We propose a definition of sampling set for the Nevanlinna class in the disk, i.e. a subset of the disk such that the analogue of the norm of a function in the Nevanlinna class can be recovered only from its values on the subset.
We show it is equivalent with the notion of determination set for the same class, that is, subsets such that any function in the class which is bounded on the subset must be bounded everywhere (by the same bound, in fact); and more restrictive than the condition of being a determination set for the class of differences of positive harmonic functions (which had been studied in particular by Hayman, Lyons, and Gardiner).
We give sufficient conditions for sampling to hold, as well as necessary conditions (different but closely related), and show that in the case of certain (natural) regular sets, the necessary and sufficient conditions coincide and characterize the sampling property in a numerically precise way.
In particular, we observe a remarkable agreement with the results of Joaquim Ortega-Cerdà and Kristian Seip about "champagne subdomains", the complement in the unit disk of a union of hyperbolic disks centered on a maximal hyperbolically separated subsequence, the radii of which decrease uniformly as they approach the unit circle (arXiv:math.CV/0305075).
Our methods involve a careful analysis of the decrease of the modulus of a Blaschke product.
The purpose of this paper is to characterize the zero sets of holomorphic functions in the Nevanlinna class on a class of convex domains of infinite type in $\mathbb{C}^2$. Moreover, we also obtain $L^p$ estimates, $1 \leq p \leq \infty$, for a particular solution of the tangential Cauchy-Riemann equation on the boundaries of these domains.
Let $U\not\equiv \pm\infty$ be a $δ$-subharmonic function on a closed disc of radius $R$ centered at zero. In the previous two parts of our paper, we obtained general and explicit estimates of the integral of the positive part of the radial maximum growth characteristic ${\mathsf M}_U(t):= \sup\bigl\{U(z)\bigm| |z|=r\bigr\}$ over the increasing integration function $m$ on the segment $[0, r]\subset [0,R)$ through the difference characteristic of Nevanlinna and the quantities associated with the integration function $m$. The third part of our paper contains estimates of these quantities in term…
We prove that, given a function $f$ in the Nevanlinna class $N$ and a positive integer $n$, there exist $g\in N$ and $h\in BMOA$ such that $f^{(n)}=gh^{(n)}$. We may choose $g$ to be zero-free, so it follows that the zero sets for the class $N^{(n)}:=\{f^{(n)}: f\in N\}$ are the same as those for $BMOA^{(n)}$. Furthermore, while the set of all products $gh^{(n)}$ (with $g$ and $h$ as above) is strictly larger than $N^{(n)}$, we show that the gap is not too large, at least when $n=1$. Precisely speaking, the class $\{gh': g\in N, h\in BMOA\}$ turns out to be the smallest ideal space containing …
This survey shows how, for the Nevanlinna class N of the unit disc, one can define and often characterize the analogues of well-known objects and properties related to the algebra of bounded analytic functions $ H^\infty$: interpolating sequences, Corona theorem, sets of determination, stable rank, as well as the more recent notions of Weak Embedding Property and threshold of invertibility for quotient algebras. The general rule we observe is that a given result for $H^\infty$ can be transposed to N by replacing uniform bounds by a suitable control by positive harmonic functions. We show sever…
This paper is concerned with the distribution of normalized zero-sets of random entire functions. The normalization of the zero-set is performed in the same way as that of the counting function for an entire function in Nevanlinna theory. The result generalizes the Shiffman and Zelditch theory on the distribution of the zeroes of random holomorphic sections of powers for positive Hermitian holomorphic line bundles from polynomial functions to entire functions. Our result can also be viewed as the analogy of Nevanlinna's First Main Theorem in the theory of the distribution of zero-sets of rando…
In the late ten years, the resolution of the equation $\bar\partial u=f$ with sharp estimates has been intensively studied for convex domains of finite type by many authors. In this paper, we consider the case of lineally convex domains. As the method used to obtain global estimates for a support function cannot be carried out in this case, we use a kernel that does not gives directly a solution of the $\bar\partial$-equation but only a representation formula which allows us to end the resolution of the equation using Kohn's $L^2$ theory. As an application we give the characterization of the z…
We provide results of uniqueness for holomorphic functions in the Nevanlinna class bridging those previously obtained by Hayman and Lyubarskii-Seip. Namely, we propose certain classes of hyperbolically separated sequences in the disk, in terms of the rate of non-tangential accumulation to the boundary (the endpoints of this spectrum of classes being respectively the sequences with a non-tangential cluster set of positive measure, and the sequences violating the Blaschke condition); and for each of those classes, we give a critical condition of radial decrease on the modulus which will force a …
This paper studies the determining sets for analytic functions from the symmetrized bidisk into the open unit disk in $\mathbb C$. It relates the idea to the uniqueness of the solutions of a Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation problem. It also investigates when certain thin sets can be determining.
