We apply the Sklyanin method of separation of variables to the reflection algebra underlying the open spin-1/2 XXX chain with non-diagonal boundary fields. The spectral problem can be formulated in terms of a TQ-equation which leads to the known Bethe equations for boundary parameters satisfying a constraint. For generic boundary parameters we study the asymptotic behaviour of the solutions of the TQ-equation.
Using the fermionic basis we obtain the expectation values of all $\slt$-invariant and $C$-invariant local operators on 10 sites for the anisotropic six-vertex model on a cylinder with generic Matsubara data. This is equivalent to the generalised Gibbs ensemble for the XXX spin chain. In the case when the $\slt$ and $C$ symmetries are not broken this computation is equivalent to finding the entire density matrix up to 10 sites. As application, we compute the entanglement entropy without and with temperature, and compare the results with CFT predictions.
An inhomogeneous T-Q equation has recently been proposed by Cao, Yang, Shi and Wang for the open spin-1/2 XXX chain with general (nondiagonal) boundary terms. We argue that a simplified version of this equation describes all the eigenvalues of the transfer matrix of this model. We also propose a generating function for the inhomogeneous T-Q equations of arbitrary spin.
With the off-diagonal Bethe ansatz method proposed recently by the present authors, we exactly diagonalize the $XXX$ spin chain with arbitrary boundary fields. By constructing a functional relation between the eigenvalues of the transfer matrix and the quantum determinant, the associated $T-Q$ relation and the Bethe ansatz equations are derived.
We consider XXX spin-$1/2$ Heisenberg chain with non-diagonal boundary conditions. We obtain a compact determinant representation for the scalar product of on-shell and off-shell Bethe vectors. In the particular case when both Bethe vectors are on shell, we obtain a determinant representation for the norm of on-shell Bethe vector and prove orthogonality of the on-shell vectors corresponding to the different eigenvalues of the transfer matrix.
We show the XXX model has the N = 2 dynamical supersymmetry. Using the supercharges defined by the Jordan-Wigner fermions, it was found that the anti-commutation relation of the supercharges gives the Hamiltonian of the XXX model with magnetic field. In order to compare the length-change supercharges with the conventional ones, we interpreted their actions in the spinon basis. In the last part of this paper, we propose the application of the dynamical supersymmetry to the models with magnetic impurities through the Bethe-ansatz analysis.
We study XXX Heisenberg spin 1/2 anti-ferromagnet. We evaluate a probability of formation of a ferromagnetic string in the anti-ferromagnetic ground state in thermodynamics limit. We prove that for short strings the probability can be expressed in terms of Riemann zeta function with odd arguments.
We present a general method of folding an integrable spin chain, defined on a line, to obtain an integrable open spin chain, defined on a half-line. We illustrate our method through two fundamental models with sl(2) Lie algebra symmetry: the Heisenberg XXX and the Inozemtsev hyperbolic spin chains. We obtain new long-range boundary Hamiltonians and demonstrate that they exhibit Yangian symmetries, thus ensuring integrability of the models we obtain. The method presented provides a "bottom-up" approach for constructing integrable boundaries and can be applied to any spin chain model.
In this paper we propose a method based on the algebraic Bethe ansatz leading to explicit results for the form factors of quantum spin chains in the thermodynamic limit. Starting from the determinant representations we retrieve in particular the formula for the two-spinon form factors for the isotropic XXX Heisenberg chain obtained initially in the framework of the $q$-vertex operator approach.
We consider integrable boundary states in the XXX spin-1/2 spin chain. We begin by briefly reviewing the algebraic Bethe Ansatz as well as integrable boundary states in spin chains. Then a recently discovered class of integrable states known as crosscap states is described and expanded. In these states each spin is entangled with its antipodal spin. We present a novel proof of the integrability of both a crosscap state that is known in the literature and one that has not previously been studied. We then use the machinery of the algebraic Bethe Ansatz to derive the overlaps between the crosscap…
We prove the modified algebraic Bethe Ansatz characterization of the spectral problem for the closed XXX Heisenberg spin chain with an arbitrary twist and arbitrary positive (half)-integer spin at each site of the chain. We provide two basis to characterize the spectral problem and two families of inhomogeneous Baxter T-Q equations. The two families satisfy an inhomogeneous quantum Wronskian equation.
