We consider extremal black hole attractors (both BPS and non-BPS) for N=3 and N=5 supergravity in d=4 space-time dimensions. Attractors for matter-coupled N=3 theory are similar to attractors in N=2 supergravity minimally coupled to Abelian vector multiplets. On the other hand, N=5 attractors are similar to attractors in N=4 pure supergravity, and in such theories only 1\N-BPS non-degenerate solutions exist. All the above mentioned theories have a simple interpretation in the first order (fake supergravity) formalism. Furthermore, such theories do not have a d=5 uplift. Finally we comment on the "duality" relations among the attractor solutions of N\geq2 supergravities sharing the same full bosonic sector.
We revisit and complete the study of curved BPS-domain walls in matter-coupled 5D, N=2 supergravity and carefully analyse the relation to gravitational theories known as "fake supergravities". We first show that \emph{curved} BPS-domain walls require the presence of non-trivial hypermultiplet scalars, whereas walls that are solely supported by vector multiplet scalars are necessarily \emph{flat}, due to the constraints from very special geometry. We then recover fake supergravity as the effective description of true supergravity where one restricts the attention to the flowing scalar field of …
Recent results on the relation between hyper-Kahler geometry with torsion and solutions admitting Killing spinors in minimal de sitter supergravity are extended to more general supergravity models with vector multiplets.
The `Wave Geometry' equation of the pre-WWII Hiroshima program is also the key equation of the current `fake supergravity' program. I review the status of (fake) supersymmetric domain walls and (fake) pseudo-supersymmetric cosmologies. An extension of the domain-wall/cosmology correspondence to a triple correspondence with instantons shows that `pseudo-supersymmetry' has another interpretation as Euclidean supersymmetry.
We discuss phantom metrics admitting Killing spinors in fake N=2, D=4 supergravity coupled to vector multiplets. The Abelian U(1) gauge fields in the fake theory have kinetic terms with the wrong sign. We solve the Killing spinor equations for the standard and fake theories in a unified fashion by introducing a parameter which distinguishes between the two theories. The solutions found are fully determined in terms of algebraic conditions, the so-called stabilisation equations, in which the symplectic sections are related to a set of functions. These functions are harmonic in the case of the s…
We study curved and flat BPS-domain walls in 5D, N=4 gauged supergravity and show that their effective dynamics along the flow is described by a generalized form of "fake supergravity". This generalizes previous work in N=2 supergravity and might hint towards a universal behavior of gauged supergravity theories in supersymmetric domain wall backgrounds. We show that BPS-domain walls in 5D, N=4 supergravity can never be curved if they are supported by the supergravity scalar only. Furthermore, a purely Abelian gauge group or a purely semisimple gauge group can never lead to a curved domain wall…
The fake supergravity method is applied to 5-dimensional asymptotically AdS spacetimes containing gravity coupled to a real scalar and an abelian gauge field. The motivation is to obtain bulk solutions with R x S^3 symmetry in order to explore the AdS/CFT correspondence when the boundary gauge theory is on R x S^3. A fake supergravity action, invariant under local supersymmetry through linear order in fermion fields, is obtained. The gauge field makes things more restrictive than in previous applications of fake supergravity which allowed quite general scalar potentials. Here the superpotentia…
We characterise the (fake) supersymmetric solutions of Wick-rotated N=2 d=4 gauged supergravity coupled to non-Abelian vector multiplets. In the time-like case we obtain generalisations of Kastor & Traschen's cosmological black holes: they have a specific time-dependence and the base-space must be 3-dimensional hyperCR/Gauduchon-Tod space. In the null-case, we find that the metric has a holonomy contained in Sim(2), give a general characterisation of the solutions, and give some examples. Finally, we point out that in some cases the solutions we found are non-BPS solutions to N=2 d=4 supergrav…
