Let an algebraic group G act on X, a connected algebraic manifold, with finitely many orbits. For any Harish-Chandra pair (D,G) where D is a sheaf of twisted differential operators on X, we form a left ideal D.g in D generated by the Lie algebra g, of G. Then, D/D.g is a holonomic D-module and its restriction to a unique Zariski open dense G-orbit in X is a G-equivariant local system. We prove a criterion saying that the D-module D/D.g is isomorphic, under certain (quite restrictive) conditions, to a direct image of that local system to X. We apply this criterion in the special case where the group G=SL(n) acts diagonally on X = F \times F \times P^{n-1}, a triple product where F is the flag manifold for SL(n) and P^{n-1} is the projective space.
We further relate D-modules on F \times F \times P^{n-1} to D-modules on the space SL(n) \times P^{n-1} via a pair, CH, HC, of adjoint functors, analogous to those used in Lusztig's theory of character sheaves.
A second important result of the paper provides an explicit description of these functors showing that the functor HC gives an exact functor on the abelian category of mirabolic D-modules.
We study holonomic D-modules on SL_n(C)xC^n, called mirabolic modules, analogous to Lusztig's character sheaves. We describe the supports of simple mirabolic modules. We show that a mirabolic module is killed by the functor of Hamiltonian reduction from the category of mirabolic modules to the category of representations of the trigonometric Cherednik algebra if and only if the characteristic variety of the module is contained in the unstable locus. We introduce an analogue of the Verdier specialization functor for representations of Cherednik algebras which agrees, on category O, with the res…
In math.RT/0205144 we observed that, on the level of derived categories, representations of the Lie algebra of a semisimple algebraic group over a field of finite characteristic with a given (generalized) regular central character can be identified with coherent sheaves on the formal neighborhood of the corresponding (generalized) Springer fiber. In the present paper we treat singular central characters. The basic step is the Beilinson-Bernstein localization of modules with a fixed (generalized) central character as sheaves on the partial flag variety corresponding to the singularity of the ch…
In the first part we deepen the six-functor theory of (holonomic) logarithmic D-modules, in particular with respect to duality and pushforward along projective morphisms. Then, inspired by work of Ogus, we define a logarithmic analogue of the de Rham functor, sending logarithmic D-modules to certain graded sheaves on the so-called Kato-Nakayama space. For holonomic modules we show that the associated sheaves have finitely generated stalks and that the de Rham functor intertwines duality for D-modules with a version of Poincaré-Verdier duality on the Kato-Nakayama space. Finally, we explain how…
We will establish a nearby and vanishing cycle formalism for the arithmetic $\mathscr{D}$-module theory following Beilinson's philosophy. As an application, we define smooth objects in the framework of arithmetic $\mathscr{D}$-modules whose category is equivalent to the category of overconvergent isocrystals.
We construct a quasi-categorically enhanced Grothendieck six-functor formalism on schemes of finite type over the complex numbers. In addition to satisfying many of the same properties as M. Saito's derived categories of mixed Hodge modules, this new six-functor formalism receives canonical motivic realization functors compatible with Grothendieck's six functors on constructible objects.
This paper is a contribution to the study of relative holonomic $\mathcal{D}$-modules. Contrary to the absolute case, the standard $t$-structure on holonomic $\mathcal{D}$-modules is not preserved by duality and hence the solution functor is no longer $t$-exact with respect to the canonical, resp. middle-perverse, $t$-structures. We provide an explicit description of these dual $t$-structures. When the parameter space is 1-dimensional, we use this description to prove that the solution functor as well as the relative Riemann-Hilbert functor are $t$-exact with respect to the dual $t$-structure …
Consider the obvious functor from the unbounded derived category of all finitely generated modules over a left noetherian ring $R$ to the unbounded derived category of all modules. We answer the natural question whether this functor defines an equivalence onto the full subcategory of complexes with finitely generated cohomology modules in two special cases. If $R$ is a quasi-Frobenius ring of infinite global dimension, then this functor is not full. If $R$ has finite left global dimension, this functor is an equivalence. We also prove variants of the latter assertion for left coherent rings, f…
Motivated by calculations of motivic homotopy groups, we give widely attained conditions under which operadic algebras and modules thereof are preserved under (co)localization functors
In a previous paper, the third author proved that finite-degree polynomial functors over infinite fields are topologically Noetherian. In this paper, we prove that the same holds for polynomial functors from free $R$-modules to finitely generated $R$-modules, for any commutative ring $R$ whose spectrum is Noetherian. As Erman-Sam-Snowden pointed out, when applying this with $R = \mathbb{Z}$ to direct sums of symmetric powers, one of their proofs of a conjecture by Stillman becomes characteristic-independent. Our paper advertises and further develops the beautiful but not so well-known machiner…
We show that several properties of the theory of Rees algebras of modules become more transparent using the category of coherent functors rather than working directly with modules. In particular, we show that the Rees algebra is induced by a canonical map of coherent functors.
Reflexive functors of modules naturally appear in Algebraic Geometry. In this paper we define a wide and elementary family of reflexive functors of modules, closed by tensor products and homomorphisms, in which Algebraic Geometry can be developed.
