A para-Kähler manifold can be defined as a pseudo-Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$ with a parallel skew-symmetric para-complex structures $K$, i.e. a parallel field of skew-symmetric endomorphisms with $ K^2 = \mathrm{Id} $ or, equivalently, as a symplectic manifold $(M,ω)$ with a bi-Lagrangian structure $L^\pm$, i.e. two complementary integrable Lagrangian distributions.
A homogeneous manifold $M = G/H$ of a semisimple Lie group $G$ admits an invariant para-Kähler structure $(g,K)$ if and only if it is a covering of the adjoint orbit $\mathrm{Ad}_Gh$ of a semisimple element $h.$ We give a description of all invariant para-Kähler structures $(g,K)$ on a such homogeneous manifold. Using a para-complex analogue of basic formulas of Kähler geometry, we prove that any invariant para-complex structure $K$ on $M = G/H$ defines a unique para-Kähler Einstein structure $(g,K)$ with given non-zero scalar curvature. An explicit formula for the Einstein metric $g$ is given.
A survey of recent results on para-complex geometry is included.
The object of the present paper is to study some properties of para-K$ä$hler manifold whose metric is conformal Einstein soliton. We have studied some certain curvature properties of para-K$ä$hler manifold admitting conformal Einstein soliton.
We develop a parabolic pluripotential theory on compact K{ä}hler manifolds, defining and studying weak solutions to degenerate parabolic complex Monge-Amp{è}re equations. We provide a parabolic analogue of the celebrated Bedford-Taylor theory and apply it to the study of the K{ä}hler-Ricci flow on varieties with log terminal singularities.
We establish a stability result for elliptic and parabolic complex Monge-Amp{è}re equations on compact K{ä}hler manifolds, which applies in particular to the K{ä}hler-Ricci flow. Dedicated to Jean-Pierre Demailly on the occasion of his 60th birthday.
Let Z be the real part of a K{ä}hler Hamiltonian manifold M. The O'Shea-Sjamaar's Theorem tells us that the moment polytope Delta(Z) corresponds to the anti-invariant part of the Kirwan polytope Delta(M). The purpose of the present paper is to explain how to parameterize the equations of the facets of Delta(Z) in terms of real Ressayre's pairs of Z.
We study nearly-Kahler 6-manifolds equipped with a cohomogeneity-two Lie group action for which the principal orbits are coisotropic. If the metric is complete, then we show that this last condition is automatically satisfied, and both the acting Lie group and the principal orbits are finite quotients of $S^3 \times S^1$. We partition the class of such nearly-Ka}hler structures into three types (called I, II, III) and prove a local existence and generality result for each type. Metrics of Types I and II are shown to be incomplete. We also derive a quasilinear elliptic PDE system on the 2-dimen…
An almost para-CR structure on a manifold $M$ is given by a distribution $HM \subset TM$ together with a field $K \in Γ({\rm End}(HM))$ of involutive endomorphisms of $HM$. If $K$ satisfies an integrability condition, then $(HM,K)$ is called a para-CR structure. The notion of maximally homogeneous para-CR structure of a semisimple type is given. A classification of such maximally homogeneous para-CR structures is given in terms of appropriate gradations of real semisimple Lie algebras.
We study the class of non-degenerate homogeneous structures of linear type in the pseudo-Kähler, para-Kähler, pseudo-quaternion Kähler and para-quaternion Kähler cases. We show that these structures characterize spaces of constant holomorphic, para-holomorphic, quaternion and para-quaternion sectional curvature respectively. In addition the corresponding homogeneous models are computed, exhibiting the relation between these kind of structures and the incompleteness of the metric.
We analyze degenerate homogeneous structures of linear type in the pseudo-Kähler and para-Kähler cases. The local form and the holonomy of pseudo-Kähler or para-Kähler manifolds admitting such structure are obtained. In addition the associated homogeneous models are studied exhibiting their relation with the incompleteness of the metric. The same questions are tackled in the pseudo-quaternion Kähler and para-quaternion Kähler cases. These results complete the study of homogeneous structures of linear type in pseudo-Kähler, para-Kähler, pseudo-quaternion Kähler and para-quaternion Kähler cases.
Motivated by the Hamilton's Ricci flow, we define the homogeneous flow of a parallelizable manifold and show the long time existence and uniqueness of its solutions on $[0,\infty).$ Using this flow, we outline a simple proof of the Poincare Conjecture.
