A new class of cylindrically symmetric inhomogeneous cosmological models for perfect fluid distribution with electromagnetic field is obtained in the context of Lyra's geometry. We have obtained two types of solutions by considering the uniform as well as time dependent displacement field. The source of the magnetic field is due to an electric current produced along the z-axis. Only $F_{12}$ is a non-vanishing component of electromagnetic field tensor. To get the deterministic solution, it has been assumed that the expansion $θ$ in the model is proportional to the shear $σ$. It has been found that the solutions are consistent with the recent observations of type Ia supernovae and the displacement vector $β(t)$ affects entropy. Physical and geometric aspects of the models are also discussed in presence and absence of magnetic field.
Exact solutions are obtained for an inhomogeneous cosmological model in normal gauge for Lyra geometry. Some properties of the model have also been discussed.
We have investigated an inhomogeneous Bianchi type-I cosmological model with electromagnetic field based on Lyra geometry. A new class of exact solutions have been obtained by considering the potentials of metric and displacement field are functions of coordinates t and x. The physical behavior of the obtained model is discussed.
Some bulk viscous general solutions are found for domain walls in Lyra geometry in the plane symmetric inhomogeneous spacetime. Expressions for the energy density and pressure of domain walls are derived in both cases of uniform and time varying displacement field $β$. The viscosity coefficient of bulk viscous fluid is assumed to be a power function of mass density. Some physical consequences of the models are also given. Finally, the geodesic equations and acceleration of the test particle are discussed.
The plane-symmetric inhomogeneous cosmological models of perfect fluid distribution with electro-magnetic field is obtained in the framework of Lyra's geometry. To get the deterministic solution, I have considered $ A=f(x)ν(t) $, $ B=g(x)μ(t) $ and $ C=h(x)μ(t) $, where A, B and C are metric coefficients. It has been found that the solutions generalize the solution obtained by Pradhan, Yadav and Singh (2007) and are consistent with the recent observations of type Ia supernovae. A detailed study of physical and kinematical properties of the models have been carried out.
Inhomogeneous Bianchi type-I cosmological model with electro-magnetic field based on Lyra geometry is investigated. Using separated method, the Einstein field equations have been solved analytically with the aid of Mathematica programm. A new class of exact solutions have been obtained by considering the potentials of metric and displacement field are functions of coordinates t and x. We have assumed that F(12) is the only non-vanishing component of electro-magnetic field tensor F(ij). The Maxwells equations show that F(12) is the function of x alone whereas the magnetic permeability is the fu…
LRS Bianchi type-I models have been studied in the cosmological theory based on Lyra's geometry. A new class of exact solutions has been obtained by considering a time dependent displacement field for variable deceleration parameter models of the universe. We have compared our models with those of Einstein's field theory with the cosmological term $Λ$. Our frame of reference is restricted to the recent Ia observations of supernovae. Some physical behaviour of the models is also examined in the presence of perfect fluids.
We show that the analysis presented in a recent comment by Coll and Ferrando \cite{comment} (qr-qc/0312058) is based on the erroneous assumption that the chemical potential and fractional concentration of a {\it mixture} of perfect fluids are unknown variables.
In spite of a recent reply by Quevedo and Zárate (gr-qc/0403096), their assertion that their thermodynamic scheme for a perfect fluid binary mixture is incompatible with Szekeres and Stephani families of universes, except those of FRW ones, remains wrong.
In this paper, we have searched the existence of the similarity solution for plane symmetric inhomogeneous cosmological models in general relativity. The matter source consists of perfect fluid with proportionality relation between expansion scalar and shear scalar. The isovector fields of Einstein's field equation for the models under consideration are derived. A new class of exact solutions of Einstein's field equation have been obtained for inhomogeneous space-time. The physical behaviors and geometric aspects of the derived models have been discussed in detail.
