In this article we analyze the isotropic oscillator system on the two-dimensional sphere in the spherical systems of coordinates. The expansion coefficients for transitions between three spherical bases of the oscillator are calculated. It is shown that these coefficients are expressed through the Clebsch-Gordan coefficients for SU(2) group analytically continued to real values of their argument.
This article deals with nonrelativistic study of a D-dimensional superintegrable system, which generalizes the ordinary isotropic oscillator system. The coefficients for the expansion between the hyperspherical and Cartesian bases (transition matrix), and vice-versa, are found in terms of the SU(2) Clebsch--Gordan coefficients analytically continued to real values of their arguments. The diagram method, which allow one to construct a transition matrix for arbitrary dimension, is developed.
The Schrödinger equation is thoroughly analysed for the isotropic oscillator in the three-dimensional space of constant positive curvature in the spherical and cylindrical systems of coordinates. The expansion coefficients between the spherical and cylindrical bases of the oscillator are calculated. It is shown that the relevant coefficients are expressed through the generalised hypergeometric functions $_4F_3$ of the unit argument or $6_j$ Racah symbols extended over their indices to the region of real values. Limiting transitions to a free motion and flat space are considered in detail. Elli…
This article deals with a nonrelativistic quantum mechanical study of a dynamical system which generalizes the isotropic harmonic oscillator system in three dimensions. The problem of interbasis expansions of the wavefunctions is completely solved. A connection between the generalized oscillator system (projected on the z-line) and the Morse system (in one dimension) is discussed.
This article deals with a quantum-mechanical system which generalizes the ordinary isotropic harmonic oscillator system. We give the coefficients connecting the polar and Cartesian bases for D=2 and the coefficients connecting the Cartesian and cylindrical bases as well as the cylindrical and spherical bases for D=3. These interbasis expansion coefficients are found to be analytic continuations to real values of their arguments of the Clebsch-Gordan coefficients for the group SU(2). For D=2, the superintegrable character for the generalized oscillator system is investigated from the points of …
Exactly solvable model of the quantum isotropic three-dimensional singular oscillator in the relativistic configurational $\vec r$-space is proposed. We have found the radial wavefunctions, which are expressed through the continuous dual Hahn polynomials and energy spectrum for the model under consideration. It is shown that they have the correct non-relativistic limits.
We use the tridiagonal representation approach to obtain an exact solution of the three-dimensional radial Schrödinger equation for a spiked oscillator with inverse quartic singularity and for all angular momenta. The solution is a finite series of square integrable functions written in terms of the Bessel polynomial.
We study the relativistic version of the $d$-dimensional isotropic quantum harmonic oscillator based on the spinless Salpeter equation. This has no exact analytical solutions. We use perturbation theory to obtain compact formulas for the first and second-order relativistic corrections; they are expressed in terms of two quantum numbers and the spatial dimension $d$. The formula for the first-order correction is obtained using two different methods and we illustrate how this correction splits the original energy into a number of distinct levels each with their own degeneracy. Previous authors o…
An exotic rotationally invariant harmonic oscillator (ERIHO) is constructed by applying a non-unitary isotropic conformal bridge transformation (CBT) to a free planar particle. It is described by the isotropic harmonic oscillator Hamiltonian supplemented by a Zeeman type term with a real coupling constant $g$. The model reveals the Euclidean ($|g|<1$) and Minkowskian ($|g|>1$) phases separated by the phases $g=+1$ and $g=-1$ of the Landau problem in the symmetric gauge with opposite orientation of the magnetic field. A hidden symmetry emerges in the system at rational values of $g$. Its genera…
We show that 2D noncommutative harmonic oscillator has an isotropic representation in terms of commutative coordinates. The noncommutativity in the new mode, induces energy level splitting, and is equivalent to an external magnetic field effect. The equivalence of the spectra of the isotropic and anisotropic representation is traced back to the existence of SU(2) invariance of the noncommutative model.
Being comparable in quantum systems makes it possible for spaces with varying dimensions to attribute each other using special conversions can attribute schrodinger equation with like-hydrogen atom potential in defined dimensions to a schrodinger equation with other certified dimensions with isotropic oscillator potential. Applying special transformation provides a relationship between different dimensions of two quantum systems. The result of the quantized isotropic oscillator can be generalized to like-hydrogen atom problem in different dimensions. The connection between coordinate spaces in…
The angular momentum structure and energy structure of the coherent state of a 2D isotropic harmonic oscillator were investigated. Calculations showed that the average values of angular momentum and energy (except the zero point energy) of this nonspreading 2D wave packet are identical to those of the corresponding classical oscillator moving along a circular or an elliptic orbit.
