We study the quantum mechanics of a system with inverse square potential in noncommutative space. Both the coordinates and momentums are considered to be noncommutative, which breaks the original so(2,1) symmetry. The energy levels and eigenfunctions are obtained. The generators of the so(2,1) algebra are also studied in noncommutative phase space and the commutators are calculated, which shows that the so(2,1) algebra obtained in noncommutative space is not closed. However the commutative limit Θ,\barΘ\to 0 for the algebra smoothly goes to the standard so(2,1) algebra.
In this publication we will implement the inverse Seesaw mechanism into the noncommutative framework on the basis of the AC-extension of the Standard Model. The main difference to the classical AC model is the chiral nature of the AC fermions with respect to a U(1) extension of the Standard Model gauge group. It is this extension which allows us to couple the right-handed neutrinos via a gauge invariant mass term to left-handed A-particles. The natural scale of these gauge invariant masses is of the order of 10^17 GeV while the Dirac masses of the neutrino and the AC-particles are generated dy…
Coherent states are required to form a complete set of vectors in the Hilbert space by providing the resolution of identity. We study the completeness of coherent states for two different models in a noncommutative space associated with the generalised uncertainty relation by finding the resolution of unity with a positive definite weight function. The weight function, which is sometimes known as the Borel measure, is obtained through explicit analytic solutions of the Stieltjes and Hausdorff moment problem with the help of the standard techniques of inverse Mellin transform.
A recent conjecture of Morita predicts a lower bound in temperature $T$ of a chaotic system, $T\geq (\hbar/2π)Λ$, $Λ$ being the Lyapunov exponent, which was demonstrated for a one dimensional inverse harmonic oscillator. In the present work we discuss the robustness of this demonstration in an extended version of the above model, where the inverse harmonic oscillator lives a in two dimensional noncommutative space. We show that, without noncommutativity, Morita's conjecture survives in an essentially unchanged way in two dimensions. However, if noncommutativity is switched on, the noncommutati…
We present a new example of a finite-dimensional noncommutative manifold, namely the noncommutative cylinder. It is obtained by isospectral deformation of the canonical triple associated to the Euclidean cylinder. We discuss Connes' character formula for the cylinder. In the second part, we discuss noncommutative Lorentzian manifolds. Here, the definition of spectral triples involves Krein spaces and operators on Krein spaces. A central role is played by the admissible fundamental symmetries on the Krein space of square integrable sections of a spin bundle over a Lorentzian manifold. Finally, …
We examine Chern-Simons theory written on a noncommutative plane with a `hole', and show that the algebra of observables is a nonlinear deformation of the $w_\infty$ algebra. The deformation depends on the level (the coefficient in the Chern-Simons action), and the noncommutativity parameter, which were identified, respectively, with the inverse filling fraction and the inverse density in a recent description of the fractional quantum Hall effect. We remark on the quantization of our algebra. The results are sensitive to the choice of ordering in the Gauss law.
A superpotential algebra is square if its quiver admits an embedding into a two-torus such that the image of its underlying graph is a square grid, possibly with diagonal edges in the unit squares; examples are provided by dimer models in physics. Such an embedding reveals much of the algebras representation theory through a device we introduce called an impression. Let A be a square superpotential algebra, Z its center, and \mathfrak{m} the maximal ideal at the origin of Spec(Z). Using an impression, we give a classification of all simple A-modules up to isomorphism, and give algebraic and ho…
A system of $N$ non-canonical dynamically free 3D harmonic oscillators is studied. The position and the momentum operators (PM-operators) of the system do not satisfy the canonical commutation relations (CCRs). Instead they obey the weaker postulates for the oscillator to be a Wigner quantum system. In particular the PM-operators fulfil the main postulate, which is due to Wigner: they satisfy the equations of motion (the Hamiltonian's equations) and the Heisenberg equations. One of the relevant features is that the coordinate (the momentum) operators do not commute, but instead their squares d…
We consider the quantum mechanics of a particle on a noncommutative plane. The case of a charged particle in a magnetic field (the Landau problem) with a harmonic oscillator potential is solved. There is a critical point, where the density of states becomes infinite, for the value of the magnetic field equal to the inverse of the noncommutativity parameter. The Landau problem on the noncommutative two-sphere is also solved and compared to the plane problem.
