Intertwiners between representations of Lie groups can be used to obtain relations for matrix elements. We apply this technique to obtain different identities for the wave functions of the open Toda chain, in particular raising operators and bilinear relations for the wave functions at different energy levels. We also recall the group theory approach to the Toda chain: treating the wave functions as matrix elements in irreducible representations between the so-called Whittaker vectors, integral representations of the wave functions, etc.
In this paper, we study intertwining operators between subregular Whittaker modules of $\gl_N$ generalizing, on the one hand, the classical exchange construction of dynamical quantum groups, on the other hand, earlier results for principal W-algebras. We explicitly construct them using the generators of W-algebras introduced by Brundan-Kleshchev. We interpret the fusion on intertwining operators in terms of categorical actions and compute the semi-classical limit of the corresponding monoidal isomorphisms which turn out to depend on dynamical-like parameters.
In 1978 Kostant suggested the Whittaker model of the center of the universal enveloping algebra U(g) of a complex simple Lie algebra g. The main result is that the center of U(g) is isomorphic to a commutative subalgebra in U(b), where b is a Borel subalgebra in g. This observation is used in the theory of principal series representations of the corresponding Lie group G and in the proof of complete integrability of the quantum Toda lattice. In this paper we generalize the Kostant's construction to quantum groups. In our construction we use quantum analogues of regular nilpotent elements defin…
We propose new explicit form of q-deformed Whittaker functions solving q-deformed gl(l+1)-Toda chains. In the limit q->1 constructed solutions reduce to classical class one gl(l+1)-Whittaker functions in the form proposed by Givental. An important property of the proposed expression for the q-deformed gl(l+1)-Whittaker function is that it can be represented as a character of C*x GL(l+1). This provides a q-version of the Shintani-Casselman-Shalika formula for p-adic Whittaker function. The Shintani-Casselman-Shalika formula is recovered in the limit q->0 when the q-deformed Whittaker function i…
Spin $q$-Whittaker symmetric polynomials labeled by partitions $λ$ were recently introduced by Borodin and Wheeler (arXiv:1701.06292) in the context of integrable $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ vertex models. They are a one-parameter deformation of the $t=0$ Macdonald polynomials. We present a new, more convenient modification of spin $q$-Whittaker polynomials and find two Macdonald type $q$-difference operators acting diagonally in these polynomials with eigenvalues, respectively, $q^{-λ_1}$ and $q^{λ_N}$ (where $λ$ is the polynomial's label). We study probability measures on interlacing arrays based on s…
A representation of a specialization of a q-deformed class one lattice gl(\ell+1}-Whittaker function in terms of cohomology groups of line bundles on the space QM_d(P^{\ell}) of quasi-maps P^1 to P^{\ell} of degree d is proposed. For \ell=1, this provides an interpretation of non-specialized q-deformed gl(2)-Whittaker function in terms of QM_d(\IP^1). In particular the (q-version of) Mellin-Barnes representation of gl(2)-Whittaker function is realized as a semi-infinite period map. The explicit form of the period map manifests an important role of q-version of Gamma-function as a substitute of…
We propose integral representations of the Whittaker functions for the classical Lie algebras sp(2l), so(2l) and so(2l+1). These integral representations generalize the integral representation of gl(l+1)-Whittaker functions first introduced by Givental. One of the salient features of the Givental representation is its recursive structure with respect to the rank of the Lie algebra gl(l+1). The proposed generalization of the Givental representation to the classical Lie algebras retains this property. It was shown elsewhere that the integral recursion operator for gl(l+1)-Whittaker function in t…
Starting with nonsymmetric global difference spherical functions, we define and calculate spinor (nonsymmetric) global q-Whittaker functions for arbitrary reduced root systems, which are reproducing kernels of the DAHA-Fourier transforms of Nil-DAHA and solutions of the q-Toda-Dunkl eigenvalue problem. We introduce the spinor q-Toda-Dunkl operators as limits of the difference Dunkl operators in DAHA theory under the spinor variant of the Ruijsenaars procedure. Their general algebraic theory (any reduced root systems) is the key part of this paper, based on the new technique of W-spinors and co…
We derive a Mellin-Barnes integral representation for solution to generalized (parabolic) quantum Toda lattice introduced in \cite{GLO}, which presumably describes the $(S^1\times U_N)$-equivariant Gromov-Witten invariants of Grassmann variety.
