We show how the entanglement of two atoms, trapped in distant separate cavities, can be generated with arbitrarily high probability of success. The scheme proposed employs sudden excitation of the atoms proving that the weakly driven condition is not necessary to obtain the success rate close to unity. The modified scheme works properly even if each cavity contains many atoms interacting with the cavity modes. We also show that our method is robust against the spontaneous atomic decay.
We propose a scheme to realize heralded quantum entanglement between two distant matter qubits using two $Λ$ atom systems. Our proposal does not need any photon interference. We also present a general theory of outcome state of non-monochromatic incident light and finite interaction time.
We propose a scheme to generate an effective interaction of arbitrary strength between the internal degrees of freedom of two atoms placed in distant cavities connected by an optical fiber. The strength depends on the field intensity in the cavities. As an application of this interaction, we calculate the amount of entanglement it generates between the internal states of the distant atoms. The scheme effectively converts entanglement distribution networks to networks of interacting spins.
We show how to apply Lyapunov control design to the problem of entanglement creation between two atoms in distant cavities connected by optical fibers. The Lyapunov control design is optimal in the sense that the distance from the target state decreases monotonically and exponentially, and the concurrence increases accordingly. This method is far more robust than simple geometric schemes.
We theoretically investigate the stability of a two cascaded cavity optomechanical system with optical parametric amplifiers (OPAs) inside the two coupled cavities, and study the steady-state entanglement between two distant mechanical resonators. A recently proposed purification method, in which the Zeno-like measurements of a subsystem can bring about a distillation of another subsystem in interaction with the former, is utilized to yield entangled states between distant systems. It is shown that the measurements of a two-level system locally interacting with other two spatially separated not coupled subsystems, can distill entangled states from the latter irrespectively of the initial states of the two subsystems.
Preparing many body entangled states efficiently using available interactions is a challenging task. We theoretically investigate the possibility to generate non-classical states of optical and mechanical modes of optical cavities, distant from each other. A setup comprised of two identical cavities, each with one fixed and one movable mirror and coupled by an optical fiber, is studied in detail. We show that with such a setup there is potential to generate entanglement between the distant cavities, involving both optical and mechanical modes. The scheme is robust with respect to dissipation, and nonlocal correlations are found to exist in the steady state at finite temperatures.
The mechanism for entanglement of two flux qubits each interacting with a single mode electromagnetic field is discussed. By performing a Bell state measurements (BSM) on photons we find the two qubits in an entangled state depending on the system parameters. We discuss the results for two initial states and take into consideration the influence of decoherence.
We propose a deterministic scheme for establishing hybrid Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) entanglement channel between a macroscopic mechanical oscillator and a magnon mode in a distant yttrium-iron-garnet (YIG) sphere across about ten gigahertz of frequency difference. We propose a scheme to utilize photons for ideal quantum transmission between atoms located at spatially-separated nodes of a quantum network. The transmission protocol employs special laser pulses which excite an atom inside an optical cavity at the sending node so that its state is mapped into a time-symmetric photon wavepacket that will enter a cavity at the receiving node and be absorbed by an atom there with unit probability. Implementation of our scheme would enable reliable transfer or sharing of entanglement among spatially distant atoms.

We show that nonradiative interactions between atomic dipoles placed in a waveguide can give rise to deterministic entanglement at ranges much larger than their resonant wavelength. The range increases as the dipole-resonance approaches the waveguide's cutoff frequency, caused by the giant density of photon modes near cutoff, a regime where the standard (perturbative) Markov approximation fails. We provide analytical theories for both the Markovian and non-Markovian regimes, supported by numerical simulations, and discuss possible experimental realizations.

We study steady-state continuous variable entanglement in a three-mode optomechanical system consisting of an active optical cavity (gain) coupled to a passive optical cavity (loss) supporting a mechanical mode. For a driving laser which is blue-detuned, we show that coupling between optical and mechanical modes is enhanced in the unbroken-$\mathcal{PT}$-symmetry regime. We analyze the stability and this shows that steady-state solutions are more stable in the gain and loss systems. We suggest a method of entangling significantly the distant ends of a spin chain using minimal control. This entanglement between distant individual spins is brought about solely by exploiting the dynamics of an initial mixed state with Neel order if the lattice features nearest-neighbor XXZ interaction. There is no need to control single spins or to have engineered couplings or to pulse globally. We present a proposal for heralded entanglement between two quantum dots via Hong--Ou--Mandel effect. Each of the quantum dots, drived off-resonance by two lasers, can be entangled with the coherent cavity mode. The output photons from the two coherent cavity modes interfering by a beamsplitter, we could entangle the two QDs with nearly unit success probability. Our scheme requires neither direct coupling between qubits nor the detection of single photons. Moreover the quantum dots do not need to have the same frequencies and coupling constants.
In composed quantum systems, the presence of local dissipative channels causes loss of coherence and entanglement at a rate that grows with the temperature of the reservoirs. We study the emergence of bipartite entanglement between a pair of spins weakly connected to the ends of a linear disordered $XY$ spin-1/2 channel. We analyze how their concurrence responds to structural and on-site fluctuations embodied by long-range spatially-correlated sequences. We show that the end-to-end entanglement is very robust against disorder and asymmetries in the channel provided that the degree of correlations are strong enough and both entangling parties are tuned accordingly. A simple scheme to prepare an entanglement between two separated qubits from a given mixed state is proposed. A single qubit (entanglement mediator) is repeatedly made to interact locally and consecutively with the two qubits through rotating-wave couplings and is then measured. We propose an approach for collective enhancement of precision for remotely located optical lattice clocks and a way of generation of the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen state of remote clocks. We describe a scheme that allows for the generation of any desired N-photon state on demand. Under ideal conditions, this requires only N single photon sources, laser pulses and linear optics elements. First, the sources should be initialised with the help of single-qubit rotations and repeat-until-success two-qubit quantum gates [Lim et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 95, 030305 (2005)]. Afterwards, the state of the sources can be mapped onto the state of N newly generated photons whenever needed.

