For the quantum affine algebra $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak{g}})$ with $\mathfrak{g}$ of classical type, let $χ_{λ/μ,a}$ be the Jacobi-Trudi type determinant for the generating series of the (supposed) $q$-characters of the fundamental representations. We conjecture that $χ_{λ/μ,a}$ is the $q$-character of a certain finite dimensional representation of $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak{g}})$. We study the tableaux description of $χ_{λ/μ,a}$ using the path method due to Gessel-Viennot. It immediately reproduces the tableau rule by Bazhanov-Reshetikhin for $A_n$ and by Kuniba-Ohta-Suzuki for $B_n$. For $C_n$, we derive the explicit tableau rule for skew diagrams $λ/μ$ of three rows and of two columns, and give the implicit tableau rule in terms of paths for general $λ/μ$.
We introduce and study an affine analogue of skew Young diagrams and tableaux on them. It turns out that the double affine Hecke algebra of type $A$ acts on the space spanned by standard tableaux on each diagram. It is shown that the modules obtained this way are irreducible, and they exhaust all irreducible modules of a certain class over the double affine Hecke algebra. In particular, the classification of irreducible modules of this class, announced by Cherednik, is recovered.
We introduce a new family of symmetric functions, which are $q$-analogues of products of Schur functions defined in terms of ribbon tableaux. These functions can be interpreted in terms of the Fock space representation of the quantum affine algebra of type $A_{n-1}^{(1)}$ and are related to Hall-Littlewood functions via the geometry of flag varieties. We present a series of conjectures, and prove them in special cases. The essential step in proving that these functions are actually symmetric consists in the calculation of a basis of highest weight vectors of the $q$-Fock space using ribbon tab…
We study the Jacobi-Trudi-type determinant which is conjectured to be the q-character of a certain, in many cases irreducible, finite-dimensional representation of the quantum affine algebra of type C_n. Like the D_n case studied by the authors recently, applying the Gessel-Viennot path method with an additional involution and a deformation of paths, we obtain a positive sum expression over a set of tuples of paths, which is naturally translated into the one over a set of tableaux on a skew diagram.
The weight multiplicities of finite dimensional simple Lie algebras can be computed individually using various methods. Still, it is hard to derive explicit closed formulas. Similarly, explicit closed formulas for the multiplicities of maximal weights of affine Kac--Moody algebras are not known in most cases. In this paper, we study weight multiplicities for both finite and affine cases of classical types for certain infinite families of highest weights modules. We introduce new classes of Young tableaux, called the {\em $($spin$)$ rigid tableaux}, and prove that they are equinumerous to the w…
We study the Jacobi-Trudi-type determinant which is conjectured to be the q-character of a certain, in many cases irreducible, finite-dimensional representation of the quantum affine algebra of type D_n. Unlike the A_n and B_n cases, a simple application of the Gessel-Viennot path method does not yield a positive sum expression of the determinant over a set of tuples of paths. However, applying an additional involution and a deformation of paths, we obtain a positive sum expression over a set of tuples of paths, which is naturally translated into the one over a set of tableaux on a skew diagra…
The $k$-Young lattice $Y^k$ is a partial order on partitions with no part larger than $k$. This weak subposet of the Young lattice originated from the study of the $k$-Schur functions(atoms) $s_λ^{(k)}$, symmetric functions that form a natural basis of the space spanned by homogeneous functions indexed by $k$-bounded partitions. The chains in the $k$-Young lattice are induced by a Pieri-type rule experimentally satisfied by the $k$-Schur functions. Here, using a natural bijection between $k$-bounded partitions and $k+1$-cores, we establish an algorithm for identifying chains in the $k$-Young l…
We give a tableaux sum expression of $t$--analog of $q$--characters of finite dimensional representations (standard modules) of quantum affine algebras $\Ul$ when $\g$ is of type $A_n$, $D_n$.