Several classes of *-algebras associated to the action of an affine transformation are considered, and an investigation of the interplay between the different classes of algebras is initiated. Connections are established that relate representations of *-algebras, geometry of algebraic surfaces, dynamics of affine transformations, graphs and algebras coming from a quantization procedure of Poisson structures. In particular, algebras related to surfaces being inverse images of fourth order polynomials (in R^3) are studied in detail, and a close link between representation theory and geometric pr…
We consider the probabilistic description of nonrelativistic, spinless one-particle classical mechanics, and immerse the particle in a deformed noncommutative phase space in which position coordinates do not commute among themselves and also with canonically conjugate momenta. With a postulated normalized distribution function in the quantum domain, the square of the Dirac delta density distribution in the classical case is properly realised in noncommutative phase space and it serves as the quantum condition. With only these inputs, we pull out the entire formalisms of noncommutative quantum …
We study the spectral geometry of the quantum projective plane CP^2_q, a deformation of the complex projective plane CP^2, the simplest example of a spin^c manifold which is not spin. In particular, we construct a Dirac operator D which gives a 0^+ summable spectral triple, equivariant under U_q(su(3)). The square of D is a central element for which left and right actions on spinors coincide, a fact that is exploited to compute explicitly its spectrum.
We study noncommutative field theories, which are inherently nonlocal, using a Poincaré-invariant regularisation scheme which yields an effective, nonlocal theory for energies below a cut-off scale. After discussing the general features and the peculiar advantages of this regularisation scheme for theories defined in noncommutative spaces, we focus our attention onto the particular case when the noncommutativity parameter is inversely proportional to the square of the cut-off, via a dimensionless parameter $η$. We work out the perturbative corrections at one-loop order for a scalar theory with…
We investigate the noncommutative analogue of the spontaneously broken linear sigma model at the one-loop quantum level. In the commutative case, renormalization of a theory with a spontaneously broken continuous global symmetry depends on cancellations that enable the limited set of counterterms consistent with that symmetry to remove the divergences even after its spontaneous breaking, while preserving the masslessness of the associated Goldstone modes. In the noncommutative case, we find that these cancellations are violated, and the renormalized one-loop correction to the inverse pion prop…
We find condition on the parameters of noncommutativity on which a list of important results can be obtained in a space with Lie-algebraic noncommutativity. Namely, we show that the weak equivalence principle is recovered in the space, the Poisson brackets for coordinates and momenta of the center-of-mass of a composite system do not depend on its composition and reproduce relations of noncommutative algebra for coordinates and momenta of individual particles if parameters of noncommutativity corresponding to a particle are proportional inversely to its mass. In addition in particular case of …
The abelian Higgs model on the noncommutative plane admits both BPS vortices and non-BPS fluxons. After reviewing the properties of these solitons, we discuss several new aspects of the former. We solve the Bogomoln'yi equations perturbatively, to all orders in the inverse noncommutivity parameter, and show that the metric on the moduli space of k vortices reduces to the computation of the trace of a k-dimensional matrix. In the limit of large noncommutivity, we present an explicit expression for this metric.
Open Wilson lines are known to be the observables of noncommutative gauge theory with Moyal-Weyl star product. We generalize these objects to more general star products. As an application we derive a formula for the inverse Seiberg-Witten map for star products with invertible Poisson structures.
