The filtration of the Virasoro minimal series representations M^{(p,p')}_{r,s} induced by the (1,3)-primary field $ϕ_{1,3}(z)$ is studied. For 1< p'/p< 2, a conjectural basis of M^{(p,p')}_{r,s} compatible with the filtration is given by using monomial vectors in terms of the Fourier coefficients of $ϕ_{1,3}(z)$. In support of this conjecture, we give two results. First, we establish the equality of the character of the conjectural basis vectors with the character of the whole representation space. Second, for the unitary series (p'=p+1), we establish for each $m$ the equality between the character of the degree $m$ monomial basis and the character of the degree $m$ component in the associated graded module Gr(M^{(p,p+1)}_{r,s}) with respect to the filtration defined by $ϕ_{1,3}(z)$.
Quadratic relations of the intertwiners are given explicitly in two cases of chiral conformal field theory, and monomial bases of the representation spaces are constructed by using the Fourier components of the intertwiners. The two cases are the (p,p')-minimal series for the Virasoro algebra where 1<p'/p<2, and the level k integrable highest weight modules for the affine Lie algebra \hat{sl}_2.
In this article, we give a sufficient and necessary condition for the $C_2$-cofiniteness of the 2-cycle permutation orbifold model $(V\otimes V)^σ$ for a $C_2$-cofinite vertex operator algebra and the 2-cycle permutation $σ$ of $V\otimes V$. As an application, we show that the 2-cycle permutation orbifold model of the simple Virasoro vertex operator algebra $L(c,0)$ of minimal central charge $c$ is $C_2$-cofinite.
We conjecture an explicit bound on the prime characteristic of a field, under which the Weyl modules of affine $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ and the minimal series modules of Virasoro algebra remain irreducible, and Goddard-Kent-Olive coset construction for affine $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ is valid.
We motivate and prove a series of identities which form a generalization of the Euler's pentagonal number theorem, and are closely related to specialized Macdonald's identities for powers of the Dedekind $η$--function. More precisely, we show that what we call ``denominator formula'' for the Virasoro algebra has ``higher analogue'' for all $c_{s,t}$-minimal models. We obtain one identity per series which is in agreement with features of conformal field theory such as {\em fusion} and {\em modular invariance} that require all the irreducible modules of the series. In particular, in the case of …
In this paper, a continuation of \cite{MPS}, we investigate the $S_3$-orbifold subalgebra of $(\mathcal{V}_c)^{\otimes 3}$, that is, we consider the $S_3$-fixed point vertex subalgebra of the tensor product of three copies of the universal Virasoro vertex operator algebras $\mathcal{V}_c$. Our main result is construction of a minimal, strong set of generators of this subalgebra for any generic values of $c$. More precisely, we show that this vertex algebra is of type $(2,4,6^2,8^2,9,10^2,11,12^3)$. We also investigate two prominent examples of simple $S_3$-orbifold algebras corresponding to ce…
Schramm-Loewner evolution (SLE) is a random process that gives a useful description of fractal curves. After its introduction, many works concerning the connection between SLE and conformal field theory (CFT) have been carried out. In this paper, we develop a new method of coupling SLE with a Wess-Zumino-Witten (WZW) model for $SU(2)$, an example of CFT, relying on a coset construction of Virasoro minimal models. Generalizations of SLE that correspond to WZW models were proposed by previous works [Bettelheim {\it et al.}, Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 95}, 251601 (2005)] and [Alekseev {\it et al.}, Le…
An analog of the minimal unitary series representations for the deformed Virasoro algebra is constructed using vertex operators of the quantum affine algebra $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)$. A similar construction is proposed for the elliptic algebra $A_{q,p}(\hat{sl}_2)$.
On the basis of the Andrews--Bailey construction, we derive fermionic sum representations of Virasoro characters of non unitary minimal models ${\cal M}(k,kp+p-1)$ and ${\cal M}(k,kp+1)$. These expressions include certain expressions conjectured by the Stony Brook group as special cases.
