We study the Jacobi-Trudi-type determinant which is conjectured to be the q-character of a certain, in many cases irreducible, finite-dimensional representation of the quantum affine algebra of type D_n. Unlike the A_n and B_n cases, a simple application of the Gessel-Viennot path method does not yield a positive sum expression of the determinant over a set of tuples of paths. Vertex operators arising from Jacobi-Trudi identities

We give an interpretation of the boson-fermion correspondence as a direct consequence of Jacobi-Trudi identity. This viewpoint enables us to construct from a generalized version of the Jacobi-Trudi identity the action of Clifford algebra on polynomial algebras that arrives as analogues of the algebra of symmetric functions. A generalized Giambelli identity is also proved to follow from that identity. Quantum Jacobi-Trudi and Giambelli Formulae for $U_q(B_r^{(1)})$ from Analytic Bethe Ansatz

Analytic Bethe ansatz is executed for a wide class of finite dimensional $U_q(B^{(1)}_r)$ modules. They are labeled by skew-Young diagrams which, in general, contain a fragment corresponding to the spin representation. For the transfer matrix spectra of the relevant vertex models, we establish a number of formulae, which are $U_q(B^{(1)}_r)$ analogues of the classical ones due to Jacobi-Trudi and Giambelli on Schur functions. For the quantum affine algebra $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak{g}})$ with $\mathfrak{g}$ of classical type, let $χ_{λ/μ,a}$ be the Jacobi-Trudi type determinant for the generating series of the (supposed) $q$-characters of the fundamental representations. We conjecture that $χ_{λ/μ,a}$ is the $q$-character of a certain finite dimensional representation of $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak{g}})$.