We use fake supergravity as a solution generating technique to obtain a continuum of non-supersymmetric asymptotically $AdS_4\times S^7$ domain wall solutions of eleven-dimensional supergravity with non-trivial scalars in the $SL(8,\mathbb{R})/SO(8)$ coset. These solutions are continuously connected to the supersymmetric domain walls describing a uniform sector of the Coulomb branch of the $M2$-brane theory. We also provide a general argument that under certain conditions identifies the fake superpotential with the exact large-N quantum effective potential of the dual theory, describing a marg…
Dynamical systems methods are used to investigate domain-wall solutions of a two-parameter family of models in which gravity is coupled to an axion, and to a dilaton with an exponential potential of either sign. A complete global analysis is presented for (i) constant axion and (ii) flat walls, including a study of bifurcations and a new exact domain-wall solution with non-constant axion. We reconsider `fake supergravity' issues in light of these results. We show, by example, how domain walls determine multi-valued superpotentials that branch at stationary points that are not stationary points…
We review the generalized Witten-Nester spinor stability argument for flat domain wall solutions of gravitational theories. Neither the field theory nor the solution need be supersymmetric. Nor is the space-time dimension restricted. We develop the non-trivial extension required for AdS-sliced domain walls and apply this to show that the recently proposed "Janus" solution of Type IIB supergravity is stable non-perturbatively for a broad class of deformations. Generalizations of this solution to arbitrary dimension and a simple curious linear dilaton solution of Type IIB supergravity are byprod…
We consider near horizon geometries of extremal black holes in six-dimensional type IIB supergravity. In particular, we use the entropy function formalism to compute the charges and thermodynamic entropy of these solutions. We also comment on the role of attractor mechanism in understanding the entropy of the Hopf T-dual solutions in type IIA supergravity.
In this paper we study generalized attractors in N=2 gauged supergravity theory in five dimensions coupled to arbitrary number of hyper, vector and tensor multiplets. We look for attractor solutions with constant anholonomy coefficients. By analyzing the equations of motion we derive the attractor potential. We further show that the generalized attractor potential can be obtained from the fermionic shifts. We study some simple examples and show that constant anholonomy gives rise to homogeneous black branes in five dimensions.
Motivated by the new higher D-supergravity solutions on intersecting attractors obtained by Ferrara et al. in [Phys.Rev.D79:065031-2009], we focus in this paper on 8D maximal supergravity with moduli space [SL(3,R)/SO(3)]x[SL(2,R)/SO(2)] and study explicitly the attractor mechanism for various configurations of extremal black p- branes (anti-branes) with the typical near horizon geometries AdS_{p+2}xS^{m}xT^{6-p-m} and p=0,1,2,3,4; 2<=m<=6. Interpretations in terms of wrapped M2 and M5 branes of the 11D M-theory on 3-torus are also given. Keywords: 8D supergravity, black p-branes, attractor me…
We study the attractor mechanism for N=1 supergravity coupled to vector and chiral multiplets and compute the attractor equations of these theories. These equations may have solutions depending on the choice of the holomorphic symmetric matrix f_{ΛΣ} which appears in the kinetic lagrangian of the vector sector. Models with non trivial electric-magnetic duality group which have or have not attractor behavior are exhibited. For a particular class of models, based on an N=1 reduction of homogeneous special geometries, the attractor equations are related to the theory of pure spinors.
In this paper we analyse non-supersymmetric single centred extremal black hole solutions in N=2 supergravity theory coupled to $n$ vector multiplets with purely cubic pre-potential in four dimensions. We consider the algebraic attractor equations in their most general form at the black hole horizon. We explicitly construct a new class of solutions for these attractor equations. These solutions are characterised by a set of involutory matrices. These involutions are obtained from a constraint involving the parameters in the pre-potential and generate new attractor points in the moduli space.
