The q-character is a strong tool to study finite-dimensional representations of quantum affine algebras. However, the explicit formula of the q-character of a given representation has not been known so far. Frenkel and Mukhin proposed the iterative algorithm which generates the q-character of a given irreducible representation starting from its highest weight monomial. The algorithm is known to work for various classes of representations. In this note, however, we give an example in which the algorithm fails to generate the q-character.
The q-characters were introduced by Frenkel and mReshetikhin to study finite dimensional representations of the untwisted quantum affine algebra for q generic. The $ε$-characters at roots of unity were constructed by Frenkel and Mukhin to study finite dimensional representations of various specializations of the quantum affine algebra at $q^s=1$. In the finite simply laced case Nakajima defined deformations of q-characters called q,t-characters, for q generic and also at roots of unity. The definition is combinatorial but the proof of the existence uses the geometric theory of quiver varieties…
We prove the existence of a homomorphism of vertex algebras, from the vacuum Verma module over the loop algebra of an untwisted affine algebra, whose construction is analogous to that of the Feigin-Frenkel homomorphism from the vacuum Verma module at critical level over an affine algebra.
A class of classical affine W-algebras are shown to be isomorphic as differential algebras to the coordinate rings of double coset spaces of certain prounipotent proalgebraic groups. As an application, integrable Hamiltonian hierarchies associated with them are constructed geometrically, generalizing the corresponding result of Feigin-Frenkel and Enriquez-Frenkel for the principal cases.
When the parameter $q\in\mathbb C^*$ is not a root of unity, simple modules of affine $q$-Schur algebras have been classified in terms of Frenkel--Mukhin's dominant Drinfeld polynomials (\cite[4.6.8]{DDF}). We compute these Drinfeld polynomials associated with the simple modules of an affine $q$-Schur algebra which come from the simple modules of the corresponding $q$-Schur algebra via the evaluation maps.
We prove the Kirillov-Reshetikhin (KR) conjecture in the general case : for all twisted quantum affine algebras we prove that the characters of KR modules solve the twisted Q-system and we get explicit formulas for the character of their tensor products (the untwisted simply-laced case was treated by Najakima, and the untwisted case by the author). The proof is uniform and provides several new developments for the representation theory of twisted quantum affine algebras, including twisted Frenkel-Reshetikhin q-characters (expected by Frenkel-Reshetikhin and Frenkel-Mukhin). We also prove the t…
The normalized characters of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules over a quantum affine algebra have a limit as a formal power series. Mukhin and Young found a conjectural product formula for this limit, which resembles the Weyl denominator formula. We prove this formula except for some cases in type $E_8$ by employing an algebraic relation among these limits, which is a variant of $Q\widetilde{Q}$-relations.
We investigate the structure of the double Ringel-Hall algebras associated with cyclic quivers and its connections with quantum loop algebras of $\mathfrak{gl}_n$, affine quantum Schur algebras and affine Hecke algebras. This includes their Drinfeld-Jimbo type presentation, affine quantum Schur-Weyl reciprocity, representations of affine quantum Schur algebras, and connections with various existing works by Lusztig, Varagnolo-Vasserot, Schiffmann, Hubery, Chari-Pressley, Frenkel-Mukhin, etc. We will also discuss conjectures on a realization of Beilinson-Lusztig-MacPherson type and Lusztig type…
An explicit isomorphism between the $R$-matrix and Drinfeld presentations of the quantum affine algebra in type $A$ was given by Ding and I. Frenkel (1993). We show that this result can be extended to types $B$, $C$ and $D$ and give a detailed construction for type $C$ in this paper. In all classical types the Gauss decomposition of the generator matrix in the $R$-matrix presentation yields the Drinfeld generators. To prove that the resulting map is an isomorphism we follow the work of E. Frenkel and Mukhin (2002) in type $A$ and employ the universal $R$-matrix to construct the inverse map. A …
We describe the realization of the super Reshetikhin-Semenov-Tian-Shansky (RS) algebra in quantum affine superalgebras, thus generalizing the approach of Frenkel-Reshetikhin to the supersymmetric (and twisted) case. The algebraic homomorphism between the super RS algebra and the Drinfeld current realization of quantum affine superalgebras is established by using the Gauss decomposition technique of Ding-Frenkel. As an application, we obtain Drinfeld realization of quantum affine superalgebra $U_q[osp(1|2)^{(1)}]$ and its degeneration -- central extended super Yangian double $DY_\hbar[osp(1|2)^…
In this paper we prove a formula for fusion coefficients of affine Kac-Moody algebras first conjectured by Walton [Wal2], and rediscovered in [Fe]. It is a reformulation of the Frenkel-Zhu affine fusion rule theorem [FZ], written so that it can be seen as a beautiful generalization of the classical Parasarathy-Ranga Rao-Varadarajan tensor product theorem [PRV].
