We obtain a new, exact, solution of the Einstein's equation in higher dimensions. The source is given by a static spherically symmetric, Gaussian distribution of mass and charge. De-localization of mass and charge is due to the presence of a "minimal length" in the spacetime fabric, coming from quantum gravitational effects, e.g. string induced non-commutative geometry. The resulting metric describes a regular, i.e. curvature singularity free, charged black hole in higher dimensions. The metric smoothly interpolates between Reissner-Nordstrom geometry at large distance, and deSitter spacetime at short distance. Thermodynamical properties of the black hole are investigated and the form of the Area Law is determined. We show that back reaction effects are negligible even near the temperature maximum for any reasonable number of extra dimensions. We study pair creation and show that the upper bound on the discharge time increases with the number of extra dimensions.
In models inspired by non-commutative geometry, patterns of gauge symmetry breaking are analyzed, and SU(5) models are found to naturally favor a vacuum preserving SU(3) X SU(2) X U(1). A more realistic model is presented, and the possibility of D-brane interpretation is discussed.
Using a noncommutative inspired anti-de Sitter-Einstein-Born-Infeld black hole with both non-commutative mass and charge distributions, we analyse a holographic superconductor in the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence. We show that the coupling of the Born-Infeld parameter and the noncommutative perturbations provides an enhancing mechanism for higher values of the expectation value of the condensate and that noncommutativity counter-balances nonlinearity of the electrodynamics to keep the ratio $ω_g/T_c \approx 8$.
This article is based on the study of wormhole geometries in the context of symmetric teleparallel gravity or $f(Q)$ gravity, where $Q$ is the non-metricity scalar, and it is responsible for the gravitational interaction. To discuss the wormhole solutions, we consider spherically symmetric static spacetime metric with anisotropic matter contents under well-known non-commutative distributions known as Gaussian and Lorentzian distributions with an extra condition of permitting conformal killing vectors (CKV). This work aims to obtain wormhole solutions under these distributions, and through we f…
In analogy to Wong's equations describing the motion of a charged relativistic point particle in the presence of an external Yang-Mills field, we discuss the motion of such a particle in non-commutative space subject to an external $U_\star(1)$ gauge field. We conclude that the latter equations are only consistent in the case of a constant field strength. This formulation, which is based on an action written in Moyal space, provides a coarser level of description than full QED on non-commutative space. The results are compared with those obtained from the different Hamiltonian approaches. Furt…
We find a new charged black hole in three-dimensional anti-de Sitter space using an anisotropic perfect fluid inspired by the noncommutative black hole as the source of matter and a gaussian distribution of electric charge. We deduce the thermodynamical quantities of this black hole and compare them with those of a charged BTZ solution.
We consider noncommutative gravity on a space with canonical noncommutativity that is based on the commutative MacDowell-Mansouri action. Gravity is treated as gauge theory of the noncommutative $SO(1,3)_\star$ group and the Seiberg-Witten (SW) map is used to express noncommutative fields in terms of the corresponding commutative fields. In the commutative limit the noncommutative action reduces to the Einstein-Hilbert action plus the cosmological term and the topological Gauss-Bonnet term. After the SW expansion in the noncommutative parameter the first order correction to the action, as expe…
We consider GUT models inspired by recent local F-theory constructions. We show that after switching on vevs to scalars the extra matter becomes messengers. We discuss conditions on these vevs under which the models do not lead to unacceptable baryon/lepton number violating processes.
An operator formalism is developed for a description of charged electron-hole complexes in magnetic fields. A novel unitary transformation of the Hamiltonian that allows one to partially separate the center-of-mass and internal motions is proposed. We study the operator algebra that leads to the appearance of new effective particles, electrons and holes with modified interparticle interactions, and their coherent states in magnetic fields. The developed formalism is used for studying a two-dimensional negatively charged magnetoexciton $X^-$. It is shown that Fano-resonances are present in the …
We investigate gravitational collapses of charged black holes in string-inspired gravity models, including dilaton gravity and braneworld model, as well as f(R) gravity and the ghost limit. If we turn on gauge coupling, the causal structures and the responses of the Brans-Dicke field depend on the coupling between the charged matter and the Brans-Dicke field. For Type IIA inspired models, a Cauchy horizon exists, while there is no Cauchy horizon for Type I or Heterotic inspired models. For Type IIA inspired models, the no-hair theorem is satisfied asymptotically, while it is biased to the weak…
In this study, we investigate the effects of noncommutative Quantum Mechanics in three dimensions on the energy levels of a charged isotropic harmonic oscillator in the presence of a uniform magnetic field in the z-direction. The extension of this problem to three dimensions proves to be non-trivial. We obtain the first-order corrections to the energy-levels in closed form in the low energy limit of weak noncommutativity. The most important result we can note is that all energy corrections due to noncommutativity are negative and their magnitude increase with increasing Quantum numbers and mag…
We find a new, non-commutative geometry inspired, solution of the coupled Einstein-Maxwell field equations describing a variety of charged, self-gravitating objects, including extremal and non-extremal black holes. The metric smoothly interpolates between deSitter geometry, at short distance, and Reissner-Nordstroem geometry far away from the origin. Contrary to the ordinary Reissner-Nordstroem spacetime there is no curvature singularity in the origin neither "naked" nor shielded by horizons. We investigate both the Hawking process and pair creation in this new scenario.
