Let $(ξ,η)$ be a bivariate Lévy process such that the integral $\int\_0^\infty e^{-ξ\_{t-}} dη\_t$ converges almost surely. We characterise, in terms of their \LL measures, those Lévy processes for which (the distribution of) this integral has atoms. We then turn attention to almost surely convergent integrals of the form $I:=\int\_0^\infty g(ξ\_t) dt$, where $g$ is a deterministic function. We give sufficient conditions ensuring that $I$ has no atoms, and under further conditions derive that $I$ has a Lebesgue density. The results are also extended to certain integrals of the form $\int\_0^\infty g(ξ\_t) dY\_t$, where $Y$ is an almost surely strictly increasing stochastic process, independent of $ξ$.
In this paper, we focus on the existence of the density for the law of the solutions to parabolic stochastic partial differential equations with two reflecting walls. The main tool is Malliavin calculus.
In this paper, we prove that the laws of perturbed diffusion processes and perturbed reflected diffusion processes are absolutely continuous with respect to the Lebesgue measure. The main tool we use is the Malliavin calculus.
We investigate the regularity of the law of Wong-Zakai-type approximations for Itô stochastic differential equations. These approximations solve random differential equations where the diffusion coefficient is Wick-multiplied by the smoothed white noise. Using a criteria based on the Malliavin calculus we establish absolute continuity and a Fokker-Planck-type equation solved in the distributional sense by the density. The parabolic smoothing effect typical of the solutions of Itô equations is lacking in this approximated framework; therefore, in order to prove absolute continuity, the initial …
We establish continuity of the integral representation $y(t)=x(t)+\int_0^th(y(s)) ds$, $t\ge0$, mapping a function $x$ into a function $y$ when the underlying function space $D$ is endowed with the Skorohod $M_1$ topology. We apply this integral representation with the continuous mapping theorem to establish heavy-traffic stochastic-process limits for many-server queueing models when the limit process has jumps unmatched in the converging processes as can occur with bursty arrival processes or service interruptions. The proof of $M_1$-continuity is based on a new characterization of the $M_1$ …
We give a result of stability in law of the local time of the fractional Brownian motion with respect to small perturbations of the Hurst parameter. Concretely, we prove that the law (in the space of continuous functions) of the local time of the fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H$ converges weakly to that of the local time of $B^{H_0}$, when $H$ tends to $H_0$.
We establish a Chung-type law of the iterated logarithm and the exact local and uniform moduli of continuity for a large class of anisotropic Gaussian random fields with a harmonizable-type integral representation and the property of strong local nondeterminism. Compared with the existing results in the literature, our results do not require the assumption of stationary increments and provide more precise upper and lower bounds for the limiting constants. The results are applicable to the solutions of a class of linear stochastic partial differential equations driven by a fractional-colored Ga…
In this article, we consider the one-dimensional stochastic wave and heat equations driven by a linear multiplicative Gaussian noise which is white in time and behaves in space like a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst index $H\in (\frac 14,1)$. We prove that the solution of each of the above equations is continuous in terms of the index $H$, with respect to the convergence in law in the space of continuous functions. The proof is based on a tightness criterion on the plane and Malliavin calculus techniques in order to identify the limit law.
In this article, we consider the quasi-linear stochastic wave and heat equations on the real line and with an additive Gaussian noise which is white in time and behaves in space like a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst index $H\in (0,1)$. The drift term is assumed to be globally Lipschitz. We prove that the solution of each of the above equations is continuous in terms of the index $H$, with respect to the convergence in law in the space of continuous functions.
We study existence and regularity of the density for the solution $u(t,x)$ (with fixed $t > 0$ and $x \in D$) of the heat equation in a bounded domain $D \subset \mathbb R^d$ driven by a stochastic inhomogeneous Neumann boundary condition with stochastic term. The stochastic perturbation is given by a fractional Brownian motion process. Under suitable regularity assumptions on the coefficients, by means of tools from the Malliavin calculus, we prove that the law of the solution has a smooth density with respect to the Lebesgue measure in $\mathbb R$.
