We determine the most general group of equivalence transformations for a family of differential equations defined by an arbitrary vector field on a manifold. We also find all invariants and differential invariants for this group up to the second order. A result on the characterization of classes of these equations by the invariant functions is also given.
We give a description of the field of rational natural differential invariants for a class of nonlinear differential operators of the third order on a two dimensional manifold and show their application to the equivalence problem of such operators.
We compute the quotient of the self-duality equation for conformal metrics by the action of the diffeomorphism group. We also determine Hilbert polynomial, counting the number of independent scalar differential invariants depending on the jet-order, and the corresponding Poincaré function. We describe the field of rational differential invariants separating generic orbits of the diffeomorphism pseudogroup action, resolving the local recognition problem for self-dual conformal structures.
We present a construction of a large class of Laplace invariants for linear hyperbolic partial differential operators of fairly general form and arbitrary order.
We identify conditions giving large natural classes of partial differential operators for which it is possible to construct a complete set of Laplace invariants. In order to do that we investigate general properties of differential invariants of partial differential operators under gauge transformations and introduce a sufficient condition for a set of invariants to be complete. We also give a some mild conditions that guarantee the existence of such a set. The proof is constructive. The method gives many examples of invariants previously known in the literature as well as many new examples in…
We outline an algorithm for construction of functional bases of absolute invariants under the rotation group for sets of rank 2 tensors and vectors in the Euclidean space of arbitrary dimension. We will use our earlier results for symmetric tensors and add results for sets including antisymmetric tensors of rank 2. That allowed, in particular, constructing of functional bases of differential invariants for vector functions, in particular, of first-order invariants of Poincaré algebra (invariance algebra of Maxwell equations for vector potential).
This paper surveys results found by the authors in the previous papers (see for example, A. Duyunova, V. Lychagin, S. Tychkov, Differential invariants for spherical layer flows of a viscid fluid, Journal of Geometry and Physics, 130, 288-292 (2018)) concerning calculation and classification of symmetry Lie algebra and differential invariants for a variety of fundamental systems in fluid mechanics, including the Euler and Navier-Stokes equations on a plane, three-dimensional space, a sphere, and a spherical layer. In each case, the symmetry Lie algebra is found, followed by a list of generating…
Symmetries and the corresponding fields of differential invariants of the inviscid flows on a curve are given. Their dependence on thermodynamic states of media is studied, and a classification of thermodynamic states is given.
This paper completes the construction of arbitrary order conformally invariant differential operators in higher spin spaces. Jan Slovák has classified all conformally invariant differential operators on locally conformally flat manifolds. We complete his results in higher spin theory by giving explicit expressions for arbitrary order conformally invariant differential operators, where by conformally invariant we mean equivariant with respect to the conformal group of $\mathbb{S}^m$ acting in Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^m$. We name these the fermionic operators when the order is odd and bosonic…
Due to the principle of minimal information gain, the measurement of points in an affine space $V$ determines a Legendrian submanifold of $V \times V^* \times \mathbb R$. Such Legendrian submanifolds are equipped with additional geometric structures that come from the central moments of the underlying probability distributions and are invariant under the action of the group of affine transformations on $V$. We investigate the action of this group of affine transformations on Legendrian submanifolds of $V \times V^* \times \mathbb R$ by giving a detailed overview of the structure of the algebra…
Nonlinear PDE's having {\bf given} conditional symmetries are constructed. They are obtained starting from the invariants of the "conditional symmetry" generator and imposing the extra condition given by the characteristic of the symmetry. Several of examples starting from the Boussinesq and including non-autonomous Korteweg-De Vries like equations are given to showcase the methodology introduced.
Covariants, joint invariants and the problem of equivalence in the invariant theory of Killing tensors defined in pseudo-Riemannian spaces of constant curvature
We propose a novel algorithmic method for constructing invariant variational schemes of systems of ordinary differential equations that are the Euler-Lagrange equations of a variational principle. The method is based on the invariantization of standard, non-invariant discrete Lagrangian functionals using equivariant moving frames. The invariant variational schemes are given by the Euler-Lagrange equations of the corresponding invariantized discrete Lagrangian functionals. We showcase this general method by constructing invariant variational schemes of ordinary differential equations that prese…
In general, adding a stochastic perturbation to a differential equation possessing an invariant manifold destroys the invariance as far as the Itô formalism is used. In this article, we propose an invariantization method for perturbations in the Itô case which can be used to restore invariance. We then apply our results to develop a stochastic version of the Landau-Lifshitz equation. We discuss in particular previous results obtained by Etore and al. in [P. Étoré, S.Labbé , J. Lelong, Long time behaviour of a stochastic nanoparticle, J. Differential Equations 257 (2014), 2115-2135].
We find the complete equivalence group of a class of (1+1)-dimensional second-order evolution equations, which is infinite-dimensional. The equivariant moving frame methodology is invoked to construct, in the regular case of the normalization procedure, a moving frame for a group related to the equivalence group in the context of equivalence transformations among equations of the class under consideration. Using the moving frame constructed, we describe the algebra of differential invariants of the former group by obtaining a minimum generating set of differential invariants and a complete set…
