The moduli space of solutions to Nahm's equations of rank (k,k+j) on the circle, and hence, of SU(2) calorons of charge (k,j), is shown to be equivalent to the moduli of holomorphic rank 2 bundles on P^1xP^1 trivialized at infinity with c_2=k and equipped with a flag of degree j along P^1x{0}. An explicit matrix description of these spaces is given by a monad construction
In this paper, we study some basic properties of the octonionic Nahm's equations over $[0,1]$. We prove that the moduli space of the smooth solutions to the octonionic Nahm's equations over $[0,1]$ is a star-shaped smooth manifold with a complete metric. In addition, for any commuting triples of the cotangent bundle of a complex Lie group, we construct solutions to the octonionic Nahm's equations. Moreover, we introduce extra symmetry and study a decoupled version of the octonionic Nahm's equations over $[0,1]$. We prove a Kempf-Ness theorem for the meromorphic solutions to the decoupled octon…
Nahm's equations are viewed in a more general context where they appear as a vector field on a moduli space of co-Higgs bundles on the projective line. Zeros of this vector field correspond to torsion-free sheaves on a singular spectral curve which we translate in terms of a smooth curve in three-dimensional projective space. We also show how generalizations of Nahm's equations are required when the spectral curve is non-reduced and deduce the existence of non-classical conserved quantities in this situation.
In this paper we develop a Kobayashi-Hitchin type correspondence between solutions of the extended Bogomolny equations on $Σ\times \RP$ with Nahm pole singularity at $Σ\times \{0\}$ and the Hitchin component of the stable $SL(2,\mathbb{R})$ Higgs bundle; this verifies a conjecture of Gaiotto and Witten. We also develop a partial Kobayashi-Hitchin correspondence for solutions with a knot singularity in this program, corresponding to the non-Hitchin components in the moduli space of stable $SL(2,\mathbb{R})$ Higgs bundles. We also prove existence and uniqueness of solutions with knot singulariti…
We formulate a correspondence between SU(2) monopole chains and ``spectral data'', consisting of curves in $\mathbb{CP}^1\times\mathbb{CP}^1$ equipped with parabolic line bundles. This is the analogue for monopole chains of Donaldson's association of monopoles with rational maps. The construction is based on the Nahm transform, which relates monopole chains to Higgs bundles on the cylinder. As an application, we classify charge $k$ monopole chains which are invariant under actions of $\mathbb{Z}_{2k}$. We present images of these symmetric monopole chains that were constructed using a numerical…
This paper describes the behavior of sequences of solutions to the Kapustin-Witten equations with Nahm pole asymptotics on the product of the half-line with a compact, oriented, Riemannian 3-manifold. These sequences have sub-sequences that either converge to another solution after acting term-wise by an automorphism of the principle bundle, or they converge after renormalization to a (weak) Z/2 harmonic 1-form from the 3-manifold; it is independent of the half-line coordinate in the product structure.
We study supersymmetric deformations of N = 4 quantum mechanics with a Kahler target space admitting a holomorphic isometry. We show that the twisted mass deformation generalises to a deformation constructed from matrix-valued functions of the moment map, which obey the Nahm equations. We also explain how N = 4 supersymmetry implies that the Berry connection on the vacuum bundle for this theory satisfies the BPS monopole equations. In the case where the target space is a Riemann sphere, our analysis reduces to the standard Nahm construction of monopoles. This generalises an earlier result by S…
We consider Chern-Simons theory on 3-manifold $M$ that is the total space of a circle bundle over a 2d base $Σ$. We show that this theory is equivalent to a new 2d TQFT on the base, which we call Caloron BF theory, that can be obtained by an appropriate type of push-forward. This is a gauge theory on a bundle with structure group given by the full affine level $k$ central extension of the loop group $LG$. The space of fields of this 2d theory is naturally symplectic, and this provides a new formulation of a result of Beasley-Witten about the equivariant localization of the Chern-Simons path in…
Generalizing work of Haydys and Hitchin, we prove the existence of a hyperholomorphic line bundle on certain hyperkähler manifolds that do not necessarily admit an $S^1$ action. As examples, we consider the moduli space of (non-strongly) parabolic Higgs bundles, the moduli space of solutions to Nahm's equations, and Nakajima quiver varieties.
We develop a Kobayashi-Hitchin correspondence for the extended Bogomolny equations, i.e., the dimensionally reduced Kapustin-Witten equations, on the product of a compact Riemann surface $Σ$ with ${\mathbb R}^+_y$, with generalized Nahm pole boundary conditions at $y=0$. The correspondence is between solutions of these equations satisfying these singular boundary conditions and also limiting to flat connections as $y \to \infty$, and certain holomorphic data consisting of effective triplets $(\mathcal E, φ, L)$ where $(\mathcal E, φ)$ is a stable $\mathrm{SL}(n+1,\mathbb C)$ Higgs pair and $L …
