A master equation for the deformed quantum harmonic oscillator interacting with a dissipative environment, in particular with a thermal bath, is derived in the microscopic model by using perturbation theory, for the case when the interaction is deformed. The coefficients of the master equation and of equations of motion for observables depend on the deformation function. The steady state solution of the equation for the density matrix in the number representation is obtained and shown that it satisfies the detailed balance condition. The equilibrium energy of the deformed harmonic oscillator, calculated in the approximation of small deformation, does not depend on the deformation of interaction operators.
Using general construction of star-product the q-deformed Wigner-Weyl-Moyal quantization procedure is elaborated. The q-deformed Groenewold kernel determining the product of quantum observables is given in explicit form for small nonlinearities corresponding to nonlinear vibrations of classical and quantum q-oscillators. The deformations of Groenewold kernel related to general kinds of nonlinear vibrations described by f-oscillators are considered.
We analyze the quantization of the Pais-Uhlenbeck fourth order oscillator within the framework of deformation quantization. Our approach exploit the Noether symmetries of the system by proposing integrals of motion as the variables to obtain a solution to the -genvalue equation, namely the Wigner function. We also obtain, by means of a quantum canonical transformation the wave function associated to the Schrödinger equation of the system. We show that unitary evolution of the system is guaranteed by means of the quantum canonical transformation and via the properties of the constructed Wigner …
We propose a new approach to the quantization of the damped harmonic oscillator in the framework of deformation quantization. The quantization is performed in the Schrödinger picture by a star-product induced by a modified "Poisson bracket". We determine the eigenstates in the damped regime and compute the transition probability between states of the undamped harmonic oscillator after the system was submitted to dissipation.
We present a version of q-deformed calculus based on deformed counterparts of Darboux intertwining operators. The case in which the deformed transformation function is of the vacuum type is detailed, but the extension to counterparts of excited states used as Darboux transformation functions is also formally discussed. The method leads to second-order Fokker-Planck-like deformed operators which may be considered as supersymmetric partners, though for a sort of q-deformed open systems, i.e., those possessing q nonlocal drift terms, potential part, as well as q-spreaded vacuum fluctuations. The …
In this paper, we investigate the relation between the curvature of the physical space and the deformation function of the deformed oscillator algebra using non-linear coherent states approach. For this purpose, we study two-dimensional harmonic oscillators on the flat surface and on a sphere by applying the Higgs modell. With the use of their algebras, we show that the two-dimensional oscillator algebra on a surface can be considered as a deformed one-dimensional oscillator algebra where the effect of the curvature of the surface is appeared as a deformation function. We also show that the cu…
q-oscillators are associated to the simplest non-commutative example of Hopf algebra and may be considered to be the basic building blocks for the symmetry algebras of completely integrable theories. They may also be interpreted as a special type of spectral nonlinearity, which may be generalized to a wider class of f-oscillator algebras. In the framework of this nonlinear interpretation, we discuss the structure of the stochastic process associated to q-deformation, the role of the q-oscillator as a spectrum-generating algebra for fast growing point spectrum, the deformation of fermion operat…
Inspired by the works of [F. Caruso, New J. Phys. 16, 055015 (2014)] and [T. Scholak et al, J. Phys. B: At. Mol. Opt. Phys. 44 184012 (2011)], which state that for a large class of complex noisy networks, the optimal efficiency of quantum transport is universally obtained by mixing coherent (Hamiltonian) and incoherent (noisy) parts where the contribution of the coherent part is strictly more than incoherent one, we examine the effect of oscillatory deformations on two simple prototypes in order to study their effects on the efficiency of coherent and incoherent energy transport. The prototype…
A master equation for the deformed quantum harmonic oscillator interacting with a dissipative environment, in particular with a thermal bath, is derived in the microscopic model by using perturbation theory. The coefficients of the master equation and of equations of motion for observables depend on the deformation function. The steady state solution of the equation for the density matrix in the number representation is obtained and the equilibrium energy of the deformed harmonic oscillator is calculated in the approximation of small deformation.
