We study the attractor mechanism of dual pairs of black brane bounds in N=2 supergravity in six and seven dimensions. First, we consider the effective potentials of the 6D and 7D black branes as well as their entropies. The contribution coming from the SO(1,1) factor of the moduli spaces M_{6D} and M_{7D} of these theories is carefully analyzed and it is used to motivate the study of the dual black branes bounds; which in turn allow to fix the critical value of the dilaton at horizon. The attractor eqs of the black branes and the bound pairs are derived by combining the criticality conditions of the corresponding effective potentials and the Lagrange multiplier method capturing constraints eqs on the fields moduli.
We examine in details the entropy function formalism for non-extremal D3, M2, and M5-branes that their throat approximation is given by Schwarzschild black hole in AdS_{p+2} \times S^{D-(p+2)}. We show that even though there is no attractor mechanism in the non-extremal black holes/branes, the entropy function formalism does work and the entropy is given by the entropy function at its saddle point.
By making use of the entropy function formalism we study the generalized attractor equations in the four dimensional N=2 supergravity in presence of higher order corrections. This result might be used to understand a possible ensemble one could associate to an extremal black hole.
The entropy and the attractor equations for static extremal black hole solutions follow from a variational principle based on an entropy function. In the general case such an entropy function can be derived from the reduced action evaluated in a near-horizon geometry. BPS black holes constitute special solutions of this variational principle, but they can also be derived directly from a different entropy function based on supersymmetry enhancement at the horizon. Both functions are consistent with electric/magnetic duality and for BPS black holes their corresponding OSV-type integrals give ide…
We study the entropy of non-supersymmetric extremal black holes which exhibit attractor mechanism by making use of the entropy function. This method, being simple, can be used to calculate corrections to the entropy due to higher order corrections to the action. In particular we apply this method for five dimensional non-supersymmetric extremal black hole which carries two magnetic charges and find the R^2 corrections to the entropy. Using the behavior of the action evaluated for the extremal black hole near the horizon, we also present a simple expression for C-function corrected by higher or…
We provide a field theory interpretation of the attractor mechanism for asymptotically AdS$_4$ dyonic BPS black holes whose entropy is captured by the supersymmetric index of the twisted ABJM theory at Chern-Simons level one. We holographically compute the renormalized off-shell quantum effective action in the twisted ABJM theory as a function of the supersymmetric fermion masses and the arbitrary vacuum expectation values of the dimension one scalar bilinear operators and show that extremizing the effective action with respect to the vacuum expectation values of the dimension one scalar bilin…
In these lecture notes we describe recent progress in our understanding of attractor mechanism and entropy of extremal black holes based on the entropy function formalism. We also describe precise computation of the microscopic degeneracy of a class of quarter BPS dyons in N=4 supersymmetric string theories, and compare the statistical entropy of these dyons, expanded in inverse powers of electric and magnetic charges, with a similar expansion of the corresponding black hole entropy. This comparison is extended to include the contribution to the entropy from multi-centered black holes as well.
We consider near horizon geometries of extremal black holes in six-dimensional type IIB supergravity. In particular, we use the entropy function formalism to compute the charges and thermodynamic entropy of these solutions. We also comment on the role of attractor mechanism in understanding the entropy of the Hopf T-dual solutions in type IIA supergravity.
In this paper we elaborate on the relation between the entropy formula of Wald and the "entropy function" method proposed by A. Sen. For spherically symmetric extremal black holes, it is shown that the expression of extremal black hole entropy given by A. Sen can be derived from the general entropy definition of Wald, without help of the treatment of rescaling the AdS_2 part of near horizon geometry of extremal black holes. In our procedure, we only require that the surface gravity approaches to zero, and it is easy to understand the Legendre transformation of f, the integration of Lagrangian …
We apply Sen's entropy formalism to the study of the near horizon geometry and the entropy of asymptotically AdS black holes in gauged supergravities. In particular, we consider non-supersymmetric electrically charged black holes with AdS_2 xS^{d-2} horizons in U(1)^4 and U(1)^3 gauged supergravities in d=4 and d=5 dimensions, respectively. We study several cases including static/rotating, BPS and non-BPS black holes in Einstein as well as in Gauss-Bonnet gravity. In all examples, the near horizon geometry and black hole entropy are derived by extremizing the entropy function and are given ent…
As a test for the non-supersymmetric attractor mechanism, we consider extremal Reissner-Nordström-(anti-)de Sitter black holes. Based on the simple observation that the near-horizon geometry of a generic extremal black hole contains two-dimensional anti-de Sitter factor even in the presence of the positive cosmological constant, we apply Ashoke Sen's entropy function method to compute the entropy of these black holes. We find the results which exactly agree with the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy. We also obtain the constant higher-order correction to the entropy due to the Gauss-Bonnet term.