In this paper, we investigate the dynamics of both free particle and isotropic harmonic oscillator constrained to move on a spheroidal surface using two consecutive projections: a projection onto a sphere surface followed by the gnomonic projection onto a tangent plane to the spheroid. We obtain the Hamiltonian of the aforementioned systems in terms of the Cartesian coordinates of the tangent plane and then quantize it in the standard way. It is shown that the effect of non-sphericity of the surface can be treated as the appearance of an effective potential. By using the perturbation theory up…
In this paper we introduce a new method for constructing coherent states for 2D harmonic oscillators. In particular, we focus on both the isotropic and commensurate anisotropic instances of the 2D harmonic oscillator. We define a new set of ladder operators for the 2D system as a linear combination of the x and y ladder operators and construct the $SU(2)$ coherent states, where these are then used as the basis of expansion for Schrödinger-type coherent states of the 2D oscillators. We discuss the uncertainty relations for the new states and study the behaviour of their probability density func…
In this paper, we investigate a two dimensional isotropic harmonic oscillator on a time-dependent spherical background. The effect of the background can be represented as a minimally coupled field to the oscillator's Hamiltonian. For a fluctuating background, transition probabilities per unit time are obtained. Transitions are possible if the energy eigenvalues of the oscillator $E_i$ and frequencies of the fluctuating background $ω_n$ satisfy the following two simple relations: $E_{j}\simeq E_{i}-\hbarω_{n}$ (stimulated emission) or $E_{j}\simeq E_{i}+\hbarω_{n}$ (absorption). This indicates …
We introduce a new method for constructing squeezed states for the 2D isotropic harmonic oscillator. Based on the construction of coherent states in [1], we define a new set of ladder operators for the 2D system as a linear combination of the x and y ladder operators and construct the SU(2) coherent states. The new ladder operators are used for generalizing the squeezing operator to 2D and the SU(2) coherent states play the role of the Fock states in the expansion of the 2D squeezed states. We discuss some properties of the 2D squeezed states.
The generalized pseudospectral Legendre method is used to carry out accurate calculations of eigenvalues of the spherically confined isotropic harmonic oscillator with impenetrable boundaries. The energy of the confined state is found to be equal to that of the unconfined state when the radius of confinement is suitably chosen as the location of the radial nodes in the unconfined state. This incidental degeneracy condition is numerically shown to be valid in general. Further, the full set of pairs of confined states defined by the quantum numbers [(n+1, \ell) ; (n, \ell+2)], n = 1,2,.., and wi…
In this study, we investigate the effects of noncommutative Quantum Mechanics in three dimensions on the energy levels of a charged isotropic harmonic oscillator in the presence of a uniform magnetic field in the z-direction. The extension of this problem to three dimensions proves to be non-trivial. We obtain the first-order corrections to the energy-levels in closed form in the low energy limit of weak noncommutativity. The most important result we can note is that all energy corrections due to noncommutativity are negative and their magnitude increase with increasing Quantum numbers and mag…
The isotropic 3-dimensional harmonic oscillator potential can serve as an approximate description of many systems in atomic, solid state, nuclear, and particle physics. In particular, the question of 2 particles binding (or coalescing) into angular momentum eigenstates in such a potential has interesting applications. We compute the probabilities for coalescence of two distinguishable, non-relativistic particles into such a bound state, where the initial particles are represented by generic wave packets of given average positions and momenta. We use a phase-space formulation and hence need the…
The Fisher-Shannon information and a statistical measure of complexity are calculated in the position and momentum spaces for the wave functions of the quantum isotropic harmonic oscillator. We show that these magnitudes are independent of the strength of the harmonic potential. Moreover, for each level of energy, it is found that these two indicators take their minimum values on the orbitals that correspond to the classical (circular) orbits in the Bohr-like quantum image, just those with the highest orbital angular momentum.
