We prove that for each Polish space X, the space C(X) of continuous real-valued functions on X satisfies a strong version of the Pytkeev property, if endowed with the compact-open topology. (This shows that whereas it need not be metrizable, it is "very close" to that.)
We also consider the Pytkeev property in the case where C(X) is endowed with the topology of pointwise convergence.
Answering a question of Sakai, we show that the minimal cardinality of a set of reals X such that C_p(X) does not have the Pytkeev property is equal to the pseudo-intersection number p. Our approach leads to a natural characterization of the Pytkeev property of C_p(X) by means of a covering property of X, and to a similar result for the Reznicenko property of C_p(X).
Modifying the known definition of a Pytkeev network, we introduce a notion of Pytkeev$^*$ network and prove that a topological space has a countable Pytkeev network if and only if $X$ is countably tight and has a countable Pykeev$^*$ network. In the paper we establish some stability properties of the class of topological spaces with the strong Pytkeev$^*$-property.
A topological space $X$ has the strong Pytkeev property at a point $x\in X$ if there exists a countable family $\mathcal N$ of subsets of $X$ such that for each neighborhood $O_x\subset X$ and subset $A\subset X$ accumulating at $x$, there is a set $N\in\mathcal N$ such that $N\subset O_x$ and $N\cap A$ is infinite. We prove that for any $\aleph_0$-space $X$ and any space $Y$ with the strong Pytkeev property at a point $y\in Y$ the function space $C_k(X,Y)$ has the strong Pytkeev property at the constant function $X\to \{y\}\subset Y$. If the space $Y$ is rectifiable, then the function space $…
A topological gyrogroup is a gyrogroup endowed with a topology such that the binary operation is jointly continuous and the inverse mapping is also continuous. In this paper, it is proved that if $G$ is a sequential topological gyrogroup with an $ω^ω$-base, then $G$ has the strong Pytkeev property. Moreover, some equivalent conditions about $ω^ω$-base and strong Pytkeev property are given in Baire topological gyrogroups. Finally, it is shown that if $G$ is a strongly countably complete strongly topological gyrogroup, then $G$ contains a closed, countably compact, admissible subgyrogroup $P$ su…
Tukey order are used to compare the cofinal complexity of partially order sets (posets). We prove that there is a $2^\mathfrak{c}$-sized collection of sub-posets in $2^ω$ which forms an antichain in the sense of Tukey ordering. Using the fact that any boundedly-complete sub-poset of $ω^ω$ is a Tukey quotient of $ω^ω$, we answer two open questions published in \cite{FKL16}. The relation between $P$-base and strong Pytkeev$^\ast$ property is investigated. Let $P$ be a poset equipped with a second-countable topology in which every convergent sequence is bounded. Then we prove that any topological…
Being motivated by the famous Kaplansky theorem we study various sequential properties of a Banach space $E$ and its closed unit ball $B$, both endowed with the weak topology of $E$. We show that $B$ has the Pytkeev property if and only if $E$ in the norm topology contains no isomorphic copy of $\ell_1$, while $E$ has the Pytkeev property if and only if it is finite-dimensional. We extend Schlüchtermann and Wheeler's result by showing that $B$ is a (separable) metrizable space if and only if it has countable $cs^\ast$-character and is a $k$-space. As a corollary we obtain that $B$ is Polish if…
The concept of the strong Pytkeev property, recently introduced by Tsaban and Zdomskyy in [32], was successfully applied to the study of the space $C_c(X)$ of all continuous real-valued functions with the compact-open topology on some classes of topological spaces $X$ including Čech-complete Lindelöf spaces. Being motivated also by several results providing various concepts of networks we introduce the class of $\mathfrak{P}$-spaces strictly included in the class of $\aleph$-spaces. This class of generalized metric spaces is closed under taking subspaces, topological sums and countable product…