We implement fully the algebraic Bethe ansatz for the XXX Heisenberg spin chain in the case when both boundary matrices can be brought to the upper-triangular form. We define the Bethe vectors which yield the strikingly simple expression for the off shell action of the transfer matrix, deriving the spectrum and the corresponding Bethe equations. We explore further these results by obtaining the off shell action of the generating function of the Gaudin Hamiltonians on the Bethe vectors through the so-called quasi-classical limit.
Applying the Pasquier-Gaudin procedure we construct the Baxter's Q-operator for the homogeneous XXX model as integral operator in standard representation of SL(2). The connection between Q-operator and local Hamiltonians is discussed. It is shown that operator of Lipatov's duality symmetry arises naturally as leading term of the asymptotic expansion of Q-operator for large values of spectral parameter.
In this note we construct Q-operators for the spin s open Heisenberg XXX chain with diagonal boundaries in the framework of the quantum inverse scattering method. Following the algebraic Bethe ansatz we diagonalise the introduced Q-operators using the fundamental commutation relations. By acting on Bethe off-shell states and explicitly evaluating the trace in the auxiliary space we compute the eigenvalues of the Q-operators in terms of Bethe roots and show that the unwanted terms vanish if the Bethe equations are satisfied.
Following the approach of [Alexandrov A., Kazakov V., Leurent S., Tsuboi Z., Zabrodin A., J. High Energy Phys. 2013 (2013), no. 9, 064, 65 pages, arXiv:1112.3310], we show how to construct the master T-operator for the quantum inhomogeneous GL(N) XXX spin chain with twisted boundary conditions. It satisfies the bilinear identity and Hirota equations for the classical mKP hierarchy. We also characterize the class of solutions to the mKP hierarchy that correspond to eigenvalues of the master T-operator and study dynamics of their zeros as functions of the spectral parameter. This implies a remar…
Using the Algebraic Bethe Ansatz we consider the correlation functions of the integrable higher spin chains. We apply a method recently developed for the spin $\frac 12$ Heisenberg chain, based on the solution of the quantum inverse problem. We construct a representation for the correlation functions on a finite chain for arbitrary spin. Then we show how the string solutions of the Bethe equations can be considered in the framework of this approach in the thermodynamic limit. Finally, a multiple integral representation for the spin 1 zero temperature correlation functions is obtained in the th…
The general solutions for the factorization equations of the reflection matrices $K^{\pm}(θ)$ for the eight vertex and six vertex models (XYZ, XXZ and XXX chains) are found. The associated integrable magnetic Hamiltonians are explicitly derived, finding families dependig on several continuous as well as discrete parameters.
The antiperiodic transfer matrix associated to higher spin representations of the rational 6-vertex Yang-Baxter algebra is analyzed by generalizing the approach introduced recently in [1], for the cyclic representations, in [2], for the spin-1/2 highest weight representations, and in [3], for the spin 1/2 representations of the reflection algebra. Here, we derive the complete characterization of the transfer matrix spectrum and we prove its simplicity in the framework of Sklyanin's quantum separation of variables (SOV). Then, the characterization of local operators by Sklyanin's quantum separa…
We describe a few properties of the XXX spin chain with long range interaction. The plan of these notes is: 1. The Hamiltonian 2. Symmetry of the model 3. The irreducible multiplets 4. The spectrum 5. Wave functions and statistics 6. The spinon description 7. The thermodynamics
We analyze the ground state of the open spin-1/2 isotropic quantum spin chain with a non-diagonal boundary term using a recently proposed Bethe ansatz solution. As the coefficient of the non-diagonal boundary term tends to zero, the Bethe roots split evenly into two sets: those that remain finite, and those that become infinite. We argue that the former satisfy conventional Bethe equations, while the latter satisfy a generalization of the Richardson-Gaudin equations. We derive an expression for the leading correction to the boundary energy in terms of the boundary parameters.
We present some open problems in the field of exactly solvable models. Two of the problems are related to the correlation functions of the XXX spin chain and the XXZ spin chain, one to the entropy of subsystems and one to the six vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions.
The integrable XXX spin s quantum chain and the alternating $s^{1}$, $s^{2}$ ($s^{1}-s^{2}={1\over 2}$) chain with boundaries are considered. The scattering of their excitations with the boundaries via the Bethe ansatz method is studied, and the exact boundary S matrices are computed in the limit $s, s^{1, 2} \to \infty$. Moreover, the connection of these models with the SU(2) Principal Chiral, WZW and the RSOS models is discussed.
