In this paper we study the quantum phase transition and entanglement in s1=1/2 and s2=1 spin pair system by the exact diagonalization method. We show that, for this exactly solvable quantum bi-spin system, entanglement appears before quantum phase transition and disappears after it. Moreover, we show that the von Neumann entropy, as a measure of entanglement, can reveal quantum phase transition in this system.
We study a special two-atom entanglement case in assumed Cavity QED experiment in which only one atom effectively exchanges a single photon with a cavity mode. We compute diatom entanglement under position-dependent atomic resonant dipole-dipole interaction (RDDI) for large interatomic separation limit. We show that the RDDI, even which is much smaller than the maximal atomic Rabi frequency, can induce distinct diatom entanglement. The peak entanglement (PE) reaches a maximum when RDDI strength can compare with the Rabi frequency of an atom.
An Ising-type atom-atom interaction is obtained in a fiber-connected three-atom system. The interaction is effective when $Δ\approx γ_{0}\gg g$. The preparations of remote two-atom and three-atom entanglement governed by this interaction are discussed in specific parameters region. The overall two-atom entanglement is very small because of the existence of the third atom. However, the three-atom entanglement can reach a maximum very close to 1.
We analyze the entanglement dynamics of a system composed by a pair of neutral two-level atoms that are initially entangled, and the electromagnetic field, initially in the vacuum state, within the formalism of perturbative quantum field theory up to the second order. We investigate the entanglement dynamics and coherence of two two-level atoms interacting with two coherent fields of two spatially separated and dissipative cavities. It is in particular shown that entanglement sudden death is obtained within a short interacting time. However, after a long interaction time a long-lived entanglement is shown, that is, the initial entanglement of two atoms could be partially preserved. In addition, the coherence of the two atoms will not be lost during the evolution.
We investigate entanglement dynamics for two atoms coupling with fluctuating electromagnetic field in the cosmic string spacetime. We calculate the entanglement for different conditions. We propose a simple technique to generate entanglement between distant cavities by using entanglement swapping involving atomic momenta. For the proposed scheme, we have two identical atoms, both initially in their ground state, each incident on far apart cavities with particular initial momenta. With quantum interference of two-path spontaneous emissions, we propose a novel scheme to coherently control the atom--photon momentum entanglement through atomic internal coherence. A novel phenomenon called ``momentum phase entanglement'' is reported, and we found, under certain conditions, that more controllable entangled state can be produced with super--high degree of entanglement.
Two two-level atoms within a leaky optical cavity is driven by two independent external optical white noise fields. We investigate how entanglement between two atoms arises in such a situation. The steady state entanglement of two atoms is also investigated. A stochastic-resonance-like behavior of entanglement is revealed. Finally, the Bell violation between atoms is discussed.

We consider the coherent state radiation field inside a micromaser cavity and study the entanglement mediated by it on a pair of two level atoms passing though the cavity one after the other. We then investigate the effects of squeezing of the cavity field on the atomic entanglement. We compute the entanglement of formation for the emerging mixed two-atom state and show that squeezing of the cavity radiation field can increase the atomic entanglement.
The entanglement of two dipole-coupled atoms with nondegenerate two-photon transitions interacting with two-mode field in lossless cavity has been investigated. It shows that the entanglement is dependent on the initial atomic states. We study the evolution of quantum entanglement in double cavity systems. The entanglement of cavity atoms induced by entangled pair of photons is investigated. We study evolution of entanglement of two two-level atoms placed inside a multilayered microsphere. The resonant interaction between two two-level atoms and m- electromagnetic modes in a cavity is considered. Entanglement dynamics between two atoms is examined. In particular we compare dynamical variations for different cavity modes as well as for different cavity photon numbers. The collapse and revival of entanglement is exhibited by varying the atom-photon interaction times.
We consider a pair of three - level atoms interacting with a common vacuum and analyze the process of entanglement production due to spontaneous emission. We show that in the case of closely separated atoms, collective damping can generate robust entanglement of the asymptotic states.
We analyze entanglement generation between a pair of neutral two level atoms that are initially excited in a common electromagnetic vacuum. The nonlocal correlations that appear due to the interaction with the field can become entanglement when the field state is known. We distinguish two different situations: in the first, the field remains in the vacuum state, and second two photons are present in the final state. In both cases we study the dependence of the entanglement with time and interatomic distance, at ranges related with locality issues.
We study the entanglement dynamics of strongly driven atoms off-resonantly coupled with cavity fields. We consider conditions characterized not only by the atom-field coupling but also by the atom-field detuning. We present a fully analytical solution of the dynamics of two strongly-driven atoms resonantly coupled to a dissipative cavity field mode. We show that an initial atom-atom entanglement cannot be increased. We present an efficient way for measuring the entanglement of the atoms. Through the auxiliary single photons input-output process in cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED), the concurrence of the atomic entanglement can be obtained according to the success probability of picking up the singlet states of the atoms. A system of two two-level atoms interacting with a squeezed vacuum field can exhibit stationary entanglement associated with nonclassical two-photon correlations characteristic of the squeezed vacuum field. The amount of entanglement present in the system is quantified by the well known measure of entanglement called concurrence. In this paper, we use the Weisskopf-Wigner theory to study the entanglement in the state of the free-space radiation field produced from vacuum due to atomic decay. We show how bipartite entanglement is shared between different partitions of the radiation modes. We investigate the role played by the size of the partitions and their detuning with the decaying atom. The dynamics of the atom-field entanglement during the atomic decay is also briefly discussed. From this dynamics, we assert that such entanglement is the physical quantity that fix the statistical atomic decay time.

