We calculate the entanglement between a pair of polarization-entangled photon beams as a function of the reference frame, in a fully relativistic framework. We find the transformation law for helicity basis states and show that, while it is frequency independent, a Lorentz transformation on a momentum-helicity eigenstate produces a momentum-dependent phase. This phase leads to changes in the reduced polarization density matrix, such that entanglement is either decreased or increased, depending on the boost direction, the rapidity, and the spread of the beam.
I want to show situations in which causal relation of two events is entangled and similar to time paradox, without employing time machines. Such situations will be obtained in measurement by two measurement devices moving mutually. According to the concept of the collapse of wave packet and the relativity of simultaneity, the causal relation of two measurements can be entangled.
We discuss a mechanism of generating two separable beams of light with high degree of entanglement in momentum using a fast and sharp optical boundary. Three regimes of light generation are identified depending on the number of resonant interactions between the optical perturbation and the electromagnetic field. The intensity of the process is discussed in terms of the relevant physical parameters: variation of refractive index and apparent velocity of the optical boundary. Our results suggest a different class of generation entangled light robust against thermal degradation by exciting zero p…
We perform numerical tests on quantum nonlocality of two-level quantum systems (qubits) observed by a uniformly moving observer. Under a suitable momentum setting, the quantum nonlocality of two-qubit nonmaximally entangled states could be weakened drastically by the Lorentz transformation allowing for the existence of local-hidden-variable models, whereas three-qubit genuinely entangled states are robust. In particular, the generalized GHZ state remains nonlocal under arbitrary Wigner rotation and the generalized W state could admit local-hidden-variable models within a rather narrow range of…
We study the properties of quantum information and quantum entanglement in moving frames. We show that the entanglement between the spins and the momenta of two particles can be interchanged under a Lorentz transformation, so that a pair of particles that is entangled in spin but not momentum in one reference frame, may, in another frame, be entangled in momentum at the expense of spin-entanglement. Similarly, entanglement between momenta may be transferred to spin under a Lorentz transformation. While spin and momentum entanglement each is not Lorentz invariant, the joint entanglement of the …
The distillability of bipartite entangled state as seen by moving observers has been investigated. It is found that the same initial entanglement for a state parameter $α$ and its "normalized partner" $\sqrt{1-α^2}$ will be degraded as seen by moving observer. It is shown that in the ultra relativistic limit, the state does not have distillable entanglement for any $α$.
The entanglement between spins of a pair of particles may change because the spin and momentum become mixed when viewed by a moving observer [R.M. Gingrich and C. Adami, Phys. Rev. Lett. 89, 270402 (2002)]. In this paper, it is shown that, if the momenta are appropriately entangled, the entanglement between the spins of the Bell states can remain maximal when viewed by any moving observer. Further, we suggest a relativistic-invariant protocol for quantum communication, with which the non-relativistic quantum information theory could be invariantly applied to relativistic situations.
We investigate quantum strategy in moving frames by considering Prisoner's Dilemma and propose four thresholds of $γ$ for two players to determine their \textit{Nash Equilibria}. Specially, an interesting phenomenon appears in relativistic situation that the quantum feature of the game would be enhanced and diminished for different players whose particle's initial spin direction are respectively parallel and antiparallel to his/her movement direction, that is, for the former the quantum feature of the game is enhanced while for the latter the quantum feature would be diminished. Thus a classic…
We investigate how the polarization correlations of entangled photons described by wave packets are modified when measured by moving detectors. For this purpose, we analyze the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt Bell inequality as a function of the apparatus velocity. Our analysis is motivated by future experiments with entangled photons designed to use satellites. This is a first step towards the implementation of quantum information protocols in a global scale.
Relativistic bipartite entangled quantum states is studied to show that Nature doesn't favor nonlocality for massive particles in the ultra-relativistic limit. We found that to an observer (Bob) in a moving frame S', the entangled Bell state shared by Alice and Bob appears as the superposition of the Bell bases in the frame S' due to the requirement of the special relativity. It is shown that the entangled pair satisfies the Bell's inequality when the boost speed approaches the speed of light, thus providing a counter example for nonlocality of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen(EPR) paradox.
