It is shown that gravitational nature of inertial mass (Mach principle) agrees with idea of interaction of gravitational and electromagnetic forces and does not contradict the laws of classical mechanics. According to the simple phenomenological model the body inertial mass is directly proportional to its gravitational mass and the sum of coefficients, which characterize degrees of interaction of gravitational forces in accelerated motion of the body in accompanying and opposite directions relative to the gravitational force.
I will argue that the inertial mass is greater than the gravitational mass for all objects which are held together primarily by gravitational forces. Thus, for celestial objects, like planets, stars and galaxies, their inertial mass is greater than their gravitational mass. The analysis used to arrive at this conclusion shows that there should, in principle, exist classical objects with non-zero inertial mass and vanishing gravitational mass. Implications for Quantum Gravity and Quantum Cosmology, are briefly discussed.
In this work we definitely prove a possibility that Milgrom's modified Newtonian dynamics, MOND, can be consistently interpreted as a theory with the modified kinetic terms of the usual Newtonain dynamics, simply called k-MOND. Precisely, we suggest only a functional dependence between inertial and gravitational mass tending toward identity in the limit of large accelerations (characteristic for Newtonian dynamics and its relativistic generalizations) but which behaves as a principal non-identity in the limit of small accelerations (smaller than Milgrom's acceleration constant). This functiona…
Present physics theory deems that the inertial mass characteristic of matter is the result of the interaction of that matter with a newly defined additional field called the Higgs Field after its principle researcher. Stated briefly, the Higgs field mechanism endows "gauge bosons" in a "gauge theory" with mass, through absorption of "Nambu-Goldstone bosons" arising in spontaneous "symmetry breaking". Present physics theory deems that the gravitational mass characteristic of matter is the result of that matter "curving" or "warping" space and time according to the matter's presence through a me…
Newton introduced the concept of mass in his {\it Principia} and gave an intuitive explanation for what it meant. Centuries have passed and physicists as well as philosophers still argue over its meaning. Three types of mass are generally identified: inertial mass, active gravitational mass and passive gravitational mass. In addition to the question of what role mass plays in dynamical equations and why, the origin of the particular amount of matter associated with an elementary particle as a consequence of fundamental fields has long been a topic of research and discussion. In this paper, var…
Inertial motion is considered in the plane of events characterized by the homogeneous Lorentz group L. On the basis of this group, a set of inertial movements and its decomposition into sets which are disconnected from one another with respect to the L-subgroups are considered. The geometric and corresponding physical characteristics of these motions are discussed: relativistic velocity, mass, relativistic momentum and mass/velocity ratio. It is shown that only one world line of inertial motion corresponds to each point on the plane in a space-like area, and the mass growth, dependent on the v…
Due to the breaking of gauge symmetry in rotating superfluid Helium, the inertial mass of a vortex diverges with the vortex size. The vortex inertial mass is thus much higher than the classical inertial mass of the vortex core. An equal increase of the vortex gravitational mass is questioned. The possibility that the vortices in a rotating superfluid could break the weak equivalence principle in relation with a variable speed of light in the superfluid vacuum is debated. Experiments to test this possibility are investigated on the bases that superfluid Helium vortices would not fall, under the…
It has been shown in the past century that the particle inertia against velocity change has increased at higher velocity values. This increase has been predicted in principle in the framework of special theory of relativity. However, any comparison of the corresponding prediction with experimental data obtained already in the first half of the past century has not been provided until now.It will be shown in the presented paper that quite arbitrary inertia mass increase with velocity may be described also in the framework of the classical physics on the basis of Hamilton's equations if the forc…
Proposed in this paper is a possible interaction which exists in nature - inertial interaction. It gives matter an inertia and inertial mass. The formula of inertial mass has been derived. It is possible that inertial interaction leads to the redshifts of quasars, the rotation curve of spiral galaxy, the accelerating expansion of the universe, and the stronger gravitational lens effects of quasars, galaxies, or clusters of galaxies. Einstein's Gravitational Equation has been modified. Gravitational redshift, perihelion precession, and bending of light in spherically symmetric vacuum gravitatio…
We introduce the gauge-invariant vector dynamics of continuous inertial densities through the metric formalism for extended mechanical charges. Ricci scalar density is related to invariant sum of inertial and gravitational mass densities of nonlocal matter-extension. Such a Cartesian continuum of gravitating inertial densities is self-governed by internal tensor tensions toward a static equilibrium state with a Euclidean material 3-space under the equivalence of inertial and gravitational densities of extended masses. External forces and local frictions transform the self-dynamics of an elemen…
The paper discusses, first, distinctions between gravitational and inertial masses (considered as isotopic field-charge (IFC)siblings of the gravitational field), and the ways, how they modify physical theories, including GTR. It shows that their equivalence does not mean identity. Introduction of qualitatively different mass terms modifies (among others) the gravitational equation. That leads to apparently losing its symmetry. In order to keep the symmetry of the stress-energy tensor, then, the paper identifies a symmetry group by the help of the tau algebra, which is isomorphic with the SU(2…