Various well-known statistical measures like \emph{López-Ruiz, Mancini, Calbet} (LMC) and \emph{Fisher-Shannon} complexity have been explored for confined isotropic harmonic oscillator (CHO) in composite position ($r$) and momentum ($p$) spaces. To get a deeper insight about CHO, a more generalized form of these quantities with Rényi entropy ($R$) is invoked here. The importance of scaling parameter in the exponential part is also investigated. $R$ is estimated considering order of entropic moments $α, β$ as $(\frac{2}{3},3)$ in $r$ and $p$ spaces respectively. Explicit results of these measur…
We present an approximative calculation of the ground-state energy for the anisotropic anharmonic oscillator Using an instanton solution of the isotropic action $δ= 0$, we obtain the imaginary part of the ground-state energy for small negative $g$ as a series expansion in the anisotropy parameter $δ$. From this, the large-order behavior of the $g$-expansions accompanying each power of $δ$ are obtained by means of a dispersion relation in $g$. These $g$-expansions are summed by a Borel transformation, yielding an approximation to the ground-state energy for the region near the isotropic limit. …
Fisher information ($I$) is investigated in a confined harmonic oscillator (CHO) enclosed in a spherical enclosure, in conjugate $r$ and $p$ spaces. A comparative study between CHO and a free quantum particle in spherical box (PISB), as well as CHO and respective free harmonic oscillator (FHO) is pursued with respect to energy spectrum and $I$. This reveals that, a CHO offers two exactly solvable limits, namely, a PISB and an FHO. Moreover, the dependence of $I$ on quantum numbers $n_{r}, l, m$ in FHO and CHO are analogous. The role of force constant is discussed. Further, a thorough systemati…
Information based uncertainty measures like R{é}nyi entropy (R), Shannon entropy (S) and Onicescu energy (E) (in both position and momentum space) are employed to understand the influence of radial confinement in isotropic harmonic oscillator. The transformation of Hamiltonian in to a dimensionless form gives an idea of the composite effect of oscillation frequency ($ω$) and confinement radius ($r_{c}$). For a given quantum state, accurate results are provided by applying respective \emph{exact} analytical wave function in $r$ space. The $p$-space wave functions are produced from Fourier trans…
We investigate the nonrelativistic magnetic effect on the energy spectra, expectation values of some quantum mechanical observables and diamagnetic susceptibility for some diatomic molecules bounded by the Isotropic oscillator plus inverse quadratic potential. The energy eigenvalues and normalized wavefunctions are obtained via parametric Nikiforov-Uvarov method. The expectation values square of position r2, square of momentum p2, kinetic energy T and potential energy V are obtained by applying Hellmann-Feynman theorem and an expression for the diamagnetic susceptibility X is also derived. Usi…
A class of three-dimensional models which satisfy supersymmetric intertwining relations with the simplest - oscillator-like - variant of shape invariance is constructed. It is proved that the models are not amenable to conventional separation of variables for the complex potentials, but their spectra are real and equidistant (like for isotropic harmonic oscillator). The special case of such potential with quadratic interaction is solved completely. The Hamiltonian of the system is non-diagonalizable, and its wave functions and associated functions are built analytically. The symmetry propertie…
Generalized squeezing rotating-wave approximation (GSRWA) is proposed by employing both the displacement and the squeezing transformations. A solvable Hamiltonian is reformulated in the same form as the ordinary RWA ones. For a qubit coupled to oscillators experiment, a well-defined Schrödinger-cat-like entangled state is given by the displaced-squeezed oscillator state instead of the original displaced state. For the isotropic Rabi case, the mean photon number and the ground-state energy are expressed analytically with additional squeezing terms, exhibiting a substantial improvement of the GS…
The isotropic Dunkl oscillator model in the plane is investigated. The model is defined by a Hamiltonian constructed from the combination of two independent parabosonic oscillators. The system is superintegrable and its symmetry generators are obtained by the Schwinger construction using parabosonic creation/annihilation operators. The algebra generated by the constants of motion, which we term the Schwinger-Dunkl algebra, is an extension of the Lie algebra u(2) with involutions. The system admits separation of variables in both Cartesian and polar coordinates. The separated wavefunctions are …
The comparison of the Hamiltonians of the noncommutative isotropic harmonic oscillator and Landau problem are analysed to study the specific conditions under which these two models are indistinguishable. The energy eigenvalues and eigenstates of Landau problem in symmetric and two Landau gauges are evaluated analytically. The Hamiltonian of a noncommutative isotropic harmonic oscillator is found by using Bopp's shift in commutative coordinate space. The result shows that the two systems are isomorphic up to the similar values of $n_{r}$ and $m_{l}$ and $qB = eB > 0$ for both gauge choices. How…