An entangled quantum state of two or more particles or objects exhibits some of the most peculiar features of quantum mechanics. Entangled systems cannot be described independently of each other even though they may have an arbitrarily large spatial separation. Reconciling this property with the inherent uncertainty in quantum states is at the heart of some of the most famous debates in the development of quantum theory. Nonetheless, entanglement nowadays has a solid theoretical and experimental foundation, and it is the crucial resource behind many emerging quantum technologies. Entanglement …
We present a scheme for cavity-assisted generation of hybrid entanglement between a moving mirror belonging to an optomechanical cavity and a single trapped ion located inside a second cavity. Due to radiation pressure, it is possible to entangle the moving mirror with one of the cavity fields. Also, by tuning the second cavity field with the internal degrees of freedom of the ion, an entangled state of the cavity field/ion can be independently generated. The fields leaking from each cavity are then combined in a beam-splitter, and following the detection of the outgoing photons by convenientl…
We consider the quantum teleportation of continuous variables modeled by Unruh-DeWitt detectors coupled to a common quantum field initially in the Minkowski vacuum. An unknown coherent state of an Unruh-DeWitt detector is teleported from one inertial agent (Alice) to an almost uniformly accelerated agent (Rob, for relativistic motion), using a detector pair initially entangled and shared by these two agents. The averaged physical fidelity of quantum teleportation, which is independent of the observer's frame, always drops below the best fidelity value from classical teleportation before the de…
An open question in the field of relativistic quantum information is how parties in arbitrary motion may distribute and store quantum entanglement. We propose a scheme for storing quantum information in the field modes of cavities moving in flat space-time and analyze it in a quantum field theoretical framework. In contrast to previous work that found entanglement degradation between observers moving with uniform acceleration, we find the quantum information in such systems is protected. We further discuss a method for establishing the entanglement in the first place and show that in principle…
The dynamics of a general two qubits system in noninetrial frame is investigated analytically, where it is assumed that both of its subsystems are differently accelerated. Two classes of initial travelling states are considered:self transposed and a generic pure states. The entanglement contained in all possible generated entangled channels between the qubits and their Anti-qubits is quantified. The usefulness of the travelling channels as quantum channels to perform quantum teleportation is investigated. For the self transposed classes, we show that the generalized Werner state is the most ro…
In this paper we provide an analytical investigation of the entanglement dynamics of moving qubits dissipating into a common and (in general) non-Markovian environment for both weak and strong coupling regimes. We first consider the case of two moving qubits in a common environment and then generalize it to an arbitrary number of moving qubits. We show that for an initially entangled state, the environment washes out the initial entanglement after a finite interval of time. We also show that the movement of the qubits can play a constructive role in protecting of the initial entanglement. In t…
An experimental test of relativistic wave-packet collapse is presented. The tested model assumes that the collapse takes place in the reference frame determined by the massive measuring detectors. Entangled photons are measured at 10 km distance within a time interval of less than 5 ps. The two apparatuses are in relative motion so that both detectors, each in its own inertial reference frame, are first to perform the measurement. The data always reproduces the quantum correlations and thus rule out a class of collapse models. The results also set a lower bound on the "speed of quantum informa…
A helicity entangled tripartite state is considered in which the degree of entanglement is preserved in non-inertial frames. It is shown that Quantum Entanglement remains observer independent. As another measure of quantum correlation, Quantum Discord has been investigated. It is explicitly shown that acceleration has no effect on the degree of quantum correlation for the bipartite and tripartite helicity entangled states. Geometric Quantum Discord as a Hilbert-Schmidt distance is computed for helicity entangled states. It is shown that living in non-inertial frames does not make any influence…
We propose an alignment-free two-party polarization-entanglement transmission scheme for entangled photons by using only linear-optical elements, requiring neither ancillary photons nor calibrated reference frames. The scheme is robust against both the random channel noise and the instability of reference frames, and it is subsequently extended to multi-party Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state transmission. Furthermore, the success probabilities for two- and multi-party entanglement transmission are, in principle, improved to unity when active polarization controllers are used. The distinct cha…
We study the transformation of maximally entangled states under the action of Lorentz transformations in a fully relativistic setting. By explicit calculation of the Wigner rotation, we describe the relativistic analog of the Bell states as viewed from two inertial frames moving with constant velocity with respect to each other. Though the finite dimensional matrices describing the Lorentz transformations are non-unitary, each single particle state of the entangled pair undergoes an effective, momentum dependent, local unitary rotation, thereby preserving the entanglement fidelity of the bipar…
Quantum entanglement lies at the heart of quantum mechanics and quantum information processing. In this work, we show a new framework where entangled states play the role of witnesses. We extend the notion of entanglement witnesses, developing a hierarchy of witnesses for classes of observables. This hierarchy captures the fact that entangled states act as witnesses for detecting entanglement witnesses and separable states act as witnesses for the set of non-block-positive Hermitian operators. Indeed, more hierarchies of witnesses exist. We introduce the concept of \emph{finer} and \emph{optim…
We obtain the necessary and sufficient separability and distillability conditions of mixtures of a maximally entangled state and the completely separable state in relativistic setting. In an inertial frame we study the entanglement under Wigner rotations induced by Lorentz transformations. We also investigate the mixed state entanglement of scalar and Dirac fields as seen by two relatively accelerated observers. For scalar field we show that in infinite acceleration limit the state has no longer distillable entanglement. For dirac field the entanglement in the infinite acceleration limit is fi…
The relativistic version of the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger experiment with massive particles is proposed. We point out that, in the moving frame, GHZ correlations of spins in original directions transfer to different directions due to the Wigner rotation. Its effect on the degree of violation of Bell-type inequality is also discussed.
