The purpose of this paper is to analyze the existence of static stable Einstein universe using inhomogeneous linear perturbations in the context of $f(R,T)$ gravity ($R$ and $T$ denote the scalar curvature and trace of the stress-energy tensor, respectively). The static and perturbed field equations are constructed for perfect fluid parameterized by linear equation of state parameter. We obtain solutions manifesting the Einstein static state by considering peculiar $f(R,T)$ forms for vanishing and non-vanishing conservation of the stress-energy tensor. It is observed that stable static Einstein regions exist for both closed as well as open FLRW universe models for an appropriate choice of parameters. We conclude that this theory is efficient for presenting such cosmological solutions leading to emergent universe scenario.
We present the study of exact inhomogeneous cosmological solutions to a four-dimensional low energy limit of string theory containing non-minimal interacting electromagnetic, dilaton and axion fields. We analyze Einstein-Rosen solutions of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton-axion equations and show, by explicitly taken the asymptotic limits, that they have asymptotically velocity-term dominated (AVTD) singularities.
We investigate the existence of inhomogeneous Szekeres spacetimes in Einstein-æther theory. We show that inhomogeneous solutions which can be seen as extension of the Szekeres solutions existing in Einstein-æther gravity only for a specific relation between the dimensionless coefficients which defines the coupling between the æther filed with gravity. The two Szekeres classes of solutions are derived. Also a class of inhomogeneous FLRW-like spacetimes is allowed by the theory for arbitrary values of the dimensionless coefficients of the æther field. The stability of the solutions obtained is p…
For space-times with two spacelike isometries, we present infinite hierarchies of exact solutions of the Einstein and Einstein--Maxwell equations as represented by their Ernst potentials. This hierarchy contains three arbitrary rational functions of an auxiliary complex parameter. They are constructed using the so called `monodromy transform' approach and our new method for the solution of the linear singular integral equation form of the reduced Einstein equations. The solutions presented, which describe inhomogeneous cosmological models or gravitational and electromagnetic waves and their in…
We consider the conformal Einstein equations for massless collisionless gas cosmologies which admit an isotropic singularity. It is shown that the Cauchy problem for these equations is well-posed with data consisting of the limiting particle distribution function at the singularity.
The evolution of a class of inhomogeneous spherically symmetric universe models possessing a varying cosmological term and a material fluid, with an adiabatic index either constant or not, is studied.
A family of cosmological models is considered which in a certain synchronized system of reference possess flat slices t = const. They are generated from the Einstein-de Sitter universe by a suitable transformation. Under physically reasonable presumptions these transformed models fulfil certain energy conditions.
It is discussed a truncation of the kinematical Hilbert space of Loop Quantum Gravity, which describes the dynamical system associated with an inhomogeneous cosmological model.
A novel class of Einstein vacua is presented, which possess non-vanishing cosmological constant and accelerating horizon with the topology of $S^{D-3}$ fibration over $S^{1}$. After Euclideanization, the solution describes a conformally distorted $S^{D-1}$ fibration over $S^1$, which is smooth, compact and inhomogeneous, and can be regarded as analogue of Don Page's gravitational instanton.
Purely time dependent solutions in four-dimensional Einstein-Cartan-Kalb-Ramond (ECKR) theory of gravity are shown not to be possible leading to a trivial vanishing of all Kalb-Ramond fields. This result seems to contradict previously results obtained by SenGupta et al. (Class. and Quantum Gravity 19(2002)677) where de Sitter spacetime solution is found as an example of opticaly active spacetime. It seems that only inhomogeneous KR fields are possible in four-dimensional torsioned spacetimes.
The process of quantum creation of a qusihomogeneous inflationary universe near a cosmological singularity is considered. It is shown that during the evolution quantum fluctuations of spatial topologies increase and the universe acquires homogeneous and isotropic character on arbitrary large distances.