It is shown that inhomogeneous Szekeres and Stephani universes exist corresponding to non-dissipative binary mixtures of perfect fluids in local thermal equilibrium. This result contradicts a recent statement by Zárate and Quevedo (2004 Class. Quantum Grav. {\bf 21} 197, {\it Preprint} gr-qc/0310087), which affirms that the only Szekeres and Stephani universes compatible with these fluids are the homogeneous Friedmann-Robertson-Walker models. Thus, contrarily to their conclusion, their thermodynamic scheme do not gives new indications of incompatibility between thermodynamics and relativity. T…
In this paper we investigate a class of solutions of Einstein equations for the plane-symmetric perfect fluid case with shear and vanishing acceleration. If these solutions have shear, they must necessarily be non-static. We examine the integrable cases of the field equations systematically. Among the cases with shear we find three classes of solutions.
A plane-symmetric inhomogeneous cosmological model of perfect fluid distribution with electro-magnetic field is obtained. The source of the magnetic field is due to an electric current produced along the z-axis. $F_{12}$ is the non-vanishing component of electromagnetic field tensor. To get a deterministic solution, we assume the free gravitational field is Petrov type-II non-degenerate. The behaviour of the electro-magnetic field tensor together with some physical aspects of the model are also discussed.
We analyze the compatibility between the geometrodynamics and thermodynamics of a binary mixture of perfect fluids which describe inhomogeneous cosmological models. We generalize the thermodynamic scheme of general relativity to include the chemical potential of the fluid mixture with non-vanishing entropy production. This formalism is then applied to the case of Szekeres and Stephani families of cosmological models. The compatibility conditions turn out to impose symmetry conditions on the cosmological models in such a way that only the limiting case of the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker model re…
The inhomogeneous cosmological model with matter in the form self-acting scalar field and perfect fluid is considered. On the basis of exact solutions is considered the evolution of density distribution of a matter in space on a background cosmological expansion by the Universe. Is shown, the first, in such model the equation of a matter state is variable in time and is closely connected to character cosmological expansions. Secondly, it is shown with point of view of the observer the Universe looks as space flat, but with effect of latent mass. This effect consists in that the mass of a perfe…
The paper deals with the investigation of a homogeneous and anisotropic space-time described by Bianchi type III metric with perfect fluid in Lyra geometry setting. Exact solutions of the Einsten's field equations have been obtained under the assumption of quadratic equation of state (EoS) of the form p=a(rho)^2-(rho), where a is a constant and strictly a>0. The physical and geometrical aspects are also examined in details.
In the first part of the present paper, we show that O(d,d)-invariance usually known in a homogeneous cosmological background written in terms of proper time can be extended to backgrounds depending on one or several coordinates (which may be any space-like or time-like coordinate(s)). In all cases, the presence of a perfect fluid is taken into account and the equivalent duality transformation in Einstein frame is explicitly given. In the second part, we present several concrete applications to some four-dimensional metrics, including inhomogeneous ones, which illustrate the different duality …
This paper is about the $n+2$-dimensional gravitational contraction of inhomogeneous fluid without heat flux in the framework of $f(R)$ metric theory of gravity. Matching conditions for two regions of a star has been derived by using the Darmois junction conditions. For the analytic solution of equations of motion in modified $f(R)$ theory of gravity, we have taken scalar curvature as constant. Hence final result of gravitational collapse in this frame work is the existence of black hole and cosmological horizons, both of these form earlier than singularity. It has been shown that constant cur…
We study the complete gravitational collapse of a class of spherically symmetric inhomogeneous perfect fluid models obtained by introducing small radial perturbations in an otherwise homogeneous matter cloud. Our aim here is to study the genericity and stability of the formation of black holes and locally naked singularities in collapse. While the occurrence of naked singularities is known for many models of collapse, the key issue now in focus is genericity and stability of these outcomes. Towards this purpose, we study how the introduction of a somewhat general class of small inhomogeneities…
We present a singularity free class of inhomogeneous cylindrical universes filled with stiff perfect fluid $(ρ= p)$. Its matter free $ (ρ= 0)$ limit yield two distinct vacuum spacetimes which can be considered as analogues of Kasner solution for inhomogeneous singularity free spacetime.