By using a test-function method, we construct $n$ exact solutions of a quantum harmonic oscillator with a time-dependent "spring constant". Any $n$-th solution describes a wave-packet train consisting of $n+1$ packets. Its center oscillates like the classically harmonic oscillator with variable frequency, and width and highness of each packet change simultaneously. When the deformation is small, it behaves like a soliton train, and the large deformation is identified with collapse and revival of the wave-packet train.
In the framework of the Lindblad theory for open quantum systems, a master equation for the quantum harmonic oscillator interacting with a dissipative environment, in particular with a thermal bath, is derived for the case when the interaction is based on deformed algebra. The equations of motion for observables strongly depend on the deformation function. The expectation values of the number operator and squared number operator are calculated in the limit of a small deformation parameter for the case of zero temperature of the thermal bath. The steady state solution of the equation for the de…
Quantum correlations in compound systems are of great importance, and they are fundamental resource for the development of quantum computation protocols and quantum information. In this work we construct bipartite pure coherent states using the $f$-deformed oscillator formalism and the Barut-Girardello deformation function. Also we construct the extension of these systems to mixed states using Werner like states. For the states constructed, we study the dependence of the entanglement and quantum discord upon the deformation and mixed parameters.
The interaction of a quantum deformed oscillator with the environment is studied deriving a master equation whose form strongly depends on the type of deformation.
The q-deformation of harmonic oscillators is shown to lead to q-nonlinear vibrations. The examples of q-nonlinearized wave equation and Schrödinger equation are considered. The procedure is generalized to broader class of nonlinearities related to other types of deformations. The nonlinear noncanonical transforms used in the deformation procedure are shown to preserve in some cases the linear dynamical equations, for instance, for the harmonic oscillators. The nonlinear coherent states and some physical aspects of the deformations are reviewed.
We consider the relations between nonstationary quantum oscillators and their stationary counterpart in view of their applicability to study particles in electromagnetic traps. We develop a consistent model of quantum oscillators with time-dependent frequencies that are subjected to the action of a time-dependent driving force, and have a time-dependent zero point energy. Our approach uses the method of point transformations to construct the physical solutions of the parametric oscillator as mere deformations of the well known solutions of the stationary oscillator. In this form, the determina…
The unified $ (p,q; α,γ, l)$-deformation of a number of well-known deformed oscillator algebras is introduced. The deformation is constructed by imputing new free parameters into the structure functions and by generalizing the defining relations of these algebras. The generalized Jordan-Schwinger and Holstein-Primakoff realizations of the $U_{pq}^{αγl}(su(2))$ algebra by the generalized $ (p,q; α,γ, l)$-deformed operators are found. The generalized $ (p,q; α,γ, l)$-deformation of the two-dimensional conformal field theory is established. By introducing the $ (p,q; α,γ, l)$-operator product expa…
We obtain the eigenvalues of the harmonic oscillator in a space with a screw dislocation. By means of a suitable nonorthogonal basis set with variational parameters we obtain sufficiently accurate eigenvalues for an arbitrary range of values of the space-deformation parameter. The energies exhibit a rich structure of avoided crossings in terms of such model parameter.
A particle bounded in a potential with finite range is described by using an $f$-deformed quantum oscillator approach. Finite range of this potential can be considered as a controllable deformation parameter. The non-classical quantum statistical properties of this deformed oscillator can be manipulated by nonlinearities associated to the finite range.
We study the dynamics of one and two qubits plunged in a q-deformed oscillators environment. Specifically we evaluate the decay of quantum coherence and entanglement in time when passing from bosonic to fermionic environments. Slowing down of decoherence in the fermionic case is found. The effect only manifests at finite temperature.
We investigate the non-Markovian dynamics of a qubit-oscillator system embedded in a noisy environment by employing the hierarchical equations of motion approach. It is found that the decoherence rate of the whole qubit-oscillator-bath system can be significantly suppressed by enhancing the coupling strength between the qubit and the harmonic oscillator. Moreover, we find that the non-Markovian memory character of the bath is able to facilitate a robust quantum coherent dynamics in this qubit-oscillator-bath system. Our findings may be used to engineer some tunable coherent manipulations in me…
We analyze recent results for a harmonic oscillator in an environment with a pointlike defect. We show that the allowed oscillator frequencies predicted by the authors stem from a misinterpretation of the exact solutions of a conditionally solvable eigenvalue equation. Also the exact eigenvalues derived by those authors are meaningless because they belong to different quantum-mechanical models.
