We consider pure continuous variable entanglement with non-equal correlations between orthogonal quadratures. We introduce a simple protocol which equates these correlations and in the process transforms the entanglement onto a state with the minimum allowed number of photons. As an example we show that our protocol transforms, through unitary local operations, a single squeezed beam split on a beam splitter into the same entanglement that is produced when two squeezed beams are mixed orthogonally. We demonstrate that this technique can in principle facilitate perfect teleportation utilising only one squeezed beam.
EPR steering is an important quantum resource in quantum information and computation. In this paper, its applications in quantum teleportation are investigated. First of all, the upper bound of the average teleportation fidelity based on the EPR steering is derived. When the receiver can only perform the identity or the Pauli rotation operations, the X-type states which violate the three-setting linear steering inequality could be used for teleportation. In the end, the steering observables and the average teleportation fidelities of the two-qubit reduced states for three-qubit pure states mai…
In the present paper, a novel bidirectional quantum teleportation protocol is proposed. By using entanglement swapping technique, two GHZ states are shared as a quantum channel between Alice and Bob as legitimate users. In this scheme, based on control-not operation, single-qubit measurement and appropriate unitary operations, two users can simultaneously transmit a pure EPR state to each other. While, in the previous protocols, the users can just teleport a single-qubit state to each other via more than four-qubit state. Therefore, the proposed scheme is economical compared with previous prot…
In this paper, a novel protocol for bidirectional controlled quantum teleportation (BCQT) is proposed. Based on entanglement swapping of initiate Bell state, two users can teleport an unknown single-qubit state to each other under the permission of the supervisor. This proposed protocol would be utilized to a system in which a controller controls the communication in one direction only. Indeed, just one of the users needs the permission of the controller to reconstruct the unknown quantum state. In comparison to the existing BCQT protocols which their quantum channels are cluster and brown sta…
Channels composed by Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) pairs are capable of teleporting arbitrary multipartite states. The question arises whether EPR channels are also optimal against imperfections. In particular, the teleportation of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states (GHZ) requires three EPR states as the channel and full measurements in the Bell basis. We show that, by using two GHZ states as the channel, it is possible to transport any unknown three-qubit state of the form $c_0|000\rangle+c_1|111\rangle$. The teleportation is made through measurements in the GHZ basis, and, to obtain determin…
Quantum gravity may have as much to tell us about the foundations and interpretation of quantum mechanics as it does about gravity. The Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics and Everett's Relative State Formulation are complementary descriptions which in a sense are dual to one another. My purpose here is to discuss this duality in the light of the of ER=EPR conjecture.
In this paper we analyze three quantum operations in two dimensional conformal field theories (CFTs): local projection measurements, creations of partial entanglement between two CFTs, and swapping of subsystems between two CFTs. We also give their holographic duals and study time evolutions of entanglement entropy. By combining these operations, we present an analogue of quantum teleportation between two CFTs and give its holographic realization. We introduce a new quantity to probe tripartite entanglement by using local projection measurement.
Quantum teleportation is a method for utilizing quantum measurements and the maximally entangled Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) pair to transmit an unknown quantum state. It is well known that all entangled states demonstrate so-called "nonclassical teleportation" that cannot be simulated by the seminal classical measure-prepare strategy. Herein, we propose a new benchmark which reveals that not all nonclassical teleportations are truly quantum-mechanical. Rather, there exists a more robust classical-teleportation model, which includes the measure-prepare mimicry as a special case, that can des…
I propose to replace the dual classical and nonlocal channels used for teleporting unknown quantum states in the original protocol (OP) [Bennett, C. H., et al. Phys. Rev. Lett. 70 1895 (1993)] by either (i) one single quantum channel or (ii) two nonlocal channels in order to turn the OP into an all-quantum teleportation (AQT) protocol. Ideally, N runs of single channel AQT can be achieved with a single Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) pair, in contrast with the OP, which consumes N EPR pairs. In the two nonlocal channels proposal, Alice uses the superdense coding technique to send Bob her result,…
We study entanglement generation between a system qubit and three apparatus qubits using an exactly solvable Arthurs-Kelly type model. We demonstrate the possibility of generating an EPR-like maximally entangled system-apparatus state, in which the second qubit of the usual EPR state is replaced by a three qubit state. We design a very simple protocol to transfer the unknown state of the system onto one of the apparatus qubits which can then be sent elsewhere via a quantum channel. This protocol can be seen as an alternative teleportation scheme.