We present an analysis of the cocycle appearing in the vertex operator representation of simply-laced, affine, Kac-Moody algebras. We prove that it can be described in the context of $R$-commutative geometry, where $R$ is a Yang-Baxter operator, as a strong $R$-commutative algebra. We comment on the Hochschild, cyclic and dihedral homology theories that appear in non-commutative geometry and their potential relation to string theory.
We interpret a formula established by Lapid-M\'ınguez on real regular representations of ${\rm GL}_n$ over a local non-archimedean field as a matrix determinant. We use the Lewis Carroll determinant identity to prove new relations between real regular representations. Through quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality, these relations generalize Mukhin-Young's Extended $T$-systems, for representations of the quantum affine algebra $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_k)$, which are themselves generalizations of the celebrated $T$-system relations.
Let $\fg$ be a simple finite-dimensional complex Lie algebra with a Cartan subalgebra $\fh$ and Weyl group $W$. Let $\fg_n$ denote the Lie algebra of $n$-jets on $\fg$. A theorem of Rais and Tauvel and Geoffriau identifies the centre of the category of $\fg_n$-modules with the algebra of functions on the variety of $n$-jets on the affine space $\fh^*/W$. On the other hand, a theorem of Feigin and Frenkel identifies the centre of the category of critical level smooth modules of the corresponding affine Kac-Moody algebra with the algebra of functions on the ind-scheme of opers for the Langlands …
We prove the rank 1 case of a conjecture of Frenkel-Gaitsgory: critical level Kac-Moody representations with regular central characters localize onto the affine Grassmannian. The method uses an analogue in local geometric Langlands of the existence of Whittaker models for most representations of $GL_2$ over a non-Archimedean field.
In this paper we study minimal affinizations of representations of quantum groups (generalizations of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules of quantum affine algebras introduced by Chari). We prove that all minimal affinizations in types A, B, G are special in the sense of monomials. Although this property is not satisfied in general, we also prove an analog property for a large class of minimal affinization in types C, D, F. As an application, the Frenkel-Mukhin algorithm works for these modules. For minimal affinizations of type A, B we prove the thin property (the l-weight spaces are of dimension 1)…
Frenkel-Reshetikhin introduced $q$-characters of finite dimensional representations of quantum affine algebras. We give a combinatorial algorithm to compute them for all simple modules. Our tool is $t$-analogue of the $q$-characters, which is similar to Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials, and our algorithm has a resemblance with their definition.
We propose to generalize Benkart-Frenkel-Kang-Lee's adjoint crystals and describe their crystal structure for type $A\sb{n}\sp{(1)}$, $C\sb{n}\sp{(1)}$ and $D\sb{n+1}\sp{(2)}$.
Nakajima introduced the morphism of q,t-characters for finite dimensional representation of simply-laced quantum affine algebras : it is a t-deformation of the Frenkel-Reshetikhin's morphism of q-characters (sum of monomials in infinite variables). In math.QA/0212257 we generalized the construction of q,t-characters for non simply-laced quantum affine algebras. First in this paper we prove a conjecture of math.QA/0212257 : the monomials of q and q,t-characters of standard representations are the same in non simply-laced cases (the simply-laced cases were treated by Nakajima) and the coefficien…
We develop some basic properties such as $p$-centers of affine vertex algebras and free field vertex algebras in prime characteristic. We show that the Wakimoto-Feigin-Frenkel homomorphism preserves the $p$-centers by providing explicit formulas. This allows us to formulate the notion of baby Wakimoto modules, which in particular provides an interpretation in the context of modular vertex algebras for Mathieu's irreducible character formula of modular affine Lie algebras at the critical level.
