $B_c \rightarrow \ K^{*}_0(1430,1950) D_{(s)} \rightarrow K πD_{(s)} $ in the PQCD approach
Within the framework of perturbative QCD approach based on $k_T$ factorization, we studied 40 $B_c \to DS$ decay modes in the leading order and leading power, where "S" stands for the light scalar meson. Under two different scenarios (S1 and S2) for the description of scalar mesons, we explored the branching fractions and related CP asymmetries. As a heavy meson consisting of two heavy quarks with different flavor, the light-cone distribution amplitude of $B_c$ meson has not been well defined, so the $δ$-function is adopted. The contributions of emission diagrams are suppressed by the vector d…
We study the effect from a sequential fourth generation quark on penguin-dominated two-body nonleptonic B meson decays in the next-to-leading order perturbative QCD formalism. With an enhancement of the color-suppressed tree amplitude and possibility of a new CP phase in the electroweak penguin, we can account better for A_{CP}(B^0 -> K^+ pi^-)-A_{CP}(B^+ -> K^+ pi^0). Taking |V_{t's}V_{t'b}| \sim 0.02 with phase just below 90^\circ, which are consistent with the b -> s l^+ l^- rate and the B_s mixing parameter Δm_{B_s}, we find a downward shift in the mixing-induced CP asymmetries of B^0 -> K…
In this paper, we studied the semileptonic decays $B \to D^{(*)} l^- \barν_l$ by using the "pQCD+Lattice QCD" method. We made the extrapolation for the six relevant form factors by using the input values obtained from the pQCD factorization approach in the low $q^2$ region of $0\leq q^2 \leq m_τ^2$, and the Lattice QCD input at the end-point $q^2=q^2_{\rm max}$. We then calculated the ratios $R(D)$ and $R(D^*)$ of the branching ratios ${\cal B}(B \to D^{(*)} l^- \barν_l)$, and found numerically that (1) the "pQCD+Lattice QCD" predictions for the branching ratios ${\cal B}(B \to D^{(*)} l^-\bar…
By employing a framework for the quasi-two-body decays in the perturbative QCD (PQCD) factorization approach, we calculate the branching ratios of the decays $B_{(s)} \to D (ρ(1450),ρ(1700))\to D ππ$ with $D=(D_{(s)}, \bar{D}_{(s)})$. The pion vector form factor $F_π$, acquired from a {\it BABAR} Collaboration analysis of $e^+ e^- \to π^+ π^-(γ)$ data, is involved in the two-pion distribution amplitudes $Φ^{I=1}_{ππ}$. The PQCD predictions for the branching ratios of the considered quasi-two-body decays are in the range of $10^{-10} \sim 10^{-4}$. The PQCD predictions for ${\cal B}(B^0\to \bar…
To testify the validity of the perturbative QCD (pQCD) and investigate its application range, one should look for a suitable process to do the job. $B\to J/ψD$ is a promising candidate. The linear momentum of the products is relatively small, so that there may exist a region where exchanged gluons are soft and the perturbative treatment may fail, so that the non-perturbative effect would be significant. We attribute such non-perturbative QCD effects into the long-distance final state interaction (FSI) which is estimated in this work. We find that the contribution from the FSI to the branching …
We point out that the B -> rho rho data have seriously constrained the possibility of resolving the B -> pi pi puzzle from the large observed B^0 -> pi^0 pi^0 branching ratio in the available theoretical approaches. The next-to-leading-order (NLO) contributions from the vertex corrections, the quark loops, and the magnetic penguin evaluated in the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach have saturated the experimental upper bound of the B^0 -> rho^0 rho^0 branching ratio, and do not help. The NLO PQCD predictions for the B^0 -> rho^\mp rho^\pm and B^\pm -> rho^\pm rho^0 branching ratios are consisten…