We introduce and study some affine Hecke algebras of type ADE, generalising the affine Hecke algebras of GL. We construct irreducible calibrated representations and describe the calibrated spectrum. This is done in terms of new families of combinatorial objects equipped with actions of the corresponding Weyl groups. These objects are built from and generalise the usual standard Young tableaux, and are controlled by the considered affine Hecke algebras. By restriction and limiting procedure, we obtain several combinatorial models for representations of finite Hecke algebras and Weyl groups of t…
Answering a question of Kuniba, Misra, Okado, Takagi, and Uchiyama, it is shown that certain Demazure characters of affine type A, coincide with the graded characters of coordinate rings of closures of conjugacy classes of nilpotent matrices. This entails a translation of the affine type A crystal theory into the language of tableaux following Nakayashiki and Yamada, for the case of tensor products of the classical crystals indexed by rectangular partitions. In particular the explicit action of the zero-th crystal raising operator on the above crystals is given, and its direct connection with …
We study finite-dimensional representations of quantum affine algebras of type $B_N$. We show that a module is tame if and only if it is thin. In other words, the Cartan currents are diagonalizable if and only if all joint generalized eigenspaces have dimension one. We classify all such modules and describe their $q$-characters. In some cases, the $q$-characters are described by super standard Young tableaux of type $(2N|1)$.
In [Frieden, arXiv:1706.02844], we constructed a geometric crystal on the variety $\mathbb{X}_{k} := {\rm Gr}(k,n) \times \mathbb{C}^\times$ which tropicalizes to the affine crystal structure on rectangular tableaux with $n-k$ rows. In this sequel, we define and study the geometric $R$-matrix, a birational map $R : \mathbb{X}_{k_1} \times \mathbb{X}_{k_2} \rightarrow \mathbb{X}_{k_2} \times \mathbb{X}_{k_1}$ which tropicalizes to the combinatorial $R$-matrix on pairs of rectangular tableaux. We show that $R$ is an isomorphism of geometric crystals, and that it satisfies the Yang--Baxter relati…
Extending the work arXiv:math/0508107, we introduce the affine crystal action on rigged configurations which is isomorphic to the Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystal B^{r,s} of type D_n^(1) for any r,s. We also introduce a representation of B^{r,s} (r not equal to n-1,n) in terms of tableaux of rectangular shape r x s, which we coin Kirillov-Reshetikhin tableaux (using a non-trivial analogue of the type A column splitting procedure) to construct a bijection between elements of a tensor product of Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals and rigged configurations.
We construct a type $A_{n-1}^{(1)}$ geometric crystal on the variety ${\rm Gr}(k,n) \times \mathbb{C}^\times$, and show that it tropicalizes to the disjoint union of the Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals corresponding to rectangular tableaux with $n-k$ rows. A key ingredient in our construction is the $\mathbb{Z}/n\mathbb{Z}$ symmetry on the Grassmannian coming from cyclically shifting the basis of the underlying vector space. We show that a twisted version of this symmetry tropicalizes to combinatorial promotion. Additionally, we use the loop group ${\rm GL}_n(\mathbb{C}(λ))$ to define a unipoten…
Lascoux, Leclerc and Thibon have introduced symmetric functions which are spin and weight generating functions for ribbon tableaux. This article is aimed at studying these `ribbon functions' in analogy with Schur functions. In particular we will describe ribbon Pieri and Murnagham-Nakayama formulae, a ribbon Cauchy identity and an algebra involution which `conjugates' the ribbon functions. We will study these functions in the context of the action of the Heisenberg algebra on the Fock space representation of the quantum affine algebra U_q(sl_n)^, discovered by Kashiwara, Miwa and Stern. We wil…
We prove that semi-infinite Bruhat order on an affine Weyl group is completely determined from those on the quotients by affine Weyl subgroups associated with various maximal (standard) parabolic subgroups of finite type. Furthermore, for an affine Weyl group of classical type, we give a complete classification of all cover relations of semi-infinite Bruhat order (or equivalently, all edges of the quantum Bruhat graphs) on the quotients in terms of tableaux. Combining these we obtain a tableau criterion for semi-infinite Bruhat order on an affine Weyl group of classical type. As an application…
Analogously to the construction of Suzuki and Vazirani, we construct representations of the $GL_m$-type Double Affine Hecke Algebra at roots of unity. These representations are graded and the weight spaces for the $X$-variables are parametrized by the combinatorial objects we call doubly periodic tableaux. We show that our representations exhaust all graded $X$-semisimple representations, and the direct sum of all our representations is faithful. Analogously to the construction of Jordan and Vazirani of rectangular DAHA representations, we show that our representations can be interpreted in te…
We provide the unique affine crystal structure for type E_6^{(1)} Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals corresponding to the multiples of fundamental weights s Lambda_1, s Lambda_2, and s Lambda_6 for all s \geq 1 (in Bourbaki's labeling of the Dynkin nodes, where 2 is the adjoint node). Our methods introduce a generalized tableaux model for classical highest weight crystals of type E and use the order three automorphism of the affine E_6^{(1)} Dynkin diagram. In addition, we provide a conjecture for the affine crystal structure of type E_7^{(1)} Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals corresponding to the adjo…
In this paper, we extend work of the first author on a crystal structure on rigged configurations of simply-laced type to all non-exceptional affine types using the technology of virtual rigged configurations and crystals. Under the bijection between rigged configurations and tensor products of Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals specialized to a single tensor factor, we obtain a new tableaux model for Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals. This is related to the model in terms of Kashiwara-Nakashima tableaux via a filling map, generalizing the recently discovered filling map in type $D_n^{(1)}$.
