We consider a Higgs boson coupled to gluons via the five-dimensional effective operator H tr G_{μν}G^{μν}. We treat H as the real part of a complex field phi that couples to the selfdual gluon field strengths and compute the one-loop corrections to the phi-MHV amplitudes involving phi, two negative helicity gluons and an arbitrary number of positive helicity gluons. Our results generalise earlier work where the two negative helicity gluons were constrained to be colour adjacent. We use four-dimensional unitarity to construct the cut-containing contributions and the recently developed recursion relations to obtain the rational contribution for an arbitrary number of external gluons. We solve the recursion relations and give explicit results for up to four external gluons. These amplitudes are relevant for Higgs plus jet production via gluon fusion in the limit where the top quark mass is large compared to all other scales in the problem.
In this letter, we exploit generalised unitarity in order to calculate the cut-constructible part of one-loop amplitudes in non-supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. In particular, we rederive the n-gluon MHV amplitudes for both the adjacent and non-adjacent gluon helicity configurations from 3- and 4-particle cuts alone.
We consider a Higgs boson coupled to gluons via the five-dimensional effective operator H Tr G_{munu}G^{munu} produced by considering the heavy top quark limit of the one-loop coupling of Higgs and gluons in the standard model. We treat H as the real part of a complex field phi that couples to the selfdual gluon field strengths and compute the one-loop corrections to amplitudes involving phi, two colour adjacent negative helicity gluons and an arbitrary number of positive helicity gluons - the so-called phi-MHV amplitudes. We use four-dimensional unitarity to construct the cut-containing contr…
We compute the complete one-loop corrections to the simplest class of QCD gluon amplitudes, those with two color-adjacent opposite-helicity external particles. We present results for an arbitrary number of external legs. The computation uses the recently-developed on-shell recursion relations for the rational parts, along with older unitarity-based results for the cut-containing terms.

Using four-dimensional unitarity and MHV-rules we calculate the one-loop MHV amplitudes with all external particles in the adjoint representation for N=2 supersymmetric QCD with N_f fundamental flavours. We start by considering such amplitudes in the superconformal N=4 gauge theory where the N=4 supersymmetric Ward identities (SWI) guarantee that all MHV amplitudes for all types of external particles are given by the corresponding tree-level result times a universal helicity- and particle-type-independent contribution. In N=2 SQCD the MHV amplitudes differ from those for N=4 for general values…
We show that one-loop amplitudes in massless gauge theories can be determined from single cuts. By cutting a single propagator and putting it on-shell, the integrand of an n-point one-loop integral is transformed into an (n+2)-particle tree level amplitude. The single-cut approach described here is complementary to the double or multiple unitarity cut approaches commonly used in the literature. In common with these approaches, if the cut is taken in four dimensions, one finds only the cut-constructible parts of the amplitude, while if the cut is in D=4-2 epsilon dimensions, both rational and c…
We present an on-shell formalism for superamplitudes of pure N<4 super Yang-Mills theory. Two superfields, Phi and Phi^+, are required to describe the two CPT conjugate supermultiplets. Simple truncation prescriptions allow us to derive explicit tree-level MHV and NMHV superamplitudes with N-fold SUSY. Any N=0,1,2 tree superamplitudes have large-z falloffs under super-BCFW shifts, except under [Phi,Phi^+>-shifts. We show that this `bad' shift is responsible for the bubble contributions to 1-loop amplitudes in N=0,1,2 SYM. We evaluate the MHV bubble coefficients in a manifestly supersymmetric f…
A guide to the composition of the enigmatic f_0(980) and a_0(980) states is their formation in phi-radiative decays. Precision data are becoming available from the KLOE experiment at the DAPHNE machine at Frascati, as well as results from SND and CMD-2 at VEPP-2M at Novosibirsk. We show how the coupling of the f_0(980) to this channel can be extracted from these, independently of the background provided by sigma production. To do this we use the fact that the behaviour of both the f_0(980) and sigma cannot be determined by these data alone, but is strongly constrained by experimental results f…
It is shown that the phase of phi-omega interference in the reaction e^+e^- -->pi^+ pi^- pi^0 at energies close to the phi(1020) peak can be calculated in a way that is practically independent of the model of phi-omega mixing. The magnitude of the presently measured interference phase, still of poor accuracy, is in agreement with the predictions based on extending the omega(782) resonance tail from the peak position to the phi mass upon assuming the omega -->rho pi -->3pi model. The calculated omega width at the phi mass is about 200 MeV.