In this note we present an explicit realization of the affine vertex algebra $V^{cri}(\frak{gl}(1 \vert 1)) $ inside of the tensor product $F\otimes M$ where $F$ is a fermionic verex algebra and $M$ is a commutative vertex algebra. This immediately gives an alternative description of the center of $V^{cri}(\frak{gl}(1 \vert 1) ) )$ as a subalgebra $M _ 0$ of $M$. We reconstruct the Molev-Mukhin formula for the Hilbert-Poincare series of the center of $V^ {cri}(\frak{gl}(1 \vert 1) )$. Moreover, we construct a family of irreducible $V^{cri}(\frak{gl}(1 \vert 1))$ -modules realized on $F$ and pa…
We discuss some aspects of the deformed W-algebras W_{q,t}[g]. In particular, we derive an explicit formula for the Kac determinant, and discuss the center when t^2 is a primitive k-th root of unity. The relation of the structure of W_{q,t}[g] to the representation ring of the quantum affine algebra U_q(\hat g), as discovered recently by Frenkel and Reshetikhin, is further elucidated in some examples.
Fix an affine Lie algebra $\widehat{\mathfrak{g}}_κ$ with associated principal affine W-algebra $\mathcal{W}_κ$. A basic conjecture of Frenkel--Kac--Wakimoto asserts that Drinfeld--Sokolov reduction sends admissible $\widehat{\mathfrak{g}}_κ$-modules to zero or cohomological shifts of minimal series $\mathcal{W}_κ$-modules. We prove this conjecture and a natural generalization to the spectrally flowed Drinfeld--Sokolov reduction functors. This extends the previous results of Arakawa for the minus reduction.
We consider the algebra isomorphism found by Frenkel and Ding between the RLL and the Drinfeld realizations of $U_q(\widehat{gl(2)})$. After we note that this is not a Hopf algebra isomorphism, we prove that there is a unique Hopf algebra structure for the Drinfeld realization so that this isomorphism becomes a Hopf algebra isomorphism. Though more complicated, this Hopf algebra structure is also closed, just as the one found previously by Drinfeld.
We give a realization of quantum affine Lie algebra $U_q(\hat A_{N-1})$ in terms of anyons defined on a two-dimensional lattice, the deformation parameter $q$ being related to the statistical parameter $ν$ of the anyons by $q = e^{iπν}$. In the limit of the deformation parameter going to one we recover the Feingold-Frenkel fermionic construction of undeformed affine Lie algebra.
We define deformations of W-algebras associated to complex semi-simple Lie algebras by means of quantum Drinfeld-Sokolov reduction procedure for affine quantum groups. We also introduce Wakimoto modules for arbitrary affine quantum groups and construct free field resolutions and screening operators for the deformed W-algebras. We compare our results with earlier definitions of q-W-algebras and of the deformed screening operators due to Awata, Kubo, Odake, Shiraishi (q-alg/9507034, q-alg/9508011, q-alg/9612001), Feigin, E. Frenkel (q-alg/9508009) and E. Frenkel, Reshetikhin (q-alg/9708006). The…
For each simple Lie algebra g consider the corresponding affine vertex algebra V_{crit}(g) at the critical level. The center of this vertex algebra is a commutative associative algebra whose structure was described by a remarkable theorem of Feigin and Frenkel about two decades ago. However, only recently simple formulas for the generators of the center were found for the Lie algebras of type A following Talalaev's discovery of explicit higher Gaudin Hamiltonians. We give explicit formulas for generators of the centers of the affine vertex algebras V_{crit}(g) associated with the simple Lie al…
Two new realizations, denoted $U_{q,x}(\widehat{gl_2})$ and $U(R_{q,x}(\widehat{gl_2}))$ of the trigonometric dynamical quantum affine algebra $U_{q,λ}(\widehat{gl_2})$ are proposed, based on Drinfeld-currents and $RLL$ relations respectively, along with a Heisenberg algebra $\left\{P,Q\right\}$, with $x=q^{2P}$. Here $P$ plays the role of the dynamical variable $λ$ and $Q=\frac{\partial}{\partial P}$. An explicit isomorphism from $U_{q,x}(\widehat{gl_2})$ to $U(R_{q,x}(\widehat{gl_2}))$ is established, which is a dynamical extension of the Ding-Frenkel isomorphism of $U_{q}(\widehat{gl_2})$ w…
We give a realization of the quantum affine Lie algebras $\uqa$ and $\uqc$ in terms of anyons defined on a one-dimensional chain (or on a two-dimensional lattice), the deformation parameter $q$ being related to the statistical parameter $ν$ of the anyons by $q = e^{iπν}$. In the limit of the deformation parameter going to one we recover the Feingold-Frenkel fermionic construction of undeformed affine Lie algebras.