We use techniques from statistical mechanics to provide new formulas for Whittaker coefficients of metaplectic Eisenstein series on odd orthogonal groups, matching Friedberg and Zhang. We study a particular variation/generalization of the six-vertex model of Cartan type C having "domain-wall boundary conditions" dependent on a given integer partition $λ$ of length at most $r$, where $r$ is a fixed positive integer. More precisely, we examine a planar, non-nested, U-turn model whose partition functions $Z_λ$ are a generalization of a deformation of characters of the symplectic group $\operatorn…
We identify q-deformed gl(l+1)-Whittaker functions with a specialization of Macdonald polynomials. This provides a representation of q-deformed gl(l+1)-Whittaker functions in terms of Demazure characters of affine Lie algebra \hat{gl(l+1)}. We also define a system of dual Hamiltonians for q-deformed gl(l+1)-Toda chains and give a new integral representation for q-deformed gl(l+1)-Whittaker functions. Finally an expression of q-deformed gl(l+1)-Whittaker function as a matrix element of a quantum torus algebra is derived.
We propose a natural generalization of the construction of the quantum difference Toda lattice (introduced independently by Etingof and Sevostyanov) associated to a simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. Our construction depends on two orientations of the Dynkin diagram of $\mathfrak{g}$ and some other data (which we refer to as a pair of Sevostyanov triples). In types $A$ and $C$, we provide an alternative construction via Lax matrix formalism, generalizing the one of Kuznetsov-Tsyganov for the classical $q$-Toda. We also show that the generating function of the pairing of Whittaker vectors in th…
We give a recursive method for computing all values of a basis of Whittaker functions for unramified principal series invariant under an Iwahori or parahoric subgroup of a split reductive group $G$ over a nonarchimedean local field $F$. Structures in the proof have surprising analogies to features of certain solvable lattice models. In the case $G=\mathrm{GL}_r$ we show that there exist solvable lattice models whose partition functions give precisely all of these values. Here `solvable' means that the models have a family of Yang-Baxter equations which imply, among other things, that their par…
We conjecture an explicit construction of integral operators intertwining various quantum Toda chains. Compositions of the intertwining operators provide recursive and Q-operators for quantum Toda chains. In particular we propose a generalization of our previous results for Toda chains corresponding to classical Lie algebra to the generic BC_n and Inozemtsev Toda chains. We also conjecture explicit form of Q-operators for closed Toda chains corresponding to Lie algebras B_{\infty}, C_{\infty}, D_{\infty}, affine Lie algebras B^{(1)}_n, C^{(1)}_n, D^{(1)}_n, D^{(2)}_n, A^{(2)}_{2n-1}, A^{(2)}_{…
We present an explicit difference equation for the Heckman-Opdam hypergeometric function associated with root systems. Via a confluent hypergeometric limit, an analogous difference equation is obtained for the class-one Whittaker function diagonalizing the open quantum Toda chain.
We show that hyperoctahedral Whittaker functions---diagonalizing an open quantum Toda chain with one-sided boundary potentials of Morse type---satisfy a dual system of difference equations in the spectral variable. This extends a well-known bispectral duality between the nonperturbed open quantum Toda chain and a strong-coupling limit of the rational Macdonald-Ruijsenaars difference operators. It is manifest from the difference equations in question that the hyperoctahedral Whittaker function is entire as a function of the spectral variable.
The $b$-Whittaker functions are eigenfunctions of the modular $q$-deformed $\mathfrak{gl}_n$ open Toda system introduced by Kharchev, Lebedev, and Semenov-Tian-Shansky. Using the quantum inverse scattering method, the named authors obtained a Mellin-Barnes integral representation for these eigenfunctions. In the present paper, we develop the analytic theory of the $b$-Whittaker functions from the perspective of quantum cluster algebras. We obtain a formula for the modular open Toda system's Baxter operator as a sequence of quantum cluster transformations, and thereby derive a new modular $b$-a…
In this paper we construct weighted path models to compute Whittaker vectors in the completion of Verma modules, as well as Whittaker functions of fundamental type, for all finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras, affine Lie algebras, and the quantum algebra $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_{r+1})$. This leads to series expressions for the Whittaker functions. We show how this construction leads directly to the quantum Toda equations satisfied by these functions, and to the $q$-difference equations in the quantum case. We investigate the critical limit of affine Whittaker functions computed in this way.
