Given any Banach space $X$, let $L_2^X$ denote the Banach space of all measurable functions $f:[0,1]\to X$ for which
||f||_2:=(int_0^1 ||f(t)||^2 dt)^{1/2}
is finite. We show that $X$ is a UMD--space (see \cite{BUR:1986}) if and only if
\lim_n||f-S_n(f)||_2=0 for all $f\in L_2^X$, where
S_n(f):=sum_{i=0}^{n-1} (f,w_i)w_i
is the $n$--th partial sum associated with the Walsh system $(w_i)$.
In this paper we consider the generalized Walsh system and a problem $L^1- convergence$ of greedy algorithm of functions after changing the values on small set.
We prove modulation invariant embedding bounds from Bochner spaces $L^p(\mathbb{W};X)$ on the Walsh group to outer-$L^p$ spaces on the Walsh extended phase plane. The Banach space $X$ is assumed to be UMD and sufficiently close to a Hilbert space in an interpolative sense. Our embedding bounds imply $L^p$ bounds and sparse domination for the Banach-valued tritile operator, a discrete model of the Banach-valued bilinear Hilbert transform.
J. L. Rubio de Francia proved the one-sided Littlewood--Paley inequality for arbitrary intervals in $L^p$, $2\le p<\infty$ and later N. N. Osipov proved the similar inequality for Walsh functions. In this paper we investigate some properties of Banach spaces $X$ such that the latter inequality holds for $X$-valued functions.
The concept of Rademacher type $p$ ($1\leq p\leq2$) plays an important role in the local theory of Banach spaces. In \cite{mas88} Mascioni considers a weakening of this concept and shows that for a Banach space $X$ weak Rademacher type $p$ implies Rademacher type $r$ for all $r<p$. As with Rademacher type $p$ and weak Rademacher type $p$, we introduce the concept of Haar type $p$ and weak Haar type $p$ by replacing the Rademacher functions by the Haar functions in the respective definitions. We show that weak Haar type $p$ implies Haar type $r$ for all $r<p$. This solves a problem left open by…
As main result we prove that Fejér means of Walsh-Fourier series are uniformly bounded operators from $\ H_{p}$ to $H_{p}$ $\left( 0<p\leq 1/2\right) .
We investigate convergence properties of generalized Walsh series associated with signals $f\in L^1[0,1]$. We also show how the dependence of the generalized Walsh bases on $N\times N$ unitary matrices allows for applications in signal encoding and encryption, provided the signals are piece-wise constant on $N$-adic subintervals of $[0,1]$.
We prove that certain mean of the quadratical partial sums of the two-dimensional Walsh-Fourier series are uniformly bounded operators from the Hardy space $H_{p}$ to the space $L_{p}$ for $0<p<1.$
In this paper we consider a question on existence of double series by generalized Walsh system, which are universal in weighted $L_μ^1[0,1]^2$ spaces. In particular, we construct a weighted function $μ(x,y)$ and a double series by generalized Walsh system of the form $$\sum_{n,k=1}^\infty c_{n,k}ψ_n(x)ψ_k(y)\ \ \mbox{with} \ \ \sum_{n,k=1}^\infty \left | c_{n,k} \right|^q <\infty\ \mbox{for all}\ q>2,$$ which is universal in $L_μ^1[0,1]^2$ concerning subseries with respect to convergence, in the sense of both spherical and rectangular partial sums.
In this paper we consider a question on existence of double Walsh series universal in weighted $L_μ^1[0,1]^2$ spaces. We construct a weighted function $μ(x,y)$ and a series by double Walsh system of the form $$\sum_{n,k=1}^\infty c_{n,k}W_n(x)W_k(y)\ \ \mbox{with} \ \ \sum_{n,k=1}^\infty \left | c_{n,k} \right|^q <\infty\ \mbox{for all}\ q>2,$$ which is universal in $L_μ^1[0,1]^2$ concerning subseries with respect to convergence, in the sense of both spherical and rectangular partial sums.
