The notion of a quasideterminant and a quasiminor of a matrix A=(a_{ij}) with not necessarily commuting entries was introduced recently by I.Gelfand and the second author. The ordinary determinant of a matrix with commuting entries can be written (in many ways) as a product of quasiminors. Furthermore, it was noticed by a number of authors that such well-known noncommutative determinants as the Berezinian, the Capelli determinant, the quantum determinant of the generating matrix of the quantum group U_h(gl_n) and the Yangian Y(gl_n) can be expressed as products of commuting quasiminors.
The aim of this paper is to extend these results to a rather general class of Hopf algebras given by the Faddeev-Reshetikhin-Takhtajan type relations -- the twisted quantum groups. Such quantum groups arise when Belavin-Drinfeld classical r-matrices are quantized. Our main result is that the quantum determinant of the generating matrix of a twisted quantum group equals the product of commuting quasiminors of this matrix.
We present several identities involving quasi-minors of noncommutative generic matrices. These identities are specialized to quantum matrices, yielding q-analogues of various classical determinantal formulas.
The determinant is a main organizing tool in commutative linear algebra. In this review we present a theory of the quasideterminants defined for matrices over a division algebra. We believe that the notion of quasideterminants should be one of main organizing tools in noncommutative algebra giving them the same role determinants play in commutative algebra.
We present two new proofs of the the important q-commuting property holding among certain pairs of quantum minors of an n x n q-generic matrix. The first uses elementary quasideterminantal arithmetic; the second involves paths in an edge-weighted directed graph.
We define quantum determinants in Quantum Matrix Algebras, related to couples of compatible braidings following the scheme from [G]. We establish relations between these determinants and the so-called column-(row-)determinants, often used in the theory of integrable systems. Also, we generalize the quantum integrable spin systems from [CFRS] by using generalized Yangians, related to couples of compatible braidings. We demonstrate that such quantum integrable spin systems are not uniquely determined by the "quantum coordinate ring" of the basic space V. For instance, the "quantum plane" xy=qyx …
Let $\bigwedge_σV=\bigoplus_{k\geq 0}\bigwedge_σ^kV$ be the quantum exterior algebra associated to a finite-dimensional braided vector space $(V,σ)$. For an algebra $\mathfrak{A}$, we consider the convolution product on the graded space $\bigoplus_{k\geq 0}\mathrm{Hom}\big(\bigwedge_σ^kV,\bigwedge_σ^kV\otimes \mathfrak{A}\big)$. Using this product, we define a notion of quantum minor determinant of a map from $V$ to $V\otimes \mathfrak{A}$, which coincides with the classical one in the case that $\mathfrak{A}$ is the FRT algebra corresponding to $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_N)$. We establish quantum Lap…
A quantum group of type A is defined as a Hopf algebra associated to a Hecke symmetry. We show the homology of a Koszul complex associated to the Hecke symmetry is one dimensional and determines a group-like element in the Hopf algebra. This group-like element can be interpreted as a homological determinant as suggested by Yu. Manin.
We prove that row reducing a quantum matrix yields another quantum matrix for the same parameter q. This means that the elements of the new matrix satisfy the same relations as those of the original quantum matrix ring M_q(n). As a corollary, we can prove that the image of the quantum determinant in the abelianization of the total ring of quotients of M_q(n) is equal to the Dieudonne determinant of the quantum matrix. A similar result is proved for the multiparameter quantum determinant.
We show how to construct central and grouplike quantum determinants for FRT algebras A(R). As an application of the general construction we give a quantum determinant for the q-Lorentz group.
The fundamental matrix solution of the quantum Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation associated with quantum affine sl2 algebra is constructed for |q|=1. The formula for its determinant is given in terms of the double sine function.
Viewing comodule algebras as the noncommutative analogues of affine varieties with affine group actions, we propose rudiments of a localization approach to nonaffine Hopf algebraic quotients of noncommutative affine varieties corresponding to comodule algebras. After reviewing basic background on noncommutative localizations, we introduce localizations compatible with coactions. Coinvariants of these localized coactions give local information about quotients. We define Zariski locally trivial quantum group algebraic principal and associated bundles. Compatible localizations induce localization…
We introduce the quantum determinant for the elliptic quantum algebra $\mathcal{A}_{q,p}(\mathfrak{\widehat{gl}}_N)$ and prove that it generates the center of this algebra.
We study the Jacobi-Trudi-type determinant which is conjectured to be the q-character of a certain, in many cases irreducible, finite-dimensional representation of the quantum affine algebra of type D_n. Unlike the A_n and B_n cases, a simple application of the Gessel-Viennot path method does not yield a positive sum expression of the determinant over a set of tuples of paths. However, applying an additional involution and a deformation of paths, we obtain a positive sum expression over a set of tuples of paths, which is naturally translated into the one over a set of tableaux on a skew diagra…
We study the Jacobi-Trudi-type determinant which is conjectured to be the q-character of a certain, in many cases irreducible, finite-dimensional representation of the quantum affine algebra of type C_n. Like the D_n case studied by the authors recently, applying the Gessel-Viennot path method with an additional involution and a deformation of paths, we obtain a positive sum expression over a set of tuples of paths, which is naturally translated into the one over a set of tableaux on a skew diagram.