We study the problem of entangling two spins at the distant ends of a spin chain by exploiting the nonequilibrium dynamics of the system after a sudden global quench. As initial states we consider a canted/spiral order product state of the spins, and singlets of neighboring pairs of spins. We evaluate the exact concurrence between any two spins in a cyclic XX chain of n spins placed in a uniform transverse magnetic field, both at zero and finite temperature, by means of the Jordan-Wigner transformation plus a number parity projected statistics. We propose a dissipative scheme to prepare a three-dimensional entangled state for two atoms trapped in separate coupled cavities. Our work shows that both atomic spontaneous emission and cavity decay, which are two typical obstacles in unitary-dynamics-based schemes, could be utilized as resources for high-dimensional entangled state preparation without specifying initial state and controlling time precisely. Final numerical simulation with one group of experimental parameters indicates that the performance of our scheme is better than the unitary-dynamics-based scheme.

We propose a scheme for the generation of entangled states for two atoms trapped in separate cavities coupled to each other. The scheme is based on the competition between the unitary dynamics induced by the classical fields and the collective decays induced by the dissipation of two delocalized field modes. We theoretically study the non-equilibrium correlations and entanglement between distant semiconductor qubits in a one-dimensional coupled-mechanical-resonator chain. Each qubit is defined by a double quantum dot (DQD) and embedded in a mechanical resonator. The two qubits can be coupled, correlated and entangled through phonon transfer along the resonator chain. We propose a scheme for conditional implementation of a quantum phase gate by using distant atoms trapped in different optical cavities. Instead of direct interaction between atoms, the present scheme makes use of quantum interference of polarized photons decaying from the optical cavities to conditionally create the desired quantum phase gate between two distant atoms. The proposed scheme only needs linear optical elements and a two-fold coincidence detection, and are insensitive to the quantum noise. The scheme can be directly used to prepare any quantum state of many distant atoms.
We show that it is possible to generate entanglement between two distant Bose-Einstein condensates by detection of Hanbury Brown-Twiss type correlations in photons Bragg-scattered by the condensates. We propose a scheme for implementing a controlled unitary gate between two distant atoms directly communicating through a quantum transmission line. To achieve our goal, only a series of several coherent pulses are applied to the atoms. Our scheme thus requires no ancilla atomic qubit. The simplicity of our scheme may significantly improve the scalability of quantum computers based on trapped neutral atoms or ions.
We propose a scheme for preparing an EPR state in position and momentum of a pair of distantly-separated trapped atoms. The scheme utilizes the entangled light fields output from a nondegenerate optical parametric amplifier. Quantum state exchange between these fields and the motional states of the trapped atoms is accomplished via interactions in cavity QED.
An experiment that involves two distant mesoscopic SQUID rings is studied. The superconducting rings are irradiated with correlated photons, which are produced by a single microwave source. Classically correlated (separable) and quantum mechanically correlated (entangled) microwaves are considered, and their effect on the Josephson currents is quantified. It is shown that the currents tunnelling through the Josephson junctions in the distant rings, are correlated.
We propose a scheme to create distant entangled atomic states. It is based on driving two (or more) atoms with a weak laser pulse, so that the probability that two atoms are excited is negligible. If the subsequent spontaneous emission is detected, the entangled state is created. We have developed a model to analyze the fidelity of the resulting state as a function of the dimensions and location of the detector, and the motional properties of the atoms.
We propose a scheme for entangling the motional mode of a trapped atom with a propagating light field via a cavity-mediated parametric interaction. We then show that if this light field is subsequently coupled to a second distant atom via a cavity-mediated linear-mixing interaction, it is possible to transfer the entanglement from the light beam to the motional mode of the second atom to create an EPR-type entangled state of the positions and momenta of two distantly-separated atoms.
We extend the scheme for that proposed by S. Mancini and S. Bose (Phys. Rev. A \QTR{bf}{70}, 022307(2004)) to the case of triple-atom. Under mean field approximation, we obtain an effective Hamiltonian of triple-body Ising-model interaction. Furthermore, we stress on discussing the influence of the existence of a third-atom on the two-atom entanglement and testing the modulation effects of locally applied optical fields and fiber on the entanglement properties of our system.