We illustrate the description of correlated subsystems by studying the simple two-body Hydrogen atom. We study the entanglement of the electron and proton coordinates in the exact analytical solution. This entanglement, which we quantify in the framework of the density matrix formalism, describes correlations in the electron-proton motion.
We describe a new method of coherent optical control of internal dynamics of atomic collisions by means of two correlated light beams having entangled polarizations. We show that if excitation of a colliding pair of atoms is by two photons having entangled polarizations, it is possible to redirect the output fragments of the collision into certain channels with a selected type of internal transition symmetry. The transition symmetry is defined in the body-fixed coordinate frame which has random and originally unknown orientation in space.
The formula for the correlation function of spin measurements of two particles in two moving inertial frames is derived within Lorentz-covariant quantum-mechanics formulated in the absolute synchronization framework. The results are the first exact Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen correlation functions obtained for Lorentz-covariant quantum-mechanical system in moving frames under physically acceptable conditions, i.e., taking into account the localization of the particles during the detection and using the spin opeartor with proper transformation properties under the action of the Lorentz group. Some …
Absolutely maximally entangled (AME) states are multipartite entangled states that are maximally entangled for any possible bipartition. In this paper, we study the description of AME states within the graph state formalism. The graphical representation provides an intuitive framework to visualize the entanglement in graph states, which makes them a natural candidate to describe AME states. We show two different methods of determining bipartite entanglement in graph states and use them to define various AME graph states. We further show that AME graph states exist for all number of parties, an…
We address the question: Given an arbitrary initial state and a general physical interaction what is the minimum time for reaching a target entangled state? We show that the minimum time is inversely proportional to the quantum mechanical uncertainty in the non-local Hamiltonian. We find that the presence of initial entanglement helps to minimize the waiting time. Furthermore, we find that in a bi-local rotating frame the entangling capability is actually a geometric quantity. We give an universal bound for the time average of entanglement rate for general quantum systems. The time average of …
The nonlocal action of a measurement performed on a quantum entangled particle can determine the quantum state of a distant entangled particle instantly. Since the relativistic simultaneity of events is frame dependent therefore, a physically valid question arises, does the nonlocal action at a distance determine the quantum state of the distant particle in its past, when quantum state collapse is observed from a different inertial frame of reference? From the relativity of simultaneity, Lorentz invariance of the quantum entangled state of photons under consideration and the validity of Bell's…
Tracking the kinematics of fast-moving objects is an important diagnostic tool for science and engineering. Existing optical methods include high-speed CCD/CMOS imaging, streak cameras, lidar, serial time-encoded imaging and sequentially timed all-optical mapping. Here, we demonstrate an entirely new approach to positional and directional sensing based on the concept of classical entanglement in vector beams of light. The measurement principle relies on the intrinsic correlations existing in such beams between transverse spatial modes and polarization. The latter can be determined from intensi…
Single photon avalanche diode arrays can provide both the spatial and temporal information of each detected photon. We present here the characterization of entangled light with a sensor specifically designed for quantum imaging applications. The sensors is time-tagging each detection events at the pixel level with sub-nanosecond accuracy, within frames of 50 ns. The spatial correlations between any number of detections in a defined temporal window can thus be directly extracted from the data. We show the ability of the sensor to characterize space-momentum entangled photon pairs emitted by spo…
We show that communication without a shared reference frame is possible using entangled states. Both classical and quantum information can be communicated with perfect fidelity without a shared reference frame at a rate that asymptotically approaches one classical bit or one encoded qubit per transmitted qubit. We present an optical scheme to communicate classical bits without a shared reference frame using entangled photon pairs and linear optical Bell state measurements.