Using the Sen's entropy function formalism, we compute the entropy for the extremal dyonic black hole solutions of theories in the presence of dilaton field coupled to the field strength and a dilaton potential. We solve the attractor equations analytically and determine the near horizon metric, the value of the scalar fields and the electric field on the horizon, and consequently the entropy of these black holes. The attractor mechanism plays a very important role for these systems, and after studying the simplest systems involving dilaton fields, we propose a general ansatz for the value of …
Due to the attractor mechanism, the entropy of an extremal black hole does not vary continuously as we vary the asymptotic values of various moduli fields. Using this fact we argue that the entropy of an extremal black hole in string theory, calculated for a range of values of the asymptotic moduli for which the microscopic theory is strongly coupled, should match the statistical entropy of the same system calculated for a range of values of the asymptotic moduli for which the microscopic theory is weakly coupled. This argument does not rely on supersymmetry and applies equally well to nonsupe…
We apply the entropy formalism to the study of the near-horizon geometry of extremal black p-brane intersections in D>5 dimensional supergravities. The scalar flow towards the horizon is described in terms an effective potential given by the superposition of the kinetic energies of all the forms under which the brane is charged. At the horizon active scalars get fixed to the minima of the effective potential and the entropy function is given in terms of U-duality invariants built entirely out of the black p-brane charges. The resulting entropy function reproduces the central charges of the dua…
We compute the macroscopic entropy of the supersymmetric rotating dyonic strings carrying linear momentum in 6D (1,0) supergravity with curvature squared corrections. Our calculation is based on Sen's entropy function formalism applied to the near-horizon geometry of the string solution taking the form of an extremal BTZ$\times S^3$. The final entropy formula states that the two independent supersymmetric completions of Riemann tensor squared contribute equally to the entropy. A further $S^3$ compactification of the 6D theory results in a matter coupled 3D supergravity model in which the quant…
We examine the attractor mechanism for extremal black holes in the context of five dimensional N = 2 supergravity and show that attractor points are unique in the extended vector multiplet moduli space. Implications for black hole entropy are discussed.
We prove that, in a general higher derivative theory of gravity coupled to abelian gauge fields and neutral scalar fields, the entropy and the near horizon background of a rotating extremal black hole is obtained by extremizing an entropy function which depends only on the parameters labeling the near horizon background and the electric and magnetic charges and angular momentum carried by the black hole. If the entropy function has a unique extremum then this extremum must be independent of the asymptotic values of the moduli scalar fields and the solution exhibits attractor behaviour. If the …
Motivated by the study of black attractors in 8D supergravity with 16 supersymmetries, we use the field theory approach and 8D supersymmetry with non trivial central charges to shed light on the exact duality between heterotic string on T^2 and type IIA on real connected and compact surfaces Σ2. We investigate the two constraints that should be obeyed by Σ2 and give their solutions in terms of intersecting 2-cycles as well their classification using Dynkin diagrams of affine Kac-Moody algebras. It is shown as well that the moduli space of these dual theories is given by SO(1,1)x((SO(2,r+2))/(S…
We study the attractor flow and near horizon geometry of two-charge small black holes in heterotic string theory. The Hessian of Sen's entropy function with respect to the moduli fields has standard attractor properties and shows the interesting factorization at the attractor fixed points. We notice that the stability conditions are preserved under arbitrary $α^{\prime}$-corrections to the black hole solutions.
We use the black hole entropy function to study the effect of Born-Infeld terms on the entropy of extremal black holes in heterotic string theory in four dimensions. We find that after adding a set of higher curvature terms to the effective action, attractor mechanism works and Born-Infeld terms contribute to the stretching of near horizon geometry. In the alpha'--> 0 limit, the solutions of attractor equations for moduli fields and the resulting entropy, are in conformity with the ones for standard two charge black holes.