A step is made towards generalizing the method of holographic renormalization to backgrounds which are not asymptotically AdS, corresponding to a dual gauge theory which has logarithmically running couplings even in the ultraviolet. A prime example is the background of Klebanov-Strassler (KS). In particular, a recipe is given how to calculate renormalized two-point functions for the operators dual to the bulk scalars. The recipe makes use of gauge-invariant variables for the fluctuations around the background and works for any bulk theory of the fake supergravity type. It elegantly incorporate…
Bianchi attractors are homogeneous but anisotropic extremal black brane horizons. We study the $AdS_3 \times \mathbb{H}^2$ solution which is a special case of Bianchi type III in a $U(1)_R$ gauged supergravity. For a wide range of values for certain free parameters in gauged supergravity, there exist a large class of solutions that satisfy conditions for the attractor mechanism to hold. We investigate the response of the solution against linearized fluctuations of the scalar field. The sufficient conditions for the attractor mechanism ensure that there exist a solution for the scalar fluctuati…
We study intersecting extremal black attractors in non chiral 8D N=1 supergravity with moduli space ((SO(2,N))/(SO(2)\times SO(N)))\times SO(1,1) and work out explicitly the attractor mechanism for various black p-brane configurations with the typical near horizon geometries AdS_{p+2} \times S^{m} \times T^{6-p-m}. We also give the classification of the solutions of the attractor equations in terms of the SO(N-k) subgroups of SO(2)\times SO(N) symmetry of the moduli space as well as their interpretations in terms of both heterotic string on 2-torus and its type IIA dual. Other features such as…
In this paper we investigate the attractor mechanism in the five dimensional low energy supergravity theory corresponding to M-theory compactified on a Calabi-Yau threefold $CY_3$. Using very special geometry, we derive the general first-order attractor flow equations for BPS and non-BPS solutions in five-dimensional Gibbons-Hawking spaces. Especially, considering the supersymmetric solution, we obtain the first-order flow equations for supersymmetric (multi)black rings. We also solve the flow equations and discuss some properties of the solutions of flow equations.
The attractor mechanism governs the near-horizon geometry of extremal black holes in ungauged 4D N=2 supergravity theories and in Calabi-Yau compactifications of string theory. In this paper, we study a natural generalization of this mechanism to solutions of arbitrary 4D N=2 gauged supergravities. We define generalized attractor points as solutions of an ansatz which reduces the Einstein, gauge field, and scalar equations of motion to algebraic equations. The simplest generalized attractor geometries are characterized by non-vanishing constant anholonomy coefficients in an orthonormal frame. …
We present $α$-attractor models for inflation based on ${\cal N}=1$ supergravity with flat Kähler manifolds. The function form of the associated Kähler potential in these models are logarithmic square in nature and has a visible shift symmetry in its composite canonical variables. The scalar potential $V$ with respect to these field variables has an infinitely long dS valley of constant depth and width at large values of inflaton field $ψ$ and attains a Minkowski minimum at small $ψ$. We illustrate this new framework with a couple of examples.
We investigate the existence of supersymmetric static dyonic black holes with spherical horizon in the context of N= 2 U(1) gauged supergravity in four dimensions. We analyze the conditions for their existence and provide the general first-order flow equations driving the scalar fields and the metric warp factors from the asymptotic AdS4 geometry to the horizon. We work in a general duality-symmetric setup, which allows to describe both electric and magnetic gaugings. We also discuss the attractor mechanism and the issue of moduli (de-)stabilization.
