Wiener used the Poisson kernel for the Hermite polynomials to deal with the classical Fourier transform. Askey, Atakishiyev and Suslov used this approach to obtain a q-Fourier transform by using the continuous q-Hermite polynomials. Rahman and Suslov extended this result by taking the Askey--Wilson polynomials, considered to be the most general continuous classical orthogonal polynomials. The theory of q-Fourier transformation is further extended here by considering a nonsymmetric version of the Poisson kernel with Askey--Wilson polynomials. This approach enables us to obtain some new results, for example, the complex and real orthogonalities of these kernels.
We introduce a new class of fully nonlinear integro-differential operators with possible nonsymmetric kernels, which includes the ones that arise from stochastic control problems with purely jump Lèvy processes. If the index of the operator $σ$ is in $ (1,2)$ (subcritical case), then we obtain a comparison principle, a nonlocal version of the Alexandroff-Backelman-Pucci estimate, a Harnack inequality, a Hölder regularity, and an interior $\rm C^{1,α}$-regularity for fully nonlinear integro-differential equations associated with such a class. Moreover, our estimates remain uniform as the index …
In the first part of the paper kernels are constructed which meromorphically extend the Macdonald-Koornwinder polynomials in their degrees. In the second part of the paper the kernels associated with rank one root systems are used to define nonsymmetric variants of the spherical Fourier transform on the quantum SU(1,1) group. Related Plancherel and inversion formulas are derived using double affine Hecke algebra techniques.
In this paper, a product formula for the one-dimensional $(k,a)$-generalized Fourier kernel is given for $k\geq0$, $a>0$ and $2k>a-1$, extending the special case when $a=\frac{2}{n}$, $n\in \mathbb{N}$.
In this paper, we study the generalized Clifford-Fourier transform introduced in [6] using the Laplace transform technique. We give explicit expressions in the even dimensional case, we obtain polynomial bounds for the kernel functions and establish a generating function.
In this paper, we develop a new method based on the Laplace transform to study the Clifford-Fourier transform. First, the kernel of the Clifford-Fourier transform in the Laplace domain is obtained. When the dimension is even, the inverse Laplace transform may be computed and we obtain the explicit expression for the kernel as a finite sum of Bessel functions. We equally obtain the plane wave decomposition and find new integral representations for the kernel in all dimensions. Finally we define and compute the formal generating function for the even dimensional kernels.
We prove qualitatively sharp heat kernel bounds in the setting of Fourier-Bessel expansions when the associated type parameter $ν$ is half-integer. Moreover, still for half-integer $ν$, we also obtain sharp estimates of all kernels subordinated to the heat kernel. Analogous estimates for general $ν> -1$ are conjectured. Some consequences concerning the related heat semigroup maximal operator are discussed.
In this paper, a new method is developed to obtain explicit and integral expressions for the kernel of the $(κ, a)$-generalized Fourier transform for $κ=0$. In the case of dihedral groups, this method is also applied to the Dunkl kernel as well as the Dunkl Bessel function. The method uses the introduction of an auxiliary variable in the series expansion of the kernel, which is subsequently Laplace transformed. The kernel in the Laplace domain takes on a much simpler form, by making use of the Poisson kernel. The inverse Laplace transform can then be computed using the generalized Mittag-Leffl…
The heat kernel in the setting of classical Fourier-Bessel expansions is defined by an oscillatory series which cannot be computed explicitly. We prove qualitatively sharp estimates of this kernel. Our method relies on establishing a connection with a situation of expansions based on Jacobi polynomials and then transferring known sharp bounds for the related Jacobi heat kernel.
We provide sharp two-sided estimates of the Fourier-Bessel heat kernel and we give sharp two-sided estimates of the transition probability density for the Bessel process in (0,1) killed at 1 and killed or reflected at 0.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the distribution of zeros of entire functions which can be represented as the Fourier transforms of certain admissible kernels. The principal results bring to light the intimate connection between the Bochner-Khinchin-Mathias theory of positive definite kernels and the generalized real Laguerre inequalities. The concavity and convexity properties of the Jacobi theta function play a prominent role throughout this work. The paper concludes with several questions and open problems.