We construct an axially symmetric solution of Eddington-inspired Born-Infeld gravity coupled to an electromagnetic field in 2+1 dimensions including a (negative) cosmological constant term. This is achieved by using a recently developed mapping procedure that allows to generate solutions in certain families of metric-affine gravity theories starting from a known seed solution of General Relativity, which in the present case corresponds to the electrically charged Banados-Teitelboim-Zanelli (BTZ) solution. We discuss the main features of the new configurations, including the modifications to th…
We consider a string-inspired, gravitational theory of scalar and electromagnetic fields and we investigate the existence of axially-symmetric, Gödel-type cosmological solutions. The neutral case is studied first and an "extreme" Gödel-type rotating solution, that respects the causality, is determined. The charged case is considered next and two new configurations for the, minimally-coupled to gravity, electromagnetic field are presented. Another configuration motivated by the expected distribution of currents and charges in a rotating universe is studied and shown to lead to a Gödel-type solu…
We present a new non-abelian generalization of the Born-Infeld Lagrangian. It is based on the observation that the basic quantity defining it is the generalized volume element, computed as the determinant of a linear combination of metric and Maxwell tensors. We propose to extend the notion of determinant to the tensor product of space-time and a matrix representation of the gauge group. We compute such a Lagrangian explicitly in the case of the SU(2) gauge group and then explore the properties of static, spherically symmetric solutions in this model. We have found a one-parameter family of fi…
We study static (electrically)-charged solutions of Eddington-inspired Born-Infeld (EiBI) theory of gravity in general $D$-dimensional spacetime. We consider both linear (Maxwell) as well as nonlinear electrodynamics for the matter fields. In this particular work, the nonlinear theory we specifically consider is the Born-Infeld electrodynamics. The solutions describe higher-dimensional black holes in EiBI gravity. For the linear Maxwell field, we show that the electric field is still singular for $D>4$. This singularity is cured when EiBI is coupled to the BI electrodynamics. We obtain EiBI-BI…
We investigate the relation between the existence of mass inflation and model parameters of string-inspired gravity models. In order to cover various models, we investigate a Brans-Dicke theory that is coupled to a U(1) gauge field. By tuning a model parameter that decides the coupling between the Brans-Dicke field and the electromagnetic field, we can make both of models such that the Brans-Dicke field is biased toward strong or weak coupling directions after gravitational collapses. We observe that as long as the Brans-Dicke field is biased toward any (strong or weak) directions, there is no…
Twisted Eguchi-Kawai reduced chiral models are shown to be formally equivalent to a U(1) non-commutative parent theory. The non-commutative theory describes the vacuum dynamics of the non-commutative charged tachyonic field of a brane system. To make contact with the continuum non-commutative theory, a double scaling large N limit for the reduced model is required. We show a possible limiting procedure, which we propose to investigate numerically. Our numerical results show substantial consistency with the outlined procedure
The effect of non-commutativity on electromagnetic waves violates Lorentz invariance: in the presence of a background magnetic induction field b, the velocity for propagation transverse to b differs from c, while propagation along b is unchanged. In principle, this allows a test by the Michelson-Morley interference method. We also study non-commutativity in another context, by constructing the theory describing a charged fluid in a strong magnetic field, which forces the fluid particles into their lowest Landau level and renders the fluid dynamics non-commutative, with a Moyal product determin…
Bohr-van Leeuwen theorem has been studied in non-commutative space where the space coordinates do not commute. It has been found that in non-commutative space Bohr-van Leeuwen theorem, in general, is not satisfied and a classical treatment of the partition function of charged particles in a magnetic field gives rise to non zero magnetization.