Quantum state teleportation of optical number states is conspicuously absent from the list of experimental milestones achieved to date. Here we demonstrate analytically a teleportation scheme with fidelity $100\%$ for optical number states of arbitrary dimension using linear optical elements only. To this end, we develop an EPR source to supply Bell-type states for the teleportation, and show how the same set-up can also be used as a Bell-state analyser (BSA) when implemented in a time-reversal manner. These two aspects are then brought together to complete the teleportation protocol in a sche…
In this paper, a bidirectional quantum teleportation protocol based on Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) pairs and entanglement swapping is proposed. In this scheme, two users can simultaneously transmit an unknown single-qubit state to each other. The implementation of the proposed scheme is easier in experiment as compared to previous work. By utilizing this bidirectional quantum teleportation protocol, a bidirectional quantum secure direct communication scheme without carrying secret message is presented. Therefore, in the case of using perfect quantum channel, the protocol is completely secure…
Quantum teleportation (QT) serves as one of the building blocks of the current state information science and technology which necessitates proper characterization of the resources yielding QT. While entanglement is known to be the basic requirement to achieve QT, condition of sufficiency for QT still remains an open question. Here, we provide an analytic proof that in the case of Gaussian entangled resources, in general, Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) correlation is {\em sufficient for QT}. For a relatively restricted set of Gaussian states we provide even a tighter condition that EPR correlati…
This paper illustrates various aspects of the ER=EPR conjecture. It begins with a brief heuristic argument, using the Ryu-Takayanagi correspondence, for why entanglement between black holes implies the existence of Einstein-Rosen bridges. The main part of the paper addresses a fundamental question: Is ER=EPR consistent with the standard postulates of quantum mechanics? Naively it seems to lead to an inconsistency between observations made on entangled systems by different observers. The resolution of the paradox lies in the properties of multiple black holes, entangled in the Greenberger-Horne-…
We address de-Gaussification of continuous variables Gaussian states by optimal non-deterministic noiseless linear amplifier (NLA) and analyze in details the properties of the amplified states. In particular, we investigate the entanglement content and the non-Gaussian character for the class of non-Gaussian entangled state obtained by using NL-amplification of two-mode squeezed vacua (twin-beam, TWB). We show that entanglement always increases, whereas improved EPR correlations are observed only when the input TWB has low energy. We then examine a Braunstein-Kimble-like protocol for the telep…
We theoretically analyze the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) correlation, the quadrature squeezing, and the continuous-variable quantum teleportation when considering non-Gaussian entangled states generated by applying multiple-photon subtraction and multiple-photon addition to a two-mode squeezed vacuum state (TMSVs). Our results indicate that in the case of the multiple-photon-subtracted TMSVs with symmetric operations, the corresponding EPR correlation, the two-mode squeezing degree, the sum squeezing, and the fidelity of teleporting a coherent state or a squeezed vacuum state can be enhanced…
The Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) pair of qubits plays a critical role in many quantum protocol applications such as quantum communication and quantum teleportation. Due to interaction with the environment, an EPR pair might lose its entanglement and can no longer serve as useful quantum resources. On the other hand, it has been suggested that introducing disorder into environment might help to prevent thermalization and improve the preservation of entanglement. Here, we theoretically investigate the time evolution of quantum entanglement of an EPR pair in a random-field XXZ spin chain model i…
An accumulation of theoretical evidence contribute to the picture of gravity as a manifestation of quantum entanglement in a certain many-body quantum system. This is in particular expresses in the ER=EPR conjecture, which relates gravitational Einstein-Rosen (ER) bridge with the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) quantum entangled pairs or, more generally, with the so-called Thermofield Double State. In this letter, the ER=EPR conjecture is employed to introduce unitary quantum teleportation protocol, which \emph{recycles} the entanglement forming traversable generalization of the Einstein-Rosen b…
Gaussian noise induced by loss on Gaussian states may be corrected by distributing EPR entanglement through the loss channel, purifying the entanglement using a noiseless linear amplifier (NLA) and then using it for continuous-variable teleportation of the input state. Linear optical implementations of the NLA unavoidably introduce small amounts of excess noise and detection and source efficiency will be limited in current implementations. In this paper, we analyze the error-correction protocol with non-unit efficiency sources and detectors and show the excess noise may be partially compensate…

A current-biased low-temperature superconducting Josephson junction (JJ) is dynamically describable by the quantized motion of a fictitious particle in a "washboard" potential. The long coherence time of tightly-bound states in the washboard potential of a JJ has prompted the effort to couple JJs and operate them as entangled qubits, capable of forming building blocks of a scalable quantum computer. Here we consider a hitherto unexplored quantum aspect of coupled JJs: the ability to produce Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) entanglement of their continuous variables, namely, their magnetic fluxes …

The problem of noise incidence on qubits taking part of bipartite entanglement-based protocols is addressed. It is shown that the use of a three-partite GHZ state and measurements instead of their EPR counterparts allows the experimenter to detect $2/3$ of the times whenever one of the qubits involved in the measurement is affected by bit-flip noise through the mere observation of unexpected outcomes in the teleportation and superdense coding protocols when compared to the ideal case. It is shown that the use of post-selection after the detection of noise leads to an enhancement in the efficie…
We give a meta-logical interpretation of the entanglement mechanism of quantum space-time in terms of the sequent calculus of a quantum sub-structural logic. This meta-logical picture is based mainly on the two meta-rules cut and EPR, and on the new meta-theorem teleportation (TEL), built by the use of the above meta-rules, both performed in parallel. The proof of (TEL)-theorem fairly reproduces the protocol of quantum teleportation. In the framework of space-time entanglement, the conclusion of the (TEL)-theorem is that the entangled space-time can convey the quantum teleportation of an unkno…