For general relativistic spacetimes filled with an irrotational perfect fluid a generalized form of Friedmann's equations governing the expansion factor of spatially averaged portions of inhomogeneous cosmologies is derived. The averaging problem for scalar quantities is condensed into the problem of finding an `effective equation of state' including kinematical as well as dynamical `backreaction' terms that measure the departure from a standard FLRW cosmology. Applications of the averaged models are outlined including radiation-dominated and scalar field cosmologies (inflationary and dilaton/…
The present work deals with three alternative generalized Bekenstein-Hawking formulation of thermodynamical parameters namely entropy and temperature for the universal thermodynamical system bounded by a horizon in the frame work of inhomogeneous perfect fluid Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi (LTB) model of the Universe. For the first choice, the first law of thermodynamics holds only for the trivial de Sitter case of the LTB model while we need restriction on the evolution of the horizon radius for the validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics. However, for the other two choices, the firs…
New nondiagonal $G_{2}$ inhomogeneous cosmological solutions are presented in a wide range of scalar-tensor theories with a stiff perfect fluid as a matter source. The solutions have no big-bang singularity or any other curvature singularities. The dilaton field and the fluid energy density are everywhere regular, too. The geodesic completeness of the solutions is investigated.
In this paper we present a class of exact inhomogeneous solutions to Einstein's equations for higher dimensional Szekeres metric with perfect fluid and a cosmological constant. We also show particular solutions depending on the choices of various parameters involved and for dust case. Finally, we examine the asymptotic behaviour of some of these solutions.
We present a new non-diagonal G2 inhomogeneous perfect-fluid solution with barotropic equation of state p=rho and positive density everywhere. It satisfies the global hyperbolicity condition and has no curvature singularity anywhere. This solution is very simple in form and has two arbitrary constants.
We present a class of singularity free exact cosmological solutions of Einstein's equations describing a perfect fluid with heat flow. It is obtained as generalization of the Senovilla class [1] corresponding to incoherent radiation field. The spacetime is cylindrically symmetric and globally regular.
We investigate quasilocal horizons in inhomogeneous cosmological models, specifically concentrating on the notion of a trapping horizon defined by Hayward as a hypersurface foliated by marginally trapped surfaces. We calculate and analyse these quasilocally defined horizons in two dynamical spacetimes used as inhomogeneous cosmological models with perfect fluid source of non-zero pressure. In the spherically symmetric Lemaître spacetime we discover that the horizons (future and past) are both null hypersurfaces provided that the Misner-Sharp mass is constant along the horizons. Under the same …
We present two classes of inhomogeneous, spherically symmetric solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell-Perfect Fluid field equations with cosmological constant generalizing the Vaidya-Shah solution. Some special limits of our solution reduce to the known inhomogeneous charged perfect fluid solutions of the Einstein field equations and under some other limits we obtain new charged and uncharged solutions with cosmological constant. Uncharged solutions in particular represent cosmological models where the universe may undergo a topology change and in between is a mixture of two different Friedmann-Rob…
We present a method for generating exact diagonal $G_2$-cosmological solutions in dilaton gravity coupled to a radiation perfect fluid and with a cosmological potential of a special type. The method is based on the symmetry group of the system of $G_2$-field equations. Several new classes of explicit exact inhomogeneous perfect fluid scalar-tensor cosmologies are presented.
We present the exact equations governing the dynamics of a spherically-symmetric inhomogeneous model with n decoupled and non-comoving perfect fluids. Thanks to the use of physically meaningful quantities we write the set of 3+2n equations in a concise and transparent way. The n perfect fluids can have general equations of state, thus making the model extremely flexible to study a large variety of cosmological and astrophysical problems. As applications we consider a model sourced by two non-comoving dust components and a cosmological constant, and a model featuring dust and a dark energy comp…
Collapsing process is studied in special type of inhomogeneous spherically symmetric space-time model (known as IFRW model), having no time-like Killing vector field. The matter field for collapse dynamics is considered to be perfect fluid with anisotropic pressure. The main issue of the present investigation is to examine whether the end state of the collapse to be a naked singularity or a black hole. Finally, null geodesics is studied near the singularity.