We give explicit formulas for the elements of the center of the completed quantum affine algebra in type $A$ at the critical level which are associated with the fundamental representations. We calculate the images of these elements under a Harish-Chandra-type homomorphism. These images coincide with those in the free field realization of the quantum affine algebra and reproduce generators of the $q$-deformed classical $W$-algebra of Frenkel and Reshetikhin.
We introduce a twisted quantum affine algebra associated to each simply laced finite dimensional simple Lie algebra. This new algebra is a Hopf algebra with a Drinfeld-type comultiplication. We obtain this algebra by considering its vertex representation. The vertex representation quantizes the twisted vertex operators of Lepowsky-Wilson and Frenkel-Lepowsky-Meurman. We also introduce a twisted quantum loop algebra for the Kac-Moody case and give its level one representation.
We prove that the Grothendieck rings of category $\mathcal{C}^{(t)}_Q$ over quantum affine algebras $U_q'(\g^{(t)})$ $(t=1,2)$ associated to each Dynkin quiver $Q$ of finite type $A_{2n-1}$ (resp. $D_{n+1}$) is isomorphic to one of category $\mathcal{C}_{\mQ}$ over the Langlands dual $U_q'({^L}\g^{(2)})$ of $U_q'(\g^{(2)})$ associated to any twisted adapted class $[\mQ]$ of $A_{2n-1}$ (resp. $D_{n+1}$). This results provide partial answers of conjectures of Frenkel-Hernandez on Langlands duality for finite-dimensional representation of quantum affine algebras.
The geometric small property (Borho-MacPherson) of projective morphisms implies a description of their singularities in terms of intersection homology. In this paper we solve the smallness problem raised by Nakajima (math.QA/0105173) for certain resolutions of quiver varieties (analogs of the Springer resolution) : for Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules of simply-laced quantum affine algebras, we characterize explicitly the Drinfeld polynomials corresponding to the small resolutions. We use an elimination theorem for monomials of Frenkel-Reshetikhin q-characters that we establish for non necessarily…
Frenkel and Reshetikhin introduced screening operators related to q-characters of finite dimensional representations of quantum affine algebras. We propose t-analogs of screening operators related to Nakajima's q,t-characters with the same properties of symmetry. Nakajima introduced non-commutative rings, so we propose bimodules. Our construction uses only combinatorial definition of q,t-characters, and therefore can be extended to the non-simply laced case.
We study representations of the quantum affine superalgebra associated with a general linear Lie superalgebra. In the spirit of Hernandez-Jimbo, we construct inductive systems of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules based on a cyclicity result that we established previously on tensor products of these modules, and realize their inductive limits as modules over its Borel subalgebra, the so-called $q$-Yangian. A new generic asymptotic limit of the same inductive systems is proposed, resulting in modules over the full quantum affine superalgebra. We derive generalized Baxter's relations in the sense of F…
We construct explicitly the quantum symplectic affine algebra $U_q(\widehat{sp}_{2n})$ using bosonic fields. The Fock space decomposes into irreducible modules of level -1/2, quantizing the Feingold-Frenkel construction for q=1.
We revisit the free field construction of the deformed $W$-algebra by Frenkel and Reshetikhin [Comm. Math. Phys. 197 (1998), 1-32], where the basic $W$-current has been identified. Herein, we establish a free field construction of higher $W$-currents of the deformed $W$-algebra associated with the twisted affine Lie algebra $A_{2N}^{(2)}$. We obtain a closed set of quadratic relations and duality, which allows us to define deformed $W$-algebra ${\mathcal W}_{x,r}\big(A_{2N}^{(2)}\big)$ using generators and relations.
Frenkel and Reshetikhin introduced q-characters to study finite dimensional representations of quantum affine algebras. In the simply laced case Nakajima defined deformations of q-characters called q,t-characters. The definition is combinatorial but the proof of the existence uses the geometric theory of quiver varieties which holds only in the simply laced case. In this article we propose an algebraic general (non necessarily simply laced) new approach to q,t-characters motivated by our deformed screening operators. The t-deformations are naturally deduced from the structure of the quantum af…
We prove the conjecture of Frenkel, Kac and Wakimoto on the existence of two-sided BGG resolutions of G-integrable admissible representations of affine Kac-Moody algebras at fractional levels. As an application we establish the semi-infintie analogue of the generalized Borel-Weil theorem for mimimal parabolic subalgebras which enables an inductive study of admissible representations.
