We study natural quantizations of branching coefficients corresponding to the restrictions of the classical Lie groups to their Levi subgroups. We show that they admit a stable limit which can be regarded as a $q$-analogue of a tensor product multiplicity. According to a conjecture by Shimozono, the stable one-dimensional sum for nonexceptional affine crystals are expected to occur as special cases of these $q$-analogues.
In this note, we formulate and prove branching rules of simple polynomial modules for the Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{gl}(m|n)$. Our branching rules depend on the conjugacy class of the Borel subalgebra. A Gelfand-Tsetlin basis of a polynomial module associated to each Borel subalgebra is obtained in terms of generalized semistandard tableaux.
This note presents a procedure to determine the reduction of the irreducible and the induced characters of the symmetric group in terms of the irreducible and induced characters of the hyperoctahedral group Key Words: Symmetric Group, Hyperoctahedral group, Representations, Characters, Re- duction.
A root system is splint if it is a decomposition into a union of two root systems. Examples of such root systems arise naturally in studying embeddings of reductive Lie subalgebras into simple Lie algebras. Given a splint root system, one can try to understand its branching rule. In this paper we discuss methods to understand such branching rules, and give precise formulas for specific cases, including the restriction functor from the exceptional Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}_2$ to $\mathfrak{sl}_3$.
We discuss the branching problem for generalized Verma modules $M_λ(\mathfrak g, \mathfrak p)$ applied to couples of reductive Lie algebras $\bar{\mathfrak g}\hookrightarrow \mathfrak g$. The analysis is based on projecting character formulas to quantify the branching, and on the action of the center of $U(\bar{\mathfrak g})$ to explicitly construct singular vectors realizing part of the branching. We demonstrate the results on the pair $\mathrm{Lie}G_2\hookrightarrow{so(7)}$ for both strongly and weakly compatible with $i(\mathrm {Lie} G_2)$ parabolic subalgebras and a large class of inducing…
We describe the branching of Lie algebras of classical type over $A_{n-1}$ using an inductive approach, which was motivated by the work of Gornitskii. This allows us to label the highest weight vectors of the modules occurring in the decomposition of the restriction of a finite-dimensional simple module to $A_{n-1}$ by lattice points of a string or a Lusztig polytope.
The main purpose of this paper is to study Quantization of color Lie bialgebras, generalizing to color case the approach by Etingof-Kazhdan which were considered for superbialgebras by Geer. Moreover we discuss Drinfeld category, Quantization of Triangular color Lie bialgebras and Simple color Lie bialgebras of Cartan type.
We discuss some applications of signature quantization to the representation theory of compact Lie groups. In particular, we prove signature analogues of the Kostant formula for weight multiplicities and the Steinberg formula for tensor product multiplicities. Using symmetric functions, we also find, for type A, analogues of the Weyl branching rule and the Gelfand-Tsetlin theorem. These analogues involve a q-analogue of the Kostant partition function. We show that in type A, this q-analogue is polynomial in the relative interior of the cells of a complex of cones. This chamber complex can be t…
In this paper we give some branching rules for the fundamental representations of Kac--Moody Lie algebras associated to $T$-shaped graphs. These formulas are useful to describe generators of the generic rings for free resolutions of length three described in [JWm16]. We also make some conjectures about the generic rings.
The branching problem for a couple of non-compatible Lie algebras and their parabolic subalgebras applied to generalized Verma modules was recently discussed in \cite{ms}. In the present article, we employ the recently developed F-method, \cite{KOSS1}, \cite{KOSS2} to the couple of non-compatible Lie algebras $({\LieGtwo},{so(7)})$, and generalized conformal ${so(7)}$-Verma modules of scalar type. As a result, we classify the $\LieGtwo \cap \gop'$-singular vectors for this class of $so(7)$-modules.
We construct functors categorifying the branching rules for $U_q(\mathfrak{g})$ for $\mathfrak{g}$ of type $B_n$, $C_n$, and $D_n$ for the embeddings $so_{2n+1}\supset so_{2n-1}$, $sp_{2n}\supset sp_{2n-2}$, and $so_{2n}\supset so_{2n-2}$. We give the corresponding categorical Gelfand-Tsetlin basis.