We review the underlying algebraic structures of supergravity theories with symmetric scalar manifolds in five and four dimensions, orbits of their extremal black hole solutions and the spectrum generating extensions of their U-duality groups. For 5D, N=2 Maxwell-Einstein supergravity theories (MESGT) defined by Euclidean Jordan algebras, J, the spectrum generating symmetry groups are the conformal groups Conf(J) of J which are isomorphic to their U-duality groups in four dimensions. Similarly, the spectrum generating symmetry groups of 4D, N=2 MESGTs are the quasiconformal groups QConf(J) ass…
We extend the discussion of the "Kerr/CFT correspondence" and its recent developments to the more general gauge/gravity correspondence in the full extremal black hole space-time of the bulk by using a technique of the holographic renormalization group (RG) flow. It is conjectured that the extremal black hole space-time is holographically dual to the chiral two dimensional field theory. Our example is a typical four dimensional Reissner-Nordstrom black hole, a system in which the M5-brane is wrapped on four cycles of Calabi-Yau threefold. In five dimensional supergravity view point this near ho…
We introduce a new attractor mechanism to find the entropy for spherically symmetric extremal black holes. The key ingredient is to find a two-dimensional (2D) dilaton gravity with the dilaton potential $V(ϕ)$. The condition of an attractor is given by $\nabla^2ϕ=V(ϕ_0)$ and $\bar{R}_2=-V^{\prime}(ϕ_0)$ and for a constant dilaton $ ϕ=ϕ_0$, these are also used to find the location of the degenerate horizon $r=r_{e}$ of an extremal black hole. As a nontrivial example, we consider an extremal regular black hole obtained from the coupled system of Einstein gravity and nonlinear electrodynamics. Th…
We analyze BPS black hole attractors in 4d gauged supergravity in the presence of higher derivative supersymmetric terms, including a Weyl-squared-type action, and determine the resulting corrections to the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy. The near-horizon geometry AdS$_2 \times$S$^2$ (or other Riemann surface) preserves half of the supercharges in $N=2$ supergravity with Fayet-Iliopoulos gauging. We derive a relation between the entropy and the black hole charges that suggests via AdS/CFT how subleading corrections contribute to the supersymmetric index in the dual microscopic picture. Depending o…
We investigate the attractor mechanism in Kaluza-Klein black hole solution in the presence of higher derivative terms. In particular, we discuss the attractor behavior of static black holes by using the effective potential approach as well as entropy function formalism. We consider different higher derivative terms with a general coupling to moduli field. For the $R^2$ theory, we use effective potential approach, looking for solutions which are analytic near the horizon and show that they exist and enjoy the attractor behavior. The attractor point is determined by extremization of the modified…
In this paper we study spherically symmetric single-centered attractors in N=2 supergravity in four dimensions. The attractor points are obtained by extremising the effective black hole potential in the moduli space. Using the 4D-5D correspondence of critical points of the effective black hole potential we argue the existence of multiple attractors in four dimensions and explicitly construct a pair of multiple solutions in a simple two parameter model. We further obtain explicit examples of two distinct non-supersymmetric attractors in type IIA string theory compactified on K3 X T2 carrying D0…
We study extremal black hole solutions in D dimensions with near horizon geometry AdS_2\times S^{D-2} in higher derivative gravity coupled to other scalar, vector and anti-symmetric tensor fields. We define an entropy function by integrating the Lagrangian density over S^{D-2} for a general AdS_2\times S^{D-2} background, taking the Legendre transform of the resulting function with respect to the parameters labelling the electric fields, and multiplying the result by a factor of 2π. We show that the values of the scalar fields at the horizon as well as the sizes of AdS_2 and S^{D-2} are determ…
In this paper we generalize the results of [1] to 5-dimensional Anti-de Sitter gravity theories with neutral scalars non-minimally coupled to gauge fields. Due to the attractor mechanism, the near horizon geometry of extremal black holes is universal and is determined by only the charge parameters. In particular, we study a class of near horizon geometries that contain an $AdS_2\times S^2$ factor after Kaluza-Klein reduction. In this way we obtain the microscopic entropy of Gutowski-Reall black hole. We also point out a possible connection with the $AdS_2/CFT_1$ correspondence.
The macroscopic entropy-area formula for supersymmetric black holes in N=2,4,8 theories is found to be universal: in d=4 it is always given by the square of the largest of the central charges extremized in the moduli space. The proof of universality is based on the fact that the doubling of unbroken supersymmetry near the black hole horizon requires that all central charges other than Z=M vanish at the attractor point for N=4,8. The ADM mass at the extremum can be computed in terms of duality symmetric quartic invariants which are moduli independent. The extension of these results for d=5, N=1…
We examine few simple extremal black hole configurations of N=8, d=4 supergravity. We first elucidate the relation between the BPS Reissner-Nordstrom black hole and the non-BPS Kaluza-Klein dyonic black hole. Their classical entropy, given by the Bekenstein-Hawking formula, can be reproduced via the attractor mechanism by suitable choices of symplectic frame. Then, we display the embedding of the axion-dilaton black hole into N=8 supergravity.