We consider amalgamation properties of convergent sequences in topological groups and topological vector spaces. The main result of this paper is that, for arbitrary topological groups, Nyikos's property $α_{1.5}$ is equivalent to Arhangel'ski\uı's formally stronger property $α_1$. This result solves a problem of Shakhmatov (2002), and its proof uses a new perturbation argument. We also prove that there is a topological space $X$ such that the space $C_p(X)$ of continuous real-valued functions on $X$, with the topology of pointwise convergence, has Arhangel'ski\uı's property $α_1$ but is not c…
Being motivated by the study of the space $C_c(X)$ of all continuous real-valued functions on a Tychonoff space $X$ with the compact-open topology, we introduced in [15] the concepts of a $cp$-network and a $cn$-network (at a point $x$) in $X$. In the present paper we describe the topology of $X$ admitting a countable $cp$- or $cn$-network at a point $x\in X$. This description applies to provide new results about the strong Pytkeev property, already well recognized and applicable concept originally introduced by Tsaban and Zdomskyy [43]. We show that a Baire topological group $G$ is metrizable…

Let $Y$ be a metrizable space containing at least two points, and let $X$ be a $Y_{\mathcal{I}}$-Tychonoff space for some ideal $\mathcal{I}$ of compact sets of $X$. Denote by $C_{\mathcal{I}}(X,Y)$ the space of continuous functions from $X$ to $Y$ endowed with the $\mathcal{I}$-open topology. We prove that $C_{\mathcal{I}}(X,Y)$ is Fréchet - Urysohn iff $X$ has the property $γ_{\mathcal{I}}$. We characterize zero - dimensional Tychonoff spaces $X$ for which the space $C_{\mathcal{I}}(X,{\bf 2})$ is sequential. Extending the classical theorems of Gerlits, Nagy and Pytkeev we show that if $Y$ i…
We characterize order preserving continuous surjections between compact linearly ordered spaces which admit an averaging operator, together with estimates of the norm of such an operator. This result is used to the study of strengthenings of the separable complementation property in spaces of continuous functions on compact lines. These properties include in particular continuous separable complementation property and existence of a projectional skeleton.

The free topological vector space $V(X)$ over a Tychonoff space $X$ is a pair consisting of a topological vector space $V(X)$ and a continuous map $i=i_{X}: X\rightarrow V(X)$ such that every continuous mapping $f$ from $X$ to a topological vector space $E$ gives rise to a unique continuous linear operator $\overline{f}: V(X)\rightarrow E$ with $f=\overline{f}\circ i$. In this paper the $k$-property and countable tightness of free topological vector space over some generalized metric spaces are studied. The characterization of a space $X$ is given such that the free topological vector space $V…
We prove that for every finite dimensional compact metric space $X$ there is an open continuous linear surjection from $C_p[0,1]$ onto $C_p(X)$. The proof makes use of embeddings introduced by Kolmogorov and Sternfeld in connection with Hilbert's 13th problem.
Let $(X,τ)$ be a Hausdorff space and $n\inω$. We prove that if $X$ admits a continuous selection over $\mathcal{F}_{n}(X)$ (nonempty subsets of $X$ of cardinality at most $n$), then for every $n\leq m\leq 2n$ such that $m$ is not a prime number, $X$ admits a continuous selection over $[X]^m$ (subsets of $X$ of cardinality $m$). As a consequence of this, a space $X$ admits a continuous selection for every natural number if and only if the same is true for every prime number. For Hausdorff spaces $(X,τ)$ which admit continuous selections over $[X]^2$, we characterize the existence of continuous …
We provide several characterizations of the Lebesgue property for fuzzy metric spaces. It is known that a fuzzy metric space is Lebesgue if and only if every real-valued continuous function is uniformly continuous. Here we show that it suffices to examine uniform continuity of bounded real-valued continuous functions for characterizing Lebesgue property in fuzzy setting.
A space $X$ is called a $k_{R}$-space, if $X$ is Tychonoff and the necessary and sufficient condition for a real-valued function $f$ on $X$ to be continuous is that the restriction of $f$ on each compact subset is continuous. In this paper, we mainly discuss the $k_{R}$-property on the free topological groups, and generalize some well-known results of K. Yamada's in the free topological groups.