Reflexive functors of modules naturally appear in Algebraic Geometry, mainly in the theory of linear representations of group schemes, and in "duality theories". In this paper we study and determine reflexive functors and we give many properties of reflexive functors.
Suppose we are given complex manifolds $X$ and $Y$ together with substacks $\mathcal{S}$ and $\mathcal{S}'$ of modules over algebras of formal deformation $\mathcal{A}$ on $X$ and $\mathcal{A}'$ on $Y$, respectively. Suppose also we are given a functor $Φ$ from the category of open subsets of $X$ to the category of open subsets of $Y$ together with a functor $F$ of prestacks from $\mathcal{S}$ to $\mathcal{S}'\circΦ$. Then we give conditions for the existence of a canonical functor, extension of $F$ to the category of coherent ${\sha}$-modules such that the cohomology associated to the action …
For a morphism of smooth schemes over a regular affine base we define functors of derived direct image and extraordinary inverse image on coderived categories of DG-modules over de Rham DG-algebras. Positselski proved that for a smooth algebraic variety $X$ over a field $k$ of characteristic zero the coderived category of DG-modules over $Ω^\bullet_{X/k}$ is equivalent to the unbounded derived category of quasi-coherent right ${\mathscr D}_X$-modules. We prove that our functors correspond to the functors of the same name for ${\mathscr D}_X$-modules under Positselski equivalence.
We study Translation functors and Wall-Crossing functors on infinite dimensional representations of a complex semisimple Lie algebra using D-modules. This functorial machinery is then used to prove the Endomorphism-theorem and the Structure-theorem, two important results established earlier by W. Soergel in a totally different way. Other applications to the category O of Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand are given, and some conjectural relationships between Koszul duality, Verdier duality and convolution functors are discussed. A geometric interpretation of tilting modules is given.
Given a DG-category A we introduce the bar category of modules Modbar(A). It is a DG-enhancement of the derived category D(A) of A which is isomorphic to the category of DG A-modules with A-infinity morphisms between them. However, it is defined intrinsically in the language of DG-categories and requires no complex machinery or sign conventions of A-infinity categories. We define for these bar categories Tensor and Hom bifunctors, dualisation functors, and a convolution of twisted complexes. The intended application is to working with DG-bimodules as enhancements of exact functors between tria…
Let $R$ be a commutative Noetherian ring, $\fa$ an ideal of $R$ and $M$ a finitely generated $R$--module. Let $t$ be a non-negative integer such that $\H^i_\fa(M)$ is $\fa$--cofinite for all $i<t$. It is well--known that $\Hom_R(R/\fa,\H^t_\fa(M))$ is finitely generated $R$--module. In this paper we study the finiteness of $\Ext^1_R(R/\fa,\H^t_\fa(M))$ and $\Ext^2_R(R/\fa,\H^t_\fa(M))$.
Let $R$ be a commutative Noetherian ring with non-zero identity, $\fa$ an ideal of $R$, and $X$ an $R$--module. In this paper, for fixed integers $s, t$ and a finite $\fa$--torsion $R$--module $N$, we first study the membership of $\Ext^{s+t}_{R}(N, X)$ and $\Ext^{s}_{R}(N, H^{t}_{\fa}(X))$ in Serre subcategories of the category of $R$--modules. Then we present some conditions which ensure the existence of an isomorphism between them. Finally, we introduce the concept of Serre cofiniteness as a generalization of cofiniteness and study this property for certain local cohomology modules.
Let $R$ be a commutative Noetherian ring. We introduce the notion of localization functors $λ^W$ with cosupports in arbitrary subsets $W$ of $\text{Spec}\, R$; it is a common generalization of localizations with respect to multiplicatively closed subsets and left derived functors of ideal-adic completion functors. We prove several results about the localization functors $λ^W$, including an explicit way to calculate $λ^W$ by the notion of Cech complexes. As an application, we can give a simpler proof of a classical theorem by Gruson and Raynaud, which states that the projective dimension of a f…
Let $G= {\rm Spec} A$ be an affine $R$-monoid scheme. We prove that the category of dual functors (over the category of commutative $R$-algebras) of $G$-modules is equivalent to the category of dual functors of ${\mathcal A}^*$-modules. We prove that $G$ is invariant exact if and only if $A^*= R \times B^*$ as $R$-algebras and the first projection $A^* \to R$ is the unit of $A$. If $\mathbb M$ is a dual functor of $G$-modules and $w_G := (1,0) \in R \times B^* = A^*$, we prove that $\mathbb M^G = w_G \cdot \mathbb M$ and $\mathbb F = w_G \cdot \mathbb M \oplus (1-w_G) \cdot \mathbb M$; hence, …
We introduce the notion of regularity for a relative holonomic $\mathcal D$-module in the sense of arXiv:1204.1331. We prove that the solution functor from the bounded derived category of regular relative holonomic modules to that of relative constructible complexes is essentially surjective by constructing a right quasi-inverse functor. When restricted to relative $\mathcal D$-modules underlying a regular mixed twistor $\mathcal D$-module, this functor satisfies the left quasi-inverse property.