At the horizon, a static extremal black hole solution in N=2 supergravity in four dimensions is determined by a set of so-called attractor equations which, in the absence of higher-curvature interactions, can be derived as extremization conditions for the black hole potential or, equivalently, for the entropy function. We contrast both methods by explicitly solving the attractor equations for a one-modulus prepotential associated with the conifold. We find that near the conifold point, the non-supersymmetric solution has a substantially different behavior than the supersymmetric solution. We a…
We obtain two extremal, spherically symmetric, non-BPS black hole solutions to 4D supergravity, one of which carries D2-D6 charges and the other carries D0-D2-D4 charges. For the D2-D6 case, rather than solving the equations of motion directly, we assume the form of the solution and then find that the assumption satisfies the equations of motion and the constraint. Our D2-D6 solution is manifestly dual to the solution presented in 0710.4967. The D0-D2-D4 solution is obtained by performing certain $[SL(2,{\bf Z})]^{3}$ duality transformations on the D0-D4 solution in 0710.4967.
We study the attractor mechanism for N=1 supergravity coupled to vector and chiral multiplets and compute the attractor equations of these theories. These equations may have solutions depending on the choice of the holomorphic symmetric matrix f_{ΛΣ} which appears in the kinetic lagrangian of the vector sector. Models with non trivial electric-magnetic duality group which have or have not attractor behavior are exhibited. For a particular class of models, based on an N=1 reduction of homogeneous special geometries, the attractor equations are related to the theory of pure spinors.
In this note, we use the first order formalism for attractor flows in N=2 SUGRA extremal black hole backgrounds to establish a formal correspondence between the RG flow of moduli in the underlying N=(2,2) SCFT and bulk attractor flows. Starting from a study of moduli flow trajectories in the CFT, we derive a potential which generates the aforesaid flow. This potential is shown to be a symplectic invariant with the same form as the black hole potential which drives the attractor flows in the bulk. We use these results to make comments on the non-renormalization of extremal black hole entropy an…
We report on the theory of "large" U-duality charge orbits and related "moduli spaces" of extremal black hole attractors in N = 2, d = 4 Maxwell-Einstein supergravity theories with symmetric scalar manifolds, as well as in N > 3-extended, d = 4 supergravities.
The supersymmetric flow equations describing the flow of moduli from infinity to the black hole horizon, and vice versa, are derived in the five-dimensional theories where the moduli space of the very special geometry has disjoint branches. The multiple solutions are derived from the `off the horizon' attractor equation. Within each branch, the black hole entropy, as usual, depends only on the near horizon attractor values of moduli, i.e. the entropy depends on the charges and on coefficients of the cubic polynomial. It does not depend on the values of the moduli fields at infinity. However, t…
We present a c-function for spherically symmetric, static and asymptotically flat solutions in theories of four-dimensional gravity coupled to gauge fields and moduli. The c-function is valid for both extremal and non-extremal black holes. It monotonically decreases from infinity and in the static region acquires its minimum value at the horizon, where it equals the entropy of the black hole. Higher dimensional cases, involving $p$-form gauge fields, and other generalisations are also discussed.
We study how black hole entropy is generated and the role it plays in several highly dynamical processes: the decay of unstable black strings and ultraspinning black holes; the fusion of two rotating black holes; and the subsequent fission of the merged system into two black holes that fly apart (which can occur in dimension $D\geq 6$, with a mild violation of cosmic censorship). Our approach uses the effective theory of black holes at $D\to\infty$, but we expect our main conclusions to hold at finite $D$. Black hole fusion is highly irreversible, while fission, which follows the pattern of th…
We consider Bekenstein-Hawking entropy and attractors in extremal BPS black holes of $\mathcal{N}=2$, $D=4$ ungauged supergravity obtained as reduction of minimal, matter-coupled $D=5$ supergravity. They are generally expressed in terms of solutions to an inhomogeneous system of coupled quadratic equations, named BPS system, depending on the cubic prepotential as well as on the electric-magnetic fluxes in the extremal black hole background. Focussing on homogeneous non-symmetric scalar manifolds (whose classification is known in terms of $L(q,P,\dot{P})$ models), under certain assumptions on t…
The exact entropy of two-charge supersymmetric black holes in N=4 string theories is computed to all orders using Wald's formula and the supersymmetric attractor equations with an effective action that includes the relevant higher curvature terms. Classically, these black holes have zero area but the attractor equations are still applicable at the quantum level. The quantum corrected macroscopic entropy agrees precisely with the microscopic counting for an infinite tower of fundamental string states to all orders in an asymptotic expansion.