With the quantum interference between two transition pathways, we demonstrate a novel scheme to coherently control the momentum entanglement between a single atom and a single photon. We discuss the generation of two-atom entanglement inside a resonant microcavity under stimulated emission (STE) interaction. The amount of entanglement is shown based on different atomic initial state. Faraday rotation based on AC Stark shifts is a mechanism that can entangle the polarization variables of photons and atoms. We analyze the structure of such entanglement by using the Schmidt decomposition method. The time-dependence of entanglement entropy and the effective Schmidt number are derived for Gaussian amplitudes. In particular we show how the entanglement is controlled by the initial fluctuations of atoms and photons.

We study evolution of entanglement of two two-level atoms in the presence of dissipation caused by spontaneous emission. We find explicit fromulas for the amount of entanglement as a function of time, in the case of destruction of the initial entanglement and possible creation of a transient entanglement between atoms. We propose an entanglement swapping of atomic states confined by cavities QED using a photonic Faraday rotation. Two schemes are considered in which we use three and four cavities, respectively, plus an additional circularly-polarized photon. After interacting with an atom trapped inside the cavity the system evolves to an entangled atom-photon state. The entanglement swapping is then achieved by a Bell-state measurement upon the entire atom-photon state.
The resonance fluorescence from regular atomic systems is shown to represent a continuous source of non-Gaussian entangled radiation propagating in two different directions. For a single atom entanglement occurs under the same conditions as squeezing. For more atoms, the entanglement can be more robust against dephasing than squeezing, hence providing a useful continuous source for various applications of entangled radiation.
We propose a direct, coherent coupling scheme that can create massively entangled states of Bose-Einstein condensed atoms. Our idea is based on an effective interaction between two atoms from coherent Raman processes through a (two atom) molecular intermediate state. We compare our scheme with other recent proposals for generation of massive entanglement of Bose condensed atoms.
We report the observation of entanglement between a single trapped atom and a single photon at a wavelength suitable for low-loss communication over large distances, thereby achieving a crucial step towards long range quantum networks. To verify the entanglement we introduce a single atom state analysis. This technique is used for full state tomography of the atom-photon qubit-pair. The detection efficiency and the entanglement fidelity are high enough to allow in a next step the generation of entangled atoms at large distances, ready for a final loophole-free Bell experiment.
We study the dynamics of two identical atoms resonantly coupled to a single-mode cavity under practical feedback control, and focus on the detection inefficiency. The entanglement is induced to vanish in finite time by the inefficiency of detection. Counterintuitively, the asymptotic entanglement and quantum discord can be increased by the inefficiency of detection. The noise of detection triggers control field to create entanglement and discord when no photon are emitted from the atoms. Furthermore, sudden change happens to the dynamics of entanglement.
We investigate the dynamical behavior of the atom-photon entanglement in a V-type three-level quantum system using the atomic reduced entropy. It is shown that an atom and photons are entangled at the steady-state; however disentanglement can also be achieved in an especial condition. It is demonstrated that in the presence of quantum interference induced by spontaneous emission, the reduced entropy and the atom-photon entanglement are phase-dependent. Non-stationary solution is also obtained when the quantum interference due to the spontaneous emission is completely included.
The influence of dipole-dipole interaction on the entanglement between two atoms with different initial entangled W-like states in Tavis-Cummings model with degenerate two-photon transitions has been investigated. The results show that the entanglement between two atoms can be increased by means of dipole-dipole interaction and for some initial states the entanglement sudden death effect can be weakened.
We propose an experimental scheme for the measurement of entanglement between two two-level atoms. Our scheme requires one of the two entangled atoms to interact with a cavity field dispersively, and we show that by measuring the zero time-delay second-order coherence function of the cavity field, one can measure the concurrence of an arbitrary Bell-like atomic two-qubit state. We propose a simple scheme, in which only one atom couples to a cavity field, to entangle two two-level atoms. We connect two atoms with dipole-dipole interaction since one of them can move around the cavity. The results show that the peak entanglment does not depend on dipole-dipole interaction strength but on field density at a certain controlling time. So the field density can act as a switch for maximum entanglement (ME) generation.
Analysis of the spontaneously induced correlation on atom-radiation entanglement in an ensemble of two-level atoms initially prepared in the upper level and placed in a cavity containing a squeezed radiation employing the method of evaluating the coherent-state propagator is presented. We study the dynamics of the non-classical correlations for few atom systems in the presence of strong interactions for a number of recently developed adiabatic state preparation protocols. We show that entanglement can be created in a controlled fashion and can be attributed to two distinct sources, the atom-atom interaction and the distribution of atoms among different traps.