Due to the asymptotic structure of the black hole solution, there are two different thermodynamic schemes for the charged Banados-Teitelboim-Zanelli (BTZ) black hole. In one scheme, the charged BTZ black hole is super-entropic, while in the other, it is not (the reverse isoperimetric inequality is saturated). In this paper, we investigate the thermodynamic curvature of the charged BTZ black hole in different coordinate spaces. We find that in both schemes, the thermodynamic curvature is always positive, which may be related to the information of repulsive interaction between black hole molecul…
In this Letter we have explicitly constructed Generalized Coherent States for the Non-Commutative Harmonic Oscillator that directly satisfy the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP). Our results have a smooth commutative limit. The states show fractional revival which provides an independent bound on the GUP parameter. Using this and similar bounds we derive the largest possible value of the (GUP induced) minimum length scale. Mandel parameter analysis shows that the statistics is Sub-Poissionian.
We study strong coupling phenomena in U(1) gauge theory on the non-commutative plane. To do so, we make use of a T-dual description in terms of an $N\to\infty$ limit of U(N) gauge theory on a commutative torus. The magnetic flux on this torus is taken to be $m=N-1$, while the area scales like 1/N, keeping $Λ_{QCD}$ fixed. With a few assumptions, we argue that the speed of high frequency light in pure non-commutative QED is modified in the non-commutative directions by the factor $1 + Λ_{QCD}^4 θ^2$, where $θ$ is the non-commutative parameter. If charged flavours are included, there is an upper…
We consider black hole interiors of arbitrary genus number within the paradigm of non-commutative geometry. The study is performed in two ways: One way is a simple smearing of a matter distribution within the black hole. The resulting structure is often known in the literature as a "model inspired by non-commutative geometry". The second method involves a more fundamental approach, in which the Hamiltonian formalism is utilized and a non-trivial Poisson bracket is introduced between the configuration degrees of freedom, as well as between the canonical momentum degrees of freedom. This is done…
Massive charged and uncharged particles tunneling from commutative Reissner-Nordstrom black hole horizon has been studied with details in literature. Here, by adopting the coherent state picture of spacetime noncommutativity, we study tunneling of massive and charged particles from a noncommutative inspired Reissner-Nordstrom black hole horizon. We show that Hawking radiation in this case is not purely thermal and there are correlations between emitted modes. These correlations may provide a solution to the information loss problem. We also study thermodynamics of noncommutative horizon in thi…
We show that the high temperature behavior of non-commutative QED may be simply obtained from Boltzmann transport equations for classical particles. The transport equation for the charge neutral particle is shown to be characteristically different from that for the charged particle. These equations correctly generate, for arbitrary values of the non-commutative parameter theta, the leading, gauge independent hard thermal loops, arising from the fermion and the gauge sectors. We briefly discuss the generating functional of hard thermal amplitudes.
The Eddington-inspired Born-Infeld (EiBI) gravity is a modification of the theory of general relativity inspired by the nonlinear Born-Infeld electrodynamics. The theory is described by a series of higher curvature terms added to the Einstein-Hilbert action with the parameter $κ$. The EiBI gravity has several interesting exact neutral and charged black hole solutions. We study the problem of overcharging extremal black hole solutions of EiBI gravity using a charged test particle to create naked singularity. We show that unlike general relativity, the overcharging could be possible for a charge…
We consider the Standard Model on a non-commutative space and expand the action in the non-commutativity parameter theta. No new particles are introduced, the structure group is SU(3) x SU(2) x U(1). We derive the leading order action. At zeroth order the action coincides with the ordinary Standard Model. At leading order in theta we find new vertices which are absent in the Standard Model on commutative space-time. The most striking features are couplings between quarks, gluons and electroweak bosons and many new vertices in the charged and neutral currents. We find that parity is violated in…
Non-commutative geometries have been proposed as an approach to quantum gravity and have led to the construction of non-commutative black holes, whose interior singularities are purportedly eliminated due to quantum effects. Here we find evidence that these black holes are in fact unstable, with infalling matter near the Cauchy (inner) horizon being subject to an infinite blueshift of the type that has been repeatedly demonstrated for the Reissner-Nordstr\(\ddot{\text{o}}\)m black hole. This instability is present even when an ultraviolet cutoff (induced by anticipated non-commutative geometri…
Inspired by the renormalizability of the non-commutative Phi^4 model with added oscillator term, we formulate a non-commutative gauge theory, where the oscillator enters as a gauge fixing term in a BRST invariant manner. All propagators turn out to be essentially given by the Mehler kernel and the bilinear part of the action is invariant under the Langmann-Szabo duality. The model is a promising candidate for a renormalizable non-commutative U(1) gauge theory.
