We describe the central measures for the random walk on graded graphs. Using this description, we obtain the list of all finite traces on three infinite-dimensional algebras: on the Brauer algebra, on the partition algebra, and on the walled Brauer algebra. For the first two algebras, these lists coincide with the list of all finite traces of the infinite symmetric group. For the walled Brauer algebra, the list of finite traces coincide with the list of finite traces of the square of the latter group. We introduce the operation which corresponds to the graph another graph which called "Pasclization" of the initial graph and then give the general criteria for coinsidness of the sets of traces on both graphs.
We describe how traceless projection of tensors of a given rank can be constructed in a closed form. On the way to this goal we invoke the representation theory of the Brauer algebra and the related Schur-Weyl dualities. The resulting traceless projector is constructed from purely combinatorial data involving Young diagrams. By construction, the projector manifestly commutes with the symmetric group and is well-adapted to restrictions to $GL$-irreducible tensor representations. We develop auxiliary computational techniques which serve to take advantage of the obtained results for applications.…
We define an infinite chain of subcategories of the partition category by introducing the left-height ($l$) of a partition. For the Brauer case, the chain starts with the Temperley-Lieb ($l=-1$) and ends with the Brauer ($l=\infty$) category. The End sets are algebras, i.e., an infinite tower thereof for each $l$, whose representation theory is studied in the paper.
We introduce some graded versions of the walled Brauer algebra, working over a field of characteristic zero. This allows us to prove that the walled Brauer algebra is Morita equivalent to an idempotent truncation of a certain infinite dimensional version of Khovanov's arc algebra, as suggested by recent work of Cox and De Visscher. We deduce that the walled Brauer algebra is Koszul whenever its defining parameter is non-zero.
A cellular algebra is called cyclic cellular if all cell modules are cyclic. Most important examples of cellular algebras appearing in representation theory are in fact cyclic cellular. We prove that if $A$ is a cyclic cellular algebra, then the wreath product of $A$ with the symmetric group on $n$ letters is also cyclic cellular. We also introduce $A$--Brauer algebras, for algebras $A$ with an involution and trace. This class of algebras includes, in particular, $G$--Brauer algebras for non-abelian groups $G$. We prove that if $A$ is cyclic cellular then the $A$--Brauer algebras $D_n(A)$ are …
We construct a faithful categorical representation of an infinite Temperley-Lieb algebra on the periplectic analogue of Deligne's category. We use the corresponding combinatorics to classify thick tensor ideals in this periplectic Deligne category. This allows to determine the objects in the kernel of the monoidal functor going to the module category of the periplectic Lie supergroup. We use this to classify indecomposable direct summands in the tensor powers of the natural representation, determine which are projective and determine their simple top.
We construct an infinite tower of irreducible calibrated representations of periplectic Brauer algebras on which the cup-cap generators act by nonzero matrices. As representations of the symmetric group, these are exterior powers of the standard representation (i.e. hook representations). Our approach uses the recently-defined degenerate affine periplectic Brauer algebra, which plays a role similar to that of the degenerate affine Hecke algebra in representation theory of the symmetric group. We write formulas for the representing matrices in the basis of Jucys--Murphy eigenvectors and we comp…
A new class of associative algebras referred to as affine walled Brauer algebras are introduced. These algebras are free with infinite rank over a commutative ring containing 1. Then level two walled Brauer algebras over C are defined, which are some cyclotomic quotients of affine walled Brauer algebras. We establish a super Schur-Weyl duality between affine walled Brauer algebras and general linear Lie superalgebras, and realize level two walled Brauer algebras as endomorphism algebras of tensor modules of Kac modules with mixed tensor products of the natural module and its dual over general …
In this paper we prove Schur-Weyl duality between the symplectic group and Brauer algebra over an arbitrary infinite field $K$. We show that the natural homomorphism from the Brauer algebra $B_n(-2m)$ to the endomorphism algebra of tensor space $(K^{2m})^{\otimes n}$ as a module over the symplectic similitude group $GSp_{2m}(K)$ (or equivalently, as a module over the symplectic group $Sp_{2m}(K)$) is always surjective. Another surjectivity, that of the natural homomorphism from the group algebra for $GSp_{2m}(K)$ to the endomorphism algebra of $(K^{2m})^{\otimes n}$ as a module over $B_n(-2m)$…
Recently, a new conjecture on the degrees of the irreducible Brauer characters of a finite group was presented by the second author. In this paper we propose a 'local' version of this conjecture for blocks B of finite groups, giving a lower bound for the maximal degree of an irreducible Brauer character belonging to B in terms of the dimension of B and well-known invariants like the defect and the number of irreducible Brauer characters. We also propose a weaker version of this conjecture for which a slight reformulation leads to interesting open questions about traces of Cartan matrices of bl…
Let $\Bbbk$ be a field, $G$ a group, and $(Q, I)$ a bound quiver. A map $W\colon Q_1 \to G$ is called a $G$-weight on $Q$, which defines a $G$-graded $\Bbbk$-category $\Bbbk(Q, W)$, and $W$ is called homogeneous if $I$ is a homogeneous ideal of the $G$-graded $\Bbbk$-category $\Bbbk(Q, W)$. Then we have a $G$-graded $\Bbbk$-category $\Bbbk(Q, I, W):= \Bbbk(Q, W)/I$. We can then form a smash product $\Bbbk(Q, I, W)\# G$ of $\Bbbk(Q, I, W)$ and $G$, which canonically defines a Galois covering $\Bbbk(Q, I, W)\# G \to \Bbbk(Q, I)$ with group $G$ (we will see that all such Galois coverings to $\Bbb…
We propose gauge theory operators built using a complex Matrix scalar which are dual to brane-anti-brane systems in $AdS_5 \times S^5 $, in the zero coupling limit of the dual Yang-Mills. The branes involved are half-BPS giant gravitons. The proposed operators dual to giant-anti-giant configurations satisfy the appropriate orthogonality properties. Projection operators in Brauer algebras are used to construct the relevant multi-trace Matrix operators. These are related to the ``coupled representations'' which appear in 2D Yang-Mills theory. We discuss the implications of these results for the …
In continuation of our recent work arXiv:2006.07312, we classify the extremal traces on infinite diagram algebras that appear in the context of Schur-Weyl duality for Banica and Speicher's easy groups. We show that the branching graphs of these algebras describe walks on new variations of the Young graph which describe curious ways of growing Young diagrams. As a consequence, we prove that the extremal traces on generic rook-Brauer algebras are always extensions of extremal traces on the group algebra $\mathbb{C}[S_{\infty}]$ of the infinite symmetric group. Moreover, we conjecture that the sa…
We prove Schur--Weyl duality between the Brauer algebra $\mathfrak{B}_n(m)$ and the orthogonal group $O_{m}(K)$ over an arbitrary infinite field $K$ of odd characteristic. If $m$ is even, we show that each connected component of the orthogonal monoid is a normal variety; this implies that the orthogonal Schur algebra associated to the identity component is a generalized Schur algebra. As an application of the main result, an explicit and characteristic-free description of the annihilator of $n$-tensor space $V^{\otimes n}$ in the Brauer algebra $mathfrak{B}_n(m)$ is also given.