In the present work, gravitational collapse of an inhomogeneous spherical star model, consisting of inhomogeneous dust fluid (dark matter) in the background of dark energy is considered. The collapsing process is examined first separately for both dark matter and dark energy and then under the combined effect of dark matter and dark energy with or without interaction. The dark energy is considered in the form of perfect fluid and both marginally and non-marginally bound cases are considered for the collapsing model. Finally dark energy in the form of anisotropic fluid is investigated and it is…
We investigate here the locally naked singularity formed due to a spherically symmetric inhomogeneous collapsing cloud having non-zero isotropic pressure, in terms of its strength. Sufficient condition provided by Clarke and Krolak for it to be Tipler strong has been used to restrict the parameters that represent the non-linear relation between the physical radius and the radial coordinate of the outgoing radial null geodesic at the singular center. Studying end state of a collapsing cloud requires information about the dynamics of collapse, which is unknown in a general scenario. Hence we stu…
Motivated by the geometrical interpretation of Brans-Dicke (BD) scalar field which may also act as a torsion potential in Lyra geometry, we study the effects of spacetime torsion on the dynamics of a collapsing massive star. Taking the interior spacetime as the FLRW metric and the matter content as spherically symmetric, homogeneous perfect fluid with the equation of state (EoS) $p=wρ$, we show that the collapse ends in a spacetime singularity which is of the strong curvature type in the sense of Tipler. Whether the trapped surfaces form during the dynamical evolution of the collapse depends o…
So far all known singularity-free cosmological models are cylindrically symmetric. Here we present a new family of spherically symmetric non-singular models filled with imperfect fluid and radial heat flow, and satisfying the weak and strong energy conditions. For large $t$ anisotropy in pressure and heat flux tend to vanish leading to a perfect fluid. There is a free function of time in the model, which can be suitably chosen for non-singular behaviour and there exist multiplicity of such choices.
We consider the general orthogonal metric separable in space and time variables in comoving coordinates. We then characterise perfect fluid models admitted by such a metric. It turns out that the homogeneous models can only be either FLRW or Bianchi I while the inhomogeneous ones can only admit $G_2 $ (two mutually as well as hypersurface orthogonal spacelike Killing vectors) isometry. The latter can possess singularities of various kinds or none. The non-singular family is however unique and cylindrically symmetric.
A brief summary of results on homotheties in General Relativity is given, including general information about space-times admitting an r-parameter group of homothetic transformations for r>2, as well as some specific results on perfect fluids. Attention is then focussed on inhomogeneous models, in particular on those with a homothetic group $H_4$ (acting multiply transitively) and $H_3$. A classification of all possible Lie algebra structures along with (local) coordinate expressions for the metric and homothetic vectors is then provided (irrespectively of the matter content), and some new per…
In this talk we would like to review recent results on non-singular cosmological models. It has been recently shown that among stiff perfect fluid inhomogeneous spacetimes the absence of singularities is more common than it was expected in the literature. We would like to generalize these results and apply them to other matter sources.
