We present the Schmidt decomposition for arbitrary wavefunctions of two indistinguishable bosons, extending the recent studies of entanglement or quantum correlations for two fermion systems [J. Schliemann et al., Phys. Rev. B {\bf 63}, 085311 (2001) and quant-ph/0012094]. We point out that the von Neumann entropy of the reduced single particle density matrix remains to be a good entanglement measure for two identical particles.
It is emphasized that the bunching parameter $β=P_B/P_D$ , i.e. the ratio between the probability to measure two bosons and two distinguishable particles at the same state, is a constant of motion and depends only on the overlap between the initial wavefunctions. This ratio is equal to $β=2/(1+I^2)$ , where $I$ is the overlap integral between the initial wavefunctions. That is, only when the initial wavefunctions are orthogonal this ratio is equal to 2, however, this bunching ratio can be reduced to 1, when the two wavefunctions are identical. This simple equation explains the experimental evi…
Variational quantum algorithms (VQA) are considered as some of the most promising methods to determine the properties of complex strongly correlated quantum many-body systems, especially from the perspective of devices available in the near term. In this context, the development of efficient quantum circuit ansatze to encode a many-body wavefunction is one of the keys for the success of a VQA. Great efforts have been invested to study the potential of current quantum devices to encode the eigenstates of fermionic systems, but little is known about the encoding of bosonic systems. In this work,…
A variational method for studying the ground state of strongly interacting quantum many-body bosonic systems is presented. Our approach constructs a class of extensive variational non-Gaussian wavefunctions which extend Gaussian states by means of nonlinear canonical transformations (NLCT) on the fields of the theory under consideration. We illustrate this method with the one dimensional Bose-Hubbard model for which the proposal presented here, provides a family of approximate ground states at arbitrarily large values of the interaction strength. We find that, for different values of the inter…
Wavefunction structure is analyzed for dense interacting many-boson systems using Hamiltonian $H$, which is a sum of one-body $h(1)$ and an embedded GOE of $k$-body interaction $V(k)$ with strength $λ$. In the first analysis, a complete analytical description of the variance of the strength function as a function of $λ$ and $k$ is derived and the marker $λ_t$ defining thermalization region is obtained. In the strong coupling limit ($λ> λ_t$), the conditional $q$-normal density describes Gaussian to semi-circle transition in strength functions as body rank $k$ of the interaction increases. In t…
Composite structure of particles somewhat modifies their statistics, compared to the pure Bose- or Fermi-ones. The spin-statistics theorem, so, is not valid anymore. Say, $π$-mesons, excitons, Cooper pairs are not ideal bosons, and, likewise, baryons are not pure fermions. In our preceding papers, we studied bipartite composite boson (i.e. quasiboson) systems via a realization by deformed oscillators. Therein, the interconstituent entanglement characteristics such as entanglement entropy and purity were found in terms of the parameter of deformation. Herein, we perform an analogous study of co…
We investigate a two-body quantum system with hard-core interaction potential in a two-dimensional harmonic trap. We provide the exact analytical solution of the problem. The energy spectrum of this system as a function of the range of the interaction reveals level crossings which can be explained examining the potential and kinetic part of the energy, as well as the localization and oscillatory properties of the wavefunctions quantified by the Fisher information. The latter is sensitive to the wavefunction localization between nodes promoting this property as a resource of quantum correlation…
We consider two bosons in a one-dimensional harmonic trap, interacting by a contact potential, and compare the exact solution of this problem to a self-consistent numerical solution by using the multiconfigurational time-dependent Hartree (MCTDH) method. We thereby benchmark the predictions of the MCTDH method with a few-body problem that has an analytical solution for the most commonly experimentally realized interaction potential in ultracold quantum gases. It is found that exact ground state energy and first order correlations are accurately reproduced by MCTDH up to the intermediate dimens…
Wavefunctions constructed from electron-pair states can accurately model strong electron correlation effects and are promising approaches especially for larger many-body systems. In this article, we analyze the nature and the type of electron correlation effects that can be captured by wavefunctions restricted to electron-pair states. We focus on the Antisymmetric Product of 1-reference orbital Geminal (AP1roG) method combined with an orbital optimization protocol presented in [Phys. Rev. B, 89, 201106(R), 2014] whose performance is assessed against electronic structures obtained form DMRG ref…
It has been proven theoretically for bosons with two-body repulsive interaction potentials in the dilute limit that the Gross-Pitaevskii equation provides the exact energy and density per particle as does the basic many-particle Schroedinger equation [Lieb and Seiringer, Phys. Rev. Lett. 88, 170409 (2002)]. Here, we investigate the overlap of the Gross-Pitaevskii and exact ground state wavefunctions. It is found that this overlap is always smaller than unity and may even vanish in spite of the fact that both wavefunctions provide the same energy and density per particle. Consequences are discu…
Quantum simulation of quantum field theory is a flagship application of quantum computers that promises to deliver capabilities beyond classical computing. The realization of quantum advantage will require methods to accurately predict error scaling as a function of the resolution and parameters of the model that can be implemented efficiently on quantum hardware. In this paper, we address the representation of lattice bosonic fields in a discretized field amplitude basis, develop methods to predict error scaling, and present efficient qubit implementation strategies. A low-energy subspace of …
In this work we study the spatio-temporal correlations of photons produced by spontaneous parametric down conversion. In particular, we study how the waists of the detection and pump beams impact on the spectral bandwidth of the photons. Our results indicate that this parameter is greatly affected by the spatial properties of the detection beam, while not as much by the pump beam. This allows for a simple experimental implementation to control the bandwidth of the biphoton spectra, which only entails modifying the optical configuration to collect the photons. Moreover, we have performed Hong-O…