Let $\mathcal{O}_c$ be the category of finite-length modules for the Virasoro Lie algebra at central charge $c$ whose composition factors are irreducible quotients of reducible Verma modules. For any $c\in\mathbb{C}$, this category admits the vertex algebraic braided tensor category structure of Huang, Lepowsky, and Zhang. Here, we begin the detailed study of $\mathcal{O}_{c_{p,q}}$ where $c_{p,q} = 1-\frac{6(p-q)^2}{pq}$ for relatively prime integers $p, q \geq 2$; in conformal field theory, $\mathcal{O}_{c_{p,q}}$ corresponds to a logarithmic extension of the central charge $c_{p,q}$ Virasor…
We derive and study a quantum group g(p,q) that is Kazhdan--Lusztig-dual to the W-algebra W(p,q) of the logarithmic (p,q) conformal field theory model. The algebra W(p,q) is generated by two currents $W^+(z)$ and $W^-(z)$ of dimension (2p-1)(2q-1), and the energy--momentum tensor T(z). The two currents generate a vertex-operator ideal $R$ with the property that the quotient W(p,q)/R is the vertex-operator algebra of the (p,q) Virasoro minimal model. The number (2 p q) of irreducible g(p,q)-representations is the same as the number of irreducible W(p,q)-representations on which $R$ acts nontriv…
We consider the M(2,3) Minimal Liouville gravity, whose states in the gravity sector are represented by irreducible modules of the Virasoro algebra. We present a recursive construction for BRST cohomology classes. This construction is based on using an explicit form of singular vectors in irreducible modules of the Virasoro algebra. We construct an algebra of operators acting on the BRST cohomology space. The operator algebra of physical states is established by use of these operators.
In this paper we discuss the structure of the tensor product V'_{α,β}\otimes L(c,h) of irreducible module from intermediate series and irreducible highest weight module over the Virasoro algebra. We generalize Zhang's irreducibility criterion, and show that irreducibility depends on the existence of integral roots of a certain polynomial, induced by a singular vector in the Verma module V(c,h). A new type of irreducible Vir-module with infinite-dimensional weight subspaces is found. We show how the existence of intertwining operator for modules over vertex operator algebra yields reducibility …
We construct infinite dimensional spectral triples associated with representations of the super-Virasoro algebra. In particular the irreducible, unitary positive energy representation of the Ramond algebra with central charge c and minimal lowest weight h=c/24 is graded and gives rise to a net of even theta-summable spectral triples with non-zero Fredholm index. The irreducible unitary positive energy representations of the Neveu-Schwarz algebra give rise to nets of even theta-summable generalised spectral triples where there is no Dirac operator but only a superderivation.
We first rigourously establish, for any N, that the toroidal modular invariant partition functions for the (not necessarily unitary) W_N(p,q) minimal models biject onto a well-defined subset of those of the SU(N)xSU(N) Wess-Zumino-Witten theories at level (p-N,q-N). This permits considerable simplifications to the proof of the Cappelli-Itzykson-Zuber classification of Virasoro minimal models. More important, we obtain from this the complete classification of all modular invariants for the W_3(p,q) minimal models. All should be realised by rational conformal field theories. Previously, only tho…
Let \{M_{r,s}\}_{0< r < p, 0< s < p'} be the irreducible Virasoro modules in the $(p,p')$-minimal series. In our previous paper, we have constructed a monomial basis of \oplus_{r=1}^{p-1}M_{r,s} in the case of $1<p'/p<2$. By `monomials' we mean vectors of the form ϕ^{(r_L,r_{L-1})}_{-n_L}...ϕ^{(r_1,r_{0})}_{-n_1} |r_0,s >, where ϕ_{-n}^{(r',r)} are the Fourier components of the (2,1)-primary field mapping M_{r,s} to M_{r',s}, and |r_0,s > is the highest weight vector of M_{r_0,s}. In this article, for all p<p' with p>2 and s=1, we describe a subset of such monomials which conjecturally forms a…
We study a vertex operator algebra (VOA) V related to the M(3,p) Virasoro minimal series. This VOA reduces in the simplest case p=4 to the level two integrable vacuum module of $\hat{sl}_2$. On V there is an action of a commutative current a(z), which is an analog of the current e(z) of $\hat{sl}_2$. Our main concern is the subspace W generated by this action from the highest weight vector of V. Using the Fourier components of a(z), we present a monomial basis of W and a semi-infinite monomial basis of V. We also give a Gordon type formula for their characters.