Based on the method of separation of variables due to Sklyanin, we construct a new integral representation for the scalar products of the Bethe states for the SU(2) XXX spin 1/2 chain obeying the periodic boundary condition. Due to the compactness of the symmetry group, a twist matrix must be introduced at the boundary in order to extract the separated variables properly. Then by deriving the integration measure and the spectrum of the separated variables, we express the inner product of an on-shell and an off-shell Bethe states in terms of a multiple contour integral involving a product of Ba…
We discuss the construction of Baxter's Q-operator. The suggested approach leads to the one-parametric family of Q-operators, satisfying to the wronslian-type relations. Also we have found the generalization of Baxter operators, with defines the nondiagonal part of the monodromy.
XXX spin chain with spin $s=-1$ appears as an effective theory of Quantum Chromodynamics. It is equivalent to lattice nonlinear Schroediger's equation: interacting chain of harmonic oscillators [bosonic]. In thermodynamic limit each energy level is a scattering state of several elementary excitations [lipatons]. Lipaton is a fermion: it can be represented as a topological excitation [soliton] of original [bosonic] degrees of freedom, described by the group $Z_2$ . We also provide the CFT description (including local quenches) and Yang-Yang thermodynamics of the model.
We study the spectrum of the integrable open XXX Heisenberg spin chain subject to non-diagonal boundary magnetic fields. The spectral problem for this model can be formulated in terms of functional equations obtained by separation of variables or, equivalently, from the fusion of transfer matrices. For generic boundary conditions the eigenvalues cannot be obtained from the solution of finitely many algebraic Bethe equations. Based on careful finite size studies of the analytic properties of the underlying hierarchy of transfer matrices we devise two approaches to analyze the functional equatio…
The general solution to the reflection equation associated with the jordanian deformation of the SL(2) invariant Yang R-matrix is found. The same K-matrix is obtained by the special scaling limit of the XXZ-model with general boundary conditions. The Hamiltonian with the boundary terms is explicitly derived according to the Sklyanin formalism. We discuss the structure of the spectrum of the deformed XXX-model and its dependence on the boundary conditions.
In this paper, we investigate the thermal entanglement and teleportation of a thermally mixed entangled via a two-qubit Heisenberg XXX chain with the x-component $D_x$ of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. Our findings suggest that temperature $T$, spin coupling constant J, and the x-components $D_x$ may influence entanglement of the output states and, consequently, the possibilities of teleportation protocols. Furthermore, these results indicate that the entanglement of the output states requires a low-temperature regime, weak Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction, or an antiferromagnetic cha…
We propose a generalization of the algebraic Bethe ansatz to obtain the eigenvectors of the Heisenberg spin chain with general boundaries associated to the eigenvalues and the Bethe equations found recently by Cao et al. The ansatz takes the usual form of a product of operators acting on a particular vector except that the number of operators is equal to the length of the chain. We prove this result for the chains with small length. We obtain also an off-shell equation (i.e. satisfied without the Bethe equations) formally similar to the ones obtained in the periodic case or with diagonal bound…
This article explores the concurrence, including entanglement, in a two-qubit Heisenberg XXX chain with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya and Kaplan-Shekhtman-Entin-Wohlman-Aharony interactions. The concurrence expression was developed using the physical variables connected with the chosen system. Our results indicate that temperature, the spin coupling constant $J$, the x-components $D_x$, and $Γ_x$ may all play a role in determining the degree of intricacy between states. Additionally, these findings imply that the separability of states is possible for high-temperature domains or ferromagnetic chains. …
For the integrable higher-spin XXX and XXZ spin chains we present multiple-integral representations for the correlation function of an arbitrary product of Hermitian elementary matrices in the massless ground state. We give a formula expressing it by a single term of multiple integrals. In particular, we explicitly derive the emptiness formation probability (EFP). We assume $2s$-strings for the ground-state solution of the Bethe ansatz equations for the spin-$s$ XXZ chain, and solve the integral equations for the spin-$s$ Gaudin matrix. In terms of the XXZ coupling $Δ$ we define $ζ$ by $Δ=\cos…