In this paper, we establish some general forms of the law of the iterated logarithm for independent random variables in a sub-linear expectation space, where the random variables are not necessarily identically distributed. Exponential inequalities for the maximum sum of independent random variables and Kolmogorov's converse exponential inequalities are established as tools for showing the law of the iterated logarithm. As an application, the sufficient and necessary conditions of the law of iterated logarithm for independent and identically distributed random variables under the sub-linear ex…
We consider the two dimensional Navier-Stokes equations in vorticity form with a stochastic forcing term given by a gaussian noise, white in time and coloured in space. First, we prove existence and uniqueness of a weak (in the Walsh sense) solution process $ξ$ and we show that, if the initial vorticity $ξ_0$ is continuous in space, then there exists a space-time continuous version of the solution. In addition we show that the solution $ξ(t,x)$ (evaluated at fixed points in time and space) is locally differentiable in the Malliavin calculus sense and that its image law is absolutely continuous…
We consider the simple random walk on supercritical percolation clusters in the multidimensional cubic lattice. In this model, a quenched large deviation principle holds for the position of the random walk. Its rate function depends on the law of the percolation configuration, and the aim of this paper is to study the continuity of the rate function in the law. To do this, it is useful that the rate function is expressed by the so-called Lyapunov exponent, which is the asymptotic cost paid by the random walk for traveling in a landscape of percolation configurations. In this context, we first …
We investigate the regularity of shot noise series and of Poisson integrals. We give conditions for the absolute continuity of their law with respect to Lebesgue measure and for their continuity in total variation norm. In particular, the case of truncated series in adressed. Our method relies on a disintegration of the probability space based on a mere conditioning by the first jumps of the underlying Poisson process.
Let $X$ be a $\mathbb{C}$-valued random variable with the property that $$X \ \text{ has the same law as }\ \sum_{j\ge1} T_j X_j$$ where $X_j$ are i.i.d.\ copies of $X$, which are independent of the (given) $\mathbb{C}$-valued random variables $ (T_j)_{j\ge1}$. We provide a simple criterion for the absolute continuity of the law of $X$ that requires, besides the known conditions for the existence of $X$, only finiteness of the first and second moment of $N$ - the number of nonzero weights $T_j$. Our criterion applies in particular to Biggins' martingale with complex parameter.
We prove results for random walks in dynamic random environments which do not require the strong uniform mixing assumptions present in the literature. We focus on the "environment seen from the walker"-process and in particular its invariant law. Under general conditions it exists and is mutually absolutely continuous to the environment law. With stronger assumptions we obtain for example uniform control on the density or a quenched CLT. The general conditions are made more explicit by looking at hidden Markov models or Markov chains as environment and by providing simple examples.
For two independent Lévy processes $ξ$ and $η$ and an exponentially distributed random variable $τ$ with parameter $q>0$, independent of $ξ$ and $η$, the killed exponential functional is given by $V_{q,ξ,η} := \int_0^τ\mathrm{e}^{-ξ_{s-}} \, \mathrm{d} η_s$. Interpreting the case $q=0$ as $τ=\infty$, the random variable $V_{q,ξ,η}$ is a natural generalization of the exponential functional $\int_0^\infty \mathrm{e}^{-ξ_{s-}} \, \mathrm{d} η_s$, the law of which is well-studied in the literature as it is the stationary distribution of a generalised Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process. In this paper we sh…
We consider discrete-time uncertain processes with finite state space and study the properties of game-theoretic upper expectations developed by Shafer and Vovk. We start by proving some basic properties, e.g. monotonicity, law of iterated upper expectations,... Afterwards, we show that this operator satisfies several, more involved continuity properties, including continuity with respect to non-decreasing sequences and continuity with respect to specific sequences of so-called `finitary measurable' functions, which are functions that depend on a finite number of states.
For a converging sequence of exponential Lévy models, we give conditions under which the associated sequence of option prices converges. We also study the behaviour of the prices when no such convergence holds. We then consider two special cases, first when the martingale measure is chosen by minimisation of entropy and then when it minimises Hellinger integrals.