Starting from known $q$-analogues of ordinary SU(n) tensor products multiplicities, we introduce $q$-analogues of the fusion coefficients of the WZW conformal field theories associated with SU(n). We conjecture combinatorial interpretations of these polynomials, which can be proved in special cases. This allows us to derive in a simple way various kinds of branching functions, the simplest ones being the characters of the minimal unitary series of the Virasoro algebra. We also obtain $q$-analogues of the dimensions of spaces of nonabelian theta functions.
For coherent families of crystals of affine Lie algebras of type B^{(1)}_n, D^{(1)}_n, A^{(2)}_{2n} and D^{(2)}_{n+1} we describe the combinatorial R matrix using column insertion algorithms for B,C,D Young tableaux.
We derive the N-point one-loop correlation functions for the currents of an arbitrary affine Kac-Moody algebra. The one-loop amplitudes, which are elliptic functions defined on the torus Riemann surface, are specified by group invariant tensors and certain constant tau-dependent functions. We compute the elliptic functions via a generating function, and explicitly construct the invariant tensor functions recursively in terms of Young tableaux. The lowest tensors are related to the character formula of the representation of the affine algebra. These general current algebra loop amplitudes provi…
For irreducible integrable highest weight modules of the finite and affine Lie algebras of type A and D, we define an isomorphism between the geometric realization of the crystal graphs in terms of irreducible components of Nakajima quiver varieties and the combinatorial realizations in terms of Young tableaux and Young walls. For affine type A, we extend the Young wall construction to arbitrary level, describing a combinatorial realization of the crystals in terms of new objects which we call Young pyramids.
An inductive approach to the representation theory of cyclotomic Hecke algebras, inspired by Okounkov and Vershik, is developed. We study the common spectrum of the Jucys-Murphy elements using representations of the simplest affine Hecke algebra. Representations are constructed with the help of a new associative algebra whose underlying vector space is the tensor product of the cyclotomic Hecke algebra with the free associative algebra generated by standard m-tableaux.
Given a module $M$ for the algebra $\mathcal{D}_{\mathtt{q}}(G)$ of quantum differential operators on $G$, and a positive integer $n$, we may equip the space $F_n^G(M)$ of invariant tensors in $V^{\otimes n}\otimes M$, with an action of the double affine Hecke algebra of type $A_{n-1}$. Here $G= SL_N$ or $GL_N$, and $V$ is the $N$-dimensional defining representation of $G$. In this paper we take $M$ to be the basic $\mathcal{D}_{\mathtt{q}}(G)$-module, i.e. the quantized coordinate algebra $M= \mathcal{O}_{\mathtt{q}}(G)$. We describe a weight basis for $F_n^G(\mathcal{O}_{\mathtt{q}}(G))$ com…
We prove the Kirillov-Reshetikhin conjecture concerning certain finite dimensional representations of a quantum affine algebra $\Ua$ when $\hat\g$ is an untwisted affine Lie algebra of type $ADE$. We use $t$--analog of $q$--characters introduced by the author in an essential way.