We consider the XXX open spin-1/2 chain with the most general non-diagonal boundary terms, that we solve by means of the quantum separation of variables (SoV) approach. We compute the scalar products of separate states, a class of states which notably contains all the eigenstates of the model. As usual for models solved by SoV, these scalar products can be expressed as some determinants with a non-trivial dependance in terms of the inhomogeneity parameters that have to be introduced for the method to be applicable. We show that these determinants can be transformed into alternative ones in whi…
We explain how to compute correlation functions at zero temperature within the framework of the quantum version of the Separation of Variables (SoV) in the case of a simple model: the XXX Heisenberg chain of spin 1/2 with twisted (quasi-periodic) boundary conditions. We first detail all steps of our method in the case of anti-periodic boundary conditions. The model can be solved in the SoV framework by introducing inhomogeneity parameters. The action of local operators on the eigenstates are then naturally expressed in terms of multiple sums over these inhomogeneity parameters. We explain how …
In this article we study the relation between the eigenstates of open rational spin $\frac{1}{2}$ Heisenberg chains with different boundary conditions. The focus lies on the relation between the spin chain with diagonal boundary conditions and the spin chain with triangular boundary conditions as well as the class of spin chains that can be brought to such form by certain similarity transformations in the physical space. The boundary driven Symmetric Simple Exclusion Process (open SSEP) belongs to the latter. We derive a transformation that maps the eigenvectors of the diagonal spin chain to t…

The implementation of the algebraic Bethe ansatz for the XXZ Heisenberg spin chain, of arbitrary spin-$s$, in the case, when both reflection matrices have the upper-triangular form is analyzed. The general form of the Bethe vectors is studied. In the particular form, Bethe vectors admit the recurrent procedure, with an appropriate modification, used previously in the case of the XXX Heisenberg chain. As expected, these Bethe vectors yield the strikingly simple expression for the off-shell action of the transfer matrix of the chain as well as the spectrum of the transfer matrix and the correspo…
We investigate the exact overlaps between eigenstates of integrable spin chains and a special class of states called "integrable initial/final states". These states satisfy a special integrability constraint, and they are closely related to integrable boundary conditions. We derive new algebraic relations for the integrable states, which lead to a set of recursion relations for the exact overlaps. We solve these recursion relations and thus we derive new overlap formulas, valid in the XXX Heisenberg chain and its integrable higher spin generalizations. Afterwards we generalize the integrabilit…
We study the local conserved charges in integrable spin chains of the XYZ type with nontrivial boundary conditions. The general structure of these charges consists of a bulk part, whose density is identical to that of a periodic chain, and a boundary part. In contrast with the periodic case, only charges corresponding to interactions of even number of spins exist for the open chain. Hence, there are half as many charges in the open case as in the closed case. For the open spin-1/2 XY chain, we derive the explicit expressions of all the charges. For the open spin-1/2 XXX chain, several lowest o…
We consider the rational six-vertex model on an L-by-L lattice with domain wall boundary conditions and restrict N parallel-line rapidities, N < L/2, to satisfy length-L XXX spin-1/2 chain Bethe equations. We show that the partition function is an (L-2N)-parameter extension of Slavnov's scalar product of a Bethe eigenstate and a generic state, with N magnons each, on a length-L XXX spin-1/2 chain. Decoupling the extra parameters, we obtain a third determinant expression for the scalar product, where the first is due to Slavnov [1], and the second is due to Kostov and Matsuo [2]. We show that t…
The Motzkin spin chain is a spin-1 model introduced in \cite{shor} as an example of a system exhibiting a high degree of quantum fluctuations whose ground state can be mapped to Motzkin paths that are generated with local equivalence moves. This model is difficult to solve in general but keeping just the height preserving local equivalence moves we show that the model becomes integrable which when projected to certain subspaces of the full Hilbert space is isomorphic to the spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ XXX chain. In fact in the full Hilbert space the system is akin to two non-interacting spin-$\frac{1}{…
We construct SU(n+1) BPS spherically symmetric monopoles with minimal symmetry breaking by solving the full Weyl equation. In this context, we explore and discuss the existence of open spin chain-like part within the Weyl equation. For instance, in the SU(3) case the relevant spin chain is the 2-site spin 1/2 XXX chain with open boundary conditions. We exploit the existence of such a spin chain part in order to solve the full Weyl equation.