Observing that the Hamiltonian of the renormalisable scalar field theory on 4-dimensional Moyal space A is the square of a Dirac operator D of spectral dimension 8, we complete (A,D) to a compact 8-dimensional spectral triple. We add another Connes-Lott copy and compute the spectral action of the corresponding U(1)-Yang-Mills-Higgs model. We find that in the Higgs potential the square ϕ^2 of the Higgs field is shifted to ϕ* ϕ+ const X_μ* X^μ, where X_μis the covariant coordinate. The classical field equations of our model imply that the vacuum is no longer given by a constant Higgs field, but …
Recently, we found the supersymmetric counterpart of the spectral triple. When we restrict the representation space to the fermionic functions of matter fields, the counterpart which we name "the triple" reduces to the original spectral triple which defines noncommutative geometry. We see that the fluctuation to the supersymmetric Dirac operator induced by algebra in the triple generates vector supermultiplet which mediates gauge interaction. Following the supersymmetric version of spectral action principle, we calculate the heat kernel expansion of the square of fluctuated Dirac operator and …
There ought to exist a reformulation of quantum mechanics which does not refer to an external classical spacetime manifold. Such a reformulation can be achieved using the language of noncommutative differential geometry. A consequence which follows is that the `weakly quantum, strongly gravitational' dynamics of a relativistic particle whose mass is much greater than Planck mass is dual to the `strongly quantum, weakly gravitational' dynamics of another particle whose mass is much less than Planck mass. The masses of the two particles are inversely related to each other, and the product of the…
A representation of general translation-invariant star products in the algebra of M(C) = lim_N\to \infty M_N (C) is introduced which results in the Moyal-Weyl-Wigner quantization. It provides a matrix model for general translation-invariant noncommutative quantum field theories in terms of the noncommutative calculus on differential graded algebras. Upon this machinery a cohomology theory, the so called star-cohomology, with groups H^k_*(C), is worked out which provides a cohomological framework to formulate general translation-invariant noncommutative quantum field theories based on the achie…
The purpose of this article is to apply the concept of the spectral triple, the starting point for the analysis of noncommutative spaces in the sense of A.~Connes, to the case where the algebra $\cA$ contains both bosonic and fermionic degrees of freedom. The operator $\cD$ of the spectral triple under consideration is the square root of the Dirac operator und thus the forms of the generalized differential algebra constructed out of the spectral triple are in a representation of the Lorentz group with integer spin if the form degree is even and they are in a representation with half-integer sp…
We extend naturally the spectral triple which define noncommutative geometry (NCG) in order to incorporate supersymmetry and obtain supersymmetric Dirac operator D_M which acts on Minkowskian manifold. Inversely, we can consider the projection which reducts D_M to $\not{D}$, the Dirac operator of the original spectral triple. We investigate properties of the Dirac operator, some of which are inherited from the original Dirac operator. Z/2 grading and real structure are also supersymmetrically extended. Using supersymmetric invariant product, the kinematic terms of chiral and antichiral supermu…
Two years ago, we found the supersymmetric counterpart of the spectral triple which specified noncommutative geometry. Based on the triple, we derived gauge vector supermultiplets, Higgs supermultiplets of the minimum supersymmetric standard model and its action. However, unlike the famous theories of Connes and his co-workers, the action does not couple to gravity. In this paper, we obtain the supersymmetric Dirac operator $\mathcal{D}_M^{(SG)}$ on the Riemann-Cartan curved space replacing derivatives which appear in that of the triple with the covariant derivatives of general coordinate tran…
Partial Isometries are important constructs that help give nontrivial solutions once a simple solution is known. We generalize this notion to Extended Partial Isometries and include operators which have right inverses but no left inverses (or vice versa). We find a large class of such operators and conjecture the moduli space to be the Hilbert Scheme of Points. Further, we apply this technique to find instanton solutions of a noncommutative N=1 supersymmetric gauge theory in six dimensions and show that this construction yields nontrivial solutions for other noncommutative gauge theories. The …
We construct normalizable, semi-classical states for the previously proposed model of quantum gravity which is formulated as a spectral triple over holonomy loops. The semi-classical limit of the spectral triple gives the Dirac Hamiltonian in 3+1 dimensions. Also, time-independent lapse and shift fields emerge from the semi-classical states. Our analysis shows that the model might contain fermionic matter degrees of freedom. The semi-classical analysis presented in this paper does away with most of the ambiguities found in the initial semi-finite spectral triple construction. The cubic lattice…