Using a noncommutative inspired Einstein-Euler-Heisenberg black hole, we analyse the associated graviton and light rings that together with the event horizon, provide the necessary components to build its shadow. An analysis of the angular radius of the noncommutative inspired Einstein-Euler-Heisenberg black hole shows that for observers located in its vicinity, it becomes smaller when compared with the commutative case; this effect is more noticeable as noncommutativity increases. The existence of marginally stable bound orbits and the critical angle for the escaping of photons of a noncommut…
We discuss gauge theories for commutative but non-associative algebras related to the $ SO(2k+1)$ covariant finite dimensional fuzzy $2k$-sphere algebras. A consequence of non-associativity is that gauge fields and gauge parameters have to be generalized to be functions of coordinates as well as derivatives. The usual gauge fields depending on coordinates only are recovered after a partial gauge fixing. The deformation parameter for these commutative but non-associative algebras is a scalar of the rotation group. This suggests interesting string-inspired algebraic deformations of spacetime whic…
We propose a manifestly Lorentz covariant, non-commutative Dirac equation for charged particles interacting with an electromagnetic field. The equation is formulated on the operator level, but operators are not composed through the normal operator product, but a modified product that restores the Lorentz covariance. This equation is solved for the free particle and a particle moving in a constant magnetic field. An abstract action, constructed on the operator level, that yields this equation as equation of motion is also derived. To relate this formalism to current formulations of non-commutat…
We show that the classic results of Schwinger on the exact propagation of particles in the background of constant field-strengths and plane waves can be readily extended to the case of non-commutative QED. It is shown that non-perturbative effects on constant backgrounds are the same as their commutative counterparts, provided the on-shell gauge invariant dynamics is referred to a non-perturbatively related space-time frame. For the case of the plane wave background, we find evidence of the effective extended nature of non-commutative particles, producing retarded and advanced effects in scatt…
In this article, we define a non-commutative deformation of the "symplectic invariants" of an algebraic hyperelliptical plane curve. The necessary condition for our definition to make sense is a Bethe ansatz. The commutative limit reduces to the symplectic invariants, i.e. algebraic geometry, and thus we define non-commutative deformations of some algebraic geometry quantities. In particular our non-commutative Bergmann kernel satisfies a Rauch variational formula. Those non-commutative invariants are inspired from the large N expansion of formal non-hermitian matrix models. Thus they are expe…
We investigate non-commutativity of open strings, attached to a D$p$-brane, in the presence of the linear dilaton, tachyon, U(1) gauge field as well as constant anti-symmetric $B$-field backgrounds. Non-commutativity parameter, open string metric and some special cases will be studied. Mode-dependent non-commutativity, inspired by the tachyon field, will be discussed in detail.
We study space-time noncommutativity applied to the hydrogen atom and the phenomenological aspects induced. We find that the noncommutative effects are similar to those obtained by considering the extended charged nature of the proton in the atom. To the first order in the noncommutative parameter, it is equivalent to an electron in the fields of a Coulomb potential and an electric dipole and this allows us to get a bound for the parameter. In a second step, we compute noncommutative corrections of the energy levels and find that they are at the second order in the parameter of noncommutativit…
We investigate the fermionic sector of a given theory, in which massive and charged Dirac fermions interact with an Abelian gauge field, including a non standard contribution that violates both Lorentz and CPT symmetries. We offer an explicit calculation in which the radiative corrections due to the fermions seem to generate a Chern-Simons-like effective action. Our results are obtained under the general guidance of dimensional regularization, and they show that there is no room for Lorentz and CPT violation in both commutative and noncommutative spacetime.
A new theory of gravity called Eddington-inspired Born-Infeld (EiBI) gravity was recently proposed by Bañados and Ferreira. This theory leads to some exciting new features, such as free of cosmological singularities. In this paper, we first obtain a charged EiBI black hole solution with a nonvanishing cosmological constant when the electromagnetic field is included in. Then based on it, we study the strong gravitational lensing by the asymptotic flat charged EiBI black hole. The strong deflection limit coefficients and observables are shown to closely depend on the additional coupling paramete…
The Born-Infeld lagrangian for non-abelian gauge theory is adapted to the case of the generalized gauge fields arising in non-commutative matrix geometry. Basic properties of static and time dependent solutions of the scalar sector of this model are investigated.