We consider the superconformal quantum mechanics associated to BPS black holes in type IIB Calabi-Yau compactifications. This quantum mechanics describes the dynamics of D-branes in the near-horizon attractor geometry of the black hole. In many cases, the black hole entropy can be found by counting the number of chiral primaries in this quantum mechanics. Both the attractor mechanism and notions of marginal stability play important roles in generating the large number of microstates required to explain this entropy. We compute the microscopic entropy explicitly in a few different cases, where …
We discuss some of the basic features of extremal black holes in four-dimensional extended supergravities. Firstly, all regular solutions display an attractor behavior for the scalar field evolution towards the black hole horizon. Secondly, they can be obtained by solving first order flow equations even when they are not supersymmetric, provided one identifies a suitable superpotential W which also gives the black hole entropy at the horizon and its ADM mass at spatial infinity. We focus on N=8 supergravity and we review the basic role played by U-duality of the underlying supergravity in dete…
We use the relation between extremal black hole solutions in five- and in four-dimensional N=2 supergravity theories with cubic prepotentials to define the entropy function for extremal black holes with one angular momentum in five dimensions. We construct two types of solutions to the associated attractor equations.
Via a series of Kaluza-Klein (KK) and Scherk-Schwarz (SS) compactifications we relate BPS attractors and their complete (in general non-BPS) flows to a Minkowski vacuum in gauged supergravities with vanishing scalar potential in 4, 5, and 6 dimensions. This way we can look at a class of extremal non-BPS black holes and strings from IIB string theory viewpoint, keeping 4 supercharges on the horizon. Our results imply the existence of a dual 2d N = (0,2) superconformal field theory (SCFT) that originates from a parent N=(4,4) theory living on a D1-D5 system. This is achieved starting from the BP…
We investigate the existence of supersymmetric static dyonic black holes with spherical horizon in the context of N= 2 U(1) gauged supergravity in four dimensions. We analyze the conditions for their existence and provide the general first-order flow equations driving the scalar fields and the metric warp factors from the asymptotic AdS4 geometry to the horizon. We work in a general duality-symmetric setup, which allows to describe both electric and magnetic gaugings. We also discuss the attractor mechanism and the issue of moduli (de-)stabilization.
These lectures give an elementary introduction to the subject of four dimensional black holes (BHs) in supergravity and the Attractor Mechanism in the extremal case. Some thermodynamical properties are discussed and some relevant formulae for the critical points of the BH effective potential are given. The case of Maxwell-Einstein-axion-dilaton (super)gravity is discussed in detail. Analogies among BH entropy and multipartite entanglement of qubits in quantum information theory, as well moduli spaces of extremal BH attractors, are also discussed.
The microstates of 4d BPS black holes in IIA string theory compactified on a Calabi-Yau manifold are counted by a (generalized) elliptic genus of a (0,4) conformal field theory. By exploiting a spectral flow that relates states with different charges, and using the Rademacher formula, we find that the elliptic genus has an exact asymptotic expansion in terms of semi-classical saddle-points of the dual supergravity theory. This generalizes the known "Black Hole Farey Tail" of [1] to the case of attractor black holes.
