We establish the analytic non-integrability of the nonholonomic ellipsoidal rattleback model for a large class of parameter values. Our approach is based on the study of the monodromy group of the normal variational equations around a particular orbit. The embedding of the equations of the heavy rigid body into the rattleback model is discussed.
There are many works studying the integrability of the Bianchi class A cosmologies with k=1. Here we characterize the analytic integrability of the Bianchi class A cosmological models when 0<= k<1.
In this work it is solved the analytic integrability problem around a nilpotent singularity of a differential system in the plane under generic conditions.
We study the existence of real-analytic first integrals and real-analytic integrability for perturbations of integrable systems in the sense of Bogoyavlenskij including non-Hamiltonian ones. We especially assume that there exists a family of periodic orbits on a regular level set of the first integrals having a connected and compact component and give sufficient conditions for nonexistence of the same number of real-analytic first integrals in the perturbed systems as the unperturbed ones and for their real-analytic nonintegrability near the level set such that the first integrals and commutat…
We study the integrability of the geodesic equations of the Chazy- Curzon space-time. It was established that for the equilibrium point $p_ρ=p_z=z=0$ and, $ρ_0 \in (1,\, 2)$, there are only periodic solutions, the Hamiltonian system, describing geodesic motion of Chazy-Curzon space-time has no additional analytic first integral. Our approach is based on the following: if the system has a family of periodic solutions around an equilibrium and if the period function is infinitely branched then the system has no additional analytical first integral.
We solve the analytic integrability problem for diferential systems in the plane whose origin is an isolated singularity and the first homogeneous component is a quadratic Lotka-Volterra type. As an application, we give the analytically integrable systems of a class of systems $\dot{x}= x(P1+P2)$; $\dot{y}= y(Q1+Q2)$; being Pi,Qi homogeneous polynomials of degree i.
This note constructs a compact, real-analytic, riemannian 4-manifold (Σ, g) with the properties that: (1) its geodesic flow is completely integrable with smooth but not real-analytic integrals; (2) Σ is diffeomorphic to $T^2 \times S^2$ ; and (3) the limit set of the geodesic flow on the universal cover is dense. This shows there are obstructions to realanalytic integrability beyond the topology of the configuration space.
In this paper, we present two classes of lopsided systems and discuss their analytic integrability. The analytic integrable conditions are obtained by using the method of inverse integrating factor and theory of rotated vector field. For the first class of systems, we show that there are n + 4 small-amplitude limit cycles enclosing the origin of the systems for n ? 2, and 10 limit cyclesfor n = 1. For the second class of systems, we prove that there exist n+4 small-amplitude limit cycles around the origin of the systems for n ? 2, and 9 limit cycles for n = 1.
This paper studies smooth obstructions to integrability and proves two main results. First, it is shown that if a smooth topological n-torus admits a real-analytically completely integrable convex hamiltonian on its cotangent bundle, then the torus is diffeomorphic to the standard n-torus. This is the first known result where the smooth structure of a manifold obstructs complete integrability. Second, it is proven that each one of the Witten-Kreck-Stolz 7-manifolds admit a real-analytically completely integrable geodesic flow on its cotangent bundle. This gives examples of topological manifold…
It is shown that for generic configuration of the centres at high energy levels the n-centre problem is completely integrable by using $C^\infty$ integrals of the motion however it is not integrable in terms of real analytic functions
It is known that for $n \geq 3$ centres and positive energies the $n$-centre problem of celestial mechanics leads to a flow with a strange repellor and positive topological entropy. Here we consider the energies above some threshold and show: Whereas for arbitrary $g >1$ independent integrals of Gevrey class $g$ exist, no real-analytic (that is, Gevrey class 1) independent integral exists.
In this paper it is shown that the Hamiltonian system with Dyson potential is analytical non-integrable and formal non-integrable. The approach is based on the following: when a system has a family of periodic solutions around an equilibrium and if the period function is infinitely branched then the system has non additional analytic first integral. We prove formal non-integrability using Ziglin-Moralez-Ruiz-Ramis theory.
