Conditions for complex spectra in a class of PT symmetric potentials

We study a wide class of solvable PT symmetric potentials in order to identify conditions under which these potentials have regular solutions with complex energy. Besides confirming previous findings for two potentials, most of our results are new. We demonstrate that the occurrence of conjugate energy pairs is a natural phenomenon for these potentials. We demonstrate that the present method can readily be extended to further potential classes.

Spectral Properties of Symmetric Quantum States and Symmetric Entanglement Witnesses

We introduce and explore two questions concerning spectra of operators that are of interest in the theory of entanglement in symmetric (i.e., bosonic) quantum systems. We show that the complex PT-Symmetric potential, $V(x)=-V_1 {sech}^2x + iV_2 {sech}x ~\tanh x, $, entails a single zero-width resonance (spectral singularity) when $V_1+|V_2|=4n^2+4n+{3\over 4}(n=1,2,3.., |V_2|>|V_1|+ {{sgn}(V_1) \over 4})$ and the positive resonant energy is given as $E_*={1 \over 4}[|V_2|-(1/4+V_1)]$.

The Spectra of Density Operators and the Kronecker Coefficients of the Symmetric Group

Determining the relationship between composite systems and their subsystems is a fundamental problem in quantum physics. In this paper we consider the spectra of a bipartite quantum state and its two marginal states. To each spectrum we can associate a representation of the symmetric group defined by a Young diagram whose normalised row lengths approximate the spectrum. Three PT-symmetric Hamiltonians with completely different spectra

We discuss three Hamiltonians, each with a central-field part $H_{0}$ and a PT-symmetric perturbation $igz$. When $H_{0}$ is the isotropic Harmonic oscillator the spectrum is real for all $g$ because $H$ is isospectral to $H_{0}+g^{2}/2$. When $H_{0}$ is the Hydrogen atom then infinitely many eigenvalues are complex for all $g$. If the potential in $H_{0}$ is linear in the radial variable $r$ then the spectrum of $H$ exhibits real eigenvalues for $0<g<g_{c}$ and a PT phase transition at $g_c$.

Symmetry-Breaking Transition and Spectral Singularity in Coupled $\mathcal{PT}$-Symmetric Quantum Potentials

We study the scattering properties of $N$ identical one-dimensional localized $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric potentials, connected in series as well as in parallel. Symmetric Squares of Graphs

We consider symmetric powers of a graph. In particular, we show that the spectra of the symmetric square of strongly regular graphs with the same parameters are equal. We also provide some bounds on the spectra of the symmetric squares of more general graphs. The connection with generic exchange Hamiltonians in quantum mechanics is discussed in an appendix.

Quantum star-graph analogues of PT-symmetric square wells. II: Spectra

For non-Hermitian equilateral q-pointed star-shaped quantum graphs of paper I [Can. J. Phys. 90, 1287 (2012), arXiv 1205.5211] we show that due to certain dynamical aspects of the model as controlled by the external, rotation-symmetric complex Robin boundary conditions, the spectrum is obtainable in a closed asymptotic-expansion form, in principle at least. Explicit formulae up to the second order are derived for illustration, and a few comments on their consequences are added.

Pseudo-Hermitian and PT -symmetric quantum systems with energy-dependent potentials: Bound-state solutions and energy spectra

We introduce generalized versions of complex Scarf and Morse-type potentials that con- tain energy-dependent parameters. PT -symmetry and pseudo-hermiticity of the associated quantum systems are discussed, and a modified orthogonality relation and pseudo-norm are constructed. We show that despite energy-dependence, our systems can admit real energy spectra and normalizable solutions of bound-state type.

Spectral singularity and non-Hermitian PT-symmetric extension of $A_{N-1}$ type Calogero model without confining potential

We consider non-Hermitian PT-symmetric deformation of $A_{N-1}$ type Calogero model without confining potential to investigate the possible existence of spectral singularity. By considering the Wronskian between asymptotic incoming and outgoing scattering state wave functions, we found that there exist no spectral singularity in this model. We further explicitly show that the transmission coefficient vanishes and the reflection coefficient becomes unity for all values of the energy in such a momentum dependent non-Hermitian PT-symmetric model.

New families of non-parity-time-symmetric complex potentials with all-real spectra

New families of non-parity-time-symmetric complex potentials with all-real spectra are derived by the supersymmetry method and the pseudo-Hermiticity method. With the supersymmetry method, we find families of non-parity-time-symmetric complex partner potentials which share the same spectrum as base potentials with known real spectra, such as the (complex) Wadati potentials. A New Class of PT-symmetric Hamiltonians with Real Spectra

We investigate complex PT-symmetric potentials, associated with quasi-exactly solvable non-hermitian models involving polynomials and a class of rational functions. We also look for special solutions of intertwining relations of SUSY Quantum Mechanics providing a partnership between a real and a complex PT-symmetric potential of the kind mentioned above. We investigate conditions sufficient to ensure the reality of the full spectrum or, for the quasi-exactly solvable systems, the reality of the energy of the finite number of levels.

Perfect transmission scattering as a PT-symmetric spectral problem

We establish that a perfect-transmission scattering problem can be described by a class of parity and time reversal symmetric operators and hereby we provide a scenario for understanding and implementing the corresponding quasi-Hermitian quantum mechanical framework from the physical viewpoint. The spectra of self-adjoint operators in Krein spaces are known to possess real sectors as well as sectors of pair-wise complex conjugate eigenvalues. Generation of families of spectra in PT-symmetric quantum mechanics and scalar bosonic field theory

This paper explains the systematics of the generation of families of spectra for the PT-symmetric quantum-mechanical Hamiltonians $H=p^2+x^2(ix)^ε$, $H=p^2+(x^2)^δ$, and $H=p^2-(x^2)^μ$.