We study the relation between quantum affine algebras of type A and Grassmannian cluster algebras. Hernandez and Leclerc described an isomorphism from the Grothendieck ring of a certain subcategory $\mathcal{C}_{\ell}$ of $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak{sl}_n})$-modules to a quotient of the Grassmannian cluster algebra in which certain frozen variables are set to 1. We explain how this induces an isomorphism between the monoid of dominant monomials, used to parameterize simple modules, and a quotient of the monoid of rectangular semistandard Young tableaux. Via the isomorphism, we define an element ch(T) …
The spectral decomposition of the path space of the vertex model associated to the vector representation of the quantized affine algebra $U_q(\hat{sl}_n)$ is studied. We give a one-to-one correspondence between the spin configurations and the semi-standard tableaux of skew Young diagrams. As a result we obtain a formula of the characters for the degeneracy of the spectrum in terms of skew Schur functions. We conjecture that our result describes the $sl_n$-module contents of the Yangian $Y(sl_n)$-module structures of the level 1 integrable modules of the affine Lie algebra $\hat{sl}_n$. An anal…
We study the monomial crystal defined by the second author. We show that each component of the monomial crystal can be embedded into a crystal of an extremal weight module introduced by Kashiwara. And we determine all monomials appearing in the components corresponding to all level 0 fundamental representations of quantum affine algebras except for some nodes of $E_6^{(2)}$, $E_7^{(1)}$, $E_8^{(1)}$. Thus we obtain explicit descriptions of the crystals in these examples. We also give those for the corresponding finite dimensional representations. For classical types, we give them in terms of t…
Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals are colored directed graphs encoding the structure of certain finite-dimensional representations of affine Lie algebras. A tensor products of column shape Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals has recently been realized in a uniform way, for all untwisted affine types, in terms of the quantum alcove model. We enhance this model by using it to give a uniform realization of the combinatorial $R$-matrix, i.e., the unique affine crystal isomorphism permuting factors in a tensor product of KR crystals. In other words, we are generalizing to all Lie types Schützenberger's slidi…
Consider the affine Hecke algebra $H_l$ corresponding to the group $GL_l$ over a $p$-adic field with the residue field of cardinality $q$. Regard $H_l$ as an associative algebra over the field $C(q)$. Consider the $H_{l+m}$-module $W$ induced from the tensor product of the evaluation modules over the algebras $H_l$ and $H_m$. The module $W$ depends on two partitions $λ$ of $l$ and $μ$ of $m$, and on two non-zero elements of the field $C(q)$. There is a canonical operator $J$ acting on $W$, it corresponds to the trigonometric $R$-matrix. The algebra $H_{l+m}$ contains the finite dimensional Hec…
If a knot is represented by an m-strand braid, then HOMFLY polynomial in representation R is a sum over characters in all representations Q\in R^{\otimes m}. Coefficients in this sum are traces of products of quantum R-matrices along the braid, but these matrices act in the space of intertwiners, and their size is equal to the multiplicity M_{RQ} of Q in R^{\otimes m}. If R is the fundamental representation R=[1], then M_{[1] Q} is equal to the number of paths in representation graph, which lead from the fundamental vertex [1] to the vertex Q. In the basis of paths the entries of the m-1 relev…
The spectral decomposition of the path space of the vertex model associated to the level $l$ representation of the quantized affine algebra $U_q(\hat{sl}_n)$ is studied. The spectrum and its degeneracy are parametrized by skew Young diagrams and what we call nonmovable tableaux on them, respectively. As a result we obtain the characters for the degeneracy of the spectrum in terms of an alternating sum of skew Schur functions. Also studied are new combinatorial descriptions (spectral decomposition) of the Kostka numbers and the Kostka--Foulkes polynomials. As an application we give a new proof …
We give some higher dimensional analogues of the Durfee square formula and point out their relation to dissections of multipartitions. We apply the results to write certain affine Lie algebra characters in terms of Universal Chiral Partition Functions.
The Demazure character formula is applied to the Verlinde formula for affine fusion rules. We follow Littelmann's derivation of a generalized Littlewood-Richardson rule from Demazure characters. A combinatorial rule for affine fusions does not result, however. Only a modified version of the Littlewood-Richardson rule is obtained that computes an (old) upper bound on the fusion coefficients of affine $A_r$ algebras. We argue that this is because the characters of simple Lie algebras appear in this treatment, instead of the corresponding affine characters. The Bruhat order on the affine Weyl gro…