We investigate the branching ratios and direct CP asymmetries of $B_c^+\to D^0π^+$ and $B_c^+\to D^+π^0$ decays in the PQCD approach. All the diagrams with emission topology or annihilation topology are calculated strictly. A branching ratio of $10^{-6}$ and $10^{-7}$ for $B_c^+\to D^0π^+$ and $B_c^+\to D^+π^0$ decay is predicted, respectively. Because of the different weak phase and strong phase from penguin operator and two kinds of tree operator contributions, we predict a possible large direct CP violation: $A^{\rm dir}_{cp} (B_c^\pm \to D^0 π^\pm)\approx -50%$ and $A^{\rm dir}_{cp} (B_c^\…
The $\bar{B}_s^0 \to D_s^{(*)+} l^- \barν_l$ semileptonic decays were calculated in the framework of the standard model (SM) by employing the perturbative QCD (pQCD) factorization approach. We defined four ratios of the branching ratios of the considered decays $R(D_s^{(*)})$ and $R_{D_s}^{l,τ}$. From the numerical results and phenomenological analysis we found that: (a) The pQCD predictions for the branching ratios $Br(\bar{B}_s^0 \to D_s^{(*)+} l^-\barν_l)$ generally agree well with the previous theoretical predictions; (b) For the four ratios, the pQCD predictions are $R(D_s)= 0.392 \pm 0.0…
We analyzed the nonleptonic decays $B/B_s\to ψ(2S) V $ with $V=(ρ, ω, K^{*}, ϕ)$ by employing the perturbative QCD (PQCD) factorization approach. Here the branching ratios, the $CP$ asymmetries and the complete set of polarization observables are investigated systematically. Besides the traditional contributions from the factorizable and nonfactorizable diagrams at the leading order, the next-to-leading order (NLO) vertex corrections could also provide considerable contributions. The PQCD predictions for the branching ratios of the $B_{(s)}\to ψ(2S)K^{*}, ψ(2S) ϕ$ decays are consistent with th…
We present a theoretical reappraisal of the branching ratios and CP asymmetries for the decays $ B \to X_q \ell^+ \ell^-$, with $q=d,s$, taking into account current theoretical uncertainties in the description of the inclusive decay amplitudes from the long-distance contributions, an improved treatment of the renormalization scale dependence, and other parametric dependencies. Concentrating on the partial branching ratios $Δ{\cal B}(B \to X_q \ell^+ \ell^-)$, integrated over the invariant dilepton mass region $1 {GeV}^2 \leq s \leq 6 {GeV}^2$, we calculate theoretical precision on the charge-c…
We have calculated inclusive direct CP-asymmetries for charmless B^{+/-} -decays. After summing large logarithms to all orders the CP-asymmetries in Delta S=0 and Delta S=1 decays are found as a_{CP} (Delta S=0) = (2.0 +1.2/-1.0)% and a_{CP} (Delta S=1) = ( -1.0 +/- 0.5)%. These results are much larger than previous estimates based on a work without summation of large logarithms. We further show that the dominant contribution to a_{CP} (ΔS=0 ) is proportional to (sin gamma) times |V_{cb}/V_{ub}|. The constraints on the apex (rho-bar,eta-bar) of the unitarity triangle obtained from these two CP…
In this work, we calculate the $CP$-averaged branching ratios and the direct $CP$-violating asymmetries of the quasi-two-body decays $B_{(s)} \to P (ρ\to) ππ$ by employing the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach (here $P$ stands for a light pseudoscalar meson $π, K, η$ or $η^{\prime}$). The vector current time-like form factor $F_π$, which contains the final state interactions between the pion pair in the resonant region associated with the $P$-wave states $ρ(770)$ along with the two-pion distribution amplitudes, are employed to describe the interactions between the $ρ$ and the pion pair under th…
We analyze the $B\to K_2^*(\to Kπ)l^+l^-$ (with $l=e,μ,τ$) decay in the standard model and two new physics scenarios: vector-like quark model and family non-universal $Z'$ model. We derive its differential angular distributions, using the recently calculated form factors in the perturbative QCD approach. Branching ratios, polarizations, forward-backward asymmetries and transversity amplitudes are predicted, from which we find a promising prospective to observe this channel on the future experiment. We also update the constraints on effective Wilson coefficients and/or free parameters in these …
