The hydrodynamical model of quantum mechanics based on the Schroedinger equation is combined with the magnetohydrodynamical term to form so called quantum magnetohydrodynamic equation. It is shown that the quantum correction to the Alfven waves follows from this new equation. The possible generalization is considered for the so called nonlinear Schroedinger equation and for the situation where dissipation is described by the Navier-Stokes equation.
Entropy is one of the most basic concepts in thermodynamics and statistical mechanics. The most widely used definition of statistical mechanical entropy for a quantum system is introduced by von Neumann. While in classical systems, the statistical mechanical entropy is defined by Gibbs. The relation between these two definitions of entropy is still not fully explored. In this work, we study this problem by employing the phase-space formulation of quantum mechanics. For those quantum states having well-defined classical counterparts, we study the quantum-classical correspondence and quantum cor…
Many applications of quantum information processing (QIP) require distribution of quantum states in networks, both within and between distant nodes. Optical quantum states are uniquely suited for this purpose, as they propagate with ultralow attenuation and are resilient to ubiquitous thermal noise. Mechanical systems are then envisioned as versatile interfaces between photons and a variety of solid-state QIP platforms. Here, we demonstrate a key step towards this vision, and generate entanglement between two propagating optical modes, by coupling them to the same, cryogenic mechanical system.…
Mechanical resonators are emerging as an important new platform for quantum science and technologies. A large number of proposals for using them to store, process, and transduce quantum information motivates the development of increasingly sophisticated techniques for controlling mechanical motion in the quantum regime. By interfacing mechanical resonators with superconducting circuits, circuit quantum acoustodynamics (cQAD) can make a variety of important tools available for manipulating and measuring motional quantum states. Here we demonstrate direct measurements of the phonon number distri…
Recent progress in observing and manipulating mechanical oscillators at quantum regime provides new opportunities of studying fundamental physics, for example, to search for low energy signatures of quantum gravity. For example, it was recently proposed that such devices can be used to test quantum gravity effects, by detecting the change in the [x,p] commutation relation that could result from quantum gravity corrections. We show that such a correction results in a dependence of a resonant frequency of a mechanical oscillator on its amplitude, which is known as amplitude-frequency effect. By …
Due to the fragility of quantum mechanical effects, real quantum computers are plagued by frequent noise effects that cause errors during computations. Quantum error-correcting codes address this problem by providing means to identify and correct corresponding errors. However, most of the research on quantum error correction is theoretical or has been evaluated for specific hardware models only. Moreover, the development of corresponding codes and the evaluation of whether they indeed solve the problem for a particular hardware model, still often rests on tedious trial-and-error thus far. In t…
Recent research in the geometric formulation of quantum theory has implied that Weyl Geometry can be used to merge quantum theory and general relativity consistently as classical field theories. In the Weyl Geometric framework, it seems that both quantum theory and gravity can merge consistently, once quantum theory is geometrized. The extended differential geometry can modify the quantum mechanical results into a more general nonlinear framework. Author shows that, how the extended differential geometry modifies the known quantum equations and also the modification to the Maxwell's electromag…
Generalized Dirac equation containing vacuum-mass contribution is introduced. The vacuum-mass contribution arises due to the coupling of quantum mechanical matter field with the vacuum field. Vacuum stress energy tensor arises in the Scalar-Tensor Field equation (Extended Einstein's Field equation), implies a mass like corrections to the newly formulated Dirac equation. Apart from the inertial mass of the electron, generalized Dirac equation proposed here, contains a mass-term as a result of vacuum field coupling.
Precisely engineered mechanical oscillators keep time, filter signals, and sense motion, making them an indispensable part of today's technological landscape. These unique capabilities motivate bringing mechanical devices into the quantum domain by interfacing them with engineered quantum circuits. Proposals to combine microwave-frequency mechanical resonators with superconducting devices suggest the possibility of powerful quantum acoustic processors. Meanwhile, experiments in several mechanical systems have demonstrated quantum state control and readout, phonon number resolution, and phonon-…

The stable operation of quantum computers will rely on error-correction, in which single quantum bits of information are stored redundantly in the Hilbert space of a larger system. Such encoded qubits are commonly based on arrays of many physical qubits, but can also be realized using a single higher-dimensional quantum system, such as a harmonic oscillator. A powerful encoding is formed from a periodically spaced superposition of position eigenstates. Various proposals have been made for realizing approximations to such states, but these have thus far remained out of reach. Here, we demonstra…
In this work, we develop a space-time block code for noncoherent communication using techniques from the field of quantum error correction. We decompose the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel into operators from quantum mechanics, and design a non-coherent space time code using the quantum stabilizer formalism. We derive an optimal decoder, and analyze the former through a quantum mechanical lens. We compare our approach to a comparable coherent approach and a noncoherent differential approach, achieving comparable or better performance.
We give a broad generalisation of the mapping, originally due to Dennis, Kitaev, Landahl and Preskill, from quantum error correcting codes to statistical mechanical models. We show how the mapping can be extended to arbitrary stabiliser or subsystem codes subject to correlated Pauli noise models, including models of fault tolerance. This mapping connects the error correction threshold of the quantum code to a phase transition in the statistical mechanical model. Thus, any existing method for finding phase transitions, such as Monte Carlo simulations, can be applied to approximate the threshold…
Several experimental groups reported the evidence of multiple periodic modulations of nuclear decay constants which amplitudes are of the order .1% and periods of one year, 24 hours or about one month. We argue that such deviations from radioactive decay law can be described in nonlinear quantum mechanics framework, in which decay process obeys to nonlinear Shroedinger equation with Doebner-Goldin terms. Proposed corrections to Hamiltonian of quantum system interaction with gravitation field correspond to some emergent gravity theories, in particular, bilocal gravity model. Decay parameter var…