The Shapovalov determinant for a class of pointed Hopf algebras is calculated, including quantized enveloping algebras, Lusztig's small quantum groups, and quantized Lie superalgebras. Our main tools are root systems, Weyl groupoids, and Lusztig type isomorphisms. We elaborate powerful novel techniques for the algebras at roots of unity, and pass to the general case using a density argument. Key words: Hopf algebra, Nichols algebra, quantum group, representation
In the Hopf algebra GL_{p,q}(2) the determinant is central iff p=q. In this case we put determinant to be equal to 1 to get SL_q(2). In this paper I consider the case when p/q is a root of unity; and, consequently, a power of the determinant is central.
We introduce the dynamical quantum Pfaffian on the dynamical quantum general linear group and prove its fundamental transformation identity. Hyper quantum dynamical Pfaffian is also introduced and formulas connecting them are given.
We study the quantum finite W-algebras W(gl_N,f), associated to the Lie algebra gl_N, and its arbitrary nilpotent element f. We construct for such an algebra an r_1 x r_1 matrix L(z) of Yangian type, where r_1 is the number of maximal parts of the partition corresponding to f. The matrix L(z) is the quantum finite analogue of the operator of Adler type which we introduced in the classical affine setup. As in the latter case, the matrix L(z) is obtained as a generalized quasideterminant. It should encode the whole structure of W(gl_N,f), including explicit formulas for generators and the commut…
We review the basic algebraic properties of the quantum monodromy matrix M in the canonically quantized chiral SU(n)_k Wess-Zumino-Novikov-Witten model with a quantum group symmetry.
We interpret a formula established by Lapid-M\'ınguez on real regular representations of ${\rm GL}_n$ over a local non-archimedean field as a matrix determinant. We use the Lewis Carroll determinant identity to prove new relations between real regular representations. Through quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality, these relations generalize Mukhin-Young's Extended $T$-systems, for representations of the quantum affine algebra $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_k)$, which are themselves generalizations of the celebrated $T$-system relations.
The foundation for the theory of correlation functions of exactly solvable models is determinant representation. Determinant representation permit to describe correlation functions by classical completely integrable differential equations [Barough, McCoy, Wu]. In this paper we show that determinant represents works not only for free fermionic models. We obtained determinant representation for the correlation function $<ψ(0,0)ψ^\dagger(x,t)>$ of the quantum nonlinear Schrödinger equation, out of free fermionic point. In the forthcoming publications we shall derive completely integrable equation…
For any quasi-triangular Hopf algebra, there exists the universal R-matrix, which satisfies the Yang-Baxter equation. It is known that the adjoint action of the universal R-matrix on the elements of the tensor square of the algebra constitutes a quantum Yang-Baxter map, which satisfies the set-theoretic Yang-Baxter equation. The map has a zero curvature representation among L-operators defined as images of the universal R-matrix. We find that the zero curvature representation can be solved by the Gauss decomposition of a product of L-operators. Thereby obtained a quasi-determinant expression o…
The canonical quantization of the chiral Wess-Zumino-Novikov-Witten (WZNW) monodromy matrices (both the diagonal and the general one) requires additional numerical factors that can be attributed to renormalization. We discuss, for G=SU(n), the field-theoretic and algebraic aspects of this phenomenon and show that these renormalization factors are compatible with the natural definitions of quantum determinants possessing the factorization property (i.e., the determinant of a product is equal to the product of determinants, which is a non-trivial fact for matrices with non-commuting entries).
The concept of the quantum Pfaffian is rigorously examined and refurbished using the new method of quantum exterior algebras. We derive a complete family of Plücker relations for the quantum linear transformations, and then use them to give an optimal set of relations required for the quantum Pfaffian. We then give the formula between the quantum determinant and the quantum Pfaffian and prove that any quantum determinant can be expressed as a quantum Pfaffian. Finally the quantum hyper-Pfaffian is introduced, and we prove a similar result of expressing quantum determinants in terms of quantum …
We consider the dynamical correlation functions of the quantum Nonlinear Schrodinger equation. In a previous paper we found that the dynamical correlation functions can be described by the vacuum expectation value of an operator-valued Fredholm determinant. In this paper we show that a Riemann-Hilbert problem can be associated with this Fredholm determinant. This Riemann-Hilbert problem formulation permits us to write down completely integrable equations for the Fredholm determinant and to perform an asymptotic analysis for the correlation function.