We investigate the quantum vacuum and find the fluctuations can lead to the inhomogeneous quantum vacuum. We find that the vacuum fluctuations can significantly influence the cosmological inhomogeneity, which is different from what previously expected. By introducing the modified Green's function, we reach a new inflationary scenario which can explain why the Universe is still expanding without slowing down. We also calculate the tunneling amplitude of the Universe based on the inhomogeneous vacuum. We find that the inhomogeneity can lead to the penetration of the universe over the potential b…
We present new exact inhomogeneous vacuum cosmological solutions of Einstein's equations. They provide new information about the nature of general cosmological solutions to Einstein's equations.
A scenario of an emergent universe is constructed in the background of an inhomogeneous space-time model which is asymptotically (at spatial infinity) FRW space-time. The cosmic substratum consists of non-interacting two components, namely {\bf a)} homogeneous and isotropic fluid but dissipative in nature and {\bf b)} an inhomogeneous and anisotropic barotropic fluid. In non-equilibrium thermodynamic prescription (second order deviations), particle creation mechanism is considered the cause for the dissipative phenomena. It is found that for constant value of the particle creation rate paramet…
Specific dark energy models with linear inhomogeneous time-dependent equation of state, within the framework of 4d Friedman-Robertson-Walker (FRW) cosmology, are investigated. It is demonstrated that the choice of such 4d inhomogeneous fluid models may lead to a brane FRW cosmology without any explicit account of higher dimensions at all. Effectively, we thus obtain a brane dark energy universe without introducing the brane concept explicitly. Several examples of brane Rip cosmology arising from 4d inhomogeneous dark fluid models are given.
We consider a Lemaitre - Tolman - Bondi type space-time in Einstein gravity with the Gauss-Bonnet combination of quadratic curvature terms, and present exact solution in closed form. It turns out that the presence of the coupling constant of the Gauss-Bonnet terms alpha > 0 completely changes the causal structure of the singularities from the analogous general relativistic case. The gravitational collapse of inhomogeneous dust in the five-dimensional Gauss-Bonnet extended Einstein equations leads to formation of a massive, but weak, timelike singularity which is forbidden in general relativity…
Starting from an inhomogeneous space-time model of the universe we could recreate a scenario of recent time accelerating universe dominated by Dark Energy type of fluid. The background matter component of such a universe was considered to be made up of a combination of an anisotropic fluid, a barotropic fluid and the presureless cold dark matter. It was found that inhomogeneity exhibits itself as the curvature term in such a universe. We corroborated our model with recent supernova Ia-JLA data together with $H_{0}$ data and BAO data. Cosmographic analysis of the dynamical variables further sho…
We give a brief review of some aspects of inhomogeneous viscous fluids in a flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker Universe. In general, it is pointed out that several fluid models may bring the future Universe evolution to become singular, with the appearance of the so-called Big Rip scenario. We investigate the effects of fluids coupled with dark matter in a de Sitter Universe, by considering several cases. Due to this coupling, the coincidence problem may be solved, and if the de Sitter solution is stable, the model is also protected against the Big Rip singularity.
We analyze the apparent horizon dynamics in the inhomogeneous Clifton-Mota-Barrow solution of Brans-Dicke theory. This solution models a central matter configuration embedded in a cosmological background. In certain regions of the parameter space we find solutions exhibiting dynamical creation or merging of two horizons.
Cylindrically symmetric inhomogeneous string cosmological models are investigated in presence of string fluid as a source of matter. To get the three types of exact solutions of Einstein's field equations we assume $A = f(x)k(t)$, $B = g(x)\ell(t)$ and $C = h(x)\ell(t)$. Some physical and geometric aspects of the models are discussed.
Isotropic inhomogeneous dust universes are analysed via observational coordinates based on the past light cones of the observer's galactic worldline. The field equations are reduced to a single first--order {\sc ode} in observational variables on the past light cone, completing the observational integration scheme. This leads naturally to an explicit exact solution which is locally nearly homogeneous (i.e. {\sc frw}), but at larger redshift develops inhomogeneity. New observational characterisations of homogeneity ({\sc frw} universes) are also given.