The main aim of this paper is to investigate $\left( H_{p},L_{p,\infty }\right) $ type inequalities for maximal operators of Nörlund means with monotone coefficients of one-dimensional Walsh-Kaczmarz system. By applying this results we conclude a.e convergence of such Walsh-Kaczmarz-Nörlund means.
The main aim of this paper is to find necessary and sufficient conditions for the convergence of Walsh-Kaczmarz-Fejér means in the terms of the modulus of continuity on the Hardy spaces $H_{p},$ when $0<p\leq 1/2.$
We study the statistical convergence of metric valued sequences and of their subsequences. The interplay between the statistical and usual convergences in metric spaces is also studied.
In this article we develop the theory of $H$-Orlicz space generated by generalised Young function. Modular convergence of $H$-Orlicz space for the case of vector-valued functions and norm convergence in $\mcH^θ(X, \barμ)$ where $X$ is any Banach space are discussed. Relationships of modular convergence and norm convergence of $H$-Orlicz spaces are discussed.
Let $\mathcal{M}(Ω, μ)$ denote the algebra of all scalar-valued measurable functions on a measure space $(Ω, μ)$. Let $B \subset \mathcal{M}(Ω, μ)$ be a set of finitely supported measurable functions such that the essential range of each $f \in B$ is a subset of $\{ 0,1 \}$. The main result of this paper shows that for any $p \in (0, \infty)$, $B$ has strict $p$-negative type when viewed as a metric subspace of $L_{p}(Ω, μ)$ if and only if $B$ is an affinely independent subset of $\mathcal{M}(Ω, μ)$ (when $\mathcal{M}(Ω, μ)$ is considered as a real vector space). It follows that every two-valu…
A Vitali-type theorem for vector lattice-valued modulars with respect to filter convergence is proved. Some applications are given to modular convergence theorems for moment operatorsin the vector lattice setting, and also for the Brownian motion and related stochastic processes.
The abscissas of convergence, uniform convergence and absolute convergence of vector valued Dirichlet series with respect to the original topology and with respect to the weak topology $σ(X,X')$ of a locally convex space $X$, in particular of a Banach space $X$, are compared. The relation of their coincidence with geometric or topological properties of the underlying space $X$ is investigated. Cotype in the context of Banach spaces, and nuclearity and certain topological invariants for Fréchet spaces play a relevant role.
Filter convergence of vector lattice-valued measures is considered, in order to deduce theorems of convergence for their decompositions. First the $σ$-additive case is studied, without particular assumptions on the filter; later the finitely additive case is faced, first assuming uniform $s$-boundedness (without restrictions on the filter), then relaxing this condition but imposing stronger properties on the filter. In order to obtain the last results, a Schur-type convergence theorem is used.
We give necessary and sufficient conditions for interpolation inequalities of the type considered by Marcinkiewicz and Zygmund to be true in the case of Banach space-valued polynomials and Jacobi weights and nodes. We also study the vector-valued expansion problem of $L_p$-functions in terms of Jacobi polynomials and consider the question of unconditional convergence. The notion of type $p$ with respect to orthonormal systems leads to some characterizations of Hilbert spaces. It is also shown that various vector-valued Jacobi means are equivalent.
We show a Dvoretsky-Rogers type Theorem for the adapted version of the $q$-summing operators to the topology of the convergence of the vector valued integrals on Banach function spaces. In the pursuit of this objective we prove that the mere summability of the identity map does not guaranty that the space has to be finite dimensional, contrarily to the classical case. Some local compactness assumptions on the unit balls are required. Our results open the door to new convergence theorems and tools regarding summability of series of integrable functions and approximation in function spaces, sinc…
A "Bochner-type" integral for vector lattice-valued functions with respect to (possibly infinite) vector lattice-valued measures is presented with respect to abstract convergences, satisfying suitable axioms, and some fundamental properties are studied. Moreover, by means of this integral, some convergence results on operators in vector lattice-valued modulars are proved. Some applications are given to moment kernels and to the Brownian motion.
