We investigate the equivalence of quantum states under local unitary transformations. A complete set of invariants under local unitary transformations is presented for a class of non-generic three-qubit mixed states. It is shown that two such states in this class are locally equivalent if and only if all these invariants have equal values for them.

We investigate the groups generated by the sets of $CP$, $CNOT$ and $SWAP^α$ (power-of-SWAP) quantum gate operations acting on $n$ qubits. Isomorphisms to standard groups are found, and using techniques from representation theory, we are able to determine the invariant subspaces of the $n-$qubit Hilbert space under the action of each group. For the $CP$ operation, we find isomorphism to the direct product of $n(n-1)/2$ cyclic groups of order $2$, and determine $2^n$ $1$-dimensional invariant subspaces corresponding to the computational state-vectors. For the $CNOT$ operation, we find isomorphi…
We derive an integral expression for the filter-transfer function of an arbitrary one-qubit gate through the use of dynamical invariant theory and Hamiltonian reverse engineering. We use this result to define a cost function which can be efficiently optimized to produce one-qubit control pulses that are robust against specified frequency bands of the noise power spectral density. We demonstrate the utility of our result by generating optimal control pulses that are designed to suppress broadband detuning and pulse amplitude noise. We report an order of magnitude improvement in gate fidelity in…
We extend recent work on a leakage-protected, adiabatic entangling gate for exchange-only spin qubits [Doherty and Wardrop, PRL 111, 050503 (2013)] by adapting to a setting where single spins are not assumed to be polarized on preparation. Previous gate constructions do not function correctly when "gauge spins" are uninitialized, because the entangling gate has different, non-trivial action in different gauge subspaces. Our construction inherits many of the desirable features of the previous work while addressing the gauge-dependent behavior. Using numerical simulation, we show that the result…
We propose a protocol to realize nonadiabatic geometric quantum computation of small-amplitude Schrödinger cat qubits via invariant-based reverse engineering. We consider a system with a two-photon driven Kerr nonlinearity, which provides a pair of dressed even and odd coherent states, i.e., Schrödinger cat states for fault-tolerant quantum computations. An additional coherent field is applied to linearly drive a cavity mode, to induce oscillations between dressed cat states. By designing this linear drive with invariant-based reverse engineering, nonadiabatic geometric quantum computation wit…
The $k$-ME concurrence as a measure of multipartite entanglement (ME) unambiguously detects all $k$-nonseparable states in arbitrary dimensions, and satisfies many important properties of an entanglement measure. Negativity is a simple computable bipartite entanglement measure. Invariant and tangle are useful tools to study the properties of the quantum states. In this paper we mainly investigate the internal relations among the $k$-ME concurrence, negativity, polynomial invariants, and tangle. Strong links between $k$-ME concurrence and negativity as well as between $k$-ME concurrence and pol…
We provide a method to write down the density operator for any pure state of multi-qubit systems in the multiparticle spacetime algebra (MSTA) introduced by Doran, Gull, and Lasenby. Using the MSTA formulation, we analyze several aspects of quantum mechanics in a geometrical way including the Bell inequality and the dynamics of two coupled qubits. Lastly, we provide a natural way to construct the local unitary invariants in the MSTA. Using these invariants, we analyze the space of the two-qubit and three-qubit pure states with local and non-local degrees of freedom separated.
Dynamical properties of a resonator can be analyzed using the Rayleigh-Lorentz invariant which is not an exact constant but varies more or less over time. We investigate the time behavior of this invariant for a flux qubit resonator in order for better understanding of qubit-information detection with the resonator. Flux qubit resonators can be utilized in implementing diverse next generation nano-optic and nano-electronic devices such as quantum computing systems. Through the analyses of the temporal evolution of the invariant, we derive a condition for optimal adiabatic qubit-information det…