The relation between the angular diameter distance and redshift in a spherically symmetric dust-shell universe is studied. We have discovered that the relation agrees with that of an appropriate Friedmann-Lemaitre (FL) model if we set a ``homogeneous'' expansion law and a ``homogeneous'' averaged density field. This will support the averaging hypothesis that a universe looks like a FL model in spite of small-scale fluctuations of density field, if its averaged density field is homogeneous on large scales. We also study the connection of the proper mass of a shell with the mass of gravitational…
Assuming conformally flat metric we obtain inhomogeneous solutions of Einstein equations with the energy-momentum of a viscous fluid. We suggest that the viscous solution can be applied as a model of an expanding inhomogeneous dark energy.
We consider inhomogeneous viscous fluids in flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe. We analyze different kinds of such fluids and investigate the possibility to reproduce the current cosmic acceleration providing a different future evolution with respect to the Cosmological Constant case. In particular, we study the presence of finite-future time singularities. We also discuss a general class of "integrable" viscous fluid models whose bulk viscosities obey to a common differential equation.
We briefly report on a previously found new, approximate, solution to Einstein field equations, describing a cubic lattice of spherical masses. This model mimics in a satisfactory way a Universe which can be strongly inhomogeneous at small scales, but quite homogeneous at large ones. As a consequence of field equations, the lattice Universe is found to expand or contract in the same way as the solution of a Friedmann Universe filled with dust having the same average density. The study of observables indicates however the possible existence of a fitting problem, i.e. the fact that the Friedmann…
We study how the initial inhomogeneities of the universe affect the onset of inflation in the closed universe. We consider the model of a chaotic inflation which is driven by a massive scalar field. In order to construct an inhomogeneous universe model, we use the long wavelength approximation ( the gradient expansion method ). We show the condition of the inhomogeneities for the universe to enter the inflationary phase.
The relation between angular diameter distance and redshift in a spherically symmetric dust-shell universe is studied. This model has large inhomogeneities of matter distribution on small scales. We have discovered that the relation agrees with that of an appropriate Friedmann-Lemaitre(FL) model if we set a ``homogeneous'' expansion law and a ``homogeneous'' averaged density field. This will support the averaging hypothesis that a universe looks like a FL model in spite of small-scale fluctuations of density field, if its averaged density field is homogeneous on large scales.
A new class of cylindrically symmetric inhomogeneous string cosmological models is investigated. To get the deterministic solution, it has been assumed that the expansion ($θ$) in the model is proportional to the eigen value $σ^{1}_{1}$ of the shear tensor $σ^{i}_{j}$. The physical and geometric aspects of the model are also discussed.
In this paper we study a class of inhomogeneous cosmological models which is a modified version of what is usually called the Lemaître-Tolman model. We assume that we have a space with 2-dimensional locally homogeneous spacelike surfaces. In addition we assume they are compact. Classically we investigate both homogeneous and inhomogeneous spacetimes which this model describe. For instance one is a quotient of the AdS$_4$ space which resembles the BTZ black hole in AdS$_3$. Due to the complexity of the model we indicate a simpler model which can be quantized easily. This model still has the fea…
We present a special case of the Stephani solution with spherical symmetry while considering different values of spatial curvature. We investigate the dynamics of the universe evolution in our model, build the R--T-regions for the resulting spacetime and analyze the behavior of the deceleration parameter. The singularities of the model are also discussed. The geometry of the spatial part of the obtained solution is explored.
The behavior of magnetic field in plane symmetric inhomogeneous cosmological models for bulk viscous distribution is investigated. The coefficient of bulk viscosity is assumed to be a power function of mass density $(ξ=ξ_{0}ρ^{n})$. The values of cosmological constant for these models are found to be small and positive which are supported by the results from recent supernovae Ia observations. Some physical and geometric aspects of the models are also discussed.
