After recalling briefly the main properties of the amalgamated duplication of a ring $R$ along an ideal $I$, denoted by $R\JoinI$, we restrict our attention to the study of the properties of $R\JoinI$, when $I$ is a multiplicative canonical ideal of $R$ \cite{hhp}. In particular, we study when every regular fractional ideal of $R\Join I$ is divisorial.
In this work, we investigate the transfer of some homological properties from a ring $R$ to his amalgamated duplication along some ideal $I$ of $R$, and then generate new and original families of rings with these properties.
This paper investigates ideal-theoretic as well as homological extensions of the Prufer domain concept to commutative rings with zero divisors in an amalgamated duplication of a ring along an ideal. The new results both compare and contrast with recent results on trivial ring extensions (and pullbacks) as well as yield original families of examples issued from amalgamated duplications subject to various Prufer conditions.
In this paper, we consider five possible extensions of the Prüfer domain notion to the case of commutative rings with zero-divisors. We investigate the transfer of these Prüfer-like properties between a ring $R$ and $R\bowtie I$; his amalgamated duplication along some ideal $I$, and then generate new and original families of rings with these properties.
We introduce a new general construction, denoted by $R\JoinE$, called the amalgamated duplication of a ring $R$ along an $R$--module $E$, that we assume to be an ideal in some overring of $R$. (Note that, when $E^2 =0$, $R\JoinE$ coincides with the Nagata's idealization $R\ltimes E$.) After discussing the main properties of the amalgamated duplication $R\JoinE$ in relation with pullback--type constructions, we restrict our investigation to the study of $R\JoinE$ when $E$ is an ideal of $R$. Special attention is devoted to the ideal-theoretic properties of $R\JoinE$ and to the topological struc…
Let $f:A \to B$ be a ring homomorphism and let $J$ be an ideal of $B$. In this paper, we study the amalgamation of $A$ with $B$ along $J$ with respect to $f$ (denoted by ${A\Join^fJ}$), a construction that provides a general frame for studying the amalgamated duplication of a ring along an ideal, introduced and studied by D'Anna and Fontana in 2007, and other classical constructions (such as the $A+ XB[X]$, the $A+ XB[[X]]$ and the $D+M$ constructions). In particular, we completely describe the prime spectrum of the amalgamated duplication and we give bounds for its Krull dimension.
Let $f:A \to B$ be a ring homomorphism and $J$ an ideal of $B$. In this paper, we initiate a systematic study of a new ring construction called the "amalgamation of $A$ with $B$ along $J$ with respect to $f$". This construction finds its roots in a paper by J.L. Dorroh appeared in 1932 and provides a general frame for studying the amalgamated duplication of a ring along an ideal, introduced and studied by D'Anna and Fontana in 2007, and other classical constructions such as the $A+ XB[X]$ and $A+ XB[[X]]$ constructions, the CPI-extensions of Boisen and Sheldon, the $D+M$ constructions and the …
Given a numerical semigroup ring $R=k[\![S]\!]$, an ideal $E$ of $S$ and an odd element $b \in S$, the numerical duplication $S \! \Join^b \! E$ is a numerical semigroup, whose associated ring $k[\![S \! \Join^b \! E]\!]$ shares many properties with the Nagata's idealization and the amalgamated duplication of $R$ along the monomial ideal $I=(t^e \mid e\in E)$. In this paper we study the associated graded ring of the numerical duplication characterizing when it is Cohen-Macaulay, Gorenstein or complete intersection. We also study when it is a homogeneous numerical semigroup, a property that is …
Let $f: A\rightarrow B$ and $g: A\rightarrow C$ be two commutative ring homomorphisms and let $J$ and $J'$ be two ideals of $B$ and $C$, respectively, such that $f^{-1}(J)=g^{-1}(J')$. The \emph{bi-amalgamation} of $A$ with $(B, C)$ along $(J, J')$ with respect to $(f,g)$ is the subring of $B\times C$ given by $$A\bowtie^{f,g}(J,J'):=\big\{(f(a)+j,g(a)+j') \mid a\in A, (j,j')\in J\times J'\big\}.$$ This paper investigates ring-theoretic properties of \emph{bi-amalgamations} and capitalizes on previous works carried on various settings of pullbacks and amalgamations. In the second and third sec…
Let $f:A \rightarrow B$ be a ring homomorphism and let $J$ be an ideal of $B$. In this paper, we study the amalgamation of $A$ with $B$ along $J$ with respect to $f$, a construction that provides a general frame for studying the amalgamated duplication of a ring along an ideal, introduced by D'Anna and Fontana in 2007, and other classical constructions (such as the $A+ XB[X]$, the $A+ XB[\![X]\!]$ and the $D+M$ constructions). In particular, we completely describe the prime spectrum of the amalgamation and, when it is a local Noetherian ring, we study its embedding dimension and when it turns …
In this paper, we study the classes of rings in which every proper (regular) ideal can be factored as an invertible ideal times a nonempty product of proper radical ideals. More precisely, we investigate the stability of these properties under homomorphic image and their transfer to various contexts of constructions such as direct product, trivial ring extension and amalgamated duplication of a ring along an ideal. Our results generate examples that enrich the current literature with new and original families of rings satisfying these properties.
The notion of 2-almost Gorenstein local ring (2-AGL ring for short) is a generalization of the notion of almost Gorenstein local ring from the point of view of Sally modules of canonical ideals. In this paper, for further developments of the theory, we discuss three different topics on 2-AGL rings. The first one is to clarify the structure of minimal presentations of canonical ideals, and the second one is the study of the question of when certain fiber products, so called amalgamated duplications are 2-AGL rings. We also explore Ulrich ideals in 2-AGL rings, mainly two-generated ones.
Starting with a commutative ring $R$ and an ideal $I$, it is possible to define a family of rings $R(I)_{a,b}$, with $a,b \in R$, as quotients of the Rees algebra $\oplus_{n \geq 0} I^nt^n$; among the rings appearing in this family we find Nagata's idealization and amalgamated duplication. Many properties of these rings depend only on $R$ and $I$ and not on $a,b$; in this paper we show that the Gorenstein and the almost Gorenstein properties are independent of $a,b$. More precisely, we characterize when the rings in the family are Gorenstein, complete intersection, or almost Gorenstein and we …
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with identity and $S$ a multiplicatively closed subset of $R$. This paper aims to introduce the concept of $S$-$n$-ideals as a generalization of $n$-ideals. An ideal $I$ of $R$ disjoint with $S$ is called an $S$-$n$-ideal if there exists $s\in S$ such that whenever $ab\in I$ for $a,b\in R$, then $sa\in\sqrt{0}$ or $sb\in I$. The relationship among $S$% -$n$-ideals, $n$-ideals, $S$-prime and $S$-primary ideals are clarified. Several properties, characterizations and examples are presented such as investigating $S$-$n$-ideals under various contexts of constructions …