We study random unconditionality of Dirichlet series in vector-valued Hardy spaces $\mathcal H_p(X)$. It is shown that a Banach space $X$ has type 2 (respectively, cotype 2) if and only if for every choice $(x_n)_n\subset X$ it follows that $(x_n n^{-s})_n$ is Random unconditionally convergent (respectively, divergent) in $\mathcal H_2(X)$. The analogous question on $\mathcal H_p(X)$ spaces for $p\neq2$ is also explored. We also provide explicit examples exhibiting the differences between the unconditionality of $(x_n n^{-s})_n$ in $\mathcal H_p(X)$ and that of $(x_n z^n)_n$ in $H_p(X)$.
Let X be a Banach space and $1\le p<\infty$. We prove interpolation inequalities of Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund type for X-valued polynomials g of degree $\le n$ on $R$, \[c_p (\sum\limits_{i=1}^{n+1} μ_i \| g(t_i)e^{-t_i^2 /2} \|^p)^{1/p} \le (\int\limits_{\RR}^{} \|g(t)e^{-t^2 /2} \|^p dt)^{1/p} \le d_p (\sum\limits_{i=1}^{n+1} μ_i \|g(t_i)e^{-t_i^2 /2} \|^p)^{1/p}\;\;,\] where $(t_i)_1^{n+1}$ are the zeros of the Hermite polynomial $H_{n+1}$ and $(μ_i)_1^{n+1}$ are suitable weights. The validity of the right inequality requires $1<p<4$ and X being a UMD-space. This implies a mean convergence theo…
Let $f$ be a real-valued, degree-$d$ Boolean function defined on the $n$-dimensional Boolean cube $\{\pm 1\}^{n}$, and $f(x) = \sum_{S \subset \{1,\ldots,d\}} \widehat{f}(S) \prod_{k \in S} x_k$ its Fourier-Walsh expansion. The main result states that there is an absolute constant $C >0$ such that the $\ell_{2d/(d+1)}$-sum of the Fourier coefficients of $f:\{\pm 1\}^{n} \rightarrow [-1,1]$ is bounded by $\leq C^{\sqrt{d \log d}}$. It was recently proved that a similar result holds for complex-valued polynomials on the $n$-dimensional poly torus $\mathbb{T}^n$, but that in contrast to this a re…
We introduce Kuelbs-Steadman-type spaces for real-valued functions, with respect to countably additive measures, taking values in Banach spaces. We investigate their main properties and embeddings in $L^p$-type spaces, considering both the norm associated to norm convergence of the involved integrals and that related to weak convergence of the integrals.
We investigate some properties and convergence theorem of Kluvánek-Lewis-Henstock $\m-$integrability for $\m-$measurable functions that we introduced in \cite{ABH}. We give a $\m-$a.e. convergence version of Dominated (resp. Bounded) Convergence Theorem for $\m.$ We introduce Kluvánek-Lewis-Henstock integrable of scalar-valued functions with respect to a set valued measure in a Banach space. Finally we introduce $(KL)-$type Dominated Convergence Theorem for the set-valued Kluvánek-Lewis-Henstock integral.
This paper treats the variation of sets. We attempt to formulate convergence and continuity of set-valued functions in a different way from the theories on sequences of sets and correspondence. In the final section, we also attempt to define differentiation of set-valued functions in a Euclidean space by bijection between two sets.
We study the generic behavior of the method of successive approximations for set-valued mappings in Banach spaces. We consider, in particular, the case of those set-valued mappings which are defined by pairs of nonexpansive mappings and give a positive answer to a question raised by Francesco S. de Blasi.
We introduce the metric space valued in partially ordered groups, and define the convergence of sequences and the multi-valued weak contractions, etc., on the space. We then establish endpoint theorems for the defined maps. Our contributions extend the theory of cone metric space constructed by Huang and Zhang (2007) and some recent results on the fixed point and endpoint theory, such as the endpoint theorem given by Amini-Harandi (2010).