The paper shows mechanisms of both the pumping and energy decay of an "isolated" oscillator. The oscillator is only non-resonantly coupled with the adjacent oscillator which resonantly interacts with the thermal bath environment. Under these conditions the "isolated" oscillator begins interacting with the thermal bath environment of the adjacent oscillator. The conclusion is based on the kinetic equation derived relative to anti-rotating terms of the initial Hamiltonian, with the latter being the Hamiltonian of two oscillators and environment of one of them.
$C_λ$-extended oscillator algebras generalizing the Calogero-Vasiliev algebra, where $C_λ$ is the cyclic group of order $λ$, are studied both from mathematical and applied viewpoints. Casimir operators of the algebras are obtained, and used to provide a complete classification of their unitary irreducible representations under the assumption that the number operator spectrum is nondegenerate. Deformed algebras admitting Casimir operators analogous to those of their undeformed counterparts are looked for, yielding three new algebraic structures. One of them includes the Brzeziński {\em et al.} …
Spontaneous synchronization between coupled periodic systems occur in a wealth of classical physical setups. Here, we show theoretically that the phase of two distinct quantum harmonic oscillators spontaneously when they are strongly coupled to a common bosonic quantum dissipative environment at zero temperature, in the absence of any driving mechanism. To do so, we compute the dynamics of the oscillators with an exact master equation obtained from a path integral formalism. Above some value of the system-environment coupling strength, we observe numerically a strongly reduced damping and a fr…
White noise analysis is used to derive the propagator of an open quantum system consisting of a harmonic oscillator which is coupled to an environment consisting of N multimode harmonic oscillators. The quantum propagators are obtained after solving for the normal modes of the system-environment interaction in order to decouple the coordinates in the Lagrangian describing the dynamics of the system, the environment and their interaction with each other. The decoupled Lagrangian is then used in the path integral corresponding to the propagator of the system, with the path integral evaluated usi…
In this work we extend the discussion that was began in the Ref. [A. L. de Paula Jr., J. G. G. de Oliveira Jr., J. G. Peixoto de Faria, Dagoberto S. Freitas and M. C. Nemes, {\it Phys. Rev.} {\bf A89}, (2014) 022303] to deal with the dynamics of the concurrence of a many-body system. In that previous paper, the discussion was focused in the residual entanglement between the partitions of the system. The purpose of the present contribution is to shed some light on the dynamical properties of entanglement among the environment oscillators. We consider a system consisting of a harmonic oscillator…
For the two-parameter $p,q$-deformed Heisenberg algebra introduced recently and in which, instead of usual commutator of $X$ and $P$ in the l.h.s. of basic relation $[X,P] = {\rm i}\hbar$, one uses the $p,q$-commutator, we established interesting properties. Most important is the realizability of the $p,q$-deformed Heisenberg algebra by means of the appropriate deformed oscillator algebra. Another uncovered property is special extension of the usual mutual Hermitian conjugation of the creation and annihilation operators, namely the so-called $η(N)$-pseudo-Hermitian conjugation rule, along with…
In this paper, we study the dynamical properties of two coupled quantum harmonic oscillators coupled with bosonic non-Markovian environment both in position and momentum. We deduce the exact analytical master equation using Quantum State Diffusion method and give the quantum trajectory description when the control is added to the system by applying interaction between two harmonic oscillators. With numerical simulation, we compare the evolution of entanglement under different controlling effects. At last, we use nonlinear Quantum State Diffusion method to strengthen our above results by gettin…
We consider two separated oscillators initially in equilibrium and continuously interacting with thermal environments, and propose a way to entangle them using a mediating qubit. An appropriate interaction allows for an analytic treatment of the open system, removes the necessity of fine-tuning interaction times and results in a high tolerance of the entanglement to finite temperature. The entanglement thus produced between the oscillators can be verified either through a Bell inequality relying on oscillator parity measurements or through conditional extraction of the entanglement on to two m…
We study the entanglement evolution between two harmonic oscillators having different free frequencies each leaking into an independent bath. We use an exact solution valid in the weak coupling limit and in the short time non-Markovian regime. The reservoirs are identical and characterized by an Ohmic spectral distribution with Lorents-Drude cut-off. This work is an extension of the case reported in [Phys. Rev. A 80, 062324 (2009)] where the oscillators have the same free frequency.