We present an update of the Unitarity Triangle (UT) analysis, within the Standard Model (SM) and beyond. Within the SM the main novelties are the inclusion in epsilon_K of the contributions of xi and phi_epsilon \neq π/4 pointed out by A.J. Buras and D. Guadagnoli, and an accurate prediction of BR(B -> tau nu), by using the indirect determination of |V_ub| from the UT fit, which can be compared to the present experimental result. In the generalization of the UT analysis to investigate New Physics (NP) effects, the estimate of xi is more delicate and only the effect of phi_epsilon \neq π/4 has …
This report shows the latest results on the study of the method to determine the angle phi_3 of the unitarity triangle using Dalitz plot analysis of D^0 decay from B->DK process in a model-independent way. We concentrate on the case with a limited charm data sample, which will be available from the CLEO-c collaboration in the nearest future, with the main goal to find the optimal strategy for phi_3 extraction.
The recently observed color-suppressed B0bar to D0 pi0, D0 eta, D0 eta', Ds+ K-, D0 K0bar, D0 rho0 and D0 omega decay modes all have rates larger than expected. The color-suppressed Bs to D0 phi, D0bar phi modes, which were suggested for the extraction of the unitarity angle gamma in the Gronau-London method, could be larger than the previous estimation by one order of magnitude. Several new theoretical clean modes in Bs decays are suggested for the extraction of gamma. The proposed Bs to D0 h0, D0bar h0 decay modes with h0 = pi0, eta, eta', rho0, omega in addition to h0 = phi are free from pe…
One-loop amplitudes of gluons in supersymmetric Yang-Mills are four-dimensional cut-constructible. This means that they can be determined from their unitarity cuts. We present a new systematic procedure to explicitly carry out any finite unitarity cut integral. The procedure naturally separates the contributions from bubble, triangle and box scalar integrals. This technique allows the systematic calculation of N=1 amplitudes of gluons. As an application we compute all next-to-MHV six-gluon amplitudes in N=1 super-Yang-Mills.
This report shows the latest results on the study of the method to determine the angle phi_3 of the unitarity triangle using Dalitz plot analysis of $D^0$ decay from B->DK process in a model-independent way. We concentrate on the case with a limited charm data sample, which will be available from the CLEO-c collaboration in the nearest future, with the main goal to find the optimal strategy for phi_3 extraction. We find that the analysis using decays of D_CP only cannot provide a completely model-independent measurement in the case of limited data sample. The procedure involving binned analysi…
We show that models of chaotic inflation based on the phi^p potential and a linear non-minimal coupling to gravity, fR=1+cR phi, can be done consistent with data in the context of Supergravity, retaining the perturbative unitarity up to the Planck scale, if we employ logarithmic Kahler potentials with prefactors -p(1+n) or -p(n+1)-1, where -0.035<= n<=0.007 for p=2 or -0.0145<= n<=0.006 for p=4. Focusing, moreover, on a model employing a gauge non-singlet inflaton, we show that a solution to the mu problem of MSSM and baryogenesis via non-thermal leptogensesis can be also accommodated.
We investigate the interplay between crossed channel final state interactions and the constraints from two--particle unitarity for the reactions J/psi->V pi pi and VK\bar K, where V is either omega or phi. Using a model where the parameters are largely constrained by other sources, we find that, although small, crossed channel final state interaction can influence the amplitudes considerably, in special areas of phase space. These results cast doubt on the inapplicability of unitarity constraints on production amplitudes as recently claimed in the literature.
We emphasize that the recent measurements of the B^0_s - bar B^0_s mass difference Delta M_s by the CDF and D0 collaborations offer an important model independent test of minimal flavour violation (MFV). The improved measurements of the angle gamma in the unitarity triangle and of |V_ub| from tree level decays, combined with future accurate measurements of Delta M_s, S_{psi K_S}, S_{psi phi}, Br(B_{d,s} -> mu+ mu-), Br(B -> X_{d,s} nu bar nu), Br(K+ -> pi+ nu bar nu) and Br(K_L -> pi^0 nu bar nu) and improved values of the relevant non-perturbative parameters, will allow to test the MFV hypoth…
We compute the one-loop QCD amplitudes for the processes HqqQQ and Hqqgg, the latter restricted to the case of opposite-helicity gluons. Analytic expressions are presented for the color- and helicity-decomposed amplitudes. The coupling of the Higgs boson to gluons is treated by an effective interaction in the limit of large top quark mass. The Higgs field is split into a complex field phi and its complex conjugate phi-dagger. The split is useful because amplitudes involving phi have different analytic structure from those involving phi-dagger. We compute the cut-containing pieces of the amplit…
We consider one-loop amplitudes of a Higgs boson coupled to gluons in the limit of a large top quark mass. We treat the Higgs as the real part of a complex field phi that couples to the self-dual field strengths and compute the one-loop corrections to the phi-NMHV amplitude, which contains one gluon of positive helicity whilst the remaining three have negative helicity. We use four-dimensional unitarity to construct the cut-containing contributions and a hybrid of Feynman diagram and recursive based techniques to determine the rational piece. Knowledge of the phi-NMHV contribution completes th…
This report describes the recent efforts to compute analytic formulae for the Next-to-Leading-Order (NLO) QCD corrections to Higgs plus two jet production at hadron colliders. In these calculations the Higgs boson couples to gluons via a top-quark loop which is integrated out to form an effective vertex. The amplitudes are further simplified by splitting the real Higgs scalar into the sum of two complex scalars phi and phi^dagger. Four-dimensional unitarity is used to construct the cut-containing pieces of the amplitude, while a variety of bootstrap and Feynman diagram techniques are used to c…
We illustrate the use of new on-shell methods, 4-dimensional unitarity cuts combined with on-shell recursions relations, by computing the A_4^{(1)}(phi,1^-,2^-,3^+,4^+) amplitude in the large top mass limit where the Higgs boson couples to gluons through an effective interaction.