We discuss some of the basic features of extremal black holes in four-dimensional extended supergravities. Firstly, all regular solutions display an attractor behavior for the scalar field evolution towards the black hole horizon. Secondly, they can be obtained by solving first order flow equations even when they are not supersymmetric, provided one identifies a suitable superpotential W which also gives the black hole entropy at the horizon and its ADM mass at spatial infinity. We focus on N=8 supergravity and we review the basic role played by U-duality of the underlying supergravity in dete…
In this paper, we analyse the stability of extremal black brane horizons with homogeneous symmetry in the spatial directions in five dimensional gauged supergravity, under the fluctuations of the scalar fields about their attractor values. We examine the scalar fluctuation equations at the linearised level and demand that the fluctuations vanish as one approaches the horizon. Imposing certain restrictions on the Killing vectors used for gauging we find that the necessary conditions for stability are satisfied only by a subclass of the Bianchi metrics whose symmetry group factorises into a two …
We connect the attractor equations of a certain class of N=2, d=5 supergravities with their (1,0), d=6 counterparts, by relating the moduli space of non-BPS d=5 black hole/black string attractors to the moduli space of extremal dyonic black string d=6 non-BPS attractors. For d = 5 real special symmetric spaces and for N = 4,6,8 theories, we explicitly compute the flat directions of the black object potential corresponding to vanishing eigenvalues of its Hessian matrix. In the case N = 4, we study the relation to the (2,0), d=6 theory. We finally describe the embedding of the N=2, d=5 magic mod…
We analyze BPS black hole attractors in 4d gauged supergravity in the presence of higher derivative supersymmetric terms, including a Weyl-squared-type action, and determine the resulting corrections to the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy. The near-horizon geometry AdS$_2 \times$S$^2$ (or other Riemann surface) preserves half of the supercharges in $N=2$ supergravity with Fayet-Iliopoulos gauging. We derive a relation between the entropy and the black hole charges that suggests via AdS/CFT how subleading corrections contribute to the supersymmetric index in the dual microscopic picture. Depending o…
We review some aspects of the attractor mechanism for extremal black holes of (not necessarily supersymmetric) theories coupling Einstein gravity to scalars and Maxwell vector fields. Thence, we consider N=2 and N=8, d=4 supergravities, reporting some recent advances on the moduli spaces associated to BPS and non-BPS attractor solutions supported by charge orbits with non-compact stabilizers.
We generalize the description of the d=4 Attractor Mechanism based on an effective black hole (BH) potential to the presence of a gauging which does not modify the derivatives of the scalars and does not involve hypermultiplets. The obtained results do not rely necessarily on supersymmetry, and they can be extended to d>4, as well. Thence, we work out the example of the stu model of N=2 supergravity in the presence of Fayet-Iliopoulos terms, for the supergravity analogues of the magnetic and D0-D6 BH charge configurations, and in three different symplectic frames: the SO(1,1)^{2}, SO(2,2) cova…
We compute the macroscopic entropy of the supersymmetric rotating dyonic strings carrying linear momentum in 6D (1,0) supergravity with curvature squared corrections. Our calculation is based on Sen's entropy function formalism applied to the near-horizon geometry of the string solution taking the form of an extremal BTZ$\times S^3$. The final entropy formula states that the two independent supersymmetric completions of Riemann tensor squared contribute equally to the entropy. A further $S^3$ compactification of the 6D theory results in a matter coupled 3D supergravity model in which the quant…
BPS and non-BPS orbits for extremal black-holes in N=2 Maxwell-Einstein supergravity theories (MESGT) in five dimensions were classified long ago by the present authors for the case of symmetric scalar manifolds. Motivated by these results and some recent work on non-supersymmetric attractors we show that attractor equations in N=2 MESGTs in d=5 do indeed possess the distinct families of solutions with finite Bekenstein-Hawking entropy. The new non-BPS solutions have non-vanishing central charge and matter charge which is invariant under the maximal compact subgroup of the stabilizer of the no…
