We calculate the photon emission of a high finesse cavity moving in vacuum. The cavity is treated as an open system. The field initially in the vacuum state accumulates a dephasing depending on the mirrors motion when bouncing back and forth inside the cavity. The dephasing is not linearized in our calculation, so that qualitatively new effects like pulse shaping in the time domain and frequency up-conversion in the spectrum are found. Furthermore we predict the existence of a threshold above which the system should show self-sustained oscillations.
We use a versatile model to evaluate the multipartite entanglement and the nonclassical light generation in optical parametric oscillators, exploring the differences between doubly and triply resonant cavity configurations. We demonstrate the entanglement of the pump mode with converted fields in both situations, and the fundamental differences of oscillators using parametric down conversion and four wave mixing processes as the intracavity amplification technique. The strong correlations involving the sidebands of the pump and converted fields gives the signatures of a rich dynamic of multipa…
In this paper, we investigate the energy spectrum and coherent dynamical process in a cavity-QED setup with a moving emitter, which is subject to a harmonic potential. We find that the vibration of the emitter will induce the effective Kerr and optomechanical interactions. We generalize the Bogliubov operators approach which dealt with quantum Rabi model, to our cavity-emitter-vibration system and obtain the energy spectrum exactly. With the assistance of Bogliubov operators approach, we obtain the energy spectrum of the system exactly. Furthermore, we show that the dynamics of the system exhi…
The minimum time required for a quantum system to evolve from an arbitrary initial state to its orthogonal state is known as the quantum speed limit (QSL) time. In this work, we consider the model in which a single qubit moves inside a leaky cavity and then we study the QSL time for this model. Notably, we show that for both weak and strong coupling regimes, the QSL time increases with increasing the velocity of the qubit inside the leaky cavity. Moreover, it is observed that by increasing qubit velocity, the speed of the evolution tends to a constant value and the system becomes more stable.
Nonclassical states of light are an important resource in today's quantum communication and metrology protocols. Quantum up-conversion of nonclassical states is a promising approach to overcome frequency differences between disparate subsystems within a quantum information network. Here, we present the generation of heralded narrowband single photons at 1550 nm via cavity enhanced spontaneous parametric downconversion (SPDC) and their subsequent up-conversion to 532 nm. Quantum non-Gaussianity (QNG), which is an important feature for applications in quantum information science, was experimenta…
Uncertainty principle has a fundamental role in quantum theory. This principle states that it is not possible to measure two incompatible observers simultaneously. The uncertainty principle is expressed logically in terms of standard deviation of the measured observables. In quantum information it has been shown that the uncertainty principle can be expressed by means of Shannon's entropy. Entropic uncertainty relation can be improve by consider an additional particle as the quantum memory. In the presence of quantum memory the entropic uncertainty relation is called quantum memory assisted en…
We investigate the dynamics of a particle in a confined periodic system---a time-dependent oscillator confined by infinitely high and moving walls---and focus on the evolution of the phase of the wavefunction. It is shown that, for some specific initial states in this potential, the phase of the wavefunction throughout the cavity depends on the walls motion. We further elaborate a thought experiment based on interferences devised to detect this form of single-particle nonlocality from a relative phase. We point out that, within the non-relativistic formalism based on the Schrödinger equation (…
Trapped atomic ions embedded in optical cavities are a promising platform to enable long-distance quantum networks and their most far-reaching applications. Here we achieve and analyze photon indistinguishability in a telecom-converted ion-cavity system. First, two-photon interference of cavity photons at their ion-resonant wavelength is observed and found to reach the limits set by spontaneous emission. Second, this limit is shown to be preserved after a two-step frequency conversion replicating a distributed scenario, in which the cavity photons are converted to the telecom C band and then b…
We perform a theoretical investigation into the classical and quantum dynamics of an optical field in a cavity containing a moving membrane ("membrane-in-the-middle" set-up). Our approach is based on the Maxwell wave equation, and complements previous studies based on an effective Hamiltonian. The analysis shows that for slowly moving and weakly reflective membranes the dynamics can be approximated by unitary, first-order-in-time evolution given by an effective Schrödinger-like equation with a Hamiltonian that does not depend on the membrane speed. This approximate theory is the one typically …
Efficient entanglement preservation in open quantum systems is a crucial scope towards a reliable exploitation of quantum resources. We address this issue by studying how two-qubit entanglement dynamically behaves when two atom qubits move inside two separated identical cavities. The moving qubits independently interact with their respective cavity. As a main general result, we find that under resonant qubit-cavity interaction the initial entanglement between two moving qubits remains closer to its initial value as time passes compared to the case of stationary qubits. In particular, we show t…
State conversion between Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state and W state is an open challenging problem because they cannot be converted to each other only by local operations and classical communication. Here we propose a cavity quantum electrodynamics method based on interference of polarized photons emitted by the atoms trapped in spatially separated optical cavities that can convert a three-atom W state to a GHZ state. We calculate the success probability and fidelity of the converted GHZ state when the cavity decay, atomic spontaneous decay, and photon leakage of the cavities are take…
We study the interaction between a moving three-level lambda rubidium atom and a single mode cavity field in the presence of Kerr-like medium. We derive the basic equations of motion for atomic system and show that it is exactly solvable in the rotating wave approximation (RWA). The momentum increment, the momentum diffusion and the Mandel Q parameter of this system are studied. We investigate numerically the influence of Kerr-Like medium on the evolution of the previous statistical properties in the exact resonate and nonresonate case where the atom is initially prepared in a momentum eigenst…