Let g' and g be isomorphic to any two of the Lie algebras gl(infty), sl(infty), sp(infty), and so(infty). Let M be a simple tensor g-module. We introduce the notion of an embedding of g' into g of general tensor type and derive branching laws for triples g', g, and M, where the embedding of g' into g is of general tensor type. More precisely, since M is in general not semisimple as a g'-module, we determine the socle filtration of M over g'. Due to the description of embeddings of classical locally finite Lie algebras given by Dimitrov and Penkov, our results hold for all possible embeddings o…
Polynomials in this paper are defined starting from a compact semisimple Lie group. A known classification of maximal, semisimple subgroups of simple Lie groups is used to select the cases to be considered here. A general method is presented and all the cases of rank not greater then 3 are explicitly studied. We derive the polynomials of simple Lie groups B_3 and C_3 as they are not available elsewhere. The results point to far reaching Lie theoretical connections to the theory of multivariable orthogonal polynomials.
We construct a new family of irreducible modules over any basic classical affine Kac-Moody Lie superalgebra which are induced from modules over the Heisenberg subalgebra. We also obtain irreducible deformations of these modules for the quantum affine superalgebra of type A.
Splints of root system of simple lie algebras appears naturally on studies of embedding of reductive subalgebras. A splint can be used to construct a branching rules as implementation of this idea simplifies calculation of branching coefficient. We extend the concept of splints to classical lie superalgebras cases as these algebras have wide application in physics.
It is demonstrated that decompositions of integrable highest weight modules of a simple Lie algebra with respect to its reductive subalgebra obey the set of algebraic relations leading to the recursive properties for the corresponding branching coefficients. These properties are encoded in the special element (of the formal algebra E(g)) Gamma_(a ->g) that describes the injection and is called the fan. In the simplest case, when "a" is a Cartan subalgebra of g, the recursion procedure generates the weight diagram of the module L(g). When applied to a reduction of highest weight modules the rec…
The generalized Cartan type $\mathbf{S}$ Lie algebras in char 0 with the Lie bialgebra structures involved are quantized, where the Drinfel'd twist we used is proved to be a variation of the Jordanian twist. As the passage from char 0 to char p, their quantization integral forms are given. By the modular reduction and base changes, we obtain certain quantizations of the restricted universal enveloping algebra $\mathbf u(\mathbf{S}(n;\underline{1}))$ (for the Cartan type simple modular restricted Lie algebra $\mathbf{S}(n;\underline{1})$ of $\mathbf{S}$ type). They are new Hopf algebras of trun…
The space of realizations of a finite-dimensional Lie algebra by first order differential operators is naturally isomorphic to H^1 with coefficients in the module of functions. The condition that a realization admits a finite-dimensional invariant subspace of functions seems to act as a kind of quantization condition on this H^1. It was known that this quantization of cohomology holds for all realizations on 2-dimensional homogeneous spaces, but the extent to which quantization of cohomology is true in general was an open question. The present article presents the first known counter-examples …
We give a complete description of the discrete spectra in the branching law $Π|_{G'}$ with respect to the pair $(G,G')=(O(p,q), O(p',q') \times O(p'',q''))$ for irreducible unitary representations $Π$ of $G$ that are "geometric quantization" of minimal elliptic coadjoint orbits. We also construct explicitly all holographic operators and prove a closed Parseval-type formula.
Let $K$ be a simply connected compact Lie group and $T^{\ast}(K)$ its cotangent bundle. We consider the problem of "quantization commutes with reduction" for the adjoint action of $K$ on $T^{\ast}(K).$ We quantize both $T^{\ast}(K)$ and the reduced phase space using geometric quantization with half-forms. We then construct a geometrically natural map from the space of invariant elements in the quantization of $T^{\ast}(K)$ to the quantization of the reduced phase space. We show that this map is a constant multiple of a unitary map.
We study Kontsevich's deformation quantization for the dual of a finite-dimensional real Lie algebra (or superalgebra) g. In this case the Kontsevich star-product defines a new convolution on S(g), regarded as the space of distributions supported at 0 in g. For p in S(g), we show that the convolution operator f->f*p is a differential operator with analytic germ. We use this fact to prove a conjecture of Kashiwara and Vergne on invariant distributions on a Lie group. This yields a new proof of Duflo's result on local solvability of bi-invariant differential operators on a Lie group. Moreover, t…
For every semi-simple Lie algebra one can construct the Drinfeld-Jimbo algebra U. This algebra is a deformation Hopf algebra defined by generators and relations. To study the representation theory of U, Drinfeld used the KZ-equations to construct a quasi-Hopf algebra A. He proved that particular categories of modules over the algebras U and A are tensor equivalent. Analogous constructions of the algebras U and A exist in the case of Lie superalgebra of type A-G. However, Drinfeld's proof of the above equivalence of categories does not generalize to Lie superalgebras. In this paper, we will dis…
This article is devoted to branching problems for holomorphic discrete series representations of a conformal group $G$ of a tube domain $T_Omega$ over a symmetric cone $Ω$. More precisely, we analyse restrictions of such representations to the conformal group $G'$ of a tube domain $T_{Ω'}$ holomorphically embedded in $T_Ω$. The goal of this work is the explicit construction of the symmetry breaking and holographic operators in this geometrical setting. To do so, a stratification space for a symmetric cone is introduced. This structure put the light on a new functional model, called the \emph{s…
The orbits of Weyl groups W(A(n)) of simple A(n) type Lie algebras are reduced to the union of orbits of the Weyl groups of maximal reductive subalgebras of A(n). Matrices transforming points of the orbits of W(An) into points of subalgebra orbits are listed for all cases n<=8 and for the infinite series of algebra-subalgebra pairs A(n) - A(n-k-1) x A(k) x U(1), A(2n) - B(n), A(2n-1) - C(n), A(2n-1) - D(n). Numerous special cases and examples are shown.