The entanglement of multi-atom quantum states is considered. In order to cancel noise due to inhomogeneous light atom coupling, the concept of matched multi-atom observables is proposed. As a means to eliminate an important form of decoherence this idea should be of broad relevance for quantum information processing with atomic ensembles. The general approach is illustrated on the example of rotation angle measurement, and it is shown that the multi-atom states that were thought to be only weakly entangled can exhibit near-maximum entanglement.
The evolution of entanglement for two identical two-level atoms coupled to a resonant thermal field is studied for two different families of input states. Entanglement enhancement is predicted for a well defined region of the parameter space of one of these families. The most intriguing result is the possibility of probabilistic production of maximally entangled atomic states even if the input atomic state is factorized and the corresponding output state is separable.
We demonstrate a novel way to efficiently and very robust create an entanglement between an atomic and a photonic qubit. A single laser beam is used to excite one atomic ensemble and two different spatial modes of scattered Raman fields are collected to generate the atom-photon entanglement. An exact solution of the problem of two-atom one- and two-mode Jaynes-Cummings model with intensity-dependent coupling is presented. Asymptotic solutions for system state vectors are obtained in the approximation of large initial coherent fields. The atom-field entanglement is investigated on the basis of the reduced atomic entropy dynamics. The possibility of the system being initially in a pure disentangled state to revive into this state during the evolution process for both models is shown. Conditions and times of disentanglement are derived.
We address ultracold $N$-atom degenerate cascade systems and show that stationary subradiant states, already observed in the semiclassical regime, also exist in a fully quantum regime and for a small number of atoms. We explicitly evaluate the amount of stationary entanglement for the two-atom configuration and show full inseparability for the three-atom case. We also show that a continuous variable description of the systems is not suitable to detect entanglement due to the nonGaussianity of subradiant states.
We propose to entangle macroscopic atomic ensembles in cavity using EPR-correlated beams. We show how the field entanglement can be almost perfectly mapped onto the long-lived atomic spins associated with the ground states of the ensembles, and how it can be retrieved in the fields exiting the cavities after a variable storage time. Such a continuous variable quantum memory is of interest for manipulating entanglement in quantum networks.

It is possible to achieve an arbitrary amount of entanglement between two atoms using only spontaneously emitted photons, linear optics, single photon sources and projective measurements. This is in contrast to all current experimental proposals for entangling two atoms, which are fundamentally restricted to one entanglement bit or ebit.
We analyze theoretically a scheme that produces spin squeezing via the continuous swapping of atom-photon entanglement into atom-atom entanglement, and propose an explicit experimental system where the necessary atom-field coupling can be realized. This scheme is found to be robust against perturbations due to other atom-field coupling channels.
The dynamics of atom-field entanglement for a system composed of two atoms resonantly coupled to a single mode leaky cavity field has been investigated beyond rotating wave approximation (RWA). By using monogamic relation for entanglement of formation (EOF) as well as the lower bound of EOF for bipartite mixed states in higher dimensions, contrary to the RWA case, the atom-field system in the steady states is found to be entangled in the strong-coupling regime and the entanglement can grow as a function of atom-field coupling strength.

We report observations of entanglement of two remote atomic qubits, achieved by generating an entangled state of an atomic qubit and a single photon at Site A, transmitting the photon to Site B in an adjacent laboratory through an optical fiber, and converting the photon into an atomic qubit. The entanglement between two atoms in a damping Jaynes-Cummings model is investigated with different decay coefficients of the atoms from the upper level to other levels under detuning between the atomic frequency and the quantized light field frequency. The results indicate that the larger the decay coefficient is, the more quickly the entanglement decays. The detuning enhances the entanglement's average value at long times. More importantly, the results show that the so-called sudden death effect can be avoided by enhancing the detuning or the decay coefficient.
We show how the entanglement of two atoms, trapped in distant separate cavities, can be generated with arbitrarily high probability of success. The scheme proposed employs sudden excitation of the atoms proving that the weakly driven condition is not necessary to obtain the success rate close to unity. The modified scheme works properly even if each cavity contains many atoms interacting with the cavity modes. We also show that our method is robust against the spontaneous atomic decay.
With the mechanism of pairwise scattering of photons between two atoms, we propose a novel scheme to highly entangle the motional state between two ultracold neutral atoms by a single photon scattering and detection. Under certain conditions, it is shown that an arbitrary amount of entanglement can be obtained with this scheme.
