We give a new proof of the following conjecture of Yoccoz: the sum of the logarithm of the conformal radius of fixed Siegel disks of monic quadratic polynomials and of the Brjuno function of their rotation number is bounded from above. In a former article we obtained a first proof based on the control of parabolic explosion. Here, we present a more elementary proof based on Yoccoz's initial methods. We then extend this result to some new families of polynomials such as unicritical ones. We also show that the conjecture does not hold for some other families of polynomials.

A Remark to the Theorem of Le Calvez and Yoccoz

The theorem of Le Calvez and Yoccoz states that there are no minimal homeomorphisms on the finite punctered 2-dimensional sphere S 2 . We show that this does not hold for other surfaces. Moreover, we discuss why the fast-conjugation-method fails in the most cases to construct such homeomorphisms. This article based on an old unpublished article (Quasi-Minimal, Pseudo-Minimal Systems and Dense Orbits) with incorrect results.

The 1/2--Complex Bruno function and the Yoccoz function. A numerical study of the Marmi--Moussa--Yoccoz Conjecture

We study the 1/2--Complex Bruno function and we produce an algorithm to evaluate it numerically, giving a characterization of the monoid $\hat{\mathcal{M}}=\mathcal{M}_T\cup \mathcal{M}_S$. We use this algorithm to test the Marmi--Moussa--Yoccoz Conjecture about the Hölder continuity of the function $z\mapsto -i\mathbf{B}(z)+ \log U(e^{2πi z})$ on $\{z\in \mathbb{C}: \Im z \geq 0 \}$, where $\mathbf{B}$ is the 1/2--complex Bruno function and $U$ is the Yoccoz function. We give a positive answer to an explicit question of S. Marmi et al [MMY2001].

A Proof of the Marmi-Moussa-Yoccoz conjecture for rotation numbers of high type

Marmi Moussa and Yoccoz conjectured that some error function Upsilon, related to the approximation of the size of Siegel disk by some arithmetic function of the rotation number theta, is a Holder continuous function of theta with exponent 1/2. Using the renormalization invariant class of Inou and Shishikura, we prove this conjecture for the restriction of Upsilon to a class of high type numbers.

Smooth Siegel disks via semicontinuity: a remark on a proof of Buff and Cheritat

Recently, Xavier Buff and Arnaud Cheritat have provided an elegant proof of the existence of quadratic Siegel disks with smooth boundary. In this short note, we show how results of Yoccoz and Risler can be used to conclude the same result. Our proof is a small modification of the argument given by Buff and Cheritat.

Some remarks on the optimality of the Bruno-R{ü}ssmann condition

We prove that the Bruno-R{ü}ssmann condition is optimal for the analytic preservation of a quasi-periodic invariant curve for an analytic twist map. The proof is based on Yoccoz's corresponding result for analytic circle diffeomorphisms and the uniqueness of invariant curves with a given irrational rotation number. We also prove a similar result for analytic Tonelli Hamiltonian flow with n = 2 degrees of freedom; for n $\ge$ 3 we only obtain a weaker result which recovers and slightly improves a theorem of Bessi.

Smooth Siegel disks without number theory: A remark on a proof by Buff and Cheritat

X. Buff and A. Cheritat proved that there are quadratic polynomials having Siegel disks with smooth boundaries. Based on a simplification of A. Avila, we give yet another simplification of their proof. The main tool used is a harmonic function introduced by Yoccoz whose boundary values are the sizes of the Siegel disks. The proof also applies to some other families of polynomials, entire and meromorphic functions.

On Selberg's Eigenvalue Conjecture for moduli spaces of abelian differentials

J.-C. Yoccoz proposed a natural extension of Selberg's Eigenvalue Conjecture to moduli spaces of abelian differentials. We prove an approximation to this conjecture. This gives a qualitative generalization of Selberg's $\frac{3}{16}$ Theorem to moduli spaces of abelian differentials on surfaces of genus $\geq 2$.

We prove that Mañé's conjecture, as stated in {\em Lagrangian flows: the dynamics of globally minimizing orbits}, Bol. Soc. Brasil. Mat. Hyperbolic components of polynomials with a fixed critical point of maximal order

For the study of the 2-dimensional space of cubic polynomials, J. Milnor considers the complex 1-dimensional slice S_n of the cubic polynomials which have a super-attracting orbit of period n. Remarks on minimal sets and conjectures of Cassels, Swinnerton-Dyer, and Margulis

We prove that a hypothesis of Cassels, Swinnerton-Dyer, recast by Margulis as statement on the action of the diagonal group $A$ on the space of unimodular lattices, is equivalent to several assertions about minimal sets for this action. More generally, for a maximal $\mathbb{R}$-diagonalizable subgroup $A$ of a reductive group $G$ and a lattice $Γ$ in $G$, we give a sufficient condition for a compact $A$-minimal subset $Y$ of $G/Γ$ to be of a simple form, which is also necessary if $G$ is $\mathbb{R}$-split. A remark on the central model method for the weak Palis conjecture of higher dimensional singular flows

For a generic vector field robustly without horseshoes, and an aperiodic chain recurrent class with singularities whose saddle values have different signs, the extended rescaled Poincaré map is associated with a central model. We estimate such central model and show it must have chain recurrent central segments over the singularities. A Remark on the Effective Mordell Conjecture and Rational Pre-Images under Quadratic Dynamical Systems

Fix a rational basepoint b and a rational number c. For the quadratic dynamical system f_c(x) = x^2+c, it has been shown that the number of rational points in the backward orbit of b is bounded independent of the choice of rational parameter c. In this short note we investigate the dependence of the bound on the basepoint b, assuming a strong form of the Mordell Conjecture.

An a priori bound of endomorphisms of $\mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^k$ and a remark on the Makienko conjecture in dimension one