Let $M$ be a differentiable manifold and $K$ a Lie group. A locally homogeneous triple with structure group $K$ on $M$ is a triple $(g, P\stackrel{p}{\to} M,A)$, where $p:P\to M$ is a principal $K$-bundle on $M$, $g$ is Riemannian metric on $M$, and $A$ is connection on $P$ such that the following locally homogeneity condition is satisfied: for every two points $x$, $x'\in M$ there exists an isometry $φ:U\to U'$ between open neighborhoods $U\ni x$, $U'\ni x'$ with $φ(x)=x'$, and a $φ$-covering bundle isomorphism $Φ:P_U\to P_{U'}$ such that $Φ^*(A_{U'})=A_U$. If $(g,P\stackrel{p}{\to} M,A)$ is …
We give a full classification of higher order parallel surfaces in three-dimensional homogeneous spaces with four-dimensional isometry group, i.e. in the so-called Bianchi-Cartan-Vranceanu family. This gives a positive answer to a conjecture formulated in 2002. As a partial result, we prove that totally umbilical surfaces only exist if the space is a Riemannian product of a surface of constant Gaussian curvature and the real line, and we give a local parametrization of all totally umbilical surfaces.
The 2-parameter family of certain homogeneous Lorentzian 3-manifolds which includes Minkowski 3-space, de Sitter 3-space, and Minkowski motion group is considered. Each homogeneous Lorentzian 3-manifold in the 2-parameter family has a solvable Lie group structure with left invariant metric. A generalized integral representation formula which is the unificaton of representation formulas for minimal timelike surfaces in those homogeneous Lorentzian 3-manifolds is obtained. The normal Gauß map of minimal timelike surfaces in those homogeneous Lorentzian 3-manifolds and its harmonicity are discuss…
The 2-parameter family of certain homogeneous Lorentzian 3-manifolds which includes Minkowski 3-space and anti-de Sitter 3-space is considered. Each homogeneous Lorentzian 3-manifold in the 2-parameter family has a solvable Lie group structure with left invariant metric. A generalized integral representation formula which is the unification of representation formulas for maximal spacelike surfaces in those homogeneous Lorentzian 3-manifolds is obtained. The normal Gauß map of maximal spacelike surfaces in those homogeneous Lorentzian 3-manifolds and its harmonicity are discussed.
We survey different classification results for surfaces with parallel mean curvature immersed into some Riemannian homogeneous four-manifolds, including real and complex space forms, and product spaces. We provide a common framework for this problem, with special attention to the existence of holomorphic quadratic differentials on such surfaces. The case of spheres with parallel mean curvature is also explained in detail, as well as the state-of-the-art advances in the general problem.
A nearly parallel $G_{2}$-manifold $Y$ is a Riemannian 7-manifold whose cone $C(Y) = \mathbb{R}_{>0} \times Y$ has the holonomy group contained in ${\rm Spin(7)}$. In other words, it is a spin 7-manifold with a real Killing spinor. We have a special class of calibrated submanifolds called Cayley submanifolds in $C(Y)$. An associative submanifold in $Y$ is a minimal 3-submanifold whose cone is Cayley. We study its deformations, namely, Cayley cone deformations, explicitly when it is homogeneous in the 7-sphere $S^{7}$.
We study in this paper previously defined by V.N. Berestovskii and C.P. Plaut $δ$-homogeneous spaces in the case of Riemannian manifolds. Every such manifold has non-negative sectional curvature. The universal covering of any $δ$-homogeneous Riemannian manifolds is itself $δ$-homogeneous. In turn, every simply connected Riemannian $δ$-homogeneous manifold is a direct metric product of an Euclidean space and compact simply connected indecomposable homogeneous manifolds; all factors in this product are itself $δ$-homogeneous. We find different characterizations of $δ$-homogeneous Riemannian spac…
We solve explicitly the geodesic equation for a wide class of (pseudo)-Riemannian homogeneous manifolds (G/H,m), including those with G compact, as well as non-compact semisimple Lie groups, under a simple algebraic condition for the metric m. We prove that these manifolds are geodesically complete and their geodesics are orbits in G/H of a product of N one-parameter subgroups of G, where N is a natural number. This is intimately related to the fact that the metrics m can be regarded as N-parameter deformations of a Riemannian metric in G/H with special symmetries. We show that there exists a …
We describe invariant principal and Cartan connections on homogeneous principal bundles and show how to calculate the curvature and the holonomy; in the case of an invariant Cartan connection we give a formula for the infinitesimal automorphisms. The main result of this paper is that the above calculations are purely algorithmic. As an example of an homogeneous parabolic geometry we treat a conformal structure on the product of two spheres.