The semiclassical treatment of the two-dimensional harmonic oscillator provides an instructive example of the relation between classical motion and the quantum mechanical energy spectrum. We extend previous work on the anisotropic oscillator with incommensurate frequencies and the isotropic oscillator to the case with commensurate frequencies for which the Lissajous curves appear as classical periodic orbits. Because of the three different scenarios depending on the ratio of its frequencies, the two-dimensional harmonic oscillator offers a unique way to explicitly analyze the role of symmetrie…
An N-dimensional position-dependent mass Hamiltonian (depending on a parameter λ) formed by a curved kinetic term and an intrinsic oscillator potential is considered. It is shown that such a Hamiltonian is exactly solvable for any real positive value of the parameter λ. Algebraically, this Hamiltonian can be thought of as a new maximally superintegrable λ-deformation of the N-dimensional isotropic oscillator and, from a geometric viewpoint, this system is just the intrinsic oscillator potential on an N-dimensional hyperbolic space with nonconstant curvature. The spectrum of this model is shown…
Magic numbers predicted by a 3-dimensional q-deformed harmonic oscillator with Uq(3)>SOq(3) symmetry are compared to experimental data for atomic clusters of alkali metals (Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs), noble metals (Cu, Ag, Au), divalent metals (Zn, Cd), and trivalent metals (Al, In), as well as to theoretical predictions of jellium models, Woods-Saxon and wine bottle potentials, and to the classification scheme using the 3n+l pseudo quantum number. In alkali metal clusters and noble metal clusters the 3-dimensional q-deformed harmonic oscillator correctly predicts all experimentally observed magic num…
The isotropic harmonic oscillator in N dimensions is shown to have an underlying symmetry group O(2,1)X O(N)which implies a unique result for the energy spectrum of the system. Raising and lowering operators analogous to those of the one-dimensional oscillator are given for each value of the angular momentum parameter. This allows the construction of an infinite number of coherent states to be carried out. In the N=1 case there is a twofold family of coherent states, a particular linear combination of which coincides with the single set already well known for that case. Wave functions are read…
We consider two three-dimensional isotropic harmonic oscillators interacting with the quantum electromagnetic field in the Coulomb gauge and within dipole approximation. Using a Bogoliubov-like transformation, we can obtain transformed operators such that the Hamiltonian of the system, when expressed in terms of these operators, assumes a diagonal form. We are also able to obtain an expression for the energy shift of the ground state, which is valid at all orders in the coupling constant. From this energy shift the nonperturbative Casimir-Polder potential energy between the two oscillators can…
The 2:1 two-dimensional anisotropic quantum harmonic oscillator is considered and new sets of states are defined by means of normal-ordering non-linear operators through the use of non-commutative binomial theorems as well as solving recurrence relations. The states generated are good candidates for the natural generalisation of the $\mathfrak{su}(2)$ coherent states of the two-dimensional isotropic oscillator. The two-dimensional non-linear generalised ladder operators lead to several chains of states which are connected in a non trivial way. The uncertainty relations of the defining chain of…
Magic numbers predicted by a 3-dimensional q-deformed harmonic oscillator with Uq(3) > SOq(3) symmetry are compared to experimental data for alkali metal clusters, as well as to theoretical predictions of jellium models, Woods--Saxon and wine bottle potentials, and to the classification scheme using the 3n+l pseudo quantum number. The 3-dimensional q-deformed harmonic oscillator correctly predicts all experimentally observed magic numbers up to 1500 (which is the expected limit of validity for theories based on the filling of electronic shells), thus indicating that Uq(3), which is a nonlinear…
The connection between Poincaré spheres for polariz-ation and Gaussian beams is explored, focusing on the interpretation of elliptic polarization in terms of the isotropic 2-dimensional harmonic oscillator in Hamiltonian mechanics, its canonical quantization and semiclassical interpretation. This leads to the interpretation of structured Gaussian modes, the Hermite-Gaussian, Laguerre-Gaussian and Generalized Hermite-Laguerre Gaussian modes as eigenfunctions of operators corresponding to the classical constants of motion of the 2-dimensional oscillator, which acquire an extra significance as fa…