Recently, the BES collaboration has published an extensive partial wave analysis of experimental data on J/psi -> phi pi+pi-, J/psi -> omega pi+pi-, J/psi -> phi K+K- and J/psi -> omega K+K-. These new results are analyzed here, with full account of detection efficiencies, in the framework of a chiral unitary description with coupled-channel final state interactions between pi-pi and K-bar K pairs. The emission of a dimeson pair is described in terms of the strange and nonstrange scalar form factors of the pion and the kaon, which include the final state interaction and are constrained by unit…
Motivated by the need for an absolute polarimeter to determine the beam polarization for the forthcoming RHIC spin program, we study the spin dependence of the proton-proton elastic scattering amplitudes at high energy and small momentum transfer. We examine experimental evidence for the existence of an asymptotic part of the helicity-flip amplitude phi_5 which is not negligible relative to the largely imaginary average non-flip amplitude phi_+. We discuss theoretical estimates of r_5, essentially the ratio of phi_5 to phi_+, based upon extrapolation of low and medium energy Regge phenomenologi…
We develop an iterative method for constructing four-dimensional generalized unitarity cuts in $\mathcal{N} = 2$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills (SYM) theory coupled to fundamental matter hypermultiplets ($\mathcal{N} = 2$ SQCD). For iterated two-particle cuts, specifically those involving only four-point amplitudes, this implies simple diagrammatic rules for assembling the cuts to any loop order, reminiscent of the rung rule in $\mathcal{N} = 4$ SYM. By identifying physical poles, the construction simplifies the task of extracting complete integrands. In combination with the duality between color an…
We derive a compact expression for the three-point MHV form factors of half-BPS operators in N=4 super Yang-Mills at two loops. The main tools of our calculation are generalised unitarity applied at the form factor level, and the compact expressions for supersymmetric tree-level form factors and amplitudes entering the cuts. We confirm that infrared divergences exponentiate as expected, and that collinear factorisation is entirely captured by an ABDK/BDS ansatz. Next, we construct the two-loop remainder function obtained by subtracting this ansatz from the full two-loop form factor and compute…
We study a minimal flavor violating extension of the MSSM, where higher dimensional operators in the Kahler potential induce tree level non-holomorphic Higgs couplings that are controlled by the scale of the physics beyond the MSSM, and analyze their possible impact on CP violation in Bs and Bd mixing. We consider results on the time dependent CP asymmetries in Bs --> psi phi and Bs --> psi f_0 from LHCb, in Bs --> psi phi from CDF and D0 and in B --> psi K_S from the B factories as well as the measurement of an anomalous like-sign dimuon charge asymmetry at D0. Taking into account the stringe…
We use the invariance of physical picture under a change of Lagrangian, the reparametrization invariance in the space of Lagrangians and its particular case -- the rephrasing invariance, for analysis of the two-Higgs-doublet extension of the SM. We found that some parameters of theory like tan beta are reparametrization dependent and therefore cannot be fundamental. We use the Z2-symmetry of the Lagrangian, which prevents a phi_1 <-> phi_2 transitions, and the different levels of its violation, soft and hard, to describe a physical content of the model. In general, the broken Z2-symmetry allow…
Tree and loop level scattering amplitudes which involve physical massless bosons are derived directly from physical constraints such as locality, symmetry and unitarity, bypassing path integral constructions. Amplitudes can be projected onto a minimal basis of kinematic factors through linear algebra, by employing four dimensional spinor helicity methods or at its most general using projection techniques. The linear algebra analysis is closely related to amplitude relations, especially the Bern-Carrasco-Johansson relations for gluon amplitudes and the Kawai-Lewellen-Tye relations between gluon…
We study how to incorporate CP violation in the Froggatt--Nielsen (FN) mechanism. To this end, we introduce non-renormalizable interactions with a flavor democratic structure to the fermion mass generation sector. It is found that at least two iso-singlet scalar fields with imposed a discrete symmetry are necessary to generate CP violation due to the appearance of the relative phase between their vacuum expectation values. In the simplest model, ratios of quark masses and the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix including the CP violating phase are determined by the CKM element |V_{us}| and …