Let $G$ be the complex exceptional Lie group of type $G_2$. Among the five nilpotent orbits in its Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, only the 8-dimensional orbit $\mathcal{O}_8$ has non-normal orbit closure $\bar{\mathcal{O}_8}$. In this short note, we will give a quantization model of $\bar{\mathcal{O}_8}$, verifying a conjecture of Vogan in 1984.
Splint of root system of simple Lie algebra appears naturally in the study of (regular) embeddings of reductive subalgebras. It can be used to derive branching rules. Application of splint properties drastically simplifies calculations of branching coefficients. We study affine extension of splint root system of simple Lie algebra and obtain relations on theta and branching functions.
In this paper, we study the group Fourier transform and the Kohn-Nirenberg quantization for homogeneous Lie groups as mappings between certain Gelfand triples. For this, we restrict our considerations to the case, where the homogeneous Lie group $G$ admits irreducible unitary representations, that are square integrable modulo the center $Z(G)$ of $G$, and where $\dim Z(G)=1$. Replacing the Schwartz space by a certain subspace $\mathcal S_*(G) \hookrightarrow \mathcal S(G)$, we characterise the range of the group Fourier transform on $\mathcal S_*(G)$ and construct distributions and Gelfand tri…
Let g be a Lie bialgebra and let V be a finite-dimensional g-module. We study deformations of the symmetric algebra of V which are equivariant with respect to an action of the quantized enveloping algebra of g. In particular we investigate such quantizations obtained from the quantization of certain Lie bialgebra structures on the semidirect product of g and V. We classify these structure in the important special case, when g is complex, simple, with quasitriangular Lie bialgebra structure and V is a simple g-module. We then introduce more a general notion, co-Poisson module algebras and their…
We present LieART 2.0 which contains substantial extensions to the Mathematica application LieART (Lie Algebras and Representation Theory) for computations frequently encountered in Lie algebras and representation theory, such as tensor product decomposition and subalgebra branching of irreducible representations. The basic procedure is unchanged: it computes root systems of Lie algebras, weight systems and several other properties of irreducible representations, but new features and procedures have been included to allow the extensions to be seamless. The new version of LieART continues to be…
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a complex simple Lie algebra and let $\mathfrak{g}_0$ be the sub-algebra fixed by a diagram automorphism of $\mathfrak{g}$. Let $G$ be the complex, simply-connected, simple algebraic group with Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, and let $G_0$ be the connected subgroup of $G$ with Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}_0$. Let $ρ$ be the half sum of positive roots of $\mathfrak{g}$. In this article, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for a highest weight $\mathfrak{g}_0$-representation $V_0(dμ)$ to occur in the representation ${\rm res}_{\mathfrak{g}_0}V(dρ)$, for any saturation fac…

In this paper, we begin a quantization program for nilpotent orbits of a real semisimple Lie group. These orbits and their covers generalize the symplectic vector space. A complex structure polarizing the orbit and invariant under a maximal compact subgroup is provided by the Kronheimer-Vergne Kaehler structure. We outline a geometric program for quantizing the orbit with respect to this polarization. We work out this program in detail for minimal nilpotent orbits in the non-Hermitian case. The Hilbert space of quantization consists of holomorphic half-forms on the orbit. We construct the repr…
The purpose of this paper is to prove Duflo's conjecture for $(G,π, AN)$ where $G$ is a simple Lie group of Hermitian type and $π$ is a discrete series of $G$ and $AN$ is the maximal exponential solvable subgroup for an Iwasawa decomposition $G=KAN$. This is essentially reduced from the following general theorem we prove in this paper: let $G$ be a connected semisimple Lie group . Then a strongly elliptic $G$-coadjoint orbit $\mathcal{O}$ is holomorphic if and only if $\text{p}(\mathcal{O})$ is an open $AN$-coadjoint orbit, where $\text{p} : \mathfrak{g}^* \longrightarrow (\mathfrak{a}\oplus\m…