We employ recently developed approximation methods in the hybrid quantization of the Gowdy $T^3$ model with linear polarization and a massless scalar field to obtain physically interesting solutions of this inhomogeneous cosmology. More specifically, we propose approximate solutions of the quantum Gowdy model constructed in such a way that, for the Hamiltonian constraint, they effectively behave as those corresponding to a flat homogeneous and isotropic universe filled with a perfect fluid, even though these quantum states are far from being homogeneous and isotropic. We analyze how one can ge…
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the existence of static stable Einstein universe using inhomogeneous linear perturbations in the context of $f(R,T)$ gravity ($R$ and $T$ denote the scalar curvature and trace of the stress-energy tensor, respectively). The static and perturbed field equations are constructed for perfect fluid parameterized by linear equation of state parameter. We obtain solutions manifesting the Einstein static state by considering peculiar $f(R,T)$ forms for vanishing and non-vanishing conservation of the stress-energy tensor. It is observed that stable static Einstei…
The stability analysis of self-similar solutions is an important approach to confirm whether they act as an attractor in general non-self-similar gravitational collapse. Assuming that the collapsing matter is a perfect fluid with the equation of state $P=αρ$, we study spherically symmetric non-self-similar perturbations in homogeneous self-similar collapse described by the flat Friedmann solution. In the low pressure approximation $α\ll 1$, we analytically derive an infinite set of the normal modes and their growth (or decay) rate. The existence of one unstable normal mode is found to conclude…
We study the hybrid quantization of the linearly polarized Gowdy $T^3$ model with a massless scalar field with the same symmetries as the metric. For simplicity, we quantize its restriction to the model with local rotational symmetry. Using this hybrid approach, the homogeneous degrees of freedom of the geometry are quantized à la loop, leading to the resolution of the cosmological singularity. A Fock quantization is employed both for the matter and the gravitational inhomogeneities. Owing to the inclusion of the massless scalar field this system allows us to modelize flat Friedmann-Robertson-…
We present an explicit three-parameter class of $p=γ\varrho$, ($-1/3\leqγ<1$), cosmological models admitting a two-dimensional group $G_{2}$ of isometries acting on spacelike surfaces. The family is self-similar in the sense that it has a further homothetic vector field and it contains subfamilies of both (previously unknown) tilted and non-tilted Bianchi models with that equation of state. This is the first algebraically general class of solutions of this kind including dust inhomogeneous solutions. The whole class presents a universal spacelike big-bang singularity in the finite past. More i…
We use null spherical (observational) coordinates to describe a class of inhomogeneous cosmological models. The proposed cosmological construction is based on the observer past null cone. A known difficulty in using inhomogeneous models is that the null geodesic equation is not integrable in general. Our choice of null coordinates solves the radial ingoing null geodesic by construction. Furthermore, we use an approach where the velocity field is uniquely calculated from the metric rather than put in by hand. Conveniently, this allows us to explore models in a non-comoving frame of reference. I…
The properties of LRS class II perfect fluid space-times are analyzed using the description of geometries in terms of the Riemann tensor and a finite number of its covariant derivatives. In this manner it is straightforward to obtain the plane and hyperbolic analogues to the spherical symmetric case. For spherically symmetric static models the set of equations is reduced to the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equation only. Some new non-stationary and inhomogeneous solutions with shear, expansion, and acceleration of the fluid are presented. Among these are a class of temporally self-similar soluti…
In a recent paper a systematic study on shearing expansion-free spherically symmetric distributions was presented. As a particular case of such systems, the Skripkin model was mentioned, which corresponds to a nondissipative perfect fluid with a constant energy density. Here we show that such a model is inconsistent with junction conditions. It is shown that in general for any nondissipative fluid distribution, the expansion-free condition requires the energy density to be inhomogeneous. As an example we consider the case of dust, which allows for a complete integration.
We construct a model of a universe filled with a perfect fluid with isotropic particle pressure. The anisotropic plane symmetric Kasner spacetime is used as a seed metric and through a conformal mapping a perfect fluid is generated. The model is inhomogeneous, irrotational, shearing and accelerating. For negative time, the universe is expanding while for positive time it is collapsing. With the aid of graphical three dimensional plots it is established that the density and pressure hypersurfaces are smooth and singularity free. Additionally the sound-speed index is computed and the fluid obeys…
A detailed study of an inhomogeneous dust cosmology contained in a $γ$-law family of perfect-fluid metrics recently presented by Mars and Senovilla is performed. The metric is shown to be the most general orthogonally transitive, Abelian, $G_2$ on $S_2$ solution admitting an additional homothety such that the self-similar group $H_3$ is of Bianchi type VI and the fluid flow is tangent to its orbits. The analogous cases with Bianchi types I, II, III, V, VIII and IX are shown to be impossible thus making this metric privileged from a mathematical viewpoint. The differential equations determining…
We propose a cosmological model that describes isotropic expansion of inhomogeneous universe. The energy-momentum tensor that creates the spatial inhomogeneity may not affect the uniform expansion scaling factor $a(t)$ in the FLRW-like metrics. Such energy-momentum tensor may not be exotic; in fact any linear or non-linear $σ$-model has this feature. We show that the classical spatial inhomogeneity can be embedded in both inflation models and the traditional cosmological expansion by perfect fluid. The spatial inhomogeneity resembles the primordial quantum perturbation that was frozen in the c…
We investigate the turbulence effect in dark fluid universe with linear inhomogeneous equation of state. Attention is attached to two physical situations. First, we perform the perturbative analysis of turbulence and check its effects around the Big Rip. Later, treating the turbulence energy density as a part of total dark fluid, we study the stability of the system. The result shows that the stability is achieving as the energy density of turbulence decreases, changing into heat (the radiation), in perfect agreement with the avoidance of the Big Rip.