In classical works, Hurewicz and Menger introduced two diagonalization properties for sequences of open covers. Hurewicz found a combinatorial characterization of these notions in terms of continuous images. Recently, Scheepers has shown that these notions are particular cases in a large family of diagonalization schemas. One of the members of this family is weaker than the Hurewicz property and stronger than the Menger property, and it was left open whether it can be characterized combinatorially in terms of continuous images. We give a positive answer. This paper can serve as an exposition o…
We prove the following two results. 1. If $X$ is a completely regular space such that for every topological space $Y$ each separately continuous function $f:X\times Y\to\mathbb R$ is of the first Baire class, then every Lindelöf subspace of $X$ bijectively continuously maps onto a separable metrizable space. 2. If $X$ is a Baire space, $Y$ is a compact space and $f:X\times Y\to\mathbb R$ is a separately continuous function which is a Baire measurable function, then there exists a dense in $X$ $G_δ$-set $A$ such that $f$ is jointly continuous at every point of $A\times Y$ (this gives a positive…
It is studied a connection between the separability and the countable chain condition of spaces with the $L$-property (a topological space $X$ has the $L$-property if for every topological space $Y$, separately continuous function $f:X\times Y\to\mathbb R$ and open set $I\subseteq \mathbb R$ the set $f^{-1}(I)$ is a $F_σ$-set). We show that every completely regular Baire space with the $L$-property and the countable chain condition is separable and construct a nonseparable completely regular space with the $L$-property and the countable chain condition. This gives a negative answer to a questi…
A topological space has the fixed point property if every continuous self-map of that space has at least one fixed point. We demonstrate that there are serious restraints imposed by the requirement that there be a choice of fixed points that is continuous whenever the self-map varies continuously. To even specify the problem, we introduce the universal fixed point property. Our results apply in particular to the analysis of convex subspaces of Banach spaces, to the topology of finite-dimensional manifolds and CW complexes, and to the combinatorics of Kolmogorov spaces associated with finite po…
A topological space $X$ is Baire if the intersection of any sequence of open dense subsets of $X$ is dense in $X$. Let $C_p(X,[0,1])$ denote the space of all continuous $[0,1]$-valued functions on a Tychonoff space $X$ with the topology of pointwise convergence. In this paper, we have obtained a characterization when the function space $C_p(X,[0,1])$ is Baire for a Tychonoff space $X$ all separable closed subsets of which are $C$-embedded. In particular, this characterization is true for normal spaces and, hence, for metrizable spaces. Moreover, we obtained that the space $C_p(X,[0,1])$ is Bai…
A topological space $Y$ is called a Kempisty space if for any Baire space $X$ every function $f:X\times Y\to\mathbb R$, which is quasi-continuous in the first variable and continuous in the second variable has the Namioka property. Properties of compact Kempisty spaces are studied in this paper. In particular, it is shown that any Valdivia compact is a Kempisty space and the cartesian product of an arbitrary family of compact Kempisty spaces is a Kempisty space.
Every open continuous map f from a space X onto a paracompact C-space Y admits two disjoint closed subsets of X so that their image by f is Y provided all fibers of f are infinite and C*-embedded in X. Applications are demonstrated for the existence of "disjoint" usco multiselections of set-valued l.s.c. mappings defined on paracompact C-spaces, and for special type of factorizations of open continuous maps from metrizable spaces onto paracompact C-spaces. This settles several open questions.
For a Tychonoff space $X$, we denote by $C_p(X)$ the space of all real-valued continuous functions on $X$ with the topology of pointwise convergence. We give the functional characterization of the covering property of Hurewicz.
Homotopy deals with the intuitive idea of continuous deformation of a continuous map between two topological spaces. In this paper, we introduce homotopical selection principles in bitopological dynamical systems. Here, we define $BTDS-$homotopy, $BTDS-$iteration homotopy and $BTDS-$path homotopy, and then using these notions we define various selection properties viz. H-Rothberger property, H-Menger property, PH-Rothberger property, PH-Menger property and their weaker versions. We also discuss several results connecting these concepts in bitopological dynamical systems.