Examples are presented of applications of the Lemaître - Tolman model to problems of astrophysics and gravitation theory. They are: 1. Inferring the spatial distribution of matter by interpretation of observations; 2. Interaction of inhomogeneities in matter distribution with the CMB radiation; 3. Evolution of voids; 4. Singularities; 5. Influence of electromagnetic field on gravitational collapse. This review is meant to demonstrate that the theory is already well-prepared to meet the challenges posed by an inhomogeneous Universe.
Thermodynamical Behaviour of Inhomogeneous Universe with Varying $ Λ$ in Presence of Electromagnetic Field is obtained. $ F_{12} $ is the non-vanishing component of electromagnetic field tensor. To get a deterministic solution, it is assumed that the free gravitational field is Petrov type-II non-degenerate.The value of cosmological constant is found to be small and pasitive supported by recent results from the supernovae observations recently obtained by High-Z Supernovae Ia Team and Supernovae Cosmological Project. A relation between cosmological constant and thermodynamical quantities is es…
Beginning with a special form of the Einstein-Rosen metric, we find new cosmological solutions of the Einstein equations, having two hypersurface-orthogonal Killing vectors , with ideal fluid. The equation of state is in the most cases of the form $p = γρ$.
We obtain a scaling relation for spherically symmetric k-essence scalar fields $ϕ(r,t)$ for an inhomogeneous cosmology with the Lemaitre-Tolman- Bondi (LTB) metric. We show that this scaling relation reduces to the known relation for a homogeneous cosmology when the LTB metric reduces to the Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) metric under certain identifications of the metric functions. A k-essence lagrangian is set up and the Euler-Lagrangian equations solved assuming $ϕ(r,t)=ϕ_{1}(r) + ϕ_{2}(t)$. The solutions enable the LBT metric functions to be related to the fields. The LTB inhom…
We construct exact static inhomogeneous solutions to Einstein's equations with counter flow of particle fluid and a positive cosmological constant by using the Sasaki metrics on three-dimensional spaces. The solutions, which admit an arbitrary function that denotes inhomogeneous number density of particles, are a generalization of Einstein's static universe. On some examples of explicit solutions, we discuss non-linear density contrast and deviation of the metric functions.
A new family of spherically symmetric inhomogeneous solutions of Brans-Dicke gravity is generated using the Fonarev solution of general relativity as a seed and a map from the Einstein to the Jordan conformal frame. The Brans-Dicke scalar field self-interacts with a power-law or inverse power-law potential in the Jordan frame. This 4-parameter family of geometries, which is dynamical and asymptotically Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker, contains as special cases two previously known classes of solutions and solves also the field equations of $f(R)=R^n$ gravity
The plane-symmetric inhomogeneous cosmological models of perfect fluid distribution with electro-magnetic field is obtained in the framework of Lyra's geometry. To get the deterministic solution, I have considered $ A=f(x)ν(t) $, $ B=g(x)μ(t) $ and $ C=h(x)μ(t) $, where A, B and C are metric coefficients. It has been found that the solutions generalize the solution obtained by Pradhan, Yadav and Singh (2007) and are consistent with the recent observations of type Ia supernovae. A detailed study of physical and kinematical properties of the models have been carried out.
Cylindrically symmetric inhomogeneous magnetized string cosmological model is investigated with cosmological term $Λ$ varying with time. To get the deterministic solution, it has been assumed that the expansion ($θ$) in the model is proportional to the eigenvalue $σ^{1}_{1}$ of the shear tensor $σ^{i}_{j}$. The value of cosmological constant for the model is found to be small and positive which is supported by the results from recent supernovae Ia observations. The physical and geometric properties of the model are also discussed in presence and absence of magnetic field.
Cylindrically symmetric inhomogeneous string cosmological model of the universe in presence of electromagnetic field is investigated. We have assumed that F_{12} is the only non-vanishing component of electromagnetic field tensor F_{ij}. The Maxwell's equations show that F_{12} is the function of $x$ alone whereas the magnetic permeability is the function of x and t both. To get the deterministic solution, it has been assumed that the expansion ($θ$) in the model is proportional to the eigen value $σ^{1}_{1}$ of the shear tensor $σ^{i}_{j}$. Some physical and geometric prperties of the model a…
We investigate a specific model for dark energy, which lead to the Quasi-Rip cosmology. In the Quasi-Rip model, the equation of the state parameter $w$ is less than -1 in the first stage, but then in the second stage is larger than -1. The conditions for the appearance the Quasi-Rip in the terms of the parameters equation of state are received.