In this paper, estimates are proven for convolution kernels associated to multipliers from a reasonably general class of compactly supported two-dimensional functions constructed out of real-analytic functions. These estimates are both for overall decay rate and decay rate in specific directions. The estimates are sharp for a certain range of exponents appearing in the theorems.
We study mapping properties of operators with kernels defined via a combination of continuous and discrete orthogonal polynomials, which provide an abstract formulation of quantum (q-) Fourier type systems. We prove Ismail conjecture regarding the existence of a reproducing kernel structure behind these kernels, by establishing a link with Saitoh theory of linear transformations in Hilbert space. The results are illustrated with Fourier kernels with ultraspherical weights, their continuous q-extensions and generalizations. As a byproduct of this approach, a new class of sampling theorems is ob…
The radially deformed Fourier transform, introduced in [S. Ben Said, T. Kobayashi and B. Orsted, Laguerre semigroup and Dunkl operators, Compositio Math.], is an integral transform that depends on a numerical parameter $a \in R^{+}$. So far, only for $a=1$ and $a=2$ the kernel of this integral transform is determined explicitly. In the present paper, explicit formulas for the kernel of this transform are obtained when the dimension is even and $a = 2/n$ with $n \in N$. As a consequence, it is shown that the integral kernel is bounded in dimension 2.
In this paper, a fractional version of the Clifford-Fourier transform is introduced, depending on two numerical parameters. A series expansion for the kernel of the resulting integral transform is derived. In the case of even dimension, also an explicit expression for the kernel in terms of Bessel functions is obtained. Finally, the analytic properties of this new integral transform are studied in detail.
For the kernel $B_{κ,a}(x,y)$ of the $(κ,a)$-generalized Fourier transform $\mathcal{F}_{κ,a}$, acting in $L^{2}(\mathbb{R}^{d})$ with the weight $|x|^{a-2}v_κ(x)$, where $v_κ$ is the Dunkl weight, we study the important question of when $\|B_{κ,a}\|_{\infty}=B_{κ,a}(0,0)=1$. The positive answer was known for $d\ge 2$ and $\frac{2}{a}\in\mathbb{N}$. We investigate the case $d=1$ and $\frac{2}{a}\in\mathbb{N}$. Moreover, we give sufficient conditions on parameters for $\|B_{κ,a}\|_{\infty}>1$ to hold with $d\ge 1$ and any $a$. We also study the image of the Schwartz space under the $\mathcal{F}…

We prove new explicit upper bounds on the leverage scores of Fourier sparse functions under both the Gaussian and Laplace measures. In particular, we study $s$-sparse functions of the form $f(x) = \sum_{j=1}^s a_j e^{i λ_j x}$ for coefficients $a_j \in \mathbb{C}$ and frequencies $λ_j \in \mathbb{R}$. Bounding Fourier sparse leverage scores under various measures is of pure mathematical interest in approximation theory, and our work extends existing results for the uniform measure [Erd17,CP19a]. Practically, our bounds are motivated by two important applications in machine learning: 1. Kernel …
For each irreducible module of the symmetric group on $N$ objects there is a set of parametrized nonsymmetric Jack polynomials in $N$ variables taking values in the module. These polynomials are simultaneous eigenfunctions of a commutative set of operators, self-adjoint with respect to certain Hermitian forms. These polynomials were studied by the author and J.-G. Luque using a Yang-Baxter graph technique. This paper constructs a matrix-valued measure on the $N$-torus for which the polynomials are mutually orthogonal. The construction uses Fourier analysis techniques. Recursion relations for t…
For functions that take values in the Clifford algebra, we study the Clifford-Fourier transform on $R^m$ defined with a kernel function $K(x,y) := e^{\frac{i π}{2} Γ_{y}}e^{-i <x,y>}$, replacing the kernel $e^{i <x,y>}$ of the ordinary Fourier transform, where $Γ_{y} := - \sum_{j<k} e_{j}e_{k} (y_{j} \partial_{y_{k}} - y_{k}\partial_{y_{j}})$. An explicit formula of $K(x,y)$ is derived, which can be further simplified to a finite sum of Bessel functions when $m$ is even. The closed formula of the kernel allows us to study the Clifford-Fourier transform and prove the inversion formula, for whic…
This paper is centred on the spectral study of a Random Fourier matrix, that is an $n\times n$ matrix $A$ whose $(j, k)$ entries are $\exp(2iπm X_jY_k)$, with $X_j$ and $Y_k$ two i.i.d sequences of random variables and $1\leq m\leq n$ is a real number. When they are uniformly distributed on a symmetric interval, this may be seen as a random discretization of the Finite Fourier transform, whose spectrum has been extensively studied in relation with band-limited functions. Our study is two-fold. Firstly, by pushing forward concentration inequalities, we find an accurate comparison in $\ell^2$- n…
In the paper we study the multipliers of Fourier series in polynomials orthogonal in continuous-discrete Sobolev's spaces. Multiplier Theorem for Fourier-Sobolev series is obtained. This result is based on the representation of the Fejér kernel, on the construction of the "humpbacked majorant" and weighted estimates of maximal functions.