We prove that the only complex parabolic geometries on Calabi-Yau manifolds are the homogeneous geometries on complex tori. We also classify the complex parabolic geometries on homogeneous compact Kähler manifolds.
We classify all seven-dimensional spaces which admit a homogeneous cosymplectic G2-structure. The motivation for this classification is that each of these spaces is a possible principal orbit of a parallel Spin(7)-manifold of cohomogeneity one.
Streets and Tian introduced a parabolic flow of pluriclosed metrics. We classify the long time behavior of homogeneous solutions of this flow on closed complex surfaces including minimal Hopf, Inoue, Kodaira, and non-Kahler, properly elliptic surfaces. We also construct expanding soliton solutions to the flow on the universal covers of these surfaces by taking blowdown limits of these homogeneous solutions.
We study in this paper three natural notions of convergence of homogeneous manifolds, namely infinitesimal, local and pointed, and their relationship with a fourth one, which only takes into account the underlying algebraic structure of the homogeneous manifold and is indeed much more tractable. Along the way, we introduce a subset of the variety of Lie algebras which parameterizes the space of all n-dimensional simply connected homogeneous spaces with q-dimensional isotropy, providing a framework which is very advantageous to approach variational problems for curvature functionals as well as …
In this work we determine bifurcation instants for 1-parameter families of solutions to the Yamabe problem defined on maximal flag manifolds. We also study the local rigidity points, namely, a isolated solution of the Yamabe problem.
Ambrose and Singer characterized connected, simply-connected and complete homogeneous Riemannian manifolds as Riemannian manifolds admitting a metric connection such that its curvature and torsion are parallel. The aim of this paper is to extend Ambrose-Singer Theorem to the general framework of locally homogeneous pseudo-Riemannian manifolds. In addition we study under which conditions a locally homogeneous pseudo-Riemannian manifold can be recovered from the curvature and their covariant derivatives at some point up to finite order. The same problem is tackled in the presence of a geometric …
We present in this paper a general approach to study the Ricci flow on homogeneous manifolds. Our main tool is a dynamical system defined on a subset H(q,n) of the variety of (q+n)-dimensional Lie algebras, parameterizing the space of all simply connected homogeneous spaces of dimension n with a q-dimensional isotropy, which is proved to be equivalent in a precise sense to the Ricci flow. The approach is useful to better visualize the possible (nonflat) pointed limits of Ricci flow solutions, under diverse rescalings, as well as to determine the type of the possible singularities. Ancient solu…
We study the Euler-Lagrange equations for a parameter dependent $G$-invariant Lagrangian on a homogeneous $G$-space. We consider the pullback of the parameter dependent Lagrangian to the Lie group $G$, emphasizing the special invariance properties of the associated Euler-Poincaré equations with advected parameters.
We consider three fundamental classes of compact almost homogeneous manifolds and show that the complements of singular complex orbits in such manifolds are endowed with plurisubharmonic exhaustions satisfying complex homogeneous Monge-Ampère equations. This extends to a new family of mixed type examples various classical results on parabolic spaces and complexifications of symmetric spaces. Rigidity results on complex spaces modeled on such new examples are given.
We present a new method for classifying naturally reductive homogeneous spaces -- i.\,e.~homogeneous Riemannian manifolds admitting a metric connection with skew torsion that has parallel torsion \emph{and} curvature. This method is based on a deeper understanding of the holonomy algebra of connections with parallel skew torsion on Riemannian manifolds and the interplay of such a connection with the geometric structure on the given Riemannian manifold. It allows to reproduce by easier arguments the known classifications in dimensions $3,4$, and $5$, and yields as a new result the classificatio…
In this paper, we consider the Rumin complex on homogenenous nilpotent Lie groups. We present an alternative construction to the classical one on Carnot groups using ideas from parabolic geometry. We also give the explicit computations for the Engel group with this approach.