We prove a vector-valued version of Carleson's theorem: Let Y=[X,H]_t be a complex interpolation space between a UMD space X and a Hilbert space H. For p\in(1,\infty) and f\in L^p(T;Y), the partial sums of the Fourier series of f converge to f pointwise almost everywhere. Apparently, all known examples of UMD spaces are of this intermediate form Y=[X,H]_t. In particular, we answer affirmatively a question of Rubio de Francia on the pointwise convergence of Fourier series of Schatten class valued functions.
Suppose that T_t is a symmetric diffusion semigroup on L^2(X) and consider its tensor product extension to the Bochner space L^p(X,B), where B belongs to a certain broad class of UMD spaces. We prove a vector-valued version of the Hopf--Dunford--Schwartz ergodic theorem and show that this extends to a maximal theorem for analytic continuations of the semigroup's extension to L^p(X,B). As an application, we show that such continuations exhibit pointwise convergence.
This paper studies proofs of strong convergence of various iterative algorithms for computing the unique zeros of set-valued accretive operators that also satisfy some weak form of uniform accretivity at zero. More precisely, we extract explicit rates of convergence from these proofs which depend on a modulus of uniform accretivity at zero, a concept first introduced by A. Koutsoukou-Argyraki and the first author in 2015. Our highly modular approach, which is inspired by the logic-based proof mining paradigm, also establishes that a number of seemingly unrelated convergence proofs in the liter…
A more general notion of weight called admissible is introduced and then an investigation is carried out on the a.e. convergence of weighted strong laws of large numbers and their applications to weighted one-sided ergodic Hilbert transforms on vector-valued $L_p$-spaces. Furthermore, the obtained results are applied to the a.e. convergence of random modulated weighted ergodic series, which is also new in the classical setting.
We prove a Montel theorem for Hilbert space valued functions, and a non-commutative version of this theorem, by composing with unitaries to achieve convergence.
We introduce a framework to derive quantitative central limit theorems in the context of non-linear approximation of Gaussian random variables taking values in a separable Hilbert space. In particular, our method provides an alternative to the usual (non-quantitative) finite dimensional distribution convergence and tightness argument for proving functional convergence of stochastic processes. We also derive four moments bounds for Hilbert-valued random variables with possibly infinite chaos expansion, which include, as special cases, all finite-dimensional four moments results for Gaussian app…
It is known that the space of boundedly finite integer-valued measures on a complete separable metric space becomes itself a complete separable metric space when endowed with the weak-hash metric. It is also known that convergence under this topology can be characterised in a way that is similar to the weak convergence of totally finite measures. However, the original proofs of these two fundamental results assume that a certain term is monotonic, which is not the case as we give a counterexample. We manage to clarify these original proofs by addressing specifically the parts that rely on this…
In this paper, we establish $\mathcal B$-valued variational inequalities for differential operators, ergodic averages and symmetric diffusion semigroups under the condition that Banach space $\mathcal B$ has martingale cotype property. These results generalize, on the one hand Pisier and Xu's result on the variational inequalities for $\mathcal B$-valued martingales, on the other hand many classical variational inequalities in harmonic analysis and ergodic theory. Moreover, we show that Rademacher cotype $q$ is necessary for the $\mathcal B$-valued $q$-variational inequalities. As applications…
Let $(X,\|\cdot\|_X)$ be a Banach space. The purpose of this article is to systematically investigate dimension independent properties of vector valued functions $f:\{-1,1\}^n\to X$ on the Hamming cube whose spectrum is bounded above or below. Our proofs exploit contractivity properties of the heat flow, induced by the geometry of the target space $(X,\|\cdot\|_X)$, combined with duality arguments and suitable tools from approximation theory and complex analysis. We obtain a series of improvements of various well-studied estimates for functions with bounded spectrum, including moment compariso…