We study the dissipative quantum harmonic oscillator with general non-thermal preparations of the harmonic oscillator bath. The focus is on equilibration of the oscillator in the long-time limit and the additional requirements for thermalization. Our study is based on the exact solution of the microscopic model obtained by means of operator equations of motion, which provides us with the time evolution of the central oscillator density matrix in terms of the propagating function. We find a hierarchy of conditions for thermalization, together with the relation of the asymptotic temperature to t…
In this paper we study some basic quantum confinement effects through investigation of a deformed harmonic oscillator algebra. We show that spatial confinement effects on a quantum harmonic oscillator can be represented by a deformation function within the framework of nonlinear coherent states theory. We construct the coherent states associated with the spatially confined quantum harmonic oscillator in a one-dimensional infinite well and examine some of their quantum statistical properties, including sub-poissonian statistics and quadrature squeezing.
In memory of Marcos Moshinsky, who promoted the algebraic study of the harmonic oscillator, some results recently obtained on an infinite family of deformations of such a system are reviewed. This set, which was introduced by Tremblay, Turbiner, and Winternitz, consists in some Hamiltonians $H_k$ on the plane, depending on a positive real parameter $k$. Two algebraic extensions of $H_k$ are described. The first one, based on the elements of the dihedral group $D_{2k}$ and a Dunkl operator formalism, provides a convenient tool to prove the superintegrability of $H_k$ for odd integer $k$. The se…
Liénard-type nonlinear one-dimensional oscillator is quantized using van Roos symmetric ordering recipe for the kinetic-like part of the new derived Hamiltonian. The corresponding Schrödinger equation is exactly solved in momuntum space via the approach of supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SUSYQM). The bound-states energy spectra and corresponding wave functions are given explicitly in terms of the ambiguity parameters. The limiting case of no deformation agrees exactly with the eigenenergies and eigenfunctions of the ordinary quantum harmonic oscillator.
Just as for the ordinary quantum harmonic oscillators, we expect the zero-point energy to play a crucial role in the correct high temperature behavior. We accordingly reformulate the theory of the statistical distribution function for the q-deformed boson oscillators and develop an approximate theory incorporating the zero-point energy. We are then able to demonstrate that for small deformations, the theory reproduces the correct limits both for very high temperatures and for very low temperatures. The deformed theory thus reduces to the undeformed theory in these extreme cases.
We provide a complete characterization of the evolution of entanglement between two oscillators coupled to a common environment. For initial Gaussian states we identify three phases with different qualitative long time behavior: There is a phase where entanglement undergoes a sudden death (SD). Another phase (SDR) is characterized by an infinite sequence of events of sudden death and revival of entanglement. In the third phase (NSD) there is no sudden death of entanglement, which persist for long time. The phase diagram is described and analytic expressions for the boundary between phases are …
This paper is dedicated to finding the quadrature operator eigenstates and wavefunctions of the most general $f$-deformed oscillators. A definition for quadrature operator for deformed algebra is derived to obtain the quadrature operator eigenstates. A new set of polynomials are obtained using this quadrature operator and these polynomials are used to find explicitly the wavefunctions of the deformed oscillators. We have plotted wavefunctions for three different types of deformations and compared it with the wavefunctions of the non-deformed oscillator. Our result will immensely help the resea…
We consider canonically conjugated generalized space and linear momentum operators $\hat{x}_q$ and $ \hat{p}_q$ in quantum mechanics, associated to a generalized translation operator which produces infinitesimal deformed displacements controlled by a deformation parameter $q$. A canonical transformation $(\hat{x}, \hat{p}) \rightarrow (\hat{x}_q, \hat{p}_q)$ leads the Hamiltonian of a position-dependent mass particle in usual space to another Hamiltonian of a particle with constant mass in a conservative force field of the deformed space. The equation of motion for the classical phase space $(…