We review the underlying algebraic structures of supergravity theories with symmetric scalar manifolds in five and four dimensions, orbits of their extremal black hole solutions and the spectrum generating extensions of their U-duality groups. For 5D, N=2 Maxwell-Einstein supergravity theories (MESGT) defined by Euclidean Jordan algebras, J, the spectrum generating symmetry groups are the conformal groups Conf(J) of J which are isomorphic to their U-duality groups in four dimensions. Similarly, the spectrum generating symmetry groups of 4D, N=2 MESGTs are the quasiconformal groups QConf(J) ass…
Bianchi attractors are near horizon geometries with homogeneous symmetries in the spatial directions. We construct supersymmetric Bianchi attractors in $\mathcal{N}=2, d=4,5$ gauged supergravity. In $d=4$ we consider gauged supergravity coupled to vector and hypermultiplets. In $d=5$ we consider gauged supergravity coupled to vector multiplets with a generic gauging of symmetries of the scalar manifold and the $U(1)_R$ gauging of the $R$-symmetry. Analyzing the gaugino conditions we show that when the fermionic shifts do not vanish there are no supersymmetric Bianchi attractors. This is analog…
We classify the stability region, marginal stability walls (MS) and split attractor flows for two-center extremal black holes in four-dimensional N=2 supergravity minimally coupled to n vector multiplets. It is found that two-center (continuous) charge orbits, classified by four duality invariants, either support a stability region ending on a MS wall or on an anti-marginal stability (AMS) wall, but not both. Therefore, the scalar manifold never contains both walls. Moreover, the BPS mass of the black hole composite (in its stability region) never vanishes in the scalar manifold. For these rea…
Using the recipe of arXiv:0902.4814, where all fake supersymmetric backgrounds of matter-coupled fake N=2, d=4 gauged supergravity were classified, we construct dynamical rotating black holes in an expanding FLRW universe. This is done for two different prepotentials that are both truncations of the stu model and correspond to just one vector multiplet. In this scenario, the cosmic expansion is driven by two U(1) gauge fields and by a complex scalar that rolls down its potential. Generically, the solutions of arXiv:0902.4814 are fibrations over a Gauduchon-Tod base space, and we make three dif…
We examine few simple extremal black hole configurations of N=8, d=4 supergravity. We first elucidate the relation between the BPS Reissner-Nordstrom black hole and the non-BPS Kaluza-Klein dyonic black hole. Their classical entropy, given by the Bekenstein-Hawking formula, can be reproduced via the attractor mechanism by suitable choices of symplectic frame. Then, we display the embedding of the axion-dilaton black hole into N=8 supergravity.
In arXiv:0902.4814, a general recipe to construct fake supersymmetric solutions to fake N=2, d=4 gauged supergravity coupled to abelian vector multiplets was presented. We use these results to find new multi-centered black hole solutions in an asymptotically FLRW universe. These satisfy the weak energy condition and are maximally charged under two U(1) gauge fields coupled to a scalar, which drives the cosmic expansion while rolling down its potential. As a special subcase, our black holes include the ones constructed previously by Gibbons and Maeda in arXiv:0912.2809. The latter contain two n…
We study cosmological $α$-attractors in superconformal/supergravity models, where $α$ is related to the geometry of the moduli space. For $α=1$ attractors \cite{Kallosh:2013hoa} we present a generalization of the previously known manifestly superconformal higher curvature supergravity model \cite{Cecotti:1987sa}. The relevant standard 2-derivative supergravity with a minimum of two chiral multiplets is shown to be dual to a 4-derivative higher curvature supergravity, where in general one of the chiral superfields is traded for a curvature superfield. There is a degenerate case when both matter…
We establish an attractor mechanism for the horizon metric of asymptotically locally AdS4 supersymmetric black holes. The Kähler moduli of the metric are not fixed in the asymptotic region, however supersymmetry dictates that the near horizon metric must be the constant curvature one. We show how this mechanism is realized in detail for four-dimensional N=2 gauged supergravity coupled to vector multiplets by focusing on the STU model. A similar analysis is performed for gauged supergravity theories in five, six, and seven dimensions where we establish the same mechanism by extending previous r…
Dimensional reduction along time offers a powerful way to study stationary solutions of 4D symmetric supergravity models via group-theoretical methods. We apply this approach systematically to extremal, BPS and non-BPS, spherically symmetric black holes, and obtain their "fake superpotential" W. The latter provides first order equations for the radial problem, governs the mass and entropy formula and gives the semi-classical approximation to the radial wave function. To achieve this goal, we note that the Noether charge for the radial evolution must lie in a certain Lagrangian submanifold of a…