An entangled two-mode coherent state is studied within the framework of $2\times 2$ dimensional Hilbert space. An entanglement concentration scheme based on joint Bell-state measurements is worked out. When the entangled coherent state is embedded in vacuum environment, its entanglement is degraded but not totally lost. It is found that the larger the initial coherent amplitude, the faster entanglement decreases. We investigate a scheme to teleport a coherent superposition state while considering a mixed quantum channel. We find that the decohered entangled coherent state may be useless for qu…
We study special relativistic effects on the entanglement between either spins or momenta of composite quantum systems of two spin-1/2 massive particles, either indistinguishable or distinguishable, in inertial reference frames in relative motion. For the case of indistinguishable particles, we consider a balanced scenario where the momenta of the pair are well-defined but not maximally entangled in the rest frame while the spins of the pair are described by a one-parameter ($η$) family of entangled bipartite states. For the case of distinguishable particles, we consider an unbalanced scenario…
Building on the well-known Unruh-Davies effect, we examine the effects of projective measurements and quantum communications between accelerated and stationary observers. We find that the projective measurement by a uniformly accelerated observer can excite real particles from the vacuum in the inertial frame, even if no additional particles are created by the measurement process in the accelerating frame. Furthermore, we show that the particles created by this accelerating measurement can be highly entangled in the inertial frame, and it is also possible to use this process to generate even m…
Quantum entangled states of light are essential for quantum technologies and fundamental tests of physics. While quantum information science has relied on systems with entanglement in 2D degrees of freedom, e.g. quantum bits with polarization states, the field is moving towards ever-higher dimensions of entanglement. Increasing the dimensionality enhances the channel capacity and security of quantum communication protocols, gives rise to exponential speed-up of quantum computation, and is necessary for quantum imaging. Yet, characterization of even bipartite quantum states of high-dimensional …
Einstein`s equivalence principle states the complete physical equivalence of a gravitational field and corresponding inertial field in an accelerated reference frame. However, to what extent the equivalence principle remains valid in non-relativistic quantum mechanics is a controversial issue. To avoid violation of the equivalence principle, Bargmann`s superselection rule forbids a coherent superposition of states with different masses. Here we suggest a quantum simulation of non-relativistic Schrödinger particle dynamics in non-inertial reference frames, which is based on propagation of polar…

In quantum electrodynamics with charged fermions, a background electric field is the source of the chiral anomaly which creates a chirally imbalanced state of fermions. This chiral state is realized through the production of entangled pairs of right-moving fermions and left-moving antifermions (or vice versa, depending on the orientation of the electric field). Here we show that the statistical Gibbs entropy associated with these pairs is equal to the entropy of entanglement between the right-moving particles and left-moving antiparticles. We then derive an asymptotic expansion for the entangl…
Open quantum systems with chiral interactions can be realized by coupling atoms to guided radiation modes in waveguides or optical fibres. In their steady state these systems can feature intricate many-body phases such as entangled dark states, but their detection and characterization remains a challenge. Here we show how such collective phenomena can be uncovered through monitoring the record of photons emitted into the guided modes. This permits the identification of dark entangled states but furthermore offers novel capabilities for probing complex dynamical behavior, such as the coexistenc…
Entanglement of Dirac fields has been studied and it is known to decrease with increasing acceleration when a quantum state is shared between users in non-inertial frames. A new form of an entangled vacuum state observed by the accelerated observer is postulated in which it is assumed that entanglement is present between the modes of the quantum field with sharp and opposite momenta defined in two causally disconnected regions of space-time. We find that this assumption does not affect the entanglement of the system.
We study the effects of acceleration on fermionic Gaussian states of localized modes of a Dirac field. We consider two wave-packets in a Gaussian state and transform these to an accelerated frame of reference. In particular, we formulate the action of this transformation as a fermionic quantum channel. Having developed the general framework for fermions, we then investigate the entanglement of the vacuum, as well as the entanglement in Bell states. We find that with increasing acceleration vacuum entanglement increases, while the entanglement of Bell states decreases. Notably, our results have…

Moving cavities promise to be a suitable system for relativistic quantum information processing. It has been shown that an inertial and a uniformly accelerated one-dimensional cavity can become entangled by letting an atom emit an excitation while it passes through the cavities, but the acceleration degrades the ability to generate entanglement. We show that in the two-dimensional case the entanglement generated is affected not only by the cavity's acceleration but also by its transverse dimension which plays the role of an effective mass.
In this article, we introduce a framework for entanglement characterization by time-resolved single-photon counting with measurement operators defined in the time domain. For a quantum system with unitary dynamics, we generate time-continuous measurements by shifting from the Schrodinger picture to the Heisenberg representation. In particular, we discuss this approach in reference to photonic tomography. To make the measurement scheme realistic, we impose timing uncertainty on photon counts along with the Poisson noise. Then, the framework is tested numerically on quantum tomography of qubits.…
Spin precession for an EPR pair of spin-1/2 particles in equatorial orbits around a Kerr-Newman black hole is studied. Hovering observers are introduced to ensure fixed reference frames in order to perform the Wigner rotation. These observers also guarantee a reliable direction to compare spin states in rotating black holes. The velocity of the particle due frame-dragging is explicitly incorporated by addition of velocities with respect the hovering observers and the corresponding spin precession angle is computed. The spin-singlet state is observed to be mixed with the spin-triplet by dynamic…