Two different problems are considered here. First, a version of Schwarz-Pick Lemma for $n$ points leads to an interpolation problem for analytic functions from the disc into itself, which may be considered as a particular case of the classical Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation problem. Second, a characterization of sampling sequences for this class of functions is given.
The maximum of the modulus of a meromorphic function cannot be restricted from above by the Nevanlinna characteristic of this meromorphic function. But integrals from the logarithm of the module of a meromorphic function allow similar restrictions from above. This is illustrated by one of the important theorems of Rolf Nevanlinna in the classical monograph by A.A. Goldberg and I.V. Ostrovskii on meromorphic functions, as well as by the Edrei-Fuchs Lemma on small arcs and its versions for small intervals in articles by A.F. Grishin, M.L. Sodin, T.I. Malyutina. Similar results for integrals of d…
We consider a problem of whether a property of holomorphic curves on a subset $X$ of the complex plane can be extended to the whole complex plane. In this paper, the property we consider is uniqueness of holomorphic curves. We introduce the propagation set. Simply speaking, $X$ is a propagation set if linear relation of holomorphic curves on the part of preimage of hyperplanes contained in $X$ can be extended to the whole complex plane. If the holomorphic curves are of infinite order, we prove the existence of a propagation set which is the union of a sequence of disks (In fact, the method app…
We consider inductive limits of weighted spaces of holomorphic functions in the unit ball of $\mathbb C^n$. The relationship between sets of uniqueness, weakly sufficient sets and sampling sets in these spaces is studied. In particular, the equivalence of these sets, under general conditions of the weights, is obtained.
This paper considers the problem of restricting the short-time Fourier transform to domains of nonzero measure in the plane and studies sampling bounds of such systems. In particular, we give a quantitative estimate for the lower sampling bound in the case of Hermite windows and derive a sufficient condition for a large class of windows in terms of a certain planar density. On the way, we prove a Remez-type inequality for polyanalytic functions. MSC2010: 42C40, 46E15, 46E20, 42C15
We propose two possible definitions for the notion of a sampling sequence (or set) for Hardy spaces of the disk. The first one is inspired by recent work of Bruna, Nicolau, and Øyma about interpolating sequences in the same spaces, and it yields sampling sets which do not depend on the value of $p$ and correspond to the result proved for bounded functions ($p=\infty$) by Brown, Shields and Zeller. The second notion, while formally closer to the one used for weighted Bergman spaces, is shown to lead to trivial situations only, but raises a possibly interesting problem.
We discuss sampling constants for dominating sets in Bergman spaces. Our method is based on a Remez-type inequality by Andrievskii and Ruscheweyh. We also comment on extensions of the method to other spaces such as Fock and Paley-Wiener spaces.
Let $E$ be a measurable subset in a segment $[0,r]$ in the positive part of the real axis in the complex plane, and $U=u-v$ be the difference of subharmonic functions $u\not\equiv -\infty$ and $v\not\equiv-\infty$ on the complex plane. An integral of the maximum on circles centered at zero of $U^+:=\sup\{0,U\} $ or $|u|$ over $E$ with a function-multiplier $g\in L^p(E)$ in the integrand is estimated, respectively, in terms of the characteristic function $T_U$ of $U$ or the maximum of $u$ on circles centered at zero, and also in terms of the linear Lebesgue measure of $E$ and the $ L^p$-norm of…
We establish quantitative estimates for sampling (dominating) sets in model spaces associated with meromorphic inner functions, i.e. those corresponding to de Branges spaces. Our results encompass the Logvinenko-Sereda-Panejah (LSP) Theorem including Kovrijkine's optimal sampling constants for Paley-Wiener spaces. It also extends Dyakonov's LSP theoremfor model spaces associated with bounded derivative inner functions. Considering meromorphic inner functions allows us tointroduce a new geometric density condition, in terms of which the sampling sets are completely characterized. This, incompar…
The zero sets of the Bergman space $A^p_ω$ induced by either a radial weight $ω$ admitting a certain doubling property or a non-radial Bekollé-Bonami type weight are characterized in the spirit of Luecking's results from 1996. Accurate results obtained en route to this characterization are used to generalize Horowitz's factorization result from 1977 for functions in $A^p_ω$. The utility of the obtained factorization is illustrated by applications to integration and composition operators as well as to small Hankel operator induced by a conjugate analytic symbol. Dominating sets and sampling mea…