For every odd p \geq 3, we investigate representation theory of the vertex algebra WW_{2,p} associated to (2,p) minimal models for the Virasoro algebras. We demonstrate that vertex algebras WW_{2,p} are C_2--cofinite and irrational. Complete classification of irreducible representations for WW_{2,3} is obtained, while the classification for p \geq 5 is subject to certain constant term identities. These identities can be viewed as "logarithmic deformations" of Dyson and Selberg constant term identities, and are of independent interest.
The asymptotics of characters $χ_{kλ}(\exp(h/k))$ of irreducible representations of a compact Lie group $G$ for large values of the scaling factor $k$ are given by Duistermaat-Heckman (DH) integrals over coadjoint orbits of $G$. This phenomenon generalises to coadjoint orbits of central extensions of loop groups $\widehat{LG}$ and of diffeomorphisms of the circle $\widehat{\rm Diff}(S^1)$. We show that the asymptotics of characters of integrable modules of affine Kac-Moody algebras and of the Virasoro algebra factorize into a divergent contribution of the standard form and a convergent contrib…
Using the language of vertex operator algebras (VOAs) and vector-valued modular forms we study the modular group representations and spaces of 1-point functions associated to intertwining operators for Virasoro minimal model VOAs. We examine all representations of dimension less than four associated to irreducible modules for minimal models, and determine when the kernel of these representations is a congruence or noncongruence subgroup of the modular group. Arithmetic criteria are given on the indexing of the irreducible modules for minimal models that imply the associated modular group repre…
We study logarithmic conformal field models that extend the (p,q) Virasoro minimal models. For coprime positive integers $p$ and $q$, the model is defined as the kernel of the two minimal-model screening operators. We identify the field content, construct the W-algebra W(p,q) that is the model symmetry (the maximal local algebra in the kernel), describe its irreducible modules, and find their characters. We then derive the SL(2,Z) representation on the space of torus amplitudes and study its properties. From the action of the screenings, we also identify the quantum group that is Kazhdan--Lusz…
We study the minimal models associated to $\mathfrak{osp}(1 \vert 2)$, otherwise known as the fractional-level Wess-Zumino-Witten models of $\mathfrak{osp}(1 \vert 2)$. Since these minimal models are extensions of the tensor product of certain Virasoro and $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ minimal models, we can induce the known structures of the representations of the latter models to get a rather complete understanding of the minimal models of $\mathfrak{osp}(1 \vert 2)$. In particular, we classify the irreducible relaxed highest-weight modules, determine their characters and compute their Grothendieck fusi…
We revisit the issue of counting all local fields of the restricted sine-Gordon model, in the case corresponding to a perturbation of minimal unitary conformal field theory. The problem amounts to the study of a quotient of certain space of polynomials which enter the integral representation for form factors. This space may be viewed as a $q$-analog of the space of conformal coinvariants associated with U_q(sl_{2}^) with q=\sqrt{-1}. We prove that its character is given by the restricted Kostka polynomial multiplied by a simple factor. As a result, we obtain a formula for the truncated charact…
We present and prove Rogers-Schur-Ramanujan (Bose/Fermi) type identities for the Virasoro characters of the minimal model $M(p,p').$ The proof uses the continued fraction decomposition of $p'/p$ introduced by Takahashi and Suzuki for the study of the Bethe's Ansatz equations of the XXZ model and gives a general method to construct polynomial generalizations of the fermionic form of the characters which satisfy the same recursion relations as the bosonic polynomials of Forrester and Baxter. We use this method to get fermionic representations of the characters $χ_{r,s}^{(p,p')}$ for many classes…