We will give new applications of quantum groups to the study of spherical Whittaker functions on the metaplectic $n$-fold cover of $GL(r,F)$, where $F$ is a nonarchimedean local field. Earlier Brubaker, Bump, Friedberg, Chinta and Gunnells had shown that these Whittaker functions can be identified with the partition functions of statistical mechanical systems. They postulated that a Yang-Baxter equation underlies the properties of these Whittaker functions. We confirm this, and identify the corresponding Yang-Baxter equation with that of the quantum affine Lie superalgebra $U_{\sqrt{v}}(\wideh…
We consider Baxter Q-operators for various versions of quantum affine Toda chain. The interpretation of eigenvalues of the finite Toda chain Baxter operators as local Archimedean L-functions proposed recently is generalized to the case of affine Lie algebras. We also introduce a simple generalization of Baxter operators and local L-functions compatible with this identification. This gives a connection of the Toda chain Baxter Q-operators with an Archimedean version of the Polya-Hilbert operator proposed by Berry-Kitting. We also elucidate the Dorey-Tateo spectral interpretation of eigenvalues …
Let G be a semi-simple simply connected group over complex numbers. In this paper we give a geometric definition of the (dual) Weyl modules over the group G[t] and show that their characters form an eigen-function of the lattice version of the q-Toda integrable integrable system (defined by means of the quantum group version of Kostant-Whittaker reduction due to Etingof and Sevostyanov). All the proofs are algebro-geometric and rely on our previous work which interprets the universal eigen-function of the q-Toda system in terms of rings of functions on the spaces of based quasi-maps from P^1 t…
This work, to be published in Transformation Groups in two parts, is devoted to the theory of nil-DAHA for the root system A_1 and its applications to symmetric and nonsymmetric (spinor) global q-Whittaker functions. These functions integrate the q-Toda eigenvalue problem and its Dunkl-type nonsymmetric version. The global symmetric function can be interpreted as the generating function of the Demazure characters for dominant weights, which describe the algebraic-geometric properties of the corresponding affine Schubert varieties. Its Harish-Chandra-type asymptotic expansion appeared directly …
We construct the action of the quantum group U_v(sl_n) by the natural correspondences in the equivariant localized $K$-theory of the Laumon based Quasiflags' moduli spaces. The resulting module is the universal Verma module. We construct geometrically the Shapovalov scalar product and the Whittaker vectors. It follows that a certain generating function of the characters of the global sections of the structure sheaves of the Laumon moduli spaces satisfies a $v$-difference analogue of the quantum Toda lattice system, reproving the main theorem of Givental-Lee. The similar constructions are perfo…

We consider an $n$-fold Brylinski-Deligne cover of a reductive group over a $p$-adic field. Since the space of Whittaker functionals of an irreducible genuine representation of such a cover is not one-dimensional, one can consider a local coefficients matrix arising from an intertwining operator, which is the natural analogue of the local coefficients in the linear case. In this paper, we concentrate on genuine principal series and establish some fundamental properties of such a local coefficients matrix, including the investigation of its arithmetic invariants. As a consequence, we prove a fo…
We describe the algebraic ingredients of a proof of the conjecture of Frenkel and Ip that the category of positive representations $\mathcal{P}_λ$ of the quantum group $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_{n+1})$ is closed under tensor products. Our results generalize those of Ponsot and Teschner in the rank 1 case of $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$. In higher rank, many nontrivial features appear, the most important of these being a surprising connection to the quantum integrability of the open Coxeter-Toda lattice. We show that the closure under tensor products follows from the orthogonality and completeness of the To…
We investigate the underlying quantum group symmetry of 2d Liouville and dilaton gravity models, both consolidating known results and extending them to the cases with $\mathcal{N} = 1$ supersymmetry. We first calculate the mixed parabolic representation matrix element (or Whittaker function) of $\text{U}_q(\mathfrak{sl}(2, \mathbb{R}))$ and review its applications to Liouville gravity. We then derive the corresponding matrix element for $\text{U}_q(\mathfrak{osp}(1|2, \mathbb{R}))$ and apply it to explain structural features of $\mathcal{N} = 1$ Liouville supergravity. We show that this matrix…
For any Hermitian Lie group $G$ of tube type we give a geometric quantization procedure of certain $K_{\mathbb{C}}$-orbits in $\mathfrak{p}_{\mathbb{C}}^*$ to obtain all scalar type highest weight representations. Here $K_{\mathbb{C}}$ is the complexification of a maximal compact subgroup $K\subseteq G$ with corresponding Cartan decomposition $\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{k}+\mathfrak{p}$ of the Lie algebra of $G$. We explicitly realize every such representation $π$ on a Fock space consisting of square integrable holomorphic functions on its associated variety $Ass(π)\subseteq\mathfrak{p}_{\mathbb{C…