Deformation of the Heisenberg-Weyl algebra and the Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{osp}\left( {1|2} \right)$: exact solution for the quantum harmonic oscillator with a position-dependent mass
A new model for the finite one-dimensional harmonic oscillator is proposed based upon the algebra u(2)_α. This algebra is a deformation of the Lie algebra u(2) extended by a parity operator, with deformation parameter α. A class of irreducible unitary representations of u(2)_α is constructed. In the finite oscillator model, the (discrete) spectrum of the position operator is determined, and the position wave functions are shown to be dual Hahn polynomials. Plots of these discrete wave functions display interesting properties, similar to those of the parabose oscillator. We show indeed that in …
Composite bosons (or quasibosons), as recently proven, are realizable by deformed oscillators and due to that can be effectively treated as particles of nonstandard statistics (deformed bosons). This enables us to study quasiboson states and their inter-component entanglement aspects using the well developed formalism of deformed oscillators. We prove that the internal entanglement characteristics for single two-component quasiboson are determined completely by the parameter(s) of deformation. The bipartite entanglement characteristics are generalized and calculated for arbitrary multi-quasibo…
We present two maximally superintegrable Hamiltonian systems ${\cal H}_λ$ and ${\cal H}_η$ that are defined, respectively, on an $N$-dimensional spherically symmetric generalization of the Darboux surface of type III and on an $N$-dimensional Taub-NUT space. Afterwards, we show that the quantization of ${\cal H}_λ$ and ${\cal H}_η$ leads, respectively, to exactly solvable deformations (with parameters $λ$ and $η$) of the two basic quantum mechanical systems: the harmonic oscillator and the Coulomb problem. In both cases the quantization is performed in such a way that the maximal superintegrab…
Recent studies show that deformations in quantum mechanics are inevitable. In this contribution, we consider a relativistic quantum mechanical differential equation in the presence of Dunkl operator-based deformation and we investigate solutions for two important problems in three-dimensional spatial space. To this end, after introducing the Dunkl quantum mechanics, we examine the Dunkl-Klein-Gordon oscillator solutions with the Cartesian and spherical coordinates. In both coordinate systems, we find that the differential equations are separable and their eigenfunctions can be given in terms o…
A 3-parametric two-sided deformation of Heisenberg algebra (HA), with p,q-deformed commutator in the l.h.s. of basic defining relation and certain deformation of its r.h.s., is introduced and studied. The third deformation parameter μappears in an extra term in the r.h.s. as pre-factor of Hamiltonian. For this deformation of HA we find novel properties. Namely, we prove it is possible to realize this (p,q,μ)-deformed HA by means of some deformed oscillator algebra. Also, we find the unusual property that the deforming factor μ in the considered deformed HA inevitably depends explicitly on part…
Nonlinear supercoherent states, which are eigenstates of nonlinear deformations of the Kornbluth-Zypman annihilation operator for the supersymmetric harmonic oscillator, will be studied. They turn out to be expressed in terms of nonlinear coherent states, associated to the corresponding deformations of the standard annihilation operator. We will discuss as well the Heisenberg uncertainty relation for a special particular case, in order to compare our results with those obtained for the Kornbluth-Zypman linear supercoherent states. As the supersymmetric harmonic oscillator executes an evolution…
We consider two independent bosonic oscillators immersed in a common bath, evolving in time with a completely positive, markovian, quasi-free (Gaussian) reduced dynamics. We show that an initially separated Gaussian state can become entangled as a result of a purely noisy mechanism. In certain cases, the dissipative dynamics allows the persistence of these bath induced quantum correlations even in the asymptotic equilibrium state.