The Einstein-Klein-Gordon field equations are solved in a inhomogeneous shear-free universe containing a material fluid, a self-interacting scalar field, a variable cosmological term, and a heat flux. A quintessence-dominated scenario arises with a power-law accelerated expansion compatible with the currently observed homogeneous universe.
Cylindrically symmetric inhomogeneous cosmological model for bulk viscous fluid distribution with electromagnetic field is obtained. The source of the magnetic field is due to an electric current produced along the z-axis. $F_{12}$ is the non-vanishing component of electromagnetic field tensor. To get the deterministic solution, it has been assumed that the expansion $θ$ in the model is proportional to the shear $σ$. The values of cosmological constant for these models are found to be small and positive at late time, which are consistent with the results from recent supernovae Ia observations.…
Families of anisotropic and inhomogeneous string cosmologies containing non-trivial dilaton and axion fields are derived by applying the global symmetries of the string effective action to a generalized Einstein-Rosen metric. The models exhibit a two-dimensional group of Abelian isometries. In particular, two classes of exact solutions are found that represent inhomogeneous generalizations of the Bianchi type VI_h cosmology. The asymptotic behaviour of the solutions is investigated and further applications are briefly discussed.
The Hubble tension casts a blight on the standard cosmology. As a possible solution to the problem, the local variation of the expansion rate has been proposed where the spatial averaging over a finite domain was introduced in order to restore the local Friedmannian behavior in an inhomogeneous cosmology. So far, however, the approaches are limited to the particular choices of the gauges, and it has been unclear whether the results are gauge-invariant. In this paper, we present the gauge-invariant formulation of the local expansion rate which is driven by the spatial average of the gauge-invar…
We obtain exact solutions for the Einstein equations with an exponential-potential scalar field (\(V=Λe^{kϕ}\)) which represent simple inhomogeneous generalizations of Bianchi I cosmologies. Studying these equations numerically we find that in most of the cases there is a certain period of inflationary behaviour for \(k^2<2\). We as well find that for \(k^2>2\) the solutions homogenize generically at late times. Yet, {\em none of the solutions} isotropize. For some particular values of the integration constants we find a multiple inflationary behaviour for which the deceleration and the inflat…
We investigate specific models for a dark energy universe leading to Quasi-Rip and Pseudo-Rip cosmologies. In the Quasi-Rip model the equation of state parameter w is less than -1 in the first stage, but becomes larger than -1 in the second stage. In the Pseudo-Rip model the Hubble parameter tends to a constant value in the remote future, although w is always less than -1. Conditions for the appearance of the Quasi-Rip and the Pseudo-Rip in terms of the parameters in the equation of state are determined. Analogies with the theory of viscous cosmology are discussed.
Cylindrically symmetric inhomogeneous string cosmological models in presence of electromagnetic field is investigated. We have assumed that $F_{12}$ is the only non-vanishing component of $F_{ij}$. The Maxwell's equations require that $F_{12}$ is the function of $x$ and $t$ both and the magnetic permeability is the function of $x$ and $t$ both. To get the deterministic solution, it has been assumed that the expansion ($θ$) in the model is proportional to the eigen value $σ^{1}_{1}$ of the shear tensor $σ^{i}_{j}$. The derived model represents the inflationary scenario as the proper volume incr…
In this paper, we have searched the existence of the similarity solution for plane symmetric inhomogeneous cosmological models in general relativity. The matter source consists of perfect fluid with proportionality relation between expansion scalar and shear scalar. The isovector fields of Einstein's field equation for the models under consideration are derived. A new class of exact solutions of Einstein's field equation have been obtained for inhomogeneous space-time. The physical behaviors and geometric aspects of the derived models have been discussed in detail.