We study the BPS and non BPS black attractors in 7D N=2 supergravity embedded in 11D M-theory compactified on K3. Combining Kahler and complex moduli in terms of SO(3) representations, we build the Dalbeault like (DL) basis for the second cohomology of K3 and set up the fundamental relations of the special "hyperKahler" geometry of the underlying moduli space of the 7D theory. We study the attractor eqs of the 7D black branes by using the method of the criticality of the effective potential and also by using the extension of the so called 4D new attractor approach to 7D N=2 supergravity. A com…
Following the same treatment of Bellucci et.al., we obtain the hitherto unknown general solutions of the radial attractor flow equations for extremal black holes, both for non-BPS with non-vanishing and vanishing central charge Z for the so-called st^2 model, the minimal rank-2 N=2 symmetric supergravity in d=4 space-time dimensions. We also make useful comparisons with results that already exist in literature, and introduce the fake supergravity (first-order) formalism to be used in our analysis. An analysis of the BPS bound all along the non-BPS attractor flows and of the marginal stability o…
We report on recent results in the study of extremal black hole attractors in N=2, d=4 ungauged Maxwell-Einstein supergravities. For homogeneous symmetric scalar manifolds, the three general classes of attractor solutions with non-vanishing Bekenstein-Hawking entropy are discussed. They correspond to three (inequivalent) classes of orbits of the charge vector, which sits in the relevant symplectic representation R_{V} of the U-duality group. Other than the 1/2-BPS one, there are two other distinct non-BPS classes of charge orbits, one of which has vanishing central charge. The complete classif…
We discuss the Attractor Equations of N=2, $d=4$ supergravity in an extremal black hole background with arbitrary electric and magnetic fluxes (charges) for field-strength two-forms. The effective one-dimensional Lagrangian in the radial (evolution) variable exhibits features of a spontaneously broken supergravity theory. Indeed, non-BPS Attractor solutions correspond to the vanishing determinant of a (fermionic) gaugino mass matrix. The stability of these solutions is controlled by the data of the underlying Special Kähler Geometry of the vector multiplets' moduli space. Finally, after analyz…
We find a family of AdS$_2\times \mathcal{M}_4$ supersymmetric solutions of the six-dimensional $\mathrm{F}(4)$ gauged supergravity coupled to one vector multiplet that arises as a low energy description of massive type IIA supergravity on (warped) AdS$_6\times S^4$. $\mathcal{M}_4$ is either a Kähler-Einstein manifold or a product of two Riemann surfaces with a constant curvature metric. These solutions correspond to the near-horizon region of a family of static magnetically charged black holes. In the case where $\mathcal{M}_4$ is a product of Riemann surfaces, we successfully compare their …
In this paper, we apply reconstruction techniques to recover the potential parameters for a particular class of single-field models, the $α$-attractor (supergravity) models of inflation. This also allows to derive the inflaton vacuum expectation value at horizon crossing. We show how to use this value as one of the input variables to constrain the postaccelerated inflationary phase. We assume that the tensor-to-scalar ratio $r$ is of the order of $10^{-3}$ , a level reachable by the expected sensitivity of the next-generation CMB experiments.
Cosmological alpha-attractor models in \cN=1 supergravity are based on hyperbolic geometry of a Poincaré disk with the radius square {\cal R}^2=3α. The predictions for the B-modes, r\approx 3α{4\over N^2}, depend on moduli space geometry and are robust for a rather general class of potentials. Here we notice that starting with M-theory compactified on a 7-manifold with G_2 holonomy, with a special choice of Betti numbers, one can obtain d=4 \cN=1 supergravity with rank 7 scalar coset \Big[{SL(2)\over SO(2)}\Big]^7. In a model where these 7 unit size Poincaré disks have identified moduli one fi…
We extend previous investigations on the construction of extremal supersymmetric and non-supersymmetric solutions in the H-FGK formalism to "unconventional" solutions with anharmonic terms. We show how the use of "fake" charge vectors equivariant under duality transformations simplifies and clarifies the task of identification of the attractors of the theory.