A unique analytic continuation result is proved for solutions of a relatively general class of difference equations, using techniques of generalized Borel summability. This continuation allows for Painlevé property methods to be extended to difference equations. It is shown that the Painlevé property (PP) induces, under relatively general assumptions, a dichotomy within first order difference equations: all equations with PP can be solved in closed form; on the contrary, absence of PP implies, under some further assumptions, that the local conserved quantities are strictly local in the sense t…
In this paper, we consider the normal form problem of a commutative family of germs of diffeomorphisms at a fixed point, say the origin, of $\mathbb{K}^n$ ($\mathbb{K}=\mathbb{C}$ or $\mathbb{R}$). We define a notion of integrability of such a family. We give sufficient conditions which ensure that such an integrable family can be transformed into a normal form by an analytic (resp. a smooth) transformation if the initial diffeomorphisms are analytic (resp. smooth).
We consider a special type of triple pendulum with two pendula attached to end mass of another one. Although we consider this system in the absence of the gravity, a quick analysis of of Poincaré cross sections shows that it is not integrable. We give an analytic proof of this fact analysing properties the of differential Galois group of variational equation along certain particular solutions of the system.
Singular complex analytic vector fields on the Riemann surfaces enjoy several geometric properties (singular means that poles and essential singularities are admissible). We describe relations between singular complex analytic vector fields $\mathbb{X}$ and smooth vector fields $X$. Our approximation route studies three integrability notions for real smooth vector fields $X$ with singularities on the plane or the sphere. The first notion is related to Cauchy-Riemann equations, we say that a vector field $X$ admits an adapted complex structure $J$ if there exists a singular complex analytic vec…
Based on the Lie group theory, the one-parameter Lie group admitted by a Silnikov equation is studied. The result reveals that the Silnikov equation accepts no global analytical non-trivial one-parameter Lie group. In this sense, the Silnikov equation is not integrable in quadrature.
For an $n$--dimensional local analytic differential system $\dot x=Ax+f(x)$ with $f(x)=O(|x|^2)$, the Poincaré nonintegrability theorem states that if the eigenvalues of $A$ are not resonant, the system does not have an analytic or a formal first integral in a neighborhood of the origin. This result was extended in 2003 to the case when $A$ admits one zero eigenvalue and the other are non--resonant: for $n=2$ the system has an analytic first integral at the origin if and only if the origin is a non--isolated singular point; for $n>2$ the system has a formal first integral at the origin if and …
A symplectic theory approach is devised for solving the problem of algebraic-analytical construction of integral submanifold imbeddings for integrable (via the nonabelian Liouville-Arnold theorem) Hamiltonian systems on canonically symplectic phase spaces.
The paper deals with the problem of existence of a convergent "strong" normal form in the neighbourhood of an equilibrium, for a finite dimensional system of differential equations with analytic and time-dependent non-linear term. The problem can be solved either under some non-resonance hypotheses on the spectrum of the linear part or if the non-linear term is assumed to be (slowly) decaying in time. This paper "completes" a pioneering work of Pustil'nikov in which, despite under weaker non-resonance hypotheses, the nonlinearity is required to be asymptotically autonomous. The result is obtai…
We study under the standpoint of integrable complex analytic 1-forms (complex analytic foliations), a class of second order ordinary differential equations with periodic coefficients. More precisely, we study Hill's equations of motion of the moon, which are related to the dynamics of the system Sun-Earth-Moon. We associate to the {\em complex Hill equation} an integrable complex analytic one-form in dimension three. This defines a {\it Hill foliation}. The existence of first integral for a Hill foliation is then studied. The simple cases correspond to the existence of rational or Liouvillian …
We solve the Poincaré problem for plane foliations with only one dicritical divisor. Moreover, in this case, we give an algorithm that decides whether a foliation has a rational first integral and computes it in the affirmative case. We also provide an algorithm to compute a rational first integral of prefixed genus $g\neq 1$ of any type of plane foliation $\cf$. When the number of dicritical divisors dic$(\cf)$ is larger than two, this algorithm depends on suitable families of invariant curves. When dic$(\cf) = 2$, it proves that the degree of the rational first integral can be bounded only i…
This paper is dedicated to proving the complete integrability of the Benjamin--Ono (BO) equation on the line when restricted to every $N$-soliton manifold, denoted by $\mathcal{U}_N$. We construct generalized action--angle coordinates which establish a real analytic symplectomorphism from $\mathcal{U}_N$ onto some open convex subset of $\mathbb{R}^{2N}$ and allow to solve the equation by quadrature for any such initial datum. As a consequence, $\mathcal{U}_N$ is the universal covering of the manifold of $N$-gap potentials for the BO equation on the torus as described by Gérard--Kappeler $[19]$…
