This paper is concerned with all tests for continuous-variable entanglement that arise from linear combinations of second moments or variances of canonical coordinates, as they are commonly used in experiments to detect entanglement. All such tests for bi-partite and multi-partite entanglement correspond to hyperplanes in the set of second moments. It is shown that all optimal tests, those that are most robust against imperfections with respect to some figure of merit for a given state, can be constructed from solutions to semi-definite optimization problems. Moreover, we show that for each such test, referred to as entanglement witness based on second moments, there is a one-to-one correspondence between the witness and a stronger product criterion, which amounts to a non-linear witness, based on the same measurements. This generalizes the known product criteria. The presented tests are all applicable also to non-Gaussian states. To provide a service to the community, we present the documentation of two numerical routines, FULLYWIT and MULTIWIT, which have been made publicly available.
We study entanglement witness and present a construction of entanglement witnesses in terms of the mutually unbiased measurements (MUMs). These witnesses include the entanglement witnesses constructed from mutually unbiased bases (MUBs) as a special case. Comparing with the dimension dependence of MUBs, the witnesses can be always constructed from a complete set of $d+1$ MUMs for any dimension $d$. We show that our witness can detect entanglement better than previous separability criterion given also by MUMs. And the approach can be experimentally implemented.
Entanglement witness is a Hermitian operator that is useful for detecting the genuine multipartite entanglement of mixed states. Nonlinear entanglement witnesses have the advantage of a wider detection range in the entangled region. We construct genuine entanglement witnesses for four qubits density matrices in the mutually unbiased basis. First, we find the convex feasible region with positive partial transpose states. Then, to reveal the entangled regions, we present some appropriate linear entanglement witnesses and, we find the envelope of this family of linear witnesses as a nonlinear wit…
The ultrafine entanglement witness, introduced in [F. Shahandeh, M. Ringbauer, J.C. Loredo, and T.C. Ralph, Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{118}, 110502 (2017)], can seamlessly and easily improve any standard entanglement witness. In this paper, by combining the constraint and the test operators, we rotate the hyperplane determined by the test operator and improve further the original ultrafine entanglement witness. In particular, we present a series of new ultrafine entanglement witnesses, which not only can detect entangled states that the original ultrafine entanglement witnesses cannot detect, bu…
We study entanglement witness and present a construction of entanglement witnesses in terms of the symmetric informationally complete measurements (SIC-POVM). The capability of our witness is shown by some examples and it can be found this witness detects more entanglement than previous separability method given also by SIC-POVM. What's more, comparing with the dimension dependence of SIC-POVM, we also give the entanglement witnesses can be always constructed from general symmetric informationally complete measurements (GSIC-POVM).
Entanglement witnesses (EWs) are a fundamental tool for the detection of entanglement. We investigate the inertias of bipartite EWs constructed by the partial transpose of NPT states. Furthermore, we find out most of the inertias of the patial transpose of the two-qutrit bipartite NPT states. As an application, we extend our results to high dimensional states.
It is shown that the enhanced (nonlinear) realignment criterion is equivalent to the family of linear criteria based on correlation tensor. These criteria generalize the original (linear) realignment criterium and give rise to the family of entanglement witnesses. An appropriate limiting procedure is proposed which leads to a novel class of witnesses which are as powerful as the enhanced realignment criterion.
Optomechanical systems open new possibilities in fundamental research at the interface between quantum information and gravity. Recently, an ambitious experimental proposal was suggested by Bose et al. to measure the entanglement between two optomechanical systems generated by their gravitational interaction. The scheme relies on witnessing entanglement between the two systems. Here we develop a general framework to study the quality of bipartite entanglement witnesses using fidelity witnesses. We then apply this framework to the gravitational entanglement proposal, optimizing for the detectio…
We provide a class of entanglement witnesses constructed in terms of Mutually Unbiased Bases (MUBs). This construction reproduces many well-known examples like the celebrated reduction map and Choi map together with its generalizations. We illustrated our construction by the detailed analysis of the 3-dimensional case: in this case, one obtains a family of entanglement witnesses parameterized by an L-dimensional torus (L = 2,3,4 being a number of MUBs used in the construction).
The entanglement witness is an important and experimentally applicable tool for entanglement detection. In this paper, we provide a nonlinear improvement of any entanglement witness for $2\otimes d$ quantum systems. Compared with any existing entanglement witness, the improved separability criterion only needs two more measurements on local observables. Detailed examples are employed to illustrate the efficiency of the nonlinear improvement for general, optimal and non-decomposable entanglement witnesses.
Two classes of Bell diagonal indecomposable entanglement witnesses in $\mathbb{C}^4 \otimes \mathbb{C}^4$ are considered. Within the first class, we find a generalization of the well-known Choi witness from $\mathbb{C}^3 \otimes \mathbb{C}^3$, while the second one contains the reduction map. Interestingly, contrary to $\mathbb{C}^3 \otimes \mathbb{C}^3$ case, the generalized Choi witnesses are no longer optimal. We perform an optimization procedure of finding spanning vectors, that eventually gives rise to optimal witnesses. Operators from the second class turn out to be optimal, however, with…
Entanglement in multipartite systems is a key resource for quantum information and communication protocols, making its verification in complex systems a necessity. Because an exact calculation of arbitrary entanglement probes is impossible, we derive and implement a numerical method to construct multipartite witnesses to uncover entanglement in arbitrary systems. Our technique is based on a substantial generalization of the power iteration, an essential tool for computing eigenvalues, and it is a solver for the separability eigenvalue equations, enabling the general formulation of optimal enta…