Let $\gg$ be the Lie algebra of a compact Lie group and let $θ$ be any automorphism of $\gg$. Let $\gk$ denote the fixed point subalgebra $\gg^θ$. In this paper we present LiE programs that, for any finite dimensional complex representation $π$ of $\gg$, give the explicit branching $π|_\gk$ of $π$ on $\gk$. Cases of special interest include the cases where $θ$ has order 2 (corresponding to compact riemannian symmetric spaces $G/K$), where $θ$ has order 3 (corresponding to compact nearly--kaehler homogeneous spaces $G/K$), where $θ$ has order 5 (which include the fascinating 5--symmetric space …
The purpose of this paper is to apply deformation quantization to the study of the coadjoint orbit method in the case of real reductive groups. We first prove some general results on the existence of equivariant deformation quantization of vector bundles on closed Lagrangian subvarieties, which lie in smooth symplectic varieties with Hamiltonian group actions. Then we apply them to orbit method and construct nontrivial irreducible Harish-Chandra modules for certain coadjoint orbits. Our examples include new geometric construction of representations associated to certain orbits of real exceptio…
Bezrukavnikov and Kaledin introduced quantizations of symplectic varieties X in positive characteristic which endow the Poisson bracket on X with the structure of a restricted Lie algebra. We consider deformation quantization of line bundles on Lagrangian subvarieties Y of X to modules over such quantizations. If the ideal sheaf of Y is a restricted Lie subalgebra of the structure sheaf of X, we show that there is a certain cohomology class which vanishes if and only if a line bundle on Y admits a quantization.
In 1979, M. Kashiwara and M. Vergne formulated a conjecture on a Lie group G which implies that the Duflo isomorphism of Z(g) and S(g)^g extends to a natural module isomorphism between the spaces of germs of invariant distributions on G and g=Lie(G), respectively. They also proved their conjecture for G solvable. Using Kontsevich's deformation quantization we establish directly this result for distributions on any real Lie group G. In turn this gives a new proof of Duflo's result on the local solvability of bi-invariant differential operators on G.
In this note, we revisit the quantization of Lie bialgebras described by the second author, placing it in the more general framework of the quantization of moduli spaces developed in our previous work. In particular, we show that embeddings of quilted surfaces (which are compatible with the choice of skeleton) induce morphisms between the corresponding quantized moduli spaces of flat connections. As an application, we describe quantizations of both the variety of Lagrangian subalgebras and the de-Cocini Procesi wonderful compactification, which are compatible with the action of the (quantized)…

Matrices transforming points of W(B(n)), W(C(n)) and W(D(n)) orbits into points of subalgebra orbits are listed for all cases n<=8 and for the infinite series of algebra-subalgebra pairs B(n) - B(n-1) x U(1), B(n) - D(n), B(n) - B(n-k) x D(k), B(n) - A(1), C(n) - C(n-k) x C(k), C(n) - A(n-1) x U(1), D(n) - A(n-1) x U(1), D(n) - D(n-1) x U(1), D(n) -B(n-1), D(n) - B(n-k-1) x B(k), …
Splint is a decomposition of root system into union of root systems. Splint of root system for simple Lie algebra appears naturally in studies of (regular) embeddings of reductive subalgebras. Splint can be used to construct branching rules. We consider special embedding of Lie subalgebra to Lie algebra. We classify projections of algebra root systems using extended Dynkin diagrams and single out the conditions of splint appearance and coincidence of branching coefficients with weight multiplicities. While such a coincidence is not very common it is connected with Gelfand-Tsetlin basis.
We establish a geometric quantization formula for a Hamiltonian action of a compact Lie group acting on a noncompact symplectic manifold with proper moment map.
We consider the supercircle $S^{1|1}$ equipped with the standard contact structure. The conformal Lie superalgebra K(1) acts on $S^{1|1}$ as the Lie superalgebra of contact vector fields; it contains the Möbius superalgebra $osp(1|2)$. We study the space of linear differential operators on weighted densities as a module over $osp(1|2)$. We introduce the canonical isomorphism between this space and the corresponding space of symbols and find interesting resonant cases where such an isomorphism does not exist.