We study orthogonal structures and Fourier orthogonal series on the surface of a paraboloid $\mathbb{V}_0^{d+1} = \{(x,t): \|x\| = \sqrt{t}, \, x \in \mathbb{R}^d, \, 0\le t<1\}$. The reproducing kernels of the orthogonal polynomials with respect to $t^β(1-t)^γ$ on $\mathbb{V}_0^{d+1}$ are related to the reproducing kernels of the Jacobi polynomials on the parabolic domain $\{(x_1,x_2): x_1^2 \le x_2 \le 1\}$ in $\mathbb{R}^2$. This connection serves as an essential tool for our study of the Fourier orthogonal series on the surface of the paraboloid, which allow us, in particular, to study the…
Fourier multiplier analysis is developed for nonlocal peridynamic-type Laplace operators, which are defined for scalar fields in $\mathbb{R}^n$. The Fourier multipliers are given through an integral representation. We show that the integral representation of the Fourier multipliers is recognized explicitly through a unified and general formula in terms of the hypergeometric function $_2F_3$ in any spatial dimension $n$. Asymptotic analysis of $_2F_3$ is utilized to identify the asymptotic behavior of the Fourier multipliers $m(ν)$ as $\|ν\|\rightarrow \infty$. We show that the multipliers are …
In this paper extensions of the classical Fourier, fractional Fourier and Radon transforms to superspace are studied. Previously, a Fourier transform in superspace was already studied, but with a different kernel. In this work, the fermionic part of the Fourier kernel has a natural symplectic structure, derived using a Clifford analysis approach. Several basic properties of these three transforms are studied. Using suitable generalizations of the Hermite polynomials to superspace (see [H. De Bie, F. Sommen, Hermite and Gegenbauer polynomials in superspace using Clifford analysis, J. Phys. A 40…
Let $μ$ be a probability measure on $\mathbb{T}$ that is singular with respect to the Haar measure. In this paper we study Fourier expansions in $L^2(\mathbb{T},μ)$ using techniques from the theory of model subspaces of the Hardy space. Since the sequence of monomials $\{z^n\}_{n\in \mathbb{N}}$ is effective in $L^2(\mathbb{T},μ)$, it has a Parseval frame associated via the Kaczmarz algorithm. Our first main goal is to identify the aforementioned frame with boundary values of the frame $P_φ(z^n)$ for the model subspace $\mathcal{H}(φ)= H^2 \ominus φH^2$, where $P_φ$ is the orthogonal projectio…
We construct a large family of Fourier interpolation bases for functions analytic in a strip symmetric about the real line. Interesting examples involve the nontrivial zeros of the Riemann zeta function and other $L$-functions. We establish a duality principle for Fourier interpolation bases in terms of certain kernels of general Dirichlet series with variable coefficients. Such kernels admit meromorphic continuation, with poles at a sequence dual to the sequence of frequencies of the Dirichlet series, and they satisfy a functional equation. Our construction of concrete bases relies on a stren…