In string-inspired supergravity theory, Kähler metric of chiral matter fields often has a pole. Such Kähler metric is interesting from the viewpoint of the framework of the pole inflation, where the scalar potential can be stretched out to be flat around the pole for a canonically normalized field and inflation can be realized. However, when Kähler metric has a pole, the scalar potential can also have a pole at the same point in supergravity theory. We study such supergravity models with the pole, and provide numerical analysis of inflationary dynamics and resultant density perturbation. In co…
In this paper we discuss the uniqueness of supersymmetric attractors in four dimensional N=2 supergravity theories coupled to n vector multiplets. We prove that for a given charge configuration the supersymmetry preserving axion free attractors are unique. We generalise the analysis to axionic attractors and state the conditions for uniqueness explicitly. We consider the example of a two-parameter model and find all solutions to the supersymmetric attractor equations and discuss their uniqueness.
We consider the flow equations for $1/4$-BPS asymptotically AdS$_4$ static black holes in Fayet-Iliopoulos gauged supergravity, using very special geometry identities to obtain a simplified form in the most general case. Under mild assumptions on the form of the solution, we analyse the flow equations and find an explicit solution for arbitrary gauging and charge vectors within the chosen ansatz. Comparing with the corresponding attractor equations, we find that the solution is given in terms of exactly the same vector of parameters, implying that all regular attractors can be extended to full…
The Planck value of the spectral index can be interpreted as $n_s = 1 - 2/N$ in terms of the number of e-foldings $N$. An appealing explanation for this phenomenological observation is provided by $α$-attractors: the inflationary predictions of these supergravity models are fully determined by the curvature of the Kahler manifold. We provide a novel formulation of $α$-attractors which only involves a single chiral superfield. Our construction involves a natural deformation of no-scale models, and employs these to construct a De Sitter plateau with an exponential fall-off. Finally, we show how …
We present the main features of the physics of extremal black holes embedded in supersymmetric theories of gravitation, with a detailed analysis of the attractor mechanism for BPS and non-BPS black-hole solutions in four dimensions.
We review recent results in the study of attractor horizon geometries (with non-vanishing Bekenstein-Hawking entropy) of dyonic extremal d=4 black holes in supergravity. We focus on N=2, d=4 ungauged supergravity coupled to a number n_{V} of Abelian vector multiplets, outlining the fundamentals of the special Kaehler geometry of the vector multiplets' scalar manifold (of complex dimension n_{V}), and studying the 1/2-BPS attractors, as well as the non-BPS (non-supersymmetric) ones with non-vanishing central charge. For symmetric special Kaehler geometries, we present the complete classificatio…
We compute in detail how deviations from Einstein gravity at the inflation energy scale could appear as non-Gaussian features in the sky. To illustrate this we use multi-field $α-$attractor models in the framework of supergravity to realise inflation. We find no obvious obstacle for having choices of model's parameters that generate non-Gaussian features of the equilateral and local type at the $\cal O$(1) level in the $f_{\rm NL}$ non-Gaussianity parameter, thus being potentially detectable in future cosmological surveys. This non-Gaussianity has its origin in either the non-canonical kinetic…
We compute the modifications to the attractor mechanism due to fermionic corrections. In N=2, D=4 supergravity, at the fourth order, we find a new contribution to the horizon values of the scalar fields of the vector multiplets.
We consider four-dimensional $N=2$ supergravity coupled to vector- and hypermultiplets, where abelian isometries of the quaternionic Kähler hypermultiplet scalar manifold are gauged. Using the recipe given by Meessen and Ort\'ın in arXiv:1204.0493, we analytically construct a supersymmetric black hole solution for the case of just one vector multiplet with prepotential ${\cal F}=-iχ^0χ^1$, and the universal hypermultiplet. This solution has a running dilaton, and it interpolates between $\text{AdS}_2\times\text{H}^2$ at the horizon and a hyperscaling-violating type geometry at infinity, confor…