We propose a program for counting microstates of four-dimensional BPS black holes in N >= 2 supergravities with symmetric-space valued scalars by exploiting the symmetries of timelike reduction to three dimensions. Inspired by the equivalence between the four dimensional attractor flow and geodesic flow on the three-dimensional scalar manifold, we radially quantize stationary, spherically symmetric BPS geometries. Connections between the topological string amplitude, attractor wave function, the Ooguri-Strominger-Vafa conjecture and the theory of automorphic forms suggest that black hole degen…
We find a general principle which allows one to compute the area of the horizon of N=2 extremal black holes as an extremum of the central charge. One considers the ADM mass equal to the central charge as a function of electric and magnetic charges and moduli and extremizes this function in the moduli space (a minimum corresponds to a fixed point of attraction). The extremal value of the square of the central charge provides the area of the horizon, which depends only on electric and magnetic charges. The doubling of unbroken supersymmetry at the fixed point of attraction for N=2 black holes ne…
Freudenthal duality (F-duality), an anti-involution of charge vectors keep the entropy and attractor solutions invariant for an extremal supersymmetric black hole. In this paper, we analyze the effect of F-duality on the entropy of a near-extremal $STU$ black hole in $\mathcal{N}=2$ ungauged, four-dimensional supergravity. We consider double-extremal black holes, whose attractor solutions are fixed in terms of the black hole charges throughout the moduli space. It is well known that JT gravity governs the dynamics of the near-horizon regions of higher dimensional, near-extremal black holes. Ow…
We review recent results in the study of attractor horizon geometries (with non-vanishing Bekenstein-Hawking entropy) of dyonic extremal d=4 black holes in supergravity. We focus on N=2, d=4 ungauged supergravity coupled to a number n_{V} of Abelian vector multiplets, outlining the fundamentals of the special Kaehler geometry of the vector multiplets' scalar manifold (of complex dimension n_{V}), and studying the 1/2-BPS attractors, as well as the non-BPS (non-supersymmetric) ones with non-vanishing central charge. For symmetric special Kaehler geometries, we present the complete classificatio…

Non-extremal black holes in $\mathcal{N}=2$ supergravity have two horizons, the geometric mean of whose areas recovers the horizon area of the extremal black hole obtained from taking a smooth zero temperature limit. In prior work (arxiv:1410.3478), using the attractor mechanism, we deduced the existence of several moduli independent invariant quantities obtained from averaging over a decoupled inter-horizon region. We establish that non-extremal geometries at the Reissner--Nordström point, where the scalar moduli are held fixed, can be lifted to solutions in supergravity with a near-horizon A…
We investigate four-dimensional spherically symmetric black hole solutions in gravity theories with massless, neutral scalars non-minimally coupled to gauge fields. In the non-extremal case, we explicitly show that, under the variation of the moduli, the scalar charges appear in the first law of black hole thermodynamics. In the extremal limit, the near horizon geometry is $AdS_2\times S^2$ and the entropy does not depend on the values of moduli at infinity. We discuss the attractor behaviour by using Sen's entropy function formalism as well as the effective potential approach and their relati…
We analyze stationary BPS black hole solutions to 4d $\mathcal{N}=2$ abelian gauged supergravity. Using an appropriate near horizon ansatz, we construct rotating attractors with magnetic flux realizing a topological twist along the horizon surface, for any theory with a symmetric scalar manifold. An analytic flow to asymptotically locally $AdS_4$ is presented for a subclass of these near horizon geometries, and an explicit new example of supersymmetric $AdS_4$ rotating black hole is discussed in detail. We further note that, upon tuning the gauging to special values, one can obtain solutions w…
We investigate the attractor mechanism in gauged supergravity in the presence of higher derivatives terms. In particular, we discuss the attractor behaviour of static black hole horizons in anti-de Sitter spacetime by using the effective potential approach as well as Sen's entropy function formalism. We use the holographic techniques to interpret the moduli flow as an RG flow towards the IR attractor horizon. We find that the holographic c-function obeys the expected properties and point out some subtleties in understanding attractors in AdS.
We study intersecting extremal black attractors in non chiral 8D N=1 supergravity with moduli space ((SO(2,N))/(SO(2)\times SO(N)))\times SO(1,1) and work out explicitly the attractor mechanism for various black p-brane configurations with the typical near horizon geometries AdS_{p+2} \times S^{m} \times T^{6-p-m}. We also give the classification of the solutions of the attractor equations in terms of the SO(N-k) subgroups of SO(2)\times SO(N) symmetry of the moduli space as well as their interpretations in terms of both heterotic string on 2-torus and its type IIA dual. Other features such as…
Imposing T-duality in the renormalisation process of entanglement entropy leads to new relations between entanglement entropy counter-terms. T-duality is made explicit by means of the generalised metric of double field theory in the context of bulk-boundary duality. Double field theory in the bulk naturally provides the new relations between higher order quantum corrections to entanglement entropy as well as a systematic approach to understanding entanglement entropy renormalisation counter-terms. An analogue for Slavnov-Taylor identities for T-dual counter-terms of entanglement entropy is env…