We give an elementary proof of the first fundamental theorem of the invariant theory for the orthosymplectic supergroup by generalising the method of Atiyah, Bott and Patodi to the supergroup context. We use methods from super-algebraic geometry to convert invariants of the orthosymplectic supergroup into invariants of the corresponding general linear supergroup on a different space. In this way, a super Schur-Weyl-Brauer duality is established between the orthosymplectic supergroup of superdimension $(m|2n)$ and the Brauer algebra with parameter $m-2n$. The result may be interpreted in terms …
Nazarov \cite{Nazarov:brauer} introduced an infinite dimensional algebra, which he called the \textit{affine Wenzl algebra}, in his study of the Brauer algebras. In this paper we study certain ``cyclotomic quotients'' of these algebras. We construct the irreducible representations of these algebras in the generic case and use this to show that these algebras are free of rank $r^n(2n-1)!!$ (when $Ω$ is $\bu$--admissible). We next show that these algebras are cellular and give a labelling for the simple modules of the cyclotomic Nazarov--Wenzl algebras over an arbitrary field. In particular, thi…
We give a survey on the theory of representation-finite and certain minimal representation-infinite algebras. The main goals are the existence of multiplicative bases and of coverings with good properties. Both are attained via ray-categories. As applications we include a proof of a sharper version of the second Brauer-Thrall conjecture and of the fact that there are no gaps in the lengths of the indecomposable modules over an algebra.
The paper contains a survey of train constructions for infinite symmetric groups and related groups. For certain pairs (a group $G$, a subgroup $K$), we construct categories, whose morphisms are two-dimensional surfaces tiled by polygons and colored in a certain way. A product of morphisms is a gluing of combinatorial bordisms. For a unitary representation of $G$ we assign a functor from the category of bordisms to the category of Hilbert spaces and bounded operators. The construction has numerous variations, instead of surfaces there arise also one-dimensional objects of Brauer diagram type, …
A new class of locally unital and locally finite dimensional algebras $A$ over an arbitrary algebraically closed field is discovered. Each of them admits an upper finite weakly triangular decomposition, a generalization of an upper finite triangular decomposition. Any locally unital algebra which admits an upper finite Cartan decomposition is Morita equivalent to some special locally unital algebra $A$ which admits an upper finite weakly triangular decomposition. It is established that the category $A$-lfdmod of locally finite dimensional left $A$-modules is an upper finite fully stratified ca…
Motivated by a new conjecture on the behavior of bricks, we start a systematic study of minimal $τ$-tilting infinite algebras. In particular, we treat minimal $τ$-tilting infinite algebras as a modern counterpart of minimal representation infinite algebras and show some of the fundamental similarities and differences between these families. We then relate our studies to the classical tilting theory and observe that this modern approach can provide fresh impetus to the study of some old problems. We further show that in order to verify the conjecture it is sufficient to treat those minimal $τ$-…
The infinite-dimensional Iwahori--Hecke algebras $\mathcal{H}_\infty(q)$ are direct limits of the usual finite-dimensional Iwahori--Hecke algebras. They arise in a natural way as convolution algebras of bi-invariant functions on groups $\mathrm{GLB}(\mathbb{F}_q)$ of infinite-dimensional matrices over finite-fields having only finite number of non-zero matrix elements under the diagonal. In 1988 Vershik and Kerov classified all indecomposable positive traces on $\mathcal{H}_\infty(q)$. Any such trace generates a representation of the double $\mathcal{H}_\infty(q)\otimes \mathcal{H}_\infty(q)$ …
The article is devoted to the representation theory of locally compact infinite-dimensional group $\mathbb{GLB}$ of almost upper-triangular infinite matrices over the finite field with $q$ elements. This group was defined by S.K., A.V., and Andrei Zelevinsky in 1982 as an adequate $n=\infty$ analogue of general linear groups $\mathbb{GL}(n,q)$. It serves as an alternative to $\mathbb{GL}(\infty,q)$, whose representation theory is poor. Our most important results are the description of semi-finite unipotent traces (characters) of the group $\mathbb{ GLB}$ via certain probability measures on the…