In this paper we study the properties of the Poisson random measure and the Poisson integral associated with a G-Levy process. We prove that a Poisson integral is a G-Levy process and give the conditions which ensure that a Poisson integral belongs to a good space of random variables. In particular, we study the relation between the quasi- continuity of an integrand and the quasi-continuity of the integral. Lastly, we apply the results to establish the pathwise decomposition of a G-Levy process into a generalized G-Brownian motion and a pure-jump G-Levy process and prove that both processes be…
We consider the class of non-linear stochastic partial differential equations studied in \cite{conusdalang}. Equivalent formulations using integration with respect to a cylindrical Brownian motion and also the Skorohod integral are established. It is proved that the random field solution to these equations at any fixed point $(t,x)\in[0,T]\times \Rd$ is differentiable in the Malliavin sense. For this, an extension of the integration theory in \cite{conusdalang} to Hilbert space valued integrands is developed, and commutation formulae of the Malliavin derivative and stochastic and pathwise inte…
Kolmogorovs axiomatic framework is the best-known approach to describing probabilities and, due to its use of the Lebesgue integral, leads to remarkably strong continuity properties. However, it relies on the specification of a probability measure on all measurable events. The game-theoretic framework proposed by Shafer and Vovk does without this restriction. They define global upper expectation operators using local betting options. We study the continuity properties of these more general operators. We prove that they are continuous with respect to upward convergence and show that this is not…
The generalized fractional Brownian motion (GFBM) $X:=\{X(t)\}_{t\ge0}$ with parameters $γ\in [0, 1)$ and $α\in \left(-\frac12+\fracγ{2}, \, \frac12+\fracγ{2} \right)$ is a centered Gaussian $H$-self-similar process introduced by Pang and Taqqu (2019) as the scaling limit of power-law shot noise processes, where $H = α-\fracγ{2}+\frac12 \in(0,1)$. When $γ= 0$, $X$ is the ordinary fractional Brownian motion. For $γ\in (0, 1)$, GFBM $X$ does not have stationary increments, and its sample path properties such as Hölder continuity, path differentiability/non-differentiability, and the functional l…
This article is concerned with the joint law of an integrated Wishart bridge process and the trace of an integrated inverse Wishart bridge process over the interval $ \left[0,t\right] $. Its Laplace transform is obtained by studying the Wishart bridge processes and the absolute continuity property of Wishart laws.
We consider a family of Bessel Processes that depend on the starting point $x$ and dimension $δ$, but are driven by the same Brownian motion. Our main result is that almost surely the first time a process hits $0$ is jointly continuous in $x$ and $δ$, provided $δ\le 0$. As an application, we show that the SLE($κ$) welding homeomorphism is continuous in $κ$ for $κ\in [0,4]$. Our motivation behind this is to study the well known problem of the continuity of SLE$_κ$ in $κ$. The main tool in our proofs is random walks with increments distributed as infinite mean Inverse-Gamma laws.
We show that the law of the KPZ fixed point starting from arbitrary initial condition is absolutely continuous with respect to the law of Brownian motion $B$ on every compact interval. In particular, the Airy$_1$ process is absolutely continuous with respect to $B$ on any compact interval.
We prove absolute continuity of the law of the solution, evaluated at fixed points in time and space, to a parabolic dissipative stochastic PDE on $L^2(G)$, where $G$ is an open bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^d$ with smooth boundary. The equation is driven by a multiplicative Wiener noise and the nonlinear drift term is the superposition operator associated to a real function which is assumed to be monotone, locally Lipschitz continuous, and growing not faster than a polynomial. The proof, which uses arguments of the Malliavin calculus, crucially relies on the well-posedness theory in the mild …
We define and examine certain matrix-valued multiplicative functionals with local Kato potential terms and use probabilistic techniques to prove that the semigroups of the corresponding partial differential operators with matrix-valued coefficients are spatially continuous and have a jointly continuous integral kernel. These partial differential operators include Yang-Mills type Hamiltonians and Pauli type Hamiltonians, with "electrical" potentials that are elements of the matrix-valued local Kato class.