How does inhomogeneity affect our interpretation of cosmological observations? It has long been wondered to what extent the observable properties of an inhomogeneous universe differ from those of a corresponding Friedman-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) model, and how the inhomogeneities affect that correspondence. Here, we use numerical relativity to study the behavior of light beams traversing an inhomogeneous universe and construct the resulting Hubble diagrams. The universe that emerges exhibits an average FLRW behavior, but inhomogeneous structures contribute to deviations in observables …
Apparent magnitudes are important for high precision cosmology. It is generally accepted that weak gravitational lensing does not affect the relationship between apparent magnitude and redshift. By considering metric perturbations it is shown that objects observed in an inhomogeneous universe have, on average, higher apparent magnitudes than those observed at the same redshift in a homogeneous universe.
The meaning of `tunneling' in a timeless theory such as quantum cosmology is discussed. A recent suggestion of `tunneling' of the macroscopic universe at the classical turning point is analyzed in an anisotropic and inhomogeneous toy model. This `inhomogeneous tunneling' is a local process which cannot be interpreted as a tunneling of the universe.
Here I present a stationary cylindrically symmetric asymptotically Einstein static universe solution with the matter consisting of a cosmological and rotating dust term which admits predicted black hole event horizon.
In this paper we introduce a LTB-Bianchi I (plane symmetric) model of Universe. We study and solve Einstein field equations. We investigate the effects of such model of Universe in particular these results are important in understanding the effect of the combined presence of an inhomogeneous and anisotropic Universe. The observational magnitude-redshift data deviated from UNION 2 catalog has been analyzed in the framework of this LTB-anisotropic Universe and the fit has been achieved without the inclusion of any dark energy.
A new class of cylindrically symmetric inhomogeneous cosmological models for perfect fluid distribution with electromagnetic field is obtained in the context of Lyra's geometry. We have obtained two types of solutions by considering the uniform as well as time dependent displacement field. The source of the magnetic field is due to an electric current produced along the z-axis. Only $F_{12}$ is a non-vanishing component of electromagnetic field tensor. To get the deterministic solution, it has been assumed that the expansion $θ$ in the model is proportional to the shear $σ$. It has been found …
We investigate a class of cylindrically symmetric inhomogeneous $Λ$-dust spacetimes which have a regular axis and some zero expansion component. For $Λ\ne 0$, we obtain new exact solutions to the Einstein equations and show that they are unique, within that class. For $Λ=0$, we recover the Senovilla-Vera metric and show that it can be locally matched to an Einstein-Rosen type of exterior. Finally, we explore some consequences of the matching, such as trapped surface formation and gravitational radiation in the exterior.
The presence and evolution of apparent horizons in a two-parameter family of spherically symmetric, time-dependent solutions of Brans-Dicke gravity are analyzed. These solutions were introduced to model space- and time-varying gravitational couplings and are supposed to represent central objects embedded in a spatially flat universe. We find that the solutions possess multiple evolving apparent horizons, both black hole horizons covering a central singularity and cosmological ones. It is not uncommon for two of these horizons to merge, leaving behind a naked singularity covered only by a cosmo…
Using a long wavelength iteration scheme to solve Einstein's equations near the Big-Bang singularity of a universe driven by a massive scalar field, we find how big initial quasi-isotropic inhomogeneities can be before they can prevent inflation to set in.
Exact results stemming directly from Einstein equations imply that inhomogeneous Universes endowed with vanishing pressure density can only decelerate, unless the energy density of the Universe becomes negative. Recent proposals seem to argue that inhomogeneous (but isotropic) space-times, filled only with incoherent matter, may turn into accelerated Universes for sufficiently late times. To scrutinize these scenarios, fully inhomogeneous Einstein equations are discussed in the synchronous system. In a dust-dominated Universe, the inhomogeneous generalization of the deceleration parameter is al…
It is argued that the solution space of the equation determining the class of $f(R)$ theories which admit an Einstein static universe should be broadened by including the algebraic roots.
