Einstein's general theory of relativity is the standard theory of gravity, especially where the needs of astronomy, astrophysics, cosmology and fundamental physics are concerned. As such, this theory is used for many practical purposes involving spacecraft navigation, geodesy, and time transfer. Here I review the foundations of general relativity, discuss recent progress in the tests of relativistic gravity in the solar system, and present motivations for the new generation of high-accuracy gravitational experiments. I discuss the advances in our understanding of fundamental physics that are anticipated in the near future and evaluate the discovery potential of the recently proposed gravitational experiments.
A consistent variational derivation of the Majorana 4-spinor field equations coupled to Einstein's theory of gravitation is given. The equivalence of the first and the second order variational field equations is explicitly demonstrated. The Lagrange multiplier 2-forms we use turn out to be precisely the Belinfante-Rosenfeld 2-forms that are needed to symmetrize the canonical energy-momentum tensor of the Majorana spinor.
We present a basics of the Einstein General Theory of Relativity. In the first part of this review we derive relations of Riemann geometry which are used in the General Relativity. In the second part we discuss Einstein Equations and some of its consequences (The Schwarzschild solution, gravitational waves, Friedman Equations etc). In the Appendix we briefly discuss a history of the discovery of the Einstein Equations.
Einstein's relativity theory demands that all meaningful physical objects should be defined covariantly, i.e. in a coordinate independent way. Concepts of relative velocity, acceleration, gravity acceleration and gravity potential are fundamental in Newton's theory and they are imprinted in everyone's physical intuition. Unfortunately, relativistic definitions of them are not commonly known or appreciated. Every now and then some confused authors use wrong, non-covariant, definitions of velocity, acceleration and gravity, based on their vague Newtonian intuitions and hidden in a superficial, o…

In the paper we show that the general relativity action (and Lagrangian) in recent Einstein-Palatini formulation is equivalent to the action (and Langrangian) of a gauge field. We begin with a bit of information of the Einstein-Palatini (EP) action, then we present how Einstein fields equations can be derived from it. In the next section, we consider Einstein-Palatini action integral for general relativity with a positive cosmological constant $Λ$ in terms of $\hat{F}$, the curvature of the affine connection's pulled back from de Sitter bundle to Lorentz bundle. We will see that in terms of $\…
Several traversable wormholes (T-WHs) of the Morris-Thorne type have been presented as exact solutions of Einstein-nonlinear electrodynamics gravity (GR-NLED), e.g. \cite{Arellano2009, Bronnikov2018,Bronnikov_Walia2021, Canate_Breton2018, Canate_Breton_Ortiz2020, Canate_Magos_Breton2020}. However, none of these solutions is support by a nonlinear electrodynamics model satisfying plausible conditions. In this work, we present the first traversable wormhole solution of Einstein-nonlinear electrodynamics gravity coupled to a self-interacting phantom scalar field (GR-NLED-SF) with a NLED model suc…
This work derives the elements of classical Einstein Cartan theory (EC) from classical general relativity (GR) in two ways. (I) Derive discrete versions of torsion (translational holonomy) and the spin torsion field equation of EC from one Kerr solution in GR. (II) Derive the field equations of EC as the continuum limit of a distribution of many Kerr masses in classical GR. The convergence computations employ epsilon delta arguments, and are not as rigorous as convergence in Sobolev norm. Inequality constraints needed for convergence restrict the limits from continuing to an infinitesimal leng…
In these notes we give an introductory unified treatment to the topics of special relativity, Lorentz transformations and the Lorentz group, Einstein velocitiy addition, and gyrogroups and gyrovector spaces. An effort has been made to present the material in a manner that is accessible to non-specialists and graduate students, and may even serve as the basis for a graduate course or seminar.
Einstein's Equivalence Principle and the Gravitational Red Shift II
在这里,我们表明,与这些要求相反,基于等价原则的论点是错误的,\it{only the full theory of general relativity can correctly and unambiguously predict the gravitational red shift}。
A connection-independent formulation of general relativity is presented, in which the dynamics does not depend on the choice of connection. The gravity action in this formulation includes one additional scalar term in addition to the Einstein-Hilbert action. No conditions on the connection are imposed. Nevertheless, this formulation yields the Einstein equations, without adding the Gibbons-Hawking-York term even when a manifold has a boundary. Furthermore, this formulation yields a unified description of general relativity, teleparallel gravity, and symmetric teleparallel gravity.
We present a physically plausible solution representing Einstein's cluster mimicking the behaviors of compact star in the context of teleparallel equivalent of general relativity. The Teleparallel gravity (TEGR) is an alternative formulation of gravity which uses tetrads as the dynamical variables. We focus on two particularly interesting scenarios. First, we develop the Einstein clusters in TEGR field equations using effective energy-momentum tensor for diagonal as well as off-diagonal tetrad. We then study the clusters in modified $f(T)-$gravity for anisotropic fluid distribution. Based on t…
Einstein's theory of general relativity models the physical universe using spacetimes which satisfy Einstein's gravitational field equations. To date, Einstein's theory has been enormously successful in modeling observed gravitational phenomena, both at the astrophysical and the cosmological levels. The collection of spacetime solutions of Einstein's equations which have been effectively used for modeling the physical universe is a very small subset of the full set of solutions. Among this larger set, there are many spacetimes in which strange phenomena related to time are present: There are s…