Generalizing Feingold-Frenkel's construction we use Weyl bosonic fields to construct toroidal Lie algebras of types $A_n, B_n$, $C_n$ and $D_n$ of level $-1, -2, -1/2$ and -2 respectively. In particular, our construction also gives new bosonic construction for the orthogonal Lie algebras in the cases of affine Lie algebras.
This is an expository introduction to fusion rules for affine Kac-Moody algebras, with major focus on the algorithmic aspects of their computation and the relationship with tensor product decompositions. Many explicit examples are included with figures illustrating the rank 2 cases. New results relating fusion coefficients to tensor product coefficients are proved, and a conjecture is given which shows that the Frenkel-Zhu affine fusion rule theorem can be seen as a beautiful generalization of the Parasarathy-Ranga Rao-Varadarajan tensor product theorem. Previous work of the author and collabo…
This is a paper in a series to study vertex algebra-like structures arising from various algebras including quantum affine algebras and Yangians. In this paper, we develop a theory of what we call (weak) quantum vertex $\F((t))$-algebras with $\F$ a field of characteristic zero and $t$ a formal variable, and we give a conceptual construction of (weak) quantum vertex $\F((t))$-algebras and their modules. As an application, we associate weak quantum vertex $\F((t))$-algebras to quantum affine algebras, providing a solution to a problem posed by Frenkel and Jing. We also explicitly construct an e…
We introduce the techniques of semiregular bimodules over a Lie algebra with respect to a Lie subalgebra. Using this techniques in the case of affine Lie algebras we introduce twisting functors on the categories of modules. These functors are enumerated by elements of the affine Weyl group corresponding to the chosen affine Lie algebra and map Verma modules to so called twisted Verma modules. Applying twisting functors to the BGG resolution of an integrable simple module we obtain a sequence of complexes called the twisted BGG resolutions. We show that the twisted BGG resolutions form an induc…
Let $\mathscr{C}$ be the category of finite dimensional modules over the quantum affine algebra $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{g}})$ of a simple complex Lie algebra ${\mathfrak{g}}$. Let $\mathscr{C}^-$ be the subcategory introduced by Hernandez and Leclerc. We prove the geometric $q$-character formula conjectured by Hernandez and Leclerc in types $\mathbb{A}$ and $\mathbb{B}$ for a class of simple modules called snake modules introduced by Mukhin and Young. Moreover, we give a combinatorial formula for the $F$-polynomial of the generic kernel associated to the snake module. As an application, we sho…
We construct central elements in a completion of the quantum affine algebra at the critical level c=-g from the universal R-matrix (g being the dual Coxeter number of the corresponding simple Lie algebra), using the method of Reshetikhin and Semenov-Tian-Shansky. This construction defines an action of the Grothendieck algebra of the category of finite-dimensional representations of the quantum affine algebra on any module over this algebra from category O with c=-g. We explain the connection between the central elements and transfer matrices in statistical mechanics. In the quasiclassical appr…
Following the approach of Ding and Frenkel [Comm. Math. Phys. 156 (1993), 277-300] for type $A$, we showed in our previous work [J. Math. Phys. 61 (2020), 031701, 41 pages] that the Gauss decomposition of the generator matrix in the $R$-matrix presentation of the quantum affine algebra yields the Drinfeld generators in all classical types. Complete details for type $C$ were given therein, while the present paper deals with types $B$ and $D$. The arguments for all classical types are quite similar so we mostly concentrate on necessary additional details specific to the underlying orthogonal Lie…
We consider an infinite quiver $Q(\mathfrak{g})$ and a family of periodic quivers $Q_m(\mathfrak{g})$ for a finite dimensional simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ and $m \in \mathbb{Z}_{>1}$. The quiver $Q(\mathfrak{g})$ is essentially same as what introduced by Hernandez and Leclerc for the quantum affine algebra. We construct the Weyl group $W(\mathfrak{g})$ as a subgroup of the cluster modular group for $Q_m(\mathfrak{g})$, in a similar way as what studied by the author, Ishibashi and Oya, and study its applications to the $q$-characters of quantum non-twisted affine algebras $U_q(\hat{\mathf…
The purpose of this paper is to introduce and study a q-analogue of the holonomic system of differential equations associated to the Belavin's classical r-matrix (elliptic r-matrix equations), or, equivalently, to define an elliptic deformation of the quantum Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations of Frenkel and Reshetikhin. In hep-th 9303018, it was shown that solutions of the elliptic r-matrix equations admit a representation as traces of products of intertwining operators between certain modules over affine sl(N). In this paper, this construction is generalized to quantum affine sl(N). The main o…
