An iterative scheme for solving ill-posed nonlinear operator equations with monotone operators is introduced and studied in this paper. A Dynamical Systems Method (DSM) algorithm for stable solution of ill-posed operator equations with monotone operators is proposed and its convergence is proved. A new discrepancy principle is proposed and justified. A priori and a posteriori stopping rules for the DSM algorithm are formulated and justified.
Nonlinear multi-scale problems are ubiquitous in materials science and biology. Complicated interactions between nonlinearities and (nonseparable) multiple scales pose a major challenge for analysis and simulation. In this paper, we study the numerical homogenization for multi-scale elliptic PDEs with monotone nonlinearity, in particular the Leray-Lions problem (a prototypical example is the p-Laplacian equation), where the nonlinearity cannot be parameterized with low dimensional parameters, and the linearization error is non-negligible. We develop the iterated numerical homogenization scheme…
The iterative problem of solving nonlinear equations is studied. A new Newton like iterative method with adjustable parameters is designed based on the dynamic system theory. In order to avoid the derivative function in the iterative scheme, the difference quotient is used instead of the derivative. Different from the existing methods, the difference quotient scheme in this paper has higher accuracy. Thus, the new iterative method is suitable for a wider range of initial values. Finally, several numerical examples are given to verify the practicability and superiority of the method.
It is well known that the choice of the iterative method is crucial in determining the speed of the converged solution. This article presents a detailed comparison between several iterative techniques for solving incmopressible Navier-Stokes equations. The numerical approaches implemented in the solver include Jacobi, Gauss-Siedel, Successive Over Relaxation, Alternating Direct Implicit and Multigrid methods. The results reveal that multigrid method is the most powerful iterative method among all other methods investigated in terms of the computational time and the number of iterations.
In this paper, we generalize the existence result in [14] and prove convergence theorems of the iterative scheme in [12, 16] for monotone generalized alpa-nonexpansive mappings in uniformly convex partially ordered hyperbolic metric spaces. And we also give a numerical example to show that this scheme converges faster than the scheme in [14] and apply the result to the integral equation.
In this paper, we propose a stochastic version of the classical Tseng's forward-backward-forward method with inertial term for solving monotone inclusions given by the sum of a maximal monotone operator and a single-valued monotone operator in real Hilbert spaces. We obtain the almost sure convergence for the general case and the rate $\mathcal{O}(1/n)$ in expectation for the strong monotone case. Furthermore, we derive $\mathcal{O}(1/n)$ rate convergence of the primal-dual gap for saddle point problems.
In this paper, we propose and analyze iterative method based on projection techniques to solve a non-singular linear system Ax = b. In particular, for a given positive integer m, m-dimensional successive projection method (mD-SPM) for symmetric definite matrix A, is generalized for non-singular matrix A. Moreover, it is proved that mD-SPM gives better result for large values of m. Numerical experiments are carried out to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method in comparison with other schemes in the scientific literature.
In this paper we consider a class of fourth order nonlinear integro-differential equations with Navier boundary conditions. By the reduction of the problem to operator equation we establish the existence and uniqueness of solution and construct a numerical method for solving it. We prove that the method is of second order accuracy and obtain an estimate for total error. Some examples demonstrate the validity of the obtained theoretical results and the efficiency of the numerical method.
This paper concerns a class of monotone eigenvalue problems with eigenvector nonlinearities (mNEPv). The mNEPv is encountered in applications such as the computation of joint numerical radius of matrices, best rank-one approximation of third-order partial symmetric tensors, and distance to singularity for dissipative Hamiltonian differential-algebraic equations. We first present a variational characterization of the mNEPv. Based on the variational characterization, we provide a geometric interpretation of the self-consistent-field (SCF) iterations for solving the mNEPv, prove the global conver…

In this article, we describe an implementation of a polynomial system solver to compute the approximate solutions of a 0-dimensional polynomial system with finite precision p-adic arithmetic. We also describe an improvement to an algorithm of Caruso, Roe, and Vaccon for calculating the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of a p-adic matrix.