We demonstrate that dynamical noncommutative space-time will give rise to deformed oscillator algebras. In turn, starting from some q-deformations of these algebras in a two dimensional space for which the entire deformed Fock space can be constructed explicitly, we derive the commutation relations for the dynamical variables in noncommutative space-time. We compute minimal areas resulting from these relations, i.e. finitely extended regions for which it is impossible to resolve any substructure in form of measurable knowledge. The size of the regions we find is determined by the noncommutativ…
We give an approach to open quantum systems based on formal deformation quantization. It is shown that classical open systems of a certain type can be systematically quantized into quantum open systems preserving the complete positivity of the open time evolution. The usual example of linearly coupled harmonic oscillators is discussed.
In this Letter, 2D Dirac oscillator in the quantum deformed framework generated by the $κ$-Poincaré-Hopf algebra is considered. The problem is formulated using the $κ$-deformed Dirac equation. The resulting theory reveals that the energies and wave functions of the oscillator are modified by the deformation parameter.
Recent experiments aim at cooling nanomechanical resonators to the ground state by coupling them to non-equilibrium environments in order to observe quantum effects such as entanglement. This raises the general question of how such environments affect entanglement. Here we show that there is an optimal dissipation strength for which the entanglement between two coupled oscillators is maximized. Our results are established with the help of a general framework of exact quantum Langevin equations valid for arbitrary bath spectra, in and out of equilibrium. We point out why the commonly employed L…
A minimal observable length is a common feature of theories that aim to merge quantum physics and gravity. Quantum mechanically, this concept is associated to a nonzero minimal uncertainty in position measurements, which is encoded in deformed commutation relations. In spite of increasing theoretical interest, the subject suffers from the complete lack of dedicated experiments and bounds to the deformation parameters are roughly extrapolated from indirect measurements. As recently proposed, low-energy mechanical oscillators could allow to reveal the effect of a modified commutator. Here we ana…
In this paper it is studied the influence of a minimal thermal environment on the dynamics of a quantum harmonic oscillator (labelled A), prepared in a coherent state. The environment itself consists of a second oscillator (labelled B), initially in a thermal state. Two types of interaction Hamiltonians are considered, and the time-evolution of the reduced density operator of oscillator A is compared to the one obtained from the usual master equation approach, i.e., assuming that oscillator A is coupled to a large reservoir. An analysis of the linear entropy evolution of oscillator A shows tha…
We study two continuous variable systems (or two harmonic oscillators) and investigate their entanglement evolution under the influence of non-Markovian thermal environments. The continuous variable systems could be two modes of electromagnetic fields or two nanomechanical oscillators in the quantum domain. We use quantum open system method to derive the non-Markovian master equations of the reduced density matrix for two different but related models of the continuous variable systems. The two models both consist of two interacting harmonic oscillators. In model A, each of the two oscillators …
In this contribution it is considered a simple and solvable model consisting of a qubit in interaction with an oscillator exposed to a very small "environment" (a second qubit). An isolated qubit-oscillator system having the oscillator initially in one of its energy eigenstates exhibits Rabi oscillations, an evidence of coherent quantum behaviour. It is shown here in which way the coupling to a small "environment" disrupts such regular behaviour, leading to a quasi-periodic dynamics for the qubit linear entropy. In particular, it is found that the linear entropy is very sensitive to the amount…
In this paper we derive an exact master equation for two coupled quantum harmonic oscillators interacting via bilinear coupling with a common environment at arbitrary temperature made up of many harmonic oscillators with a general spectral density function. We first show a simple derivation based on the observation that the two-harmonic oscillator model can be effectively mapped into that of a single harmonic oscillator in a general environment plus a free harmonic oscillator. Since the exact one harmonic oscillator master equation is available [Hu, Paz and Zhang, Phys. Rev. D \textbf{45}, 284…
Feshbach-Villars Hamiltonian Approach to the Klein-Gordon Oscillator and Supercritical Step Scattering in Standard and Generalized Doubly Special Relativity
We show that the position operator for a class of $f$-deformed oscillators has a fractal spectrum, homeomorphic to the Cantor set, via a unitary transformation to Harper's model. The class corresponds to a choice of ergodic operators for the deformation function. Hofstadter's butterfly is plotted by direct diagonalization of a position operator with an originally vanishing diagonal. This is equivalent to a one-dimensional hamiltonian without potential.