We theoretically study the radiation-induced interaction between the mechanical motion of an oscillating mirror and a remotely trapped atomic cloud. When illuminated by continuous-wave radiation, the mirror motion will induce red and blue sideband radiation, which respectively increases and reduces motional excitation. We find that by suitably driving $Λ$-level atoms, the mirror correlation with a specific radiation sideband could be converted from the outgoing to the incoming radiation. Such process allows us to manipulate the heating and cooling effects. Particularly, we develop an optomecha…
Shortcuts to adiabaticity constitute a powerful alternative that speed up time-evolution while mimicking adiabatic dynamics. They are also relevant to clarify fundamental questions such as a precise quantification of the third principle of thermodynamics and quantum speed limits. In this letter we describe, for the first time, how to implement shortcuts to adiabaticity in quantum field theory, for the particular case of a massless scalar field inside a cavity with a moving wall, in 1 + 1 dimensions. The approach is based on the known solution to the problem that exploits the conformal symmetry…
In quantum field theory, bare particles are dressed by a cloud of virtual particles to form physical particles. The virtual particles affect properties such as the mass and charge of the physical particles, and it is only these modified properties that can be measured in experiments, not the properties of the bare particles. The influence of virtual particles is prominent in the ultrastrong-coupling regime of cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED), which has recently been realized in several condensed-matter systems. In some of these systems, the effective interaction between atom-like transitio…
We theoretically investigate the simulation of moving cavities in a superconducting circuit setup. In particular, we consider a recently proposed experimental scenario where the phase of the cavity field is used as a moving clock. By computing the error made when simulating the cavity trajectory with SQUIDs, we identify parameter regimes where the correspondence holds, and where time dilation, as well as corrections due to clock size and particle creation coefficients, are observable. These findings may serve as a guideline when performing experiments on simulation of moving cavities in superc…
We study photon creation in a cavity with two perfectly conducting moving mirrors. We derive the dynamic equations of the modes and study different situations concerning various movements of the walls, such as translational or breathing modes. We can even apply our approach to one or three dimensional cavities and reobtain well known results of cavities with one moving mirror. We compare the numerical results with analytical predictions and discuss the effects of the intermode coupling in detail as well as the non perturbative regime. We also study the time evolution of the energy density as w…
We present a scheme for cavity-assisted generation of hybrid entanglement between a moving mirror belonging to an optomechanical cavity and a single trapped ion located inside a second cavity. Due to radiation pressure, it is possible to entangle the moving mirror with one of the cavity fields. Also, by tuning the second cavity field with the internal degrees of freedom of the ion, an entangled state of the cavity field/ion can be independently generated. The fields leaking from each cavity are then combined in a beam-splitter, and following the detection of the outgoing photons by convenientl…
We propose a spectrometric method to detect a classical weak force acting upon the moving end mirror in a cavity optomechanical system. The force changes the equilibrium position of the end mirror, and thus the resonance frequency of the cavity field depends on the force to be detected. As a result, the magnitude of the force can be inferred by analyzing the single-photon emission and scattering spectra of the optomechanical cavity. Since the emission and scattering processes are much faster than the characteristic mechanical dissipation, the influence of the mechanical thermal noise is neglig…
We study the entanglement dynamics between two cavities when one of them is harmonically shaken in the context of quantum information theory. We find four different regimes depending on the frequency of the motion and the spectrum of the moving cavity. If the moving cavity is three dimensional only two modes inside get coupled and the entanglement can either degrade asymptotically with time or oscillate depending on the driving. On the other hand, if the cavity has an equidistant spectrum the entanglement can either vanish asymptotically if it is driven with its fundamental frequency or have a…
Trapped atomic ions are ideal single photon emitters with long lived internal states which can be entangled with emitted photons. Coupling the ion to an optical cavity enables efficient emission of single photons into a single spatial mode and grants control over their temporal shape. These features are key for quantum information processing and quantum communication. However, the photons emitted by these systems are unsuitable for long-distance transmission due to their wavelengths. Here we report the transmission of single photons from a single $^{40}\text{Ca}^{+}$ ion coupled to an optical …
We investigate theoretically a hybrid system consisting of a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) trapped inside a laser driven membrane-in-the-middle optomechanical cavity assisted with squeezed vacuum injection whose moving membrane interacts both linearly and quadratically with the radiation pressure of the cavity. It is shown that such a hybrid system is very suitable for generating strong quadrature squeezing in the mechanical mode of the membrane and the Bogoliubov mode of the BEC in the unresolved sideband regime. More interestingly, by choosing a suitable sign for the quadratic optomechanica…
We theoretically propose and investigate a feasible experimental scheme for the realization of the dynamical Casimir effect (DCE) in a hybrid optomechanical cavity with a moving end mirror containing an interacting cigar-shaped Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC). We show that in the red-detuned regime of cavity optomechanics together with the weak optomechanical coupling limit by \textit{coherent} modulation of the \textit{s}-wave scattering frequency of the BEC and the mechanical spring coefficient of the mechanical oscillator (MO), the mechanical and atomic quantum vacuum fluctuations are parame…