There is renewed interest in using the coherence between beams generated in separate down-converter sources for new applications in imaging, spectroscopy, microscopy and optical coherence tomography (OCT). These schemes make use of continuous wave (CW) pumping in the low parametric gain regime, which produces frequency correlations, and frequency entanglement, between signal-idler pairs generated in each single source. But can induced coherence still be observed if there is no frequency correlation, so the biphoton wavefunction is factorable? We will show that this is the case, and this might …
The many-anyons wavefunction is constructed via the superposition of all the permutations on the direct product of single anyon states and its interchange properties are examined. The phase of permutation is not a representation but the word metric of the permutation group . Amazingly the interchange phase yields a finite capacity of one quantum state interpolating between Fermion and Boson and the mutual exchange phase has no explicit effect on statistics. Finite capacity of quantum state is defined as Gentile statistics and it is different from the fractional exclusion statistics. Some discu…
Accurately treating electron correlation in the wavefunction is a key challenge for both classical and quantum computational chemistry. Classical methods have been developed which explicitly account for this correlation by incorporating inter-electronic distances into the wavefunction. The transcorrelated method transfers this explicit correlation from the wavefunction to a transformed, non-Hermitian Hamiltonian, whose right-hand eigenvectors become easier to obtain than those of the original Hamiltonian. In this work, we show that the transcorrelated method can reduce the resources required t…
Upon revisiting the Hamiltonian structure of classical wavefunctions in Koopman-von Neumann theory, this paper addresses the long-standing problem of formulating a dynamical theory of classical-quantum coupling. The proposed model not only describes the influence of a classical system onto a quantum one, but also the reverse effect -- the quantum backreaction. These interactions are described by a new Hamiltonian wave equation overcoming shortcomings of currently employed models. For example, the density matrix of the quantum subsystem is always positive-definite. While the Liouville density o…
我们建立在C. K.定律[Phys. Rev.
We investigate the quantum dynamics of two bosons, trapped in a two-dimensional harmonic trap, upon quenching arbitrarily their interaction strength thereby covering the entire energy spectrum. Utilizing the exact analytical solution of the stationary system we derive a closed analytical form of the expansion coefficients of the time-evolved two-body wavefunction, whose dynamics is determined by an expansion over the postquench eigenstates. The emergent dynamical response of the system is analyzed in detail by inspecting several observables such as the fidelity, the reduced one-body densities,…
Many-body densities and correlation functions are of paramount importance for understanding quantum many-body physics. Here, we present a method to compute them; our approach is general and based on the action of bosonic or fermionic annihilation field operators on the many-body wavefunction. We analyze $N = 6$ quasi-one-dimensional harmonically-trapped bosons with weak to strong contact interaction strength up to the Tonks-Girardeau limit with infinite repulsion using the MultiConfigurational Time-Dependent Hartree method for indistinguishable particles (MCTDH-X). We compare our MCTDH-X solut…
High-dimensional entangled states of light provide novel possibilities for quantum information, from fundamental tests of quantum mechanics to enhanced computation and communication protocols. In this context, the frequency degree of freedom combines the assets of robustness to propagation and easy handling with standard telecommunication components. Here we use an integrated semiconductor chip to engineer the wavefunction and exchange statistics of frequency-entangled photon pairs directly at the generation stage, without post-manipulation. Tuning the spatial properties of the pump beam allow…
We propose an analogy between the quantum physics of a black hole in its late stages of the evaporation process and a superfluid Bose Einstein Condensate (BEC), based on the Horowitz and Maldacena quantum final state projection model [JHEP 2004(02), 008]. The superfluid region is considered to be analogous to the interior of a black hole, and the normal fluid/superfluid interface is compared to the event horizon of a black hole. We theoretically investigate the possibility of recovering the wavefunction of particles incident on a superfluid BEC from the normal fluid, facilitated by the mode co…
We present singular value decomposition of spin correlation matrix defined from the ground state of one-dimensional antiferromagnetic quantum Heisenberg model. The decomposition creates a data set that coincides with various domain excitations from classical antiferromagnetic state. We determine the scaling relation for the singular values as a function of the domain size. The singular values are closely related to the square of weights of the bases in the ground-state wavefunction. The nature of the singular value decomposition is to precisely estimate the appropriate bases and corresponding …
The emergence of preferred classical variables within a many-body wavefunction is encoded in its entanglement structure in the form of redundant classical information shared between many spatially local subsystems. We show how such structure can be generated via cosmological dynamics from the vacuum state of a massless field, causing the wavefunction to branch into classical field configurations on large scales. An accelerating epoch first excites the vacuum into a superposition of classical fields as well as a highly sensitive bath of squeezed super-horizon modes. During a subsequent decelera…
We discuss a general interaction quench in a Luttinger liquid described by a paired bosonic Hamiltonian. By employing $\mathsf{su}(1,1)$ Lie algebra, the post-quench time-evolved wavefunctions are obtained analytically, from which the time evolution of the entanglement in momentum space can be investigated. We note that depending on the choice of Bogoliubov quasiparticles, the expressions of wavefunctions, which describe time-evolved paired states, can take different forms. The correspondence between the largest entanglement eigenvalue in momentum space and the wavefunction overlap in quench d…
In this paper, we would like to systematically explore the implications of non-perturbative effects on entanglement in a many body system. Instead of pursuing the usual path-integral method in a singular space, we attempt to study the wavefunctions in detail. We begin with a toy model of multiple particles whose interaction potential admits multiple minima. We study the entanglement of the true ground state after taking the tunnelling effects into account and find some simple patterns. Notably, in the case of multiple particle interactions, entanglement entropy generically decreases with incre…