We investigate a simple inhomogeneous anisotropic cosmology (plane symmetric $G_2$ model) filled with a tilted perfect fluid undergoing velocity diffusion on a scalar field. Considered are two types of fluid: dust and radiation. We solve the system of Einstein field equations and diffusion equations numerically and demonstrate how the universe evolves towards its future asymptotic state. Also, typical time scales of characteristic processes are determined. The obtained results for dust- and radiation-filled cosmologies are compared to each other and to those in the diffusionless case, giving a…
The purpose of this paper is to further investigate the solution space of self-similar spherically symmetric perfect-fluid models and gain deeper understanding of the physical aspects of these solutions. We achieve this by combining the state space description of the homothetic approach with the use of the physically interesting quantities arising in the comoving approach. We focus on three types of models. First, we consider models that are natural inhomogeneous generalizations of the Friedmann Universe; such models are asymptotically Friedmann in their past and evolve fluctuations in the ene…
We examine the role of space-time geometry in the non-adiabatic collapse of a star dissipating energy in the form of radial heat flow, studying its evolution under different initial conditions. The collapse of a star with interior comprising of a homogeneous perfect fluid is compared with that of a star filled with inhomogeneous imperfect fluid with anisotropic pressure. Both the configurations are spherically symmetric, however, in the latter case, the physical space $t= constant$ of the configurations is assumed to be inhomogeneous endowed with spheroidal or pseudo-spheroidal geometry. It is…
Instead of conformal to flat spacetime, we take the metric conformal to a spacetime which can be thought of as ``minimally'' curved in the sense that free particles experience no gravitational force yet it has non-zero curvature. The base spacetime can be written in the Kerr-Schild form in spherical polar coordinates. The conformal metric then admits the unique three parameter family of perfect fluid solution which is static and inhomogeneous. The density and pressure fall off in the curvature radial coordinates as $R^{-2}, $ for unbounded cosmological model with a barotropic equation of state…
The gravitational collapse of a barotropic perfect fluid having the Equation of State (EoS) $p=kρ$, where $k$ is constant, is studied here in the framework of general relativity. We examine the restrictions on the Misner-Sharp mass function, because of the introduction of such an EoS, in terms of the compatibility of a certain pair of quasi-linear partial differential equations, obtained from Einstein's field equations. We find that except when this system of PDEs reduces to ODEs because of additional symmetries imposed on the spacetimes, or when they become compatible with each other in some …
We study quantum cosmology with conformal matter comprising a perfect radiation fluid and a number of conformally coupled scalar fields. Focusing initially on the collective coordinates (minisuperspace) associated with homogeneous, isotropic backgrounds, we are able to perform the quantum gravity path integral exactly. The evolution describes a "perfect bounce", in which the Universe passes smoothly through the singularity. We extend the analysis to spatially flat, anisotropic universes, treated exactly, and to generic inhomogeneous, anisotropic perturbations treated at linear and nonlinear or…
The dynamics of perfect fluid spacetime geometries which exhibit {\em Local Rotational Symmetry} (LRS) are reformulated in the language of a $1+\,3$ "threading" decomposition of the spacetime manifold, where covariant fluid and curvature variables are used. This approach presents a neat alternative to the orthonormal frame formalism. The dynamical equations reduce to a set of differential relations between purely scalar quantities. The consistency conditions are worked out in a transparent way. We discuss their various subcases in detail and focus in particular on models with higher symmetries…