The general rational solution of the Yang-Baxter equation with the symmetry algebra sl(2) can be represented as the product of the simpler building blocks denoted as R-operators. The R-operators are constructed explicitly and have simple structure. Using the R-operators we construct the two-parametric Baxter's Q-operator for the generic inhomogeneous periodic XXX spin chain. In the case of homogeneous XXX spin chain it is possible to reduce the general Q-operator to the much simpler one-parametric operator.
Bethe ansatz equations for spin-$s$ Heisenberg spin chain with $s\ge1$ are significantly more difficult to analyze than the spin-$\tfrac{1}{2}$ case, due to the presence of repeated roots. As a result, it is challenging to derive extra conditions for the Bethe roots to be physical and study the related completeness problem. In this paper, we propose the rational $Q$-system for the XXX$_s$ spin chain. Solutions of the proposed $Q$-system give all and only physical solutions of the Bethe ansatz equations required by completeness. This is checked numerically and proved rigorously. The rational $Q…
New boundary conditions for integrable nonlinear lattices of the XXX type, such as the Heisenberg chain and the Toda lattice are presented. These integrable extensions are formulated in terms of a generic XXX Heisenberg magnet interacting with two additional spins at each end of the chain. The construction uses the most general rank 1 ansatz for the 2x2 L-operator satisfying the reflection equation algebra with rational r-matrix. The associated quadratic algebra is shown to be the one of dynamical symmetry for the A1 and BC2 Calogero-Moser problems. Other physical realizations of our quadratic…
Baxter's Q-operator is generally believed to be the most powerful tool for the exact diagonalization of integrable models. Curiously, it has hitherto not yet been properly constructed in the simplest such system, the compact spin-1/2 Heisenberg-Bethe XXX spin chain. Here we attempt to fill this gap and show how two linearly independent operatorial solutions to Baxter's TQ equation may be constructed as commuting transfer matrices if a twist field is present. The latter are obtained by tracing over infinitely many oscillator states living in the auxiliary channel of an associated monodromy matr…
The most general physical boundary $S$-matrix for the open XXZ spin chain in the non-critical regime ($\cosh (η)>1$) is derived starting from the bare Bethe ansazt equations. The boundary $S$-matrix as expected is expressed in terms of $Γ_q$-functions. In the isotropic limit corresponding results for the open XXX chain are also reproduced.
The one-dimensional Heisenberg XXX spin chain appears in a special limit of the AdS/CFT integrable system. We review various ways of proving its integrability, and discuss the associated methods of solution. In particular, we outline the coordinate and the algebraic Bethe ansatz, giving reference to literature suitable for learning these techniques. Finally we speculate which of the methods might lift to the exact solution of the AdS/CFT system, and sketch a promising method for constructing the Baxter Q-operator of the XXX chain. It allows to find the spectrum of the model using certain algeb…
We present a new form of solution to the quantum Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation on level -4 in a special case corresponding to the Heisenberg XXX spin chain. Our form is equivalent to the integral representation obtained by Jimbo and Miwa in 1996 . An advantage of our form is that it is reduced to the product of single integrals. This fact is deeply related to a cohomological nature of our formulae. Our approach is also based on the deformation of hyper-elliptic integrals and their main property -- deformed Riemann bilinear relation. Jimbo and Miwa also suggested a nice conjecture which relat…
The Bethe equations for the periodic XXX and XXZ spin chains admit singular solutions, for which the corresponding eigenvalues and eigenvectors are ill-defined. We use a twist regularization to derive conditions for such singular solutions to be physical, in which case they correspond to genuine eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the Hamiltonian.
We construct Q-operators for the open spin-1/2 XXX Heisenberg spin chain with diagonal boundary matrices. The Q-operators are defined as traces over an infinite-dimensional auxiliary space involving novel types of reflection operators derived from the boundary Yang-Baxter equation. We argue that the Q-operators defined in this way are polynomials in the spectral parameter and show that they commute with transfer matrix. Finally, we prove that the Q-operators satisfy Baxter's TQ-equation and derive the explicit form of their eigenvalues in terms of the Bethe roots.
We consider a finite sub-chain on an interval of the infinite XXX model in the ground state. The density matrix for such a subsystem was described in our previous works for the model with inhomogeneous spectral parameters. In the present paper, we give a compact formula for the physically interesting case of the homogeneous model.