We consider string inspired models in $D=10$ spacetime dimensions, which include couplings with 1- and 3-form fields as well as $R^4$ higher curvature corrections to the gravitational action. For such models, we explicitly construct a family of black hole solutions with both electric and magnetic charges, and with different horizon topologies. The solutions exhibit some features similar to those of self-gravitating monopoles in Einstein-Yang-Mills theory, which we discuss. When higher-curvature corrections are switched off, our solutions reduce to charged $p$-brane solutions previously studied…
Noncommutative generalizations of Yang-Mills theories using Seiberg-Witten map are in general not unique. We study these ambiguities and see that SO(10) GUT, at first order in the noncommutativity parameter θ, is unique and therefore is a truly unified theory, while SU(5) is not. We then present the noncommutative Standard Model compatible with SO(10) GUT. We next study the reality, hermiticity and C,P,T properties of the Seiberg-Witten map and of these noncommutative actions at all orders in θ. This allows to compare the Standard Model discussed in [5] with the present GUT inspired one.
We propose an inflationary scenario inspired by a recent formulation, in terms of coherent states, of non-commutative quantum field theory. We consider the semiclassical Einstein equations, and we exploit the ultraviolet finiteness of the non-commutative propagator to construct the expectation value of the energy momentum tensor associated to a generic scalar field. It turns out that the latter is always finite and dominated by an effective cosmological constant. By combining this general feature with the intrinsic fuzziness of spacetime, we show that non-commutativity governs the energy densi…
Landau system in noncommutative space has been considered. To take into account the issue of gauge invariance in noncommutative space, we incorporate the Seiberg-Witten map in our analysis. Generalised Bopp-shift transformation is then used to map the noncommutative system to its commutative equivalent system. In particular we have computed the partition function of the system and from this we obtained the susceptibility of the Landau system and found that the result gets modified by the spatial noncommutative parameter $θ$. We also investigate the de Hass--van Alphen effect in noncommutative …
The general theory of relativity is currently the accepted theory of gravity and as such, a large repository of test results has been obtained since its inception in 1915. However, in this paper we only focus on what are considered as the main tests but in non-commutative (NC) geometries. Using the coordinate coherent state formalism, we calculate the gravitational redshift, deflection, and time delay of light, separately, for NC inspired Schwarzschild and Riessner-Nordstrom black holes. We show the NC predictions have different behavior than the general relativity. We also provide an upper bo…
We study the holographic complexity of noncommutative field theories. The four-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=4$ noncommutative super Yang-Mills theory with Moyal algebra along two of the spatial directions has a well known holographic dual as a type IIB supergravity theory with a stack of D3 branes and non-trivial NS-NS B fields. We start from this example and find that the late time holographic complexity growth rate, based on the "complexity equals action" conjecture, experiences an enhancement when the non-commutativity is turned on. This enhancement saturates a new limit which is exactly 1/4 la…
We apply the generalization of the Parikh-Wilczek method to the tunneling of massive particles from noncommutative inspired Schwarzschild black holes. By deriving the equation of radial motion of the tunneling particle directly, we calculate the emission rate which is shown to be dependent on the noncommutative parameter besides the energy and mass of the tunneling particle. After equating the emission rate to the Boltzmann factor, we obtain the modified Hawking temperature which relates to the noncommutativity and recovers the standard Hawking temperature in the commutative limit. We also dis…
In this paper we complete the program of the noncomutative geometry inspired black holes, providing the richest possible solution, endowed with mass, charge and angular momentum. After providing a prescription for employing the Newman-Janis algorithm in the case of nonvanishing stress tensors, we find regular axisymmetric charged black holes in the presence of a minimal length. We study also the new thermodynamics and we determine the corresponding higher-dimensional solutions. As a conclusion we make some consideration about possible applications.
We consider modified symmetric teleparallel gravity (STG), in which gravitational Lagrangian is given by the arbitrary function of non-metricity scalar $Q$ to study static and spherically symmetric charged traversable wormhole solutions with non-commutative background geometry. The matter source at the wormhole throat is acknowledged to be anisotropic, and the redshift function has a constant value (thus, our wormhole solution is non-tidal). We study the obtained field equations with the two functional forms of $f(Q)$ STG models, such as linear $f(Q)=αQ+β$ and non-linear $f(Q)=Q+mQ^n$ models u…
We formulate quantum mechanics on SO(3) using a non-commutative dual space representation for the quantum states, inspired by recent work in quantum gravity. The new non-commutative variables have a clear connection to the corresponding classical variables, and our analysis confirms them as the natural phase space variables, both mathematically and physically. In particular, we derive the first order (Hamiltonian) path integral in terms of the non-commutative variables, as a formulation of the transition amplitudes alternative to that based on harmonic analysis. We find that the non-trivial ph…
